Question to ponder over while I go to work.

How will Gideon and Eva be able to have contact with each other ie love trysts, more so at Eva's apartment, because of Cary. Don't forget he has radar ears! There's going to be a lot of sneaking around. The only phone she could use was the club. Could they get a couple of disposable mobiles without being traced?

Yes I had this same thought that seems the way to go...

I'm thinking it may be Eva's birthday and someone sent her flowers and a card to her office.

I think the card says Happy Father's Day!!! Good God could Eva be pregnant?? Maybe that was what the one snapshot was referring to someone was sick maybe she had morning sickness... I think this is a bit odd though why the extra snapshot on FB is SD trying to put us over the edge??!!

A good lawyer could turn around Eva's admission that she dumped Gideon on Saturday.  It isn't unusual for someone to be involved with two people at the same time.  The Lawyer could say Eva finally had enough and said this is it.  I can't wait any longer for you to make a decision.  ...Or something like that.

OK someone posted on one of the other threads that she talked to Sylvia at a meet and greet and Sylvia indicated that Monica was involved in the Nathan murder more than people think.   That will put a whole different twist on everything.

I never read anything about that, but I am new to the site and was not on from yesterday afternoon so now going through catch up, I always thought Monica and Stanton probably had the meeting with Gideon at Gideon's home when Eva called him from the hospital and she heard muffled voices from his home and then she hung up.  I still think it was Monica, Stanton probably Clancy and Angus all there to discuss Nathan so I would not be surprised if they are all linked to the murder.

One of the snippets Sylvia posted is Gideon's POV. It didn't give us any indication that he felt he was being cruel to her. It did give the impression that he was worried that Eva didn't want to have anything to do with him in the future. I don't know if he realizes how cruel he has been with Eva. I don't know if he understands that his actions are truly devastating Eva.

Hey Julie

I think deep down Gideon knew he had to be cruel to Eva as it was the only way he could stay away, I got the impression when he caught her in the lift giving back her the ring he got her and asking her to wait, he knew he was hurting her, he could probably see it in her face and eyes and it was tearing him apart and that is why the only way he could convince Eva that he was hurting too and missing her was to give her the ring back and ask her to wait, also in Chapter 1 when he began to cry all his pent up emotion of how he was feeling was released as he must have been going through torture all the time waiting to be with her and seeing how she would react. :0

You know even if this sounds crazy it makes a little sense... I mean what would be the one way that Gideon could be sure that Eva wasn't afraid of him and had complete trust in their relationship going forward...Not to mention the fact that this really could be possible if she missed her birth control a couple of days when they went to the beach house...OMG!!!

Sscrph, I agree and also what better way for him to have contact with her again in public.. I mean who can say anything if they got back together for this reason. They could say there giving it a shot again because there having a baby together..what does everyone think??

Eva is not pregnant. Well IMO of course. Sylvia has said in several places that Eva and Gideon are struggling to have a relationship, so there will be no babies... yet. Plus we are in August so way past Father's Day.

The date doesn't have anything to do with it she is writing him that card to tell him that he is going to be a father...

“Good evening, Miss Tramell.†The doorman accompanied the greeting with a tap of his fingers to the brim of his hat and waited patiently while I swiped my debit card. When I’d finished paying, I accepted his help out of the back of the cab and felt his gaze slide discreetly over my tearstained face.

Smiling as if everything were okay in my world, I rushed into the lobby and headed straight for the elevator, with a brief wave at the front desk staff.

“Eva!â€

Turning my head, I discovered a svelte brunette in a stylish skirt-and-blouse ensemble rising to her feet in the lobby seating area. Her dark hair fell in thick waves around her shoulders, and her smile graced full lips that were a glossy pink. I frowned, not recognizing her.

“Yes?†I replied, suddenly wary. There was an avid gleam in her dark eyes that got my back up. Despite how battered I felt and probably looked, I squared my shoulders and faced her directly.

“Deanna Johnson,†she said, thrusting out a well-manicured hand. “Freelance reporter

I have a question, I was wondering why the doorman didn't warn Eva that the reporter was waiting for her.. if you remember the security was tight on the building, the reason she was living there. Why would the desk staff allow her to loiter in the lobby not knowing when Eva would be home.

Deanna didn't tell them she was a reporter. That'd gotten her tossed out of there right away. She claimed she was a friend, and she asked if she could wait in the lobby, given Eva wasn't home. The staff wouldn't have thrown her out.

When she did spot Eva, she called "Eva!" in a way like a friend would, a sort of "Hey, Eva!" instead of a "Ms. Trammell."

I think I've got this figured out, how "hours" could have passed between Eva listening to Graves and Eva being back home, thinking about the drama of the evening's events.

Eva was in a complete daze when she left the Krav Maga studio and had Clancy drive her to Gideon's. She remained in a daze as she sat on his doorstep. In fact, at the time she didn't know how long she had been there. She didn't snap out of her daze until Gideon came off the elevator. They talked, and she went home. Out of her daze now, she figures out what time it is. She knows when her Krav Maga class ended. Simple math makes her realize how much time elapsed.

So possible timeline:

  • Eva has Clancy drive her to Gideon's.
  • Still in a daze when she arrives, she goes on autopilot thinking she's going to stay for the evening/night. In other words, she's going to Gideon's instead of her apartment for the rest of the night. So she dismisses Clancy for the night instead of asking him to wait.
  • She sits there for a considerable amount of time while Gideon, still in a great deal of emotional anguish, worked late to help distract himself and then spent a couple of hours at the gym trying to physically outrun his pain through a punishing workout.
  • She does snap out of the daze when he finally does get home.
  • She tells him exactly what Graves said, and tells him he needs to call his defense team ASAP.
  • She also tells him, as a cop's daughter, it's quite possible Graves is trying to set them up. So she tells him she's leaving right now.
  • Talking with her at that moment is the last thing Gideon wants. Because it would involve talking about what he'd done. Sit there on the doorstep and hold her some more -- yes. Have a conversation beyond what she told him? No.
  • So he doesn't stop her when she leaves. In agony, he watches the elevator doors shut.
  • She gets a taxi and heads right home. Agh, she paid with a debit card, too, so she left an electronic trail of her trip.
  • He calls his defense team.
  • Then he screws up his courage to go to Eva's. He needs to know whether his worse fears are true: she now would conclude he is a physically violent person, one it would not be safe for her to continue to be around. Is it now over forever?

Yes SD did say they had alot to overcome before she was pregnant.

Another reason why it makes sense for several hours to have passed since Detective Graves spoke to Eva, Eva sat in a daze on Gideon's doorstep for a while, Eva recounted to Gideon when he arrived home, left him almost immediately, and finally arrived home at her own place was .....

.... by the time she did get home, Cary already was in his bedroom for the night. Maybe even asleep. Had it been earlier (i.e. soon after he class wrapped up) Cary would still have been up. Gideon might not have dared to sneak into Eva's apartment unless it was so late at night that the risk would be small Cary would see him come in.

Poor Gideon probably spent as little time as possible at home. Because it would be too painful to be in a place full of memories of Eva. Perhaps even more painful that being at the Crossfire during the day, plagued by visions of her past visits to his office, having to go through the elevator lobby where they met, even knowing during the workday she was down on the 20th floor. So close and yet for all intents and purposes on the other side of the moon.

I'll bet he worked late a lot in those awful weeks, perhaps the only times he could even halfway concentrate in his office was after she'd left the building for the day. He probably spent a lot of time at the gym too.

And some of his time spent away from home would be spent with Corrine. Taking her as his escort to business dinners, his date to society functions, out for dinners-for-two at restaurants. Now more than ever, because he was chief suspect in Nathan's killing, he needed to manipulate the public and the media (and thus manipulate the cops and the prosecution) he and Corrine were back together. He needed to spend more than a little time with her -- he needed to behave like a man in love, and that would involve somewhat frequent face-to-face time.

Thank God Eva 100% avoided reading about Gideon anymore once she dumped him, because the she was in post-breakup would have been a thousand times worse plagued by what probably were frequent pictures and daily stories about Gideon's lovelife, suddenly very big news again.

BUT .....

If (actually when) the stories start running about her and Brett, she's possibly going to get exposed to a lot of related stories about Gideon and Corrine. The media would definitely play up the pair of love triangles.

Thanks for the timeline LN, makes sense :)

This farce certainly hasn't worked on Graves. I get that Gideon was hurting too, but I'm just so annoyed that he took this route with Eva. I know he thought it was necessary, and I can even understand it to a point, but it's taken an emotional toll on Eva that she won't soon forget.

I do agree with your timeline assessment though LN.

Gideon may have thought/hoped, right on up to when Eva told him otherwise, Graves had not yet seen through the lie he was living with Corrine.

Sure, he must have known he was chief suspect, and the cops were digging hard. He might have even now realized that via aggressive interviewing of people who worked at the party hotel, Graves found the hour-long disruption to the party (and thus the hour-long hole in his alibi.)

Yet he was probably counting on her still be thwarted by the Corrine-cover-story part of his plot. Because, officially, she hasn't busted that yet. And certainly, the cops never would be revealing secrets of their investigation to Gideon's defense. They're not required to turn over jack s*** to the defense before a suspect is arrested. Only after someone is charged is the prosecution required to start sharing evidence (known by the legal term "discovery") with the defense.

So now Gideon knows -- Graves isn't buying the Corrine cover.

Oh could this mean that Gideon now will back off, perhaps even "dump" Corrine. She's not much use to him anymore. And now that  Eva has come back, he's got some very serious amends to make for how he treated Eva via using Corrine against Eva emotionally.

So does this mean were are going for the Brett theory, because this is more plausible now? Gideon can't afford to hurt Eva anymore, even though she knows as she said she still feels jealous at brunettes, that Corrine is a non starter.

The Brett theory seems a more believable one IMO and I agree with your assessment of Corrine as a non-starter.
