  1. So confused.  Overall the book was good but I’m glad there’s a second book.  There is a lot to explain. I was very surprised that Eva and Gideon were in business together with Ryan Landon since there has been so much distrust between them.  Finally found out what ECRA+ stands for!!

Most of the secondary characters were terrible, such back stabbers.  I got a vocabulary lesson too.  Had to look up so many words.  Thought Sylvia was trying to get a triple word score playing scrabble!!

Hopefully the chat community returns like it did for The Crossfire series.

  2. Just finished Butterfly in Frost.  Personally I wasn't impressed.  After 3 years, if this is the best Sylvia can do, then I know why So Close is not finished.

The tidbits about Eva was nice, sad though that after 7 years together she and Gideon have no children.  I mean she is 31!!     Apparently Cary married Trey and that Tatiana lost the baby

BIF was rather confusing with the instant attraction between Teagan and Garrett and their interaction.  After reading the twist, it made sense.  Wish it came sooner so we could understand better.  The ending was rushed.  Knew Garrett was sad about David's death, but didn't really know about the depression affecting Teagan.

Couldn't imagine Cross Industries investing in cosmetics.  Wonder what ECRA+ stands for

    Any other views?

We also never found out how Gideon had that fantasy about a sex swing - not sure if I fully understood his sexual history but up to Eva I thought all his sexual encounters were in that hotel room (and by that I mean full sex encounters as obviously that photo with the two women was not the full deal); that with Ann he went had flogged her and used the sex toys and if I am right Deanna had expected to be treated like that and was disappointed not to be????????  But he was ashamed of how he had treated Ann, realising it was because she was so like Hugh it was more punishing him.  He was also not particularly aroused when with Ann.

Reading between the lines re Gideon's father's suicide, I wondered if some of the problem was that Gideon either discovered the body or had sight of it.  That was something I had thought about when reading the earlier book where he said he was talking to Dr Peterson about his dad's suicide, but after Monica was killed he was desperate for Eva not to see her mother after being shot - which made me think he had seen his dad.  That would more explain the pretty extreme anger he had as a child.

Would also have been good to read a little more about Angus relationship with Gideon - what part he had played in saving Gideon from Hugh, transferring to work for him when he became successful etc.

A lot of this for me was more necessary to learn about that anything that was purely unanswered because the book had not reached that point in time (i.e. Cary's baby, Mark's wedding, any court case for Ann, what happened with Corrine etc. which would all be in the future).

I also wonder if So Close and its follow up were originally not going to feature the Crossfire characters, other than that reference in the excerpt - could it be that the clamour for more detail has resulted in a re-think about those books which has lengthened the writing?  I believe we do have to accept that for Sylvia the writing does take a while. I'm impatient to read more but I wouldn't stamp my feet like some fans did over the last two Crossfire books because of the gap between publication.  How many reviews were purely about the time taken to write the book and not the book itself - which to me does not constitute a book review!

I might do a re-read, a chapter a day (to fit it in with my other TBR list) and note down some of the events/situations that  I felt were not answered (or I may have missed where they were).

I agree with alot of points that your brought up.  Complaining about the time it takes to get a book out is not a review of the book itself.  It has been over 4 years since Diana Gabaldon put her last Outlander book out and I am still waiting patiently.  Also people that complain that it did not download properly.

  4. You seem to have a lot of time on your hands.  I do too sometimes.....I am almost finished re-reading the Crossfire Series for the fifth or sixth time.

I still have some unanswered questions.  In OWY (after the debacle with Monica's back story) a sneak peak into the Black List was provided, that was 2 years ago, what is taking Sylvia so long in writing these books, in previous communications it seemed that they were almost finished.

While the gang was in Rio and Ibiza why did only Monica, Cary and Eva have visas to go to Brazil and not  Shawna and Megumi?  And I still don't understand why Eva would loose her job if Mark chose to leave WF&L?  Just doesn't seem fair to the employee, what if Mark was fired>?

Seems like Sylvia has a lot on her plate, what with a story featuring Ireland and follow ups on the Crossfire series.  Really hated the ending to OWY.

  5. As I stated in earlier post I broke down and subscribed to Passionflix.

i thought the movie was pretty good.  Kept real close to the book.  I wasn’t thrilled with the ending, was not sure of what type of party it was but I did know that it was at Rossi’s and I’m assuming it was an engagement party.  Perplexed as to why Jax was the only one wearing a rossi’s T-shirt.

The rating for this movie I felt was PG 13 rather than R.  I have seen sex/love scenes with more sizzle on network TV (Good Behavior on TNT comes to mind ) than in this movie.  As for Passionflix, I am glad we were given a reduced price and can cancel at anytime which I will be doing before my month ends.  It had only 25 movies and they were all OLD.

As I said I did enjoy the movie.

  6. Technically Gideon was not her employer, he hadn't given the account to them yet.

she even hinted that she might be interested but wasn't going to act on anything.  If we want to be realistic, I have never been abused in anyway, but how can two sexually abused people be so active sexually. You would think the act would be intolerable.  Just my opinion. I really wouldn't know.

  7. I have been looking at the photos that Sylvia has been posting on her website....they need to give Tyler Johnson a better haircut. When it has that "messed" up look it makes him look like a goofy dork.

Caitlin Leahy looks like a pretty good Gia.

Looking forward to watching the movie,  will keep an open mind and give the actors the benefit of the doubt.

    keep posting Sylvia

    Hi!

It was important to me that my readers could watch just Afterburn/Aftershock without committing to anything else they didn't want and Passionflix assured me that it would be available widely for anyone who wanted to purchase just Jax & Gia's movie.

I haven't fully grasped all the logistics, but Passionflix has licensed streaming rights for their catalog of major studio romance movies only for specific territories. I can't remember if they said US only or North America only. For those who don't want to subscribe or unable to subscribe due to territory restrictions, Passionflix's original programming would be available to watch just by purchasing that one program (movie, series, etc.).

So, if I understand it correctly, you'll be able to purchase just Afterburn/Aftershock via the Passionflix service without subscribing to a monthly commitment. You'll also be able to purchase the movie via the iTunes store or on Amazon and possibly other streaming services we didn't discuss. Eventually, DVD's will be available, too. Once purchase links become available, I'll be sure to list all the ways you can get the movie on the website.

In the meantime, casting calls go out this week. I'll have our Jax & Gia to show you soon!

    Sylvia

Thanks so much for giving me so much needed info about the upcoming Jax/Gia movie.

looking forward for more info about viewing this movie . hope they will cast people that will do the characters justice .

    A fan always

A facebook user asked if the UK would be able to see the films, she believes so but is checking, also thinks they may go out on DVD.  The movie may also be available via Apple TV and Amazon video - she will update via FAQ on her web site so I'll keep an eye on that.

Hope it does come out in DVD.  I don't have Apple TV or Amazon video and I would hate to have to subscribe to passionflix for more than a month.  Keep me posted please

We've been chatting a little about this in the Afterburn Snippets thread.  I believe the author was hoping it would be released next year.  The company are currently working on Hollywood Dirt by Alexandra Torre which should be out in September, then a Julie Kenner in October, with the final movie for this year being December.  The coming soon then has Afterburn/Aftershock first in the list.

Is this company a real movie production company?  Website talks about streaming on phone laptops

i personally haven't heard of this company but that doesn't mean anything.  Popping out movies monthly is rather difficult. Thought it took at least a year or more. Wonder if they have casted any parts yet, seeing that it's being released next year.

jmhope and D500 I read both books and I really liked them thank you for suggesting them. I hope that if a movie is done it is very close to the books.  I am still having trouble signing on and still have to change my password so I am a little frustrated but I'll keep changing it when I do sign on. I'll probably start rereading the Crossfire Series again in the not too distant future. :)

Glad you enjoyed them. I'm having no problem signing in.

Getting ready to go on holiday, that's when I plan on re-reading The Crossfire series

Thank you for replying I appreciate it. I didn't realize that Ireland was going to be a duology that's exciting. I agree the Crossfire Series was about Gideon and Eva and Sylvia did a great job in my opinion. I'm looking forward to the Blacklist Series. I'm impatient but I'll continue to read others and reread until it comes out.

Haven't made up my mind if I am going to buy this book (kindle version) or the series....depends on the price.  Tired of buying it for $9.99 and then later on it is offered for half the price.  Other publishers/authors  do the same thing, sometimes it is "free" in the kindle version for a short time after the release date; but with no release date mentioned I don't have anything to worry about.

Dear jmhope, it is nice to hear from you it has been quite awhile, I hope all is well.  Thank you for responding I will have to purchase those two books. Thank you also D500 for responding, I read on Twitter about Gideon and Eva being in the Blacklist Series and Ireland's novels that is why I was curious about Afterburn/Aftershock.

I have been having difficulty signing into the fan site I have to keep changing my password in order to sign in, have either of you been having difficulties?

hey how have you been?   I have been fine.   Not much activity on this website anymore.  Haven't been signing on very much, but when I do no problem.

As for her books being linked, not really, just the ones marked "series" and then the character mentioned in the book is featured in the next book in the series.  Her stand alones are just that stand alone.

Hope you decide to read Afterburn/Aftershock think you will enjoy.  BTW you can get the books together,  the one in white with the gold shoes entitled Afterburn/Aftershock

    Dear D500,

I am having Gideon and Eva withdrawals. Unfortunately I haven't read Afterburn/Aftershock yet so I'm thinking it's time. If I am thinking correctly Deanna is in this series I am wondering if Gideon is in it also, can you let me know I would appreciate it? Does this series have a happy ever after?

    Patty

You will enjoy this series. No Gideon or Eva but Deanna is a character. Rumor has it that Afterburn/aftershock is being adapted into a movie for 2018

yes it does have a HEA
