Sylvia Day
What are your Goals for 2005? What things do you want to accomplish this upcoming year? (I started this thread in the Chat forum so that we can post all of our goals, not just writing. Think fitness, family, trips, books to be read, everything! )
Jaq
I think the 'no' button on your poll should be changed to 'Ha!' :D

Sylvia Day
I want to: [*]finish my anthology by deadline. [-o< [*]conceive my next story, pitch it, write it, turn it in. [*]learn everything there is to know about promoting a book. [*]find a balance between writing and cleaning my house. [*]lose the 12 lbs I've gained spending the last year of my life in an office chair. [*]strengthen my existing circle of online friends. :smt024 [*]really enjoy and learn a lot during my trip to Reno for the convention. [*]go on a weeklong (or longer) vacation with my family. [*]find more auto-buy authors. :study: [*]get back into the habit of going to the spa every couple of weeks for a pedicure. [*]find something to do with my long hair besides wear it wrapped up in a clip. [*]spend more time with my kids. I'll be adding more... Teresa in GA
Great topic. And you've got some great goals. Me, I haven't been thinking about setting any . . . yet. Right now my main goal is to get all my shopping done by Christmas. I'm close. But I'll be back to post some 2005 goals once I've sat down and thought through what I want to accomplish in 2005. HelenKay
Sylvia - Love the pedicure idea. We should all do that one My goals: -get in better shape (this is one of those EVERY year goals) -not get down about the trying-to-get-published journey -push myself out of my comfort zone - I tend to be an introvert and lurker on the blogs and boards -stay focused and keep plugging away in my writing life -not let my day job get me down -balance work and family a bit better -not sweat the little things -get my manuscript to Alison (35 pages only- don't panic Alison) in a reasonable time so she can do the critique HelenKay
jordansummers
I haven't decided what my goals will be yet. I definitely want to get into fighting shape again. I'm going to think about them while I'm abroad. They need to change from what I originally put. I think I'm going to consider Sherrilyn's pearls of wisdom before putting them to paper. Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday. 'See' you soon. Jordan
Stephanie Tyler
I'm still mulling over my list of goals :-k ...already have talked about my big writing one on the blog (finishing rough drafts) but plan to be back soon with a more complete list Love the idea of the WORD group together forever kind of thing too... =D>
Evangeline Kelly
I'm still thinking, but here's a few off the top of my head:(BTW, what's WORD? Can anyone join it? It sounds fantastic.) Narrow my time frame for each manuscript to four months each. Live with the internet, not in it. Learn how to properly balance my time. Learn how to fence, knit and drive a car. Read more books outside of romance genre. Take plunges when needed and hold myself back when needed.
Sylvia Day
BTW, what's WORD? Can anyone join it? It sounds fantastic. Evangeline, The WORD Challenge is an informal alternative to the NaNoWriMo challenge in November. :smt024 :whip: It's a month long "Write OR Die" month to meet whatever goal you set for yourself. We'll be doing it again. :)
Teresa in GA
Everyone has some great goals. I'm impressed! I'm still working mine out but I hope to have them by tonight or tomorrow. Then I'll be back to post.

Sylvia Day
I was too busy to make my goal, too. November is a really bad month for writing challenges! So we should change it to another month. It's our challenge, we can do it whenever we want to!! :(
cece
So we should change it to another month. It's our challenge, we can do it whenever we want to!! So why do we only have ot do it once a year? Or maybe we can come up with some other sort of accoutability/goal setting system and save WORD as a yearly thing? Maybe do mini-WORDS :(
Sasha White
What about one in the Spring and one in the fall? Everyone is always really motivated in the New Year because it's well, a NEW YEAR. lol But a Spring (say April or May) and a Fall (Sept) could be a good way to work it. Stephanie Tyler
Okay - time for a few goals here from sick-central :sad4: finish rough draft of a book before moving onto the next one (this is my biggest goal) :axe: make more time to just read :study: continue my love affair with the treadmill (it's helping - slowly but surely) try and find/borrow/buy more patience  clean out my closets...after three years of trying to fit back into stuff - whatever doesn't fit now is certainly not in fashion anymore anyway  (maybe this means shopping spree!) I think Cece has this on the bottom of her email - something about never giving up on a dream, because the time is going to pass anyway (probably a terrible paraphrase) - but it's a great saying...goes along with the not getting impatient about this whole publishing process. Will try and enjoy the writing process. :smt024 I'm sure I will think of more. *waving Hi to HelenKay* :hello2:
