Dear all,  

 

it has been a while since I had posted my last entry here! It will be nice to discuss these books again with you all. Welcome to all new members here .. 

 

I´ve just finished CBY for the first time. I will start right away with the rereading. I must say after reading the first chapters last week in the preview I was total not happy .. either with Gideon´s behaviour and nor with Eva´s. But what I did like from the beginning the POV from Gideon. I always enjoy reading a male POV. And these first 3 chapters made me worry a lot and even anxious to read the whole book.

 

So, for now like fsumom above here are my first thoughts and impressions so far .. 

 

1. For me it is the most interesting book and my most favorite one together with BTY!

 

2. I reread my list of things which I wanted to happen and what I thought it might happen from last year I posted here  and I must say a great deal came true

 

3. What I did like: 

• Megumis reappearance very soon and why her disappearance .. glad that there was not a complicated plot with the Russian Mafia, 

• That we did learn so much from Gideon, about his daily life, his thoughts, his nightmares

• That Eva was able to tell her mother the limits of what Monika can have or not have with the upcoming wedding

• That there was quality time for Gideon and Eva with each other, with others outside their steamy sex encounters

• The episode Eva and Gideon having sex in the elevator after Gideon´s meeting with his stepdad

• That sex was important but not so important like in the last books

• That Gideon took care of Brent Kline ( I hate him .. more later)
• The Attorney and friend of Gideon, an interesting character
• That Gideon went to Carlifornia (I so hoped for it)

• More time with Ireland

• Gideon singing for Eva (perfect! I knew in the moment he claimed the stage that he would have a great voice and now have EVA all .. business man, a man who can sing and and and)

• I like that Chris Vidal believed Gideon, that he digged deeper and confronted Dr. Lucas!!
• That Eva realized that she can´t see Brent anymore or hug him .. at least 

 

4. What surprised me: 

 

• That indeed Clancy and his brothers did everything to avoid a more detailed murder investigations. It surprised me because his brother has to surpass a lot of rules in order to make that happened
• That Clancy is still watching Eva .. I am wondering .. does Stanton know of it or it is because of his order or both... Stantons order and Clancy own personal interest
• The reappearance of Detective Graves: what is she up to?
• That fact that Chris Vidal didn´t know about the abuse of Gideon
• That Chris Vidal left Elisabeth Vidal (I liked it and on the other hand I can´t believe he is finished with her forever)
• That Corinne already felt so well after her suicide and still is comitting Gideon and releasing a book of her own (then I remembered that in one of the discussions here it was mentioned and I started to laugh out loud!!)
• That Victor wants to pay for the wedding and did save so much money (great!)
• That again only little more than two weeks have passed
• That Brent didn´t tell Eva what he and Gideon met and Gideon´s tries to intimidate him
• That Brent really thought of using the film material for further videos 

 

5. Brent Kline: 

 

I hate him.   I must say .. more and more I am thinking he is similiar in some ways to Nathan. He is pursueing Eva ... he doesn´t care what she wants or not wants.

He isn´t listening at all to her. His girlfriend or better bed groupie which looks a great deal like Eva .. it is as he would stalking EVA. And I am really happy that Gideon went to Carlifornia, too. Even without Eva´s knowledge. Such a stupid thing to go without her husband. I mean .. she could have travelled their with Cary first and then Gideon could have followed a half day later .. doing his businesses and she hers. 

 

But I am wondering what he is up to now! If he really has stopped the pursueing of EVA .. I really don´t believe it so far. And showing the Video footage to all his band members ... he is not better than Nathan .. I am sorry .. he is at the beginning to become a Nathan .. maybe this is too strong to say it  .. but hey .. even after he learnt Eva is married he doesn´t want to step back. I do think he is dangerous .. 

 

6. The big fight between Gideon and Eva

 

Well, it was a such a surprise and at the same time it was not a surprised.  I was not happy about it and I am really wondering why Eva went to her mother!! I thought Gideon would buy the whole ad company of Eva and not only Mark. But now .. I feel .. The distance between them both was very necessary to push Gideon to open up .. Otherwise he wouldn´t have done it so quickly ..

 

Cary .. well .. he had did the same mistake with Trey like Gideon not telling him soon enough .. ! 

What I am very angry about Eva is ... she still hasn´t realized that her life had changed or would change completely after saying yes to Gideon Cross. How can she work for a company with the risk to work for a competitor of someone to CROSS INDUSTRIES. She is now a part of it .. ALL. And as a familiy all your strength should be thrown together in one pool and to benefit from it .. 

With Brent she could stay more or less single and independant .. but with Gideon .. as Gideon´s wife .. that is not possible. I do think Eva has a problem with money .. with too much money !

And I must say .. with all respect to all independant womans and her rights .. I like it very much that Gideon deals with all these nasty things about Brent without EVA´s knowing. I do think a good relationsship shares a lot but also has the trust that the other person can deals like he think because he or she knows it will have good reasons. 

 

 

At least: 

I have the feeling there is the need for book 5 and book 6 .. How will Sylvia close all the unfinished business in only just one book  .. ??  The dating between Eva and Gideon til living together, the nightmares of Gideon, Monika and Victor, Eva´s employment, the wedding, the Anne Lucas business, the abuse theme and all the relations inside the VIDAL family, the Corinne business, the Cary business .. moving in with Eva and Gideon, the baby issues and so on .. ONE BOOK IS NOT ENOUGH!!!!

I agree all the loose ends in one book - hope its 500 pages LOL  

^^^ What you said ^^^ Agree everything but the p.s. I'd gladly read six, seven, eight ... Crossfire books.

 

I'll have my own list of points when I'm done with my first re-read (and more after my second, seventh, eight ...) But throwing out one here, wow, the roots of Gideon's fetish for brunettes blew me away. Couple that with how he had to struggle to maintain hard-ons with Anne makes me wonder just how kinky he got at times with Corrine in that hotel room the three years she was his first and sole sex partner. God only knows what stuff she could reveal in a tell-all book. Probably would agonize Eva every bit as much as that sex tape bothers him.

Yea, how could I forget about the brunette thing - that was an AH HA moment too !   The book will be interesting, didn't take her for one to enjoy 'kinky f**kery' but ???  also will she be honest enougth to tell everyone she was the one to propose marriage ?  

 

LOL  I DO agree more books would be great - since we only cover weeks ... somewhere someone made a rude comment about there being more than the original 3 - Just telling 'them' not to start Outlander which covers 50 years and most books over 1000 pages on top of that ...  

Well ......  that was intense for sure.  I had lots of errands yesterday so read in short periods of time until the evening.  Read until the battery on the Nook died - a little after 1am.  Right in the middle of the big Chap19.  So turned out the light - for 5 min LOL when I went and got my phone and finished about 2:30  

 

I say 'WELL DONE'  Ms Day !!! and same to all of us Master Guessers  We were 'right on' with several ideas and pretty close of others !!!  I loved seeing in print.  

 

Corrine's book - I remember someone throwing that out - so I laughed out loud when I read it !

 

I knew Brett was a scum bag and he came thru for me !  I was disappointed with no details in the San Diego meeting, but rewarded with the New York meeting.  

 

Think we knew Clancy was the 'guardian angel'

 

I think several thought G would get the beach house for E - but a big plus the 2nd wedding will be there  

 

Anne is a B*tch - no surprise  still a little gray on the timeline with her and Hugh's id and weather she knew 

 

and of course the biggest surprise (?) of all - Stepdad Chris reaction and woo hoo knocking Dr T out cold

 

biggest disappointment - not enough Christoper and his part in G trouble and same for Mommy Dearest (what went on between the 2 of them that kept Chris in the dark)  

 

Saddest of course the big fight and separation BUT

 

Then the big breakthru with Dr P and telling E in detail about the dreams

 

I think having most of this book in G POV was so different threw us a little off base.  Seeing him less than the self-confident, alpha male was difficult in places and then to see all the 'behind' the scene things he controlled / impacted just changed the whole dynamic of the couple/    

 

OK obviously I've had too much coffee this morning so will shut up ...........  excited to see all the comments  LOVE this place !!!

 

ps ...  just a quick comment to those about the story being 'drawn out' to 5 should avoid Outlander at all cost - 8 books already LOL & I'm only in the mid of #6  

Exactly! Soon as she realized his mother failed him she had a whole different attitude. Though it took losing Gideon (so she thought) for Eva to go to war. Once she concluded (wrongly) Gideon had been left so damaged he couldn't handle love and couldn't look at her anymore because of the Nathan pictures. It was when Eva picked her shattered heart off the floor and showed signs of life as New Eva, then came the hit list: Mommy, Terry Lucas, Corrine, Christopher Jr. She went after the first three but let Christopher off easy because she felt bad for him. Was that a mistake? Does Gideon's brother have a lot to do with that sex tape? If so I hope Eva and Gideon both go after him. The teasers have hinted about some sort of brotherly showdown.

The ring is a puzzle - if Gideon dislikes his mother so much, why did he want to give what was HER ring to his own wife? I know it is the ring his father gave her so it may well be a Cross family heirloom, and we know Eva loves the ring, but it was his mother's for a while.

When Mommy said 'her' ring G came back with no 'HIS" ring !  I'm thinking way back certain items were given to G and when he gave it to E she saw it as a 'remembrance of happy times' when he had a happy family life.  

 

I think E was prepared to be friends with Mommy until the walk on the beach and G told E that Mom didn't believe him.  Then it was 'war' between them !  

 

And I don't think Mom knows about E abuse, that's the bond between G & E - not Gold-digging- LOL 

 

BUT we will see tomorrow, won't we  

I just love hearing all he theories being thrown out there.  I believe Gideon said that Ann's family were all in the mental health field.  How about the red head at the party was another sibling of Ann's.  The red hair being a family trait and all.  They could blame Gideon for the death of the brother and try to back at him thru Eva. 

 

One thing that wasn't mentioned was press pictures and the event the night before - Gideon surely could have looked at all the photo's to see if Ann was there...or anyone with long red hair.  Or at the very least have one of his henchmen look.

Hopefully we will get more specifics on Gideon's abuse but based on what we 'sorta' know now ...  

 

Dr Terry knows it was Anne's brother - but did she?  remember G once told E he could understand now why he lied if he loved Anne as much as G loved her.

 

Other than Dr Terry, Anne and Gideon (& now Eva) who else knows about the affair ??  and unless she is REALLY a sicko would she have lusted after G if she knew her brother abused him as a child ??  

 

In the new Chap E describes his previous women as 'agressive' so who knows how many are POd that he is now engaged and would like to sabatoge his relationship by gossip to Eva

Random thoughts ....  

Loved Gideon POV ! certainly see him in a diff light, alot more insecure than expected.  

 

POd at Eva for using the word 'confused' to decribe her thoughts on Brett  she knew it would set G off - and his Corrine threat just self-defense.

 

Still think Brett knows about the tape and is hoping this will break with G & E, Big surprise when he finds out they are married.   I hope E talks to Dr T before she sees Brett, so he can 'screw 'her head on right

 

I think it is interesting to hear E described as 'wild child'.  I think she was earlier when she was acting out her issues, but now she is more secure and being loved and loving has settled her

 

Gideon's distraction at the Outer Banks didn't end when they returned but no one knows that it was probably Nathan that distracted him from business dealing and more Eva.

 

Wondering about the timing of G's affair with Anne ??  was it after he knew it was her brother that abused him !   I think his issues with her could well have been cause by him really not interested - just revenge,  Since mentioned Anne and her brother looked similar I don't think her could have ever 'gotten it up' based on his revulsion.  

 

Any way can't wait til Tuesday !!  I know it will be a wild ride     

I tried to see that item in the corner a couple of times but couldn't tell ---- maybe Gideon taking a gamble and 'buying' the sex tape original ??    OK, did I miss the info we aren't getting any more teaser text from book and just getting the chapter pics until realease date ....  Outlander been filling the void while I'm waiting, the TV series got me hooked on the books -- and still trying to get my breath back after watching the Wedding - a couple of times LOL

I don't understand the meaning of this teaser.....what meaning is Sylvia giving to the word "tear" Tear as in cry or tear as in rip apart? Clueless....any opinions?

Thanks !  I thought it was just me ... I keep re-reading but the 1st part makes no sense to me.  Maybe it's the choice of words.  

Actually I also think that the sweaty, hot Mothers Day teaser shows that Gideon is fully prepared to use his amazing body and sex god vortex package to keep Eva from getting mad at him and to keep him from falling off the cliff so to speak...He can play dirty when warranted just like Eva!! .

WHAT IF .....  that isn't Eva speaking but Cary meeting up with Gideon to discuss the Brett tape ??

 

JUST THINKING  ....  his greeting ' Sorry you caught me mid-workout' ... doesn't sound like any greeting he was would say to Eva.  And Cary has always had the 'hots' for Gideon so he would definitely appreciate a ripped, sweaty body !!!  

They are another great couple would definitely love to hear more.  And now we know that Deanna is a 100% pure B*tch !  I checked back and when she first me Eva in condo lobby she interduced herself as a 'freelance reporter' so that sounds like she had lost her job and looking for her next tabloid feature - dirt on Gideon !   I think there probably a good chance the 'boys' know each other, those young, rich, extra hot ones seem to frequent the same functions.  And wouldn't it be great if Gia and Eva could double team and whip D's butt.

Hi Sharon loved your post and I just wanted to share something with the fellow forum members...Last week from Dec 20th thru the 23rd I was fortunate to have the opportunity to visit New York City at the height of the Chrtistmas season. As you can imagine I was completely amazed at the sights and sounds and people everywhere as were my husband and daughter...and the entire time GidEva were never far from my thoughts!!! As I walked along 5th Avenue I wondered where Gideon's penthouse might be and as I browsed in Tiffany's I looked for Eva's watch and promise ring. The only place I didn't make it to was Bryant Park but then I could always go for a return trip!! The point I'm trying to make is that Sylvia's Crossfire series has really affected all of us . It is just hard to get it out of your head!! My wish for all of us this New Year is to continue reading and discussing and hopefully CBY will be in our hands sooner rather than later in 2014!!! Happy New Year to all on the forum and of course Sylvia also. May you continue to write and engage your readers for many years to come!! Thank you for all of the hours of discussion you have provided us with and perhaps if you have one too many on New Years Eve you can possibly let slip the release date or a snippet or two or three... LOL. .

I hope this is the appropriate place for this post.  I picked this forum because I started with Crossfire and spend most of my time here. 

 

I want to wish everyone a very happy 2014.  In addition, I want to thank Sylvia Day for not only introducing me to a great book series with a very hot, damaged and in love fictitious couple (Eva & Gideon) but also to some wonderful (real life) lovers of books.

 

My initial visit to this site was in search of the release date for Entwined With You.  After jumping on the site a few times to peruse the members' thoughts on the books and characters, some that I love, some that I want to choke, I started to debate what Sylvia "really meant" in BTY & RIY.  Then I began to participate on the other threads because I was sure I understood SD's clues and how they were going to play out in EWY.  (BTW I was wrong more than I was right.) 

 

My initial thought was that I would spend a couple days on this forum and then move on but I couldn't stay away.  I returned regularly for almost a year now and I absolutely love everyone's thoughts and input.  It will be more exhilarating when we get to discuss Captivated (not asking for an update from SD but I won't be upset if she shares a snippet or two or three or four. )    Not trying to get on your nerves Sylvia just having fun.

 

Anyway, after talking with fellow fans I found a group of ladies with a similar love of books.  They are generous with their time and recommendations.  I can't thank them enough for their sense of humor, excellent advise and just being an all around great group of women.  One of the best times I had last year was attending Book Bash.  (Thanks Kirsten for letting me know this event was so close to me and getting me a ticket.)  To the rest of our little group "The Crossfire Angels" I look forward to our daily discussions, pictures, and commiserations about everything from soup to Nutella. To my fellow "Kill A Character" participants some of you might need psychiatric help--you know who you are.  Finally GiGi thanks for being the keeper of the book list.  It is a great reference when I'm looking for my next read.

 

Thanks Sylvia for giving me good stories to read and introducing me to some good friends.  I hope 2014 finds you healthy and writing more wonderful stories.

 

Hi Sharon - Your comments are perfect !  This site has been very entertaining and made the Crossfire series more than just books.  Looking forward to the next 2 books and I know they will generate the same 'spirited' discussions the 1st 3 have done.

I don't know if this is right..... But did anyone catch lizzy saying Eva can't take gideon away from her??? What if his preference for brunettes originally stems from something else? And Anne Lucas refers to more than one woman needing psychiatric help..... I think she's including lizzy in that context..... And I agree that Anne is the mist devious of all his past women....

When Elizabeth made that statement about take him away - I thought what planet is she on?  Cause she hasn't had him emotionally since she refused to believe him and or physically since he moved out.  And I'm sticking with 'the brunette / black hair thing' is rooted w his Mama and her rejection. And that Anne's including herself as a psycho   So much fun to look forward to !!

Thus far, all of these potential theories are all speculation.  We the readers are left to wonder....control in the bedroom doesn't necessarily equate with a BDSM lifestyle.  I think it will be interesting to see if these topics will be broached in the next two books. 

I think that Syliva mentioned early on that we would see the 'sex swing' again in upcoming books.  And I agree he needs control in the sex due his total loss of control as a child, but not necessarily BDSM as Christian practiced.  Another thing once he knew about Eva's own abuse he was very scared of pushing too hard or losing control with her.  I doubt he's too rough cause that info would would gossip fodder for sure amoung all his one-nighters.  As everyone else can't wait for the story to continue

I respecfully disagree.  I have always felt Elizabeth went to Terrence on a referral from Anne or because of a personal relationship for a second opinion.  The Lucas and the Vidal families seem to travel in the same social circles.

What has always interested me, in RIY when Eva confronts Elizabeth in the restaurant she tells Eva she had 2 doctors examine Gideon and I don't think we ever have been told who that 2nd doctor.  So is there someone out there that knows and lied too? And of course she said that Chris Jr said nothing happened but he was 5 or 6 so how accurate can that be about something so important.    

 

Just saying I think there is more to be revealed about this  .............

Random thought for today .... Now here is real villian or should I say 'Femme Fatale'.  Reading Entertainment Weekly I ran across this interesting fact.  Sharon Stone 'bad, bad girl' in Basic Instinct was ...... TA DA   Catherine Tramell.  As distant relation ???  LOL  

Currently showing on Showtime - The Cool Light of Day (2012) the movie that conviced me Henry was Gideon.  He looks really yummy in it even if it is a 'B' movie at best
