Out of curiosity, is anyone else here participating in National Novel Writing Month starting Nov. 1st.
New poster to Sylvia's site overall... I'm not doing NaNo for a few reasons, least of all is timing. November is such a lousy time for me, right at the end of the semester, before the holidays, and such. Then there was the reaction to my plans to continue working on an existing novel -- oy, was that so awful that I couldn't write for months.

But I like the W.OR.D. challenge. I need to finish my category, Cold Case, and pushing through some 50k words in November would do just that.

Fun? I'm going to be sick. :evil3: My goal WAS to revise an entire ST ms., but with hubby coming home, my parents coming to visit for a week, Thanksgiving, and losing this week to revisions on the Temptation I need to send out...ugh. I need to revise my goal.

So...I think my new goal is going to be to revise the first half of VS--about 180 pages. If I can do more...yay!!!!

Good luck, everyone! =D>

Think I'm ready for the goal thing.

*clearing throat*

I, Stephanie Tyler, will write 150 new pages. :D/

I'd like to finish my WIP, A Date With Destiny, since I've hit the 140 page mark there after some major editing yesterday, but I know I'll probably end up writing on some of my other stuff too. (But If Cece and Sasha can keep Jake busy enough :evil3: , DWD might just get done!).

Cheers to all!!!

It's any wonder I can even get this to post. I hope anyways.

Ok, I'm reading everyone's post on this word challenge and since you don't have to worry about all the stuff "I" worry about when writing, like punctuation being wrong, etc., which is NOT my strong suit, I decided I'd like to do this!

Yes, I have a secret desire to write, have even started a few stories but have only gotten so many pages done on each because frankly I don't have the time! But I think it would be fun to do and maybe even get a few comments on my writing? Better get the armor out.

I think I want to dig my two stories out and give this a go. Can you give me specifics again so I don't have to go back and read all the other posts? :evil3:

:hello2: HI Barb!

Welcome to the Write or Die Challenge!:axe:

Jump in and join us. These are the rules for our Write Or Die Challenge as they were posted earlier.

Quote

There are no rules. (Okay, maybe a couple. )

Work on whatever you like--a new story, a short story, a semi-completed story, a finished story that needs editing, whatever.

Before November 1st state what projects you're working on and what you expect to accomplish by the end of November. That way the rest of us can keep you on track. :axe: ( Kidding! I just wanted to use the smiley)

Report your progress on the message board either once a day, once a week, or once every few days. Whatever works for you. I think at least once a week reporting is the minimum. How else can we motivate you if you're not checking in?

That's it, I think. Let me know if I forgot something.

Basically, you state your own goal, and try to meet it. We'll be around on this board (I believe Sylvia will be putting up another thread for us as well) to help, sympathize, and kick butt so that as many as us reach our goals as possible.:whip:

Ialso think Sylvia will be putting the rulkes and a list of names with their stated goals up for us on November 1st for everyone's easy refrence.

As for people to look at your writing, I'm sure someone will be willing, as I'm sure we will all be putting stuff out there for input...I know I will. I accept that I need a bit of pushing to keep going at times.

Thanks for the early b-day thoughts, Marguerite!:evil3:

I'm working on a ms that is already in progress. Since I work full time and I also have my own design business, which I work on when I get home from my f/t job, my time is pretty limited so I won't be setting a huge goal for myself. Don't laugh when I say two pages a day. If you knew my schedule you'd understand. #-o Yes, my head is hurting. So that's all I can do right now, maybe more one day, maybe less.

Last night I just so happen to have taken my works-in-progress out and read over them. It's been a long time! I think the last time I worked on them was last year some time. I'm itching to get back into them. That bad thing, I have about three different versions of each. :evil3: Now the question is which one to I pick to continue on with. I like them all! This story is going to be a hot but emotional one. Or at least that's what I have planned. It's just turning out hot right now.

Thanks for the welcome, Sasha.

Hi Barb -

2 pages a day is a great goal! I swear, some days I can't even get 2 sentences down. (not this month tho. This month I will hyperventilate. I mean, write. That's it.... )

Hi Barb, :hello2:
Happy to have you join us!!! The registering for the board seems to be the tough part. The rest should be easy!!

Sasha covered the rules already, I'll be posting them and the individual goals in just a bit in a separate thread for easy reference. I'm switching mouse hands from my right to my left and jees!!! Things that took me moments, are now taking forever.

I'd be happy to help you out with your writing, and as you can see from the previous posts, we have a fabulous group of super talented writers from many different genres. I'm excited to get started and glad you're participating!

Barb,

Just set a goal you feel comfortable with. We want everyone to be able to finish and get one of those winner's buttons!

There are alot of us that have other jobs, kids, whatever, that's why this challenge is so great....we know what we can do, and what we can't. It's us doing what WE can and not what someone else tells us we should be doing.

Good Luck!!
