  1. I agree with everyone on the site lol.

I miss Gideva more everyday and I'm really disappointed that OWY was not all that we wanted it to be. That being said very few are chatting bout it and that makes everything worse. At this time with the other books there would at least be 50 pages of book chat. I'm sure a writer writes because they have a story to tell  and if they are lucky they write a career changing series such as Crossfire. I just dont understand what the hurry was to end this series. It could have gone at least 3 more books and would obviously have been a lucrative project. Gideva are just an interesting couple and obviously alot of people like reading about them. They were very complex characters and their married life and the lives of those connected to them would have  been an  interesting read.

I do have a question I would like everyone to weigh in on if you will... At the beachhouse when Victor's family was present Eva mused that Monica had never been a part of that scene because Victor's family scorned her  because she broke Victor's heart. This lead me to believe that Monica had met Victor's family at some  point and perhaps was considering a life with him. So what made her change her mind? Perhaps the answers are in the journals she left Eva but as a reader I really would have rather had that story instead of the convoluted story of Jackson Tramell. Your thoughts?

    Hi Crossfire fans,

What happened to Jackson Tramell's sister Monica?  I'm a little confused.  Didn't the research tell him that "Monica" has two children and Eva had a sister?  Please explain this to me?  Huge fan of this series!

    Cindy

The real Monica Tramell who is now married and called Monica Diel is the one with 2 children.

  3. K I will start then. I wouldn't change a thing about chapter one . It was a natural progression from their time at the coffee shoppe to the workday. I loved when Eva and her mom went to lunch and Monica told Eva she was much more interesting than she herself was and Eva replied that Gideon also thought she was interesting. I loved when Gideon came into the breakroom at Eva's work and helped her deal with the Victor phonecall...overall a very nice Chapter 1...

I like how you're thinking. And as I read what you wrote I can say you're right. I can't recall the exact words but it had to do with Dr Peterson asking him about his sex life and how he answered him unless I'm wrong I thought he said he had sex maybe a couple of times a week which in my mind he was referring to the hotel, but I thought he also said he didn't "go all the way" while there. Do you remember this?

He said he had sex on average twice a week ... He said Dr. Peterson asked about "sexual encounters".  He told Eva he didnt always "nail" them and it was unusual when he did. He didn't think Dr. Peterson would appreciate the distinction lol

Arnoldo arranged the bachelor party, and he called Scott, Gideon's assistant, to arrange the trip (OWY page 205). So it's possible the red-headed receptionist overheard Scott handling the matter, and she was the leak. I like your theory a lot. I never trusted that receptionist, and I suspect she's somehow related to Anne Lucas. I always thought there was more to the red-hair than just the fact the receptionist wasn't a brunette (Gideon's old fetish) or a blonde (like Eva). Why do the books keep mentioning the red hair? It's a clue, I think.

At least this theory gives her a purpose to be mentioned as frequently as she has been in all 5 books.

I think I agree with you. I read that her name was Cheryl but it didn't say her last name, I always thought she was related to Anne or Hugh. If it was her because we know Scott would never do that she breached her NDA haha

She's in the perfect spot  to eavesdrop right there by  the elevators...and she probably always has her ears open for something about Gideon????

  7. Yes Ms Mac that is correct...but when Gideon saw the photo for the first time he said and I quote " Who knew I was in Brazil?" and the caption to the photo stated "Gideon Cross's Wild Brazilian Bachelor Party " I find it hard to believe that Anne Lucas could gain access to that info let alone the disturbed individual. That photo was released for the express purpose  of breaking up Gideva. It is just very improbable that those security breaches could occur.

  8. The reason we are still discussing this photo  is because all of our points are valid and if Sylvia is reading I'm sure we would all love her to answer. Gideon values his control due to the circumstances in his past when he had none. He lost control with Eva because she was different and of course he was different when he was with her.  Why would Gideon have been so careless on Cinco de Mayo with his public image when that was not the case in the past...my next question is how this disturbed individual was able to  gain the location  of Gideon's bachelor party. There were just a handful of people that knew the location in Brazil. I just  think that these 2 scenarios are very improbable.

Annoyed with myself for forgetting the photo - could have asked her last night!!

There's a variety of booths in that google search, but remembering that Gideon was supposed to be private about his 'goings on' and it was presumably one of his own clubs, then I'm with sscrph on this.  Google search won't always find what you ask for (e.g. search for a particular painting by an artist and you will get pictures not by that artist, not even of the same title).  So some of the 'booths' in that search are probably not what Sylvia imagined.  I bet the club she envisaged was in New York (after all if Gideon were to follow through he'd have to be near the f**pad), and in NY there will be plenty of VIPS who do want a good level of privacy.  I bet some booths do turn into rooms, whether because there are curtains to pull or doors that can be pulled aside so the front of the booth is open, or folded back to give privacy.  We don't know if the photo was taken looking through a door at them or from above.  It's possible if the three involved in the photo were very carried away they would not notice someone putting a camera through the curtains or opening a door to be able to see, but I suspect it is more likely the photo was taken from above where those involved would be less aware of an intrusion.

Unless one of those girls had a camera and got paid by the so-called stalker photographer that is the only scenario I can envision that would be able to dupe security...

Editor's oversight no question about it..

On the third re- read of OWY it is definitely mentioned that it is one of Gideon's clubs...

If the VIP room was in one of Gideon's clubs then I assume it was private because he would have made sure of it ...so in other words the stalker-photographer was able to penetrate Gideon's security team...it just seems very unlikely to me .

A lot of book choices have been given and I appreciate them all I will be checking into them.  I think a series about Ireland will be a long way down the road. I would like to know when the TV series would be out but I think that will take a long time also. I am just a very impatient person and would like it all now hahaha.

I truly enjoy these chats and comments with everyone, thank you for sharing.

I have probably reread FSOG, The Fixed Trilogy, Hudson, The Beautiful Series and of course the Crossfire Series 6-8 times, I know I'm crazy but when I find a story I love I like to reread them. LOL

I do the same thing patricia-ann and I have read all those as well . I am actually thinking of rereading Crossfire for the 20th time starting with BTY. When I get to OWY  I will just stop right before their night out to the charity Gala. Even though I hated the racy photo of Gideon I loved when he appeared on the NY talk show. The whole series was such a great read  it is hard to let go. I too think the Ireland spin off will be a long  time  coming. The new excerpt makes me think that Lily  ran away from Kane just like Eva wanted  to run because she didn't want to lose herself in Gideon...oh well only  time will tell.

I agree, I'm not sure if she is backpedaling because of the backlash from OWY. If she just thought after all the unset "I'll tell everyone I'm going to write a book about Ireland." She's hinting we will see characters maybe in Blacklist or for sure in Ireland's book. For those who read the Blacklist teaser Gideon was already mentioned though not by name. Will that be it or will be actually get to "see" him. Even though the Blacklist seems to be in the third person or at least that first part it doesn't seem like Kane knows Gideon personally or at least the butler or who ever it is doesn't. Seeing he just saw Gideon on the TV talk show. These other book are also going to be a forever wait. The first Blacklist book comes out in 2017, and if her track record tells us anything who knows when the second book will be out. As for Ireland's book, I'm betting on years. She is "dangling the carrot" I'm not sure if I want to bit just yet. I'm skeptical.

I would be appeased if she would write a novella of OWY with an alternate ending and write about the Gideva wedding all her fans were waiting for. Monica, Stanton Cary, Victor and all of the family present and Chris standing up for Gideon... OMG you probably wouldnt even be able to read the pages of your book through all the tears that would be falling...what an amazing read that would be????????

  13. Hi Lou totally agree with you about FIFTY SHADES while it wasn't a literary work of art I thought it was a really good  story and 80 million readers cant be wrong. Book 2 was also my favorite. In contrast the Crossfire books are addicting and 10 more wouldnt be enough. I too was one of the disappointed. EWY WAS MY FAVE OF THE FIVE and OWY wasn't the book that I had anticipated but 80percent of it was a really great read. Hope there is more to come????????

Ireland Vidal is also a kick Arse name to quote Eva just as Gideon and Eva Cross are.

  14. Yes I agree if there will be such a novel Ireland would probably be in her 20's perhaps just finishing college and starting at Vidal Records or Cross Industries. If you remember in CBY when Ireland stayed overnite she wanted a glass of wine and Gideon said maybe in a couple of years and Ireland said by then you'll have kids it won't be as fun lol so Im sure it will be a ways off. As OWY ends Ireland is probably a senior in high school and off to Columbia  in the next year.

Hopefully she will not hook up with Brett Kline lol????????

  15. I wonder how long this Ireland spin off novel has been in the works ? If it is set in stone it would be the perfect way to include Gideva because they both love Ireland to death and will certainly be a big part of her life. It will also be able to showcase the aftermath of the break up of Chris and  Elizabeth's marriage and the healing or not of their family. I cant imagine Eva forgiving Elizabeth anytime soon.

  16. Hi D500 as I mentioned earlier I think the Crossfire series is Sylvia's masterpiece and that can be said because the supporting characters were so interesting in addition to Gideva being such a delicious couple. Ten books could be written in this  series  because we simply adore all of them and want more. To those who say the series was extended for the purpose of financial gain... Well they are obviously not on this blog and would not be welcome.  I hope we do hear about Gideva in some of her upcoming novels but I would really like another book about them down the road. Perhaps 5 years down the road and release on Gideon's birthday which coincidentally is my birthday as well! I can tell you it would be one of my favorite birthday presents ever. :)

I think I have figured out my main problem with the Monica storyline, aside from it being overly complicated... The placement was poor. The last 20% of this book and therefore the entire series about Eva and Gideon centred around Monica and her death and her past.

For 2 books we were building toward the second wedding and their happily ever after, and instead we got a sudden death, shock reveals about Monica, Christopher, Anne etc... That by the time I was reading the final page and should have been clutching the book to my heart in delight, instead my mind was still churning over the overload of information about Monica and it fell flat...

If the backstory etc was kept the same but Monica had been killed sooner, it would have given me (and Eva & Gideon) more time to process this information. Their HEA would have felt more real because I had so many silly frustrations with Eva's reaction to losing her mother. Where was their guilt over the fact that the gunman was aiming for them? This was barely touched. Gideon spent almost an entire chapter agonising over lying to Eva and she barely reacted to that etc....

They just seemed to move on rather quickly for people who lost someone in such a sudden and tragic way - baring in mind that the epilogue takes place approximately 3 weeks after Monica is killed!!

Also the sheer volume of information revealed and loose ends that are tied up in that 20% was excessive!

    • Monica's entire life story
    • Anne's plan
    • Christopher's backstory
    • Cary / Trey
    • Victor moving to New York
    • Gideon / Christopher

does anyone agree? Do you think the placement of this storyline so close to the end could have had an impact on your feelings about this book?

Rogue I love your statement about clutching the book to your heart in delight...even my husband is sympathizing with me because he knew how much I was anticipating the new book. I totally agree about the placement of Monica's death but more than that since we find out that the shooter was aiming at Gideon I think it is so awful that Gideon feels guilty because of his association with Anne Lucas. As Eva says Gideon only deserves happiness he doesn't need any more guilt . ????????
