  2. KB--I LOVED the Gabriel series.  There are 2 so far and the third in Dec.  I am in the middle of the KGI series.  They are totally and completely different series.  The KGI series is like a mystery series with love and romance mixed in.  The male characters are kind of like mercenaries but for good.  Gabriel is a professor of Dante at the University of Toronto.  The books mix in art, music, and literature.  Very romantic.  I remember Gigi wanted books that followed one couple.  Gabriel series does that where the KGI books follow a lot of couples.  Hope that helps.

Thank you!  Decision made... I'll start with the Gabriel series.  :)

  3. I'm debating between starting the KGI or the Gabriel series... hmmm.  Inputs on which is better?

I skimmed the list and didn't see these, so I thought I'd share.  I just finished the Highlander series and really liked them.  They are very easy reads ~300 pages or so each.

Karen Marie Moning - Highlander Series

    Beyond the Highland Mist

    To Tame a Highland Warrior

    The Highlander's Touch

    Kiss of the Highlander

    The Dark Highlander

    The Immortal Highlander

    Spell of the Highlander

  4. FUN!!

  5. Oh and WTF was up with Eva telling Ireland that she was close to loving Brett and she could have loved him if the circumstances were different?  She told Gideon she didn't love him and then that?

I was happy when I read the part when Eva tells Gideon how Corrine made her think they had sex and he replied "Well, that changes things considerably.  Corrine and I no longer have anything to talk about."  Or whatever it was... then Gideon proceeds to run to Corrine MULTIPLE times and she keeps shady business going on with Brett.

Brett and Corrine both need to GO AWAY!  Like NOW!

  6. I didn't like that Eva let Brett nuzzle her cheek and she was breathing too fast while he was doing it in her apartment and that she was reluctant for him to leave ,that's what makes me nervous about the trip the attraction seems too intense for comfort .

All of the Brett / Eva encounters really p!ssed me off.  How would she feel if she found out that Gideon thought about how f###able Corrine is when he sees her?  Grrr.... I will throw my book across the room if she so much as kisses Brett again!

  7. Oh I think it definitely was someone looking to protect Gideon -- and we'll ultimately learn who.

I found it odd that he'd supposedly asked Raul to start investigating the bracelet thing, not Angus.

I wondered about Raul being the one looking into it too, but then I realized... That's when they are getting married and Gideon would rather have Angus there for that. I also think that's why he had Angus following Eva around during Reflected. Angus is his #2 and he trusts him more than anyone else.

I do think Angus was involved, to some extent, because the only time Raul showed up for Eva instead of Angus was the day after Nathan's murder.

  8. No the question I was thinking about from the start,,, before we were allowed to talk about it was the whole Russian mob/Nathan conection...that really didnt play into Graves explanation...the detectives really had no idea about that...as I said in the pre spoiler time I think that this is going to be a key element in book 4,,,that tie in

I was only asking about how Gideon killed Nathan. The Russian thing didn't happen till after. I don't think Nathan was connected to them at all. I think all the photos and bracelet were planted with that guy to give the cops a dead murderer to close the case.

  9. Hmmm... questions for Sylvia....

Did Nathan's murder really go down the way Detective Grave's told Eva?  We know she was right about Gideon's alibi, but still don't know if that's really how it went down.

Can you PLEASE ship Corrine off to parts unknown?  Oh and throw Brett, the Lucas', Deanna, and Tatiana off the ship too... :)  I will say that I actually liked Brett, but Eva told him flat out that she loves Gideon.  He still pushes after that and even talks about getting inside her, etc.  JERK

Will we get to "hear" the recorded conversation between Gideon and Victor?  Something fishy there... Victor thought Gideon was cheating on Eva and then BAM, he gives his blessings for a proposal?  It makes me wonder if Victor knows what Gideon did to protect Eva.  Hmmm... my mind runs in circles thinking about this!

Will we get to know more about Angus in 4 & 5?  I like him.  :)

  10. Want to hear a sad / funny story?

I was up really late last night listening to the audio version of Entwined. I work from home and have flexible hours so I ended up just working till it was over. I came on here for a bit and finally went to sleep around 3 am.

I started waking up, but was feeling really out of it and hit snooze on my alarm. Then it hit me, "Today is Friday and everyone is probably already talking about the book!" I jumped out of bed, tripped over my dog and fell fell right into the wall. Then I grabbed my phone and saw THURSDAY on the screen. Ugh

Lol my arm hurts from where I hit the wall. That's what happens when you get too excited and aren't quite awake yet! :)

  11. I found this thread really interesting! I had a similar reaction to this part of the book the first time I read it. Huh? Wait, what? Lol. It made a little more sense once I was on my second read and felt like I knew the characters better.

I probably wouldn't have reacted the same to the conversation if I had read Bared to You before Fifty Shades of Grey. I had Christian Grey style Dom/Sub dynamics in my head when I read this and it threw me. I didn't see Gideon and Eva like that at all.

I was also confused by that convo because at one point he said that she can top him anytime she wants... But than later he tells her he won't be topped and not to misunderstand indulgence for weakness. Something like that. I need to mark those spots on my next read through to see if I misunderstood or something.

  12. HI KBisMe,

Welcome to the forum! We haven't met before. I hope you enjoy yourself! In response to your comments I agree with you completely. I sometimes wonder whether people feel like they are standing in front of firing squads if they have to read yet another book in a series (I am absolutey KIDDING here). I think that is the only thing that would make sense to me (kidding again).

I really liked Sylvia's previous short novella "All Revved Up" of which there is supposed to be another one coming out soon (fingers crossed, wink, wink). I also really liked some of her short stories. Apparently she is supposed to be coming out with a new series "Afterburn" and "Aftershock" but I am not sure when those are coming out. Have you tried Fifty Shades of Grey? EL James is a lovely author and her writing kept me engaged for all three books. Other than that I would have to ask; which types are you interested in? Right now I am reading "The Optimist's Daughter" by Eudora Welty (not bad). I tried to get into Sylvia Plath's "The Bell Jar" but after starting it I wanted to stick my head in an oven (ok, ok, really bad bun here, just kidding). I think I will have to save that book for another rainy gloomy day. I also finished Fyodor Dostoyevsky's "Crime and Punishment" (now that was a dude who had some serious issues!). Let me know and I will do my best to try and recommend a great read and if not a great read then a fun summer read.

    Hi GiGi!

Thank you! I'm so glad I found this forum. I haven't posted much, but I love the vibe here. What a great group of people!

Lol I was cracking up reading your post. I read Fifty Shades of Grey and really enjoyed it. I had to see what all the hype was about and understood once I started reading. That's how I found the Crossfire series. I finished Fifty and googled around seeing what people who liked that were recommending.

I love to read and am open to anything. I am reading The Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R. Ward and love it! I've read all of Nicholas Sparks books, Game of Thrones by George R.R. Martin, the Fever series by Karen Marie Moning, all of Richard Paul Evans books, Twilight series, Harry Potter series, etc etc etc. I'm not too into horror or mystery type books, but am pretty open all around.

I'll definitely check out the "All Revved Up" novella! I have thoroughly enjoyed these Crossfire books and definitely want to read more by Sylvia.

  13. Good morning blessed Julie,

I have to say, I was taken aback by all the hatred and hostility.  Personally I really liked the books and can hardly wait until the next books finally come out.  I swear I felt like it was Christmas morning when Sylvia announced that she was going to be writing another two books in the series.

I sometimes think that people who write such incredibly hateful things have other issues going on in their lives then on a single book.  I made a huge faux pas by reading the reviews.  I never do!  Oh well, you live and you learn.  I will never do that again!

I totally agree!  I was shaking my head while reading most of the reviews.  People who are going to freak out about waiting for a book shouldn't start an incomplete series, IMO.  Lashing out at the author is disrespectful and uncalled for.  I have so much respect for Sylvia Day and how she responds to the whiners and criticism.  It's obvious that she truly cares about her readers and doing this story justice.  I would much rather a series be extended than have it rushed.

I get excited and impatient waiting for books too, but I would never get angry and rude about it.  It irritates me when I see people acting like that.  I might be less sensitive to it because of my obsession with the Wheel of Time series though Lol.  That one started in 1990 and the final book was just released in January.  Robert Jordan passed away after book 11 (2005) and had left extensive notes for his wife (also his editor) to complete the final book.  Once they chose Brandon Sanderson to complete it... he and RJ's wife decided they needed to split the final book into 3.  Book 12 wasn't released until 2009 (4 years after the previous one).  Book 13 was roughly a year after that and then 14 was a little over 2 years later.  Sigh... now THAT was rough waiting.  :)

I will wait "patiently" for book 4 and whenever it gets close... I'll re-read 1-3 and get myself excited all over again!  Until then... I need another series to keep me distracted.  Lol  Any recommendations?

Okay do I have your attention now. :)I emailed Sylvia last night really just to encourage her with all of these baseless awful reviews, and to ask her a few questions. When she gets back from Australia she said she would pop on the board here to answer any questions we might have. I think that we should do a thread marked "Questions for Sylvia Regarding The Crossfire Series," and just put all of our unanswered questions in there. This way she can see them and then respond to whatever is not a spoiler. What does everyone think?

I'll read your post when I'm done drooling...  Sigh  :)
