  1. Hi Smartyj55,

A lot of these questions have been hotly debated on the "Spoiler" thread.  If you have the time or the inclination, feel free to read that thread.  Once you start reading, you will find that the time will fly by.  You will know who wrote what and who had which opinion.  You can then make up your mind for yourself.  I hope that helps.

    Thank you!

  2. We don't know the whole story yet but he didn't confirm the abuse when Gideon reported it.  His mom took him to be examined by Dr. Lucas and Lucas said he didn't see any indication of abuse. Hopefully we will find out more in Book 3

Thank you so much! My friend who just finished the books asked me that and I had to pause and think. I thought I missed something. Thank you!! xoxo

  3. Gideon's side of the hatred

    • All Gideon told Eva about why he hates Lucas is that Lucas somehow "alienate" him from his (Gideon's family.)
    • Lucas is a pediatrician. Based on Lucas' current age, around the time Gideon was sexually abused, Lucas would have recently finished medical school.
    • We know from what Elizabeth Vidal said to Eva when Eva confronted her about how damaged Gideon is because of something sexual likely having happened to him when he was young, Elizabeth Vidal defended herself that exams by two separate pediatricians (supposedly) turned up no evidence.
    • Gideon was branded as a messed up liar, and his sexual abuse accusations were illegally hushed up so that no outside authorities got involved, as they ought to have over mere accusations, regardless of what physical exams did or did not show.
    • Circumstances strongly suggest Lucas was one of the pediatricians involved.
    • It's pretty apparent, as well, Gideon's love for his mother was utterly destroyed because she failed him.
    • Gideon confessed to Eva (in North Carolina) he'd hurt Lucas by having an affair with Lucas' wife.

    Lucas' side of the hatred

    • Lucas' wife, Anne, came on to Gideon sexually sometime in the not too distant past. At the time, she would have been in her early 40s and Gideon would have been a totally hot 20-something.
    • At first, Gideon brushed her off as just another woman throwing herself at him. But then, he found out she was Lucas' wife.
    • So Gideon jumped at the chance for a revenge f***. At the time, he planned it to be a one-night stand.
    • But she kept coming back for more. In what Gideon would lately be deeply ashamed of himself for doing, he continued to f*** her. Thus she started carrying on a full-fledged extra marital affair.
    • Gideon claimed to himself he never deliberately made any promises or did anything like telling her he loved her.
    • However, he let things go on until Anne was ready to leave her husband for Gideon.
    • Then he broke it off and sent her broken back to her husband.
    • Based on a little totally unrelated research Eva did on Lucas via Google, it would appear the Lucases are still married.
    • Lucas is firmly convinced Gideon is a mentally disturbed man who hates women and gets off by emotionally abusing them -- taking them on incredible highs and then destroying them.
    • Obviously, Lucas is colored by the fact Gideon actually did engage in that sort of abusive pattern with Anne.
    • Dr. Lucas, if he was involved with the sex abuse investigation of Gideon as a child, would have enough inside information about Gideon's mental health history to know that Gideon actually did have serious problems as a kid (problems that started with how Gideon's father died when Gideon was five.)
    • At a time when Eva was most miserable and vulnerable, because Gideon at the time was emotionally manipulating her (distancing her so he could kill Nathan) Lucas ran into Eva, and he jumped at the chance to plant seeds of poison in her mind.

The one time we saw Gideon, Eva and Lucas all together in immediate proximity was when the three of them plus Corrine were all seated together at dinner during the fundraiser Corrine crashed.

    • It was true that Gideon completely ignored Eva at the table, all of his attention focused on Corrine. (Idiot - one of Gideon's biggest screw ups!)
    • Lucas witnessed everything, including how miserable Eva was, and he spent the meal keeping her company.
    • After the meal was done, Lucas invited Eva to go to the bar with him for a drink. When Eva went to leave, Gideon (who at least had held her hand during dinner) suddenly became aware of her -- and of Lucas with her.
    • Gideon tried to order Eva to stay put.
    • In front of everyone within ear shot, Lucas essentially humiliated Gideon for having mistreated Eva by ignoring her in favor of Corrine.
    • Things got worse for Gideon when Eva told him Lucas was right.
    • Then Eva "safeworded" Gideon and walked away. About a minute later, Gideon got a text from Eva claiming she wasn't running - just leaving.
    • But of course, Eva was pulling a runner, one that would have especially terrified Gideon under the circumstances. Perhaps it dawned on him he had very serious screwed up things with her. She'd never safeworded him, either.

Serisouly you are amazing! Thank you so much this is beyond what I had expected to get as an answer xoxo

  4. What a great sneak peek! Ok some questions. How far is Gideon going to go with the lie with Corrine? Are they going to appear as though they are a couple? How far can he go with the lie and not sleep with her? Wouldn't she think it is strange that they are back together but he won't sleep with her? Would she tell the police that he acting strange? Do we think that Deanna slept with Gideon and now she is jealous? (join the club! lol) So many questions!

  5. I also tried to get my husband to read these books and he said no way. So I tried reading him some of the naughty parts and he blushed! He said he didn't know what was weirder that I was reading this or that his sister told me to read them lol! But he is enjoying me reading let me tell you ;)

  6. LOL - Thanks Mrs C .. I just sugguested that on the other thread   :)    Also might say not to post spoiler stuff of Facebook or Twitter at for a coupe of days until everyone has a chance to read it .

Totally agree! I was so bummed when the last Sookie Stackhouse book was spoiled on FB and people wouldn't put SPOILER on their threads....but I have no worries with you lovies :)

  7. nathan went to see Gideon to show him photos of Eva being tortured and raped, wanting money for not showing them to the media. Gideon seeing them probably blew a gasket hitting Nathan, struggling knocking furniture askew. Hence Eva thinking Gideon was cheating on her with Corrine. The lipstick was actually blood from Nathan .

Julie thank you so much! Now it all makes sense :)

  8. I think Corrine, all of a sudden desperate because of how Gideon ran after Eva the night before, showed up unannounced hoping to see him. Trying to catch him at lunchtime was her best bet -- probably her only bet. Chasing Gideon over the telephone wasn't going to cut it anymore -- Corrine needed to start chasing him in person. She was probably counting on him seeing her.

My guess: when she arrived, she saw Angus parked at the curb, where Angus was supposed to drive Gideon to a lunch meeting offsite (one Gideon blew off because of the crisis he had going on upstairs, Nathan in his office.) Corrine probably lurked in the lobby waiting to catch Gideon as he came through. Then she spotted Eva through the front glass walls of the lobby, standing across the street. On evil impulse, pulled the "stunt." Went out to see Angus, who by that point figuring Gideon wasn't coming down after all, offered to drive Corrine home.

Note: Angus would have known Corrine fairly well while she and Gideon were engaged. Angus started working for Gideon at age 20. Gideon and Corrine were together for three years, roughly his age 18 to 21. The final year, they were engaged. So Angus must have driven Corrine a lot.

Love Angus, though, that morning Eva hopped in the Bentley, after days and days and days of refusing rides. Then Eva ordered him to drive her to Corrine's residence. Hah!!! Angus must have thought "oh s***" inside, but he did what Eva asked.

Thank you! But wait woah woah woah I am so lost. Forgive my ignorance but Nathan was in the room with Gideon? Or did he just get back from doing what he had to do to Nathan and that is why it looked like lipstick on his shirt when it was really blood? Sorry again I am a little slow sometimes ;)

  9. OMG, this is great!!! I'll bet Sylvia is going to love this when she reads it :)

I especially like "The Unresolved Cerebrally Humorous Arguments". Hah!!! Subtitle: Gideon's Little Head Is Doing All The Thinking - And His Big Head Is Clueless"

Having fun with your clever system, I've got a few to add:

Chapter 2: Eva Doesn't Play Hard To Get -- She IS Hard to Get

    Result: Gideon's Got Blue Balls

Chapter 4: Gideon Can't Handle This Anymore

Result: He's Still Not Getting Any Yet - But He Gets Closer

Chapter 6: Gideon Finally Gets Some

    Result: Gideon Can't Handle It

Chapter 8: Gideon Finally Gets A Girlfriend

Result: Gideon Doesn't Know How To Handle It

Chapter 10: Gideon Almost Loses Her

    Result: Gideon's Got Issues

    I love this!

  10. the only other explanation I can think of Nathan being at the Crossfire the day Monica saw him which was a week after the lipstick/Corrine incident would be that he was stalking Eva or was there to try and intimidate Eva at her work.......

I am so glad you brought this up about the whole lipstick fiasco. Can someone please explain this to me? Did Corrine see Gideon that day that she was at the Crossfire Bldg or was she there to see someone else and just make Eva jealous?

  11. I better have my book EWY, Barnes and Noble! LOL!

I probably should schedule a vacation day from work on June 5!

I'll probably read EWY too fast--the first time..

The second time I read EWY, I will take it slow and savor every word...

Then, I will come on this site to see what you all think!

OMG it is nice to know that someone else reads like me! I do the same thing. I rush thru it the first time, ok ok blah blah get to the good stuff lol. Then I have to go back and reread it to make sure I got all the little details :)

  12. in Reflected, Gideon hurt Eva badly, so much so she dumped him. I can't see him bedding Corrine to keep up the lie. That would crucify Eva, even if she knew the truth.

Totally agree! I just meant I hope she can handle more pictures of them together and looking happy. I don't think he would or could bed Corrine knowing how obsessed and in love with Eva he is.

  13. I've got two separate theories:

    1. More of Gideon continuing to deliberately manipulate the media, especially the tabloids, via continuing to appear in public with Corrine even though he is now secretly seeing Eva.
    2. The cops leaking the story to the media that a former step family member of socialites Eva Trammel and her mother Monica Stanton had been found murdered a couple of weeks earlier in New York City. I'm sure the media would mention why Eva is famous enough to be tabloid fodder -- she recently had a hot and heavy thing going on with celebrity billionaire Gideon Cross.

    Why I like # 1 better:

I can see Gideon and Eva making a pact in Chapter One that whatever the danger, they find a way to spend stolen time together. In order to lessen the risk, Gideon is going to need to keep up the public lie he's seeing Corrine. Eva will be willing to put up with that, now that she knows the truth about why Gideon started living that lie.

His public behavior at the start of Entwined would be a continuation of what he started doing halfway through Reflected. Especially because we know he deliberately set things up to have himself photographed with Corrine on at least two separate occasions the week of the murder. And those are just the ones we know about, because Eva saw those. She quit looking after the picture of the party at the hotel, but Gideon was continuing to spend time with Corrine. Eva caught him red-handed coming out of the Crossfire with Corrine a couple of weeks later.

    Why I think #2 is a possibility

Maybe the cops want to continue to turn up the heat on Gideon and Eva, including even draw out of the woodwork people who might know something. Such as a witness who can place Gideon near Nathan's hotel the night of the murder. Or perhaps make it harder for Eva to walk around in public unnoticed, because suddenly she'd be back in the news again, this time for something even juicier than being Gideon's now-former girlfriend.

I completely agree with the #1 possibility. It sounds like that is the best idea for them to do. I am just curious how far Gideon will take it with Corrine to make it look real...hopefully not too realistic poor Eva! That girl is already a jealous mess. Though I will say there was definite growing on both ends in the last book.

  14. Hi Everyone! My name is Jen and I am 29 from Los Angeles. I feel in love with Sylvia's writing just recently. I was astonished that there was a fantastic adult novel that was really well written! The most exciting part for me when reading the Crossfire Series was that it felt realistic (as crazy as that may sound). I am really excited to meet some more Sylvia Fan's and discuss these great books!
