  1. Just got to Eva's reveal to Gideon about her rape, in Bared.

Just how did Nathan become so evil at 12 years old. What happened to this poor child, to make him act the way he did. I can almost draw a comparison to Gideon, because they both lost a parent at a very early age. Yes Gideon had issues because of his dads death, but nothing that involved acts like Nathan carried out. But look how differently they turned out. Sad.

What if Nathan had been abused by his dad or his dad used to treat his mother maliciously? It seems to me as if he was he indirectly trying to punish his father and his new wife, by punishing Eva.

  2. Yeah, I continue to be baffled by why Eva is open about her engagement with coworkers and near strangers (at the Thursday evening benefit dinner) but didn't tell her mother when she had the opportunity as they were getting dressed for the dinner.  I can't imagine Monica not noticing Eva's new ring as they're sharing a dinner table together.  Everyone else seemed to notice!

As for the police/case against Gideon, I think the secret marriage might come into play, there, with Eva unable to be compelled to testify against Gideon.  Wouldn't that be a nice twist.

I'm still not sure who handed Gideon his Get Out of Jail Free card.  I think there are clues in the text to suggest it could be Clancy, but it could also have been Victor when he came back to New York after learning what Nathan did to Eva.  He was in the room when the police told Eva about Nathan's murder, and he saw Gideon's reaction.  He's supposed to be very perceptive.  And what *wouldn't* he do to protect his daughter and her happiness?  Victor has holes in his day that are presently unaccounted for - he couldn't have been sleeping with Monica from 9-5, surely - and his arrival was also suspect, as he didn't let Eva know exactly when he'd be arriving or what his flight details were and she couldn't get in touch with him all day.  Then he met her at baggage claim at a particular time, saying he just arrived.  But he could've have gotten to NYC hours earlier . . .

I think that Eva might be subconsciously trying to punish her mother by not telling her, knowing how much it would mean to her if she knew. She might have not yet told Cary yet because she doesn't want to pile anymore dirt on him, the "pregnancy" is hectic enough.

About Victor, they only mentioned the new suspect after he was in NYC, so perhaps he planted the bracelet, and used his position as a cop to try and get it from the forensic office. If this is the case, then I think that Detective Graves might have helped him somehow, perhaps she was the one who even told him about Nathan in the first place.

  3. Hello ladies,

What if Gideon, unknowingly, met the Russian mob during the days he used to gamble. Perhaps he conned them and they were keeping track on him for all these years, hoping to find the right moment to make him pay.  So on that day, they followed him to the hotel, saw what he did and planted the bracelet on another guy, so that they could use it to black mail him.

Or someone who knows what he has done, was working for the mob and him.

    Is it far-fetched?

Alternatively, Nathan might have owed money to the mob and had promised to give them cash and Eva, that's why he was blackmailing the Stanton and Gideon for money. But then, they came after him when he was able to pay; therefore, maybe was not dead after Gideon left- stab wounds to the hurt, do not necessarily result in instantaneous death.  If you were to stab someone, the hurt bleeds into the myochadial muscle, it continues to pump blood.

  4. hi Gigi

The nightmares are going to be with him for a long while. I googled this condition. Therapy and drugs control it, but it doesn't go away. He may make peace with his mother(we hope he does)but he is now having nightmares over Nathan's death. This poor man is haunted by his past.

I really hope he makes peace with his mum because I think he really loves her, but he is just angry and hurt by her. The sooner Elizabeth and Gideon work things out, the better.

  5. I agree. Nearly every time she talks to him or sees him, she's still talking about how hot he is....how great his body is....how seductive his voice is. If she had truly let go by now, she wouldn't be nearly as phased by his looks or voice. She's still reconciling her feelings for him. And, finding out your ex that treated you like crap not only wants you back, but has been using you as his muse? Well if that's not an ego boost, I don't know what is. I think she's using his interest in the same way she used to use the s*x...as a cheap way to make herself feel better. I don't think for a minute she'll cheat on gideon, but she needs Dr. Travis ASAP!

I have to agree that her thoughts are a bit worrisome. I don't see how she expects Gideon to cut all ties with Corrine, but will not do the same with Brett. I really hope she doesn't cheat on Gideon with him- it would be terrible for the both of them. I hope he goes away in the next books.

  6. Hello everybody from sunny (and too hot) Italy!!!!!

I married Gideon Geoffrey Cross barefoot on a Caribbean beach with the hotel manager and Angus McLeod as witnesses.....

this is the perfect ending to Gideon and Eva's perfect love. The first ten words never ever fail to  make my eyes all shiny... After all Gideon and Eva (and us with them) have gone through, they can now experience perfect bliss. And so do I!!!!!

A secret marriage on the beach..... arranged to the tiniest details by someone who used to say he didn't like romance!!!

I was a little troubled by the prenup. Although I understand the necessity of such an arrangement between two wealthy people who are going to share their life with one another, I really don't like it, because it points out and reminds us that everything has a price: sex, love, children...

But Gideon was actually only protecting his own heart against the remotest likelihood of Eva walking out on him.  "There's nothing I wouldn't do for you" he tells Eva in RIY, which apparently includes giving up most of his wealth as well. As though killing Nathan wasn't enough!!!. His lawyers must have had a really hard time in convincing him otherwise.

I have to agree with you about the prenup; my heart sunk when I saw the words. I am glad it isn't a traditional one, but I wasn't too impressed by the clause of Eva receiving money, every time they had a child together.
