Crossfire Series Questions for SYLVIA

Kirsten

Question

This thread is being started so we can all have a place to put our questions that we want Sylvia to answer. Obviously she will not be able to answer all since we have two more book to go... YAY!

My question still is what was with the back and forth between Gideon and Elizabeth regarding Cary at the garden party?

It is obvious that Gideon and Angus have a very close relationship, will we find out more about it, it book 4 or 5?

This was a question by someone on Facebook and I thought it was quite relevant

We have no background on Monicas family, I think there are reasons she never shared with Eva for her total lack of explanation, Monica and Eva are almost russian blonde in looks, even Gideon has stated sometimes Eva was like an Ice Princess...I believe that Monica kept her child against her families expectations because she wanted Victors child...but Victor already had plans to be a cop, or was in police academy.....I think Monicas family has ties to Russian Mob...Monica grew up secured with wealth, when she was disowned, she did what she could to secure safety for herself and Eva....stayed clear of Victor even tho she wanted him....she reconized Victor was a GOOD guy, knew she by association could hurt him, took great pains to keep herself clear, then there is always the possibility Monicas family threatened Victor, sooo again Monica established a safety net of wealth for herself and Eva so that she could combat them if they TRIED later to threaten herself, or her daughter. She has married wealthy men, all with protection, and made Evas protection an obession....of course the Nathan thing gave her more cause to become obessed...so she did. But this is just my speculation.

This is so possible.

Hi Gigi

It was the comment to Cary. First of all she told him how handsome he was. Then when they were leaving, she begged Gideon not to leave taking, Cary, as he was the life and sole of the party. Gideon replied, "I thought you would like him, remember he is Eva's friend, which makes him my friend." This comment from Gideon made my flesh crawl. What had she done to Gideons friend/s?

Hi Julie,

That sort of makes my skin crawl!  Yuck!  I could see Cary being the life of the party because he has that type of personality and he is also a huge flirt, but Gideon's comments were strange ot say the least.

Thanks for taking the time to explain your thoughts about the theory.  :)

Hiya

The hostility and denial she showed towards Eva, makes me think, it maybe an uphill struggle. She needs physical evidence, not just words. She doesn't believe what she can't see. Poor Gideon didn't stand a chance.

I wonder why Elizabeth Vidal seems to be so invested in her delusion and her utter belief that her son was/is a liar.  When one thinks about it, so many years have passed between Gideon's abuse and Gideon in adulthood and yet, Elizabeth Vidal continues to spend the same amount of time if not more, trying to convince others (mainly Eva) that Gideon is either sick or a liar.

Why has this woman been so steadfast in her commitment to her son being ill?  Given time and space and maybe a change in perspective, wouldn't a person say "Hey maybe I made a mistake?".  That's what I don't understand about Elizabeth Vidal.  What does everyone think?

That is one seriously intriguing theory!! It could be.  If Monica had family ties to the "mob"  then how one earth would she have been able to explain that to a man who wanted to maintain law and order?  Oh the irony of that situation...Great theory though to whomever came up with that one!  Thank you!  :)

This theory could be possible. Maybe Monica is protecting Victor.

Chapter seventeen when Eva and Monica met for lunch. She said something along the lines "everything I've done is for love". Maybe she can't be with Victor because she is protecting him. She says its impossible for her to be with him.

You make a good point.  Maybe Monica is protecting Victor in some way.  Do you think that Victor would have used his investigating skills to do a background check on the love of his life or do you think that he would have taken Monica at her word?  What does everyone think?

I thought it was a very plausible theory but I do hope in book 4 we get the answers why as I think if she really loved Victor no money would jepordise that, look at Gideon, he would give up all his money to have Eva

Hi Sheens,

I think that Monica does love Victor deep down inside.  I think that the money is an excuse and I just can't figure out why?  I too, hope that we get our answers in book 4.  I would hate to drag this out to book five.  Maybe book five can be all about Gideon and his " mommy issues".  Let's get to the happily-ever-after already! :)

Sylvia said Monica's secret is addressed in book 4.

I thought so too :)

It does make some sense

Ladies, I can hardly wait!  After Monica slept with Victor, it set off huge bells for me!! There has to be something more to that storyline!  I am just so glad that we are finally going to get answers!!  :)  :)

Hi ladies

Useless bit of info.

The surname Tram(m)ell originated in Germany.

Hi Xfire,

I think that in order for Elizabeth Vidal to believe her son, she would need to admit that she made huge mistakes as a mother when Gideon was a boy.  I don't know how Eva could bring Elizabeth and Gideon together.  Every conversation that Eva has had with Elizabeth thus far has become increasingly hostile.  I know that Gideon listens to Eva's counsel, but I am not sure that Eva would in an emotionally fragile Gideon do deal with his mother.

Do you or any of the ladies have any ideas or theories about how Eva might help reconcile Gideon with his mother?  What does everyone think?

I agree that Elizabeth needs to admit her mistakes, she needs to believe in Gideon and ask for forgiveness. I think that Eva will help because she will be there for Gideon, he listens to her. Plus I think there may be a situation where Elizabeth confronts Eva and Gideon comes in on it , this will have him laying down an ultimatum to his mom. Maybe this will open Elizabeth's eyes to the fact that she needs to listen and talk to Gideon if she wants to be part of his life.

Well, migrating over Europe, is easy. The ancestry tree says, many emigrated to the USA. That's the Monica connection. :)

Hi Julie,

Sorry you lost me there for a bit.  What does Russia have to do with Europe?  We are talking about separate continents here and massive land space between the two.  Could you fill me in please?  Thanks in advance.  :)

Some of my ancestors emigrated from Russia and they were all sent by boat.  Some of the others wound up in the gulag (but  that's another story for another time) and Siberia.  I digress here...:)

Hi Xfire,

You make an interesting argument about how things might unfold between Gideon and his mother.  The theory is plausible.  I just hope that we get a few snippets and photos that will give us clues about what is  to come in the next book.

Hi Gigi

It was mentioned about Russian connections. I googled Eva's surname. It originated in Germany, and Bavaria.

No connection to Russia. But possible to move around the countries.
