  1. Hi Moonfeather,

I have added the second book to the Master List. Could you please tell me what the English translations is of the second book? I tried to look for it yesterday and I wasn't able to find it. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    GiGi :)

The title of the 2nd book is "Hard Limits", thats how i should translate it. (Just like the bdsm terms of the hard and soft limits).

  2. Hi Moonfeather,

I located the author that you mentioned:

    • Marique Maas (a.k.a. Esther Verhoef) Books: Walls Of Glass Series
    • Muren Van Glas/The Encounter

I read the synopsis and it sounds really interesting. I am wondering if I can find a Dutch translation. I am keeping my fingers crossed. Thank you for your suggestion. It has been added to the Updated Master List. Thanks again.

    GiGi :)

Muren van glas- De ontmoeting is the dutch translation.

I've read it myself and found it a enjoyable read! Cant wait for part 2 "Harde Grenzen" , i really want to know what Daniels issues are. I say if u get the chance to read it, just do it :-)

  3. Hi Moonfeather,

I looked up Indigo Bloome and I noticed that she has the Avalon Trilogy:

    1. Indigo Bloome Books:  Avalon Trilogy
    • Destined To Play
    • Destined To Feel
    • Destined To Fly

Is this the series that you saw or is it another series?  I haven't personally read her books but would be interested in knowing what others have thought about her books.

I have added her to the Master List.  Thanks for your suggestion.

    GiGi :)

    Hi GiGi!

According to the name of the novels yet it should be the same! I did not find out that it was called the Avalon Triology, so that why i thought it had another name. Still im curious if someone has read it on this forum and what their opinion is.

Now there is in the Netherlands a dutch writer who has come with an answer to the FSOG series: Marique Maas is the author. I don't know if the series are going to be translated, but it is worth to keep an eye out for it. If i translate it to the letter it is called: Walls of Glass series.

Only the first part has been released and the 2nd on is coming out on the 26th of september.

  4. Hiya everyone!!

I was browsing in a bookstore today and i came across this writer Indigo Bloom. Has anyone ever read one of her books? She has written Disigned to Play, Disigned to Feel and Designed to Fly, so i guess it is the Designed series? I'm not sure since it is translated very differently in my native language. I wasn't sure whether i should buy it or not and read some reviews, which are mixed ofcourse. So i hoped one of you ladies had read it?!

  5. Hi Sharon,

What I find most troubling is that Anne Lucas seems to have connected Eva and Cary as being friends and roommates.  She has gone out of her way to seduce Cary...for what purpose; I don't know yet.  Those actions to me, suggest a woman that has gone from thinking about thoughts of revenge to acting out on a plan.

It is obvious that Anne had a reason for trying to seduce Cary, what it is yet, I don't know.  I am sure that she will use anyone and everyone to get to Gideon, but for what reason; revenge, delusions, etc.  I don't know that either.

You are absolutely correct in that Anne is the most dangerous person right now.  I have been thinking that for quite a while, but what is yet to be determined is how much does Anne know about Gideon's accusations against her brother?  Did her husband fill her in on what was going on?  Or is there another reason, that we the readers aren't aware of yet, for Anne to want to seek revenge?  Time will tell.

    GiGi

    GiGi

It wasn't that hard for Anne to connect the dots between Cary and Eva, since Eva met dr Lucas in the hospital when Cary was administrated there. And if my memory serves me right, Eva and Cary were photografed together right? She only had to wait for the oppertunity to meet Cary in person and make her move. My thoughts are that Anne wants to hook up with Cary to eventually come closer to Eva. Her main goal is to hurt Gideon through one of his loved ones, Eva. And she is fixed on reaching her goal no mater what, ergo the end justifies the means.

She lost her brother and she must live with that pain/empty hole for the rest of her life, and she wants the same experience for Gideon. Also her being shoved to the side by Gideon doesn't make things any better.

Just another crazy thought of mine and i hope that i can explain it properly. Dr Lucas knew Anne was having dirty time with Gideon, he also knew that Anne was dumped by Gideon. Dr Lucas is angry at Gideon, but for what reason? The fact that G&A slept with eachother or the fact that G dumped A? If there was a plan behind the affair between Gideon and Anne, then i understand why dr Lucas is p**sed off to ay the least.

What was the original thought of Anne to hunt Gideon and have an affair with him? Was it just l u s t?  Was it damagecontrol? Was it that Dr Lucas is impotent and couldn't give Anne what she needs? Was it revenge for her brother? If it was revenge, then how was the plan suppost to be unfolded, since there was noone at that time to be a perfect pawn to play out Gideon (like Eva is at this moment). Was it something else and Anne fell inlove afterall, which wasn't the plan?

I hope you all ,can follow my ramly thoughts and share your lights/thoughts on it!

  6. Julia Stone - This Love ( Egokind Edit )

Could be a nice song for in Primal, indie house, guitar with a nice beat and very dancable ( ofc lyrics are appropiate)

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MixHMPCjrdA

I can feel your heart beat when I'm all alone
I can feel your heart beat like it's my own

I can hear your music from a million miles away
The angles got right when they made you
    The way they made you
Sometimes I wonder if you're made from bones and skin
Or are you something for me to begin again, again

    This love, this love
    This love, this love

I will build you a mountain
    So you can see
All the away across the universe to me

I will build you shelter for when the days are cold
I will be your shelter for when were old and kind

This love, this love, this love, this love
This love, this love, this love, this love

  7. Hi Gabri--

You are so right.  I live on the east coast of the US where people are more liberal.  But, one of my closest friends lives about 100 miles away in the central part of Pennsylvania.  It is sickening how anti everything they are there.  Much of our country still is struggling with many issues Europeans have long ago settled.  And, yes, if women ran things, I think the world would certainly been more accepting.

I am rereading the series.  After reading here the past few months I decided to reread with new insight.  Maggie and Corinne are just so despicable.  I don't know women like them but I certainly know they exist.  The scene that grabbed me was the first time Gideon had his major nightmare at Eva's.  Knowing what I know now, my heart just broke for both of them.  What I did wonder is why Gideon never went for therapy before.  Could it be that until Eva he never spent a night with a woman before?  I haven't gotten to the part where they discuss this and I forget.  I just love these 2.

I think Gideon never went to therapy, because was abused by one. Or rather the trainee of a therapist/shrink. He only goes to Dr. Peterson because Eva suggested it to him. It is possible that he never spent a night with a woman before, since he used to have loose flings. But how about Corinne? They were engaged for 2 years, and it seems very odd that he did not sleep in the same bed as her during that time.

  8. Hi Gigi and thanks for your comments.

What prompted me to say what I did is an interview I read a little while back with a British actor--I think his name is Rupert something--who was known as a leading man.  He said that coming out was the worst thing he ever did for his career.  He was sorry he came out professionally. I guess because my brother is gay I think a lot about these issues.  He is a very successful businessman and he has to hide his sexuality even though he is married and with the same man for 23 years.  It's all about money and what TPTB think will make the most.  I also remember when Sean Hayes won a Tony for his role and the NY Times criticized because he played a straight man.  That was maybe 2 or 3 years ago.  I think Europeans are more advanced than we are here in the US.

Well, I'm European and to specify it a bit more I'm from The Netherlands. In general we are pretty tolerant about gay people. Tv hosts, actors, writers, poets you name it it is for the most part ok. Ofcourse there are areas where it is less likable to announce you are gay, for example in soccer. And don't forget that there are plenty of people who say being gay is a sin ( mostly the very religious people ) or are homophobic.

And if we talk about Europe in general, i think in most countries it is pretty accepted nowadays, but there are still areas where it is better to keep your mouth shut ( some slavic regions )

If i may speak from the heart, I see it like this ( and I'm a mix of dutch and slavic herritage ): Change the world, begin with yourself and treat others how you like to be treated. Being gay doesnt change your skills, your talents, your kindness or any other thing. I wished more people would see it like this...

  9. When Sylvia said Christopher wouldn't be big in Entwined I think she mentioned that Christopher was going to be in book 4.  I think we learn something about him.

I think so aswell. Sylvia mentioned that the first 3 books were mainly about Eva's problems and not so much about Gideons'. And in book 4 and 5 the focus is more on Gideons' problems, and 1 of them is his relation with/to Chris jr.

  10.

I'm a little surprised by these comments about Hollywood.  I always felt that the entertainment industry is very accepting of all actors.  If you look back in Hollywood history there were/are many leading men who are gay.  Most people in the industry knew even if the general public didn't.  One person who jumps out immediately is Richard Chamberlain.  He didn't confirm the rumors until he was in his late 50s.  IMO a good actor, regardless of their sexual preference, can make you forget about the real man or woman and take you into the story on the screen.

Indeed! And in this perspective i still think that Matt Bomer is a very sexy Mr. Grey :)

  11. Thanks for your splendid summary! I indeed forgot those!

You missed some. My daughter read Twilight but I wasn't interested until after I read FSOG. The only reason I read the book was to see if I could see the similarities.

    • The description of the Cullen home is very similar to Christian's penthouse especially the floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom & living room, furniture, piano.
    • Security by being removed from others (penthouse or middle of the woods)
    • Music and skills playing the piano is a gift bother Christian & Edward posses.
    • Ana went on a trip to visit her mom on the beaches of N.C. Bella escaped to her mom's on the beaches of Fl.
    • Ana saved Mia, and Christian by facing Jack even though Christian thought she was too weak to take care of herself. Bella saved the Cullen's with skills that they didn't think she had.
    • Christian is adopted by a doctor who saved him when he was a child. Edward is "adopted" by a doctor who saved him as a child.

There are others but I can't think of them right now. I read FSOG multiple times but I only read Twilight once and it was awhile ago.

  12. This is for  all the fans of FSOG and non readers of the twilight series.

Yesi I've read it to that E.L James wrote FSOG as an adult fanfiction version of the Twilightseries. I believe that some of the original writings are still floating on the internet somehwere. Now I haven't read Twilight, but I've seen the movies and listen to some audio books, but I did read FSOG. I can see how Twilight was used as in inspiration to write FSOG; i shall do my best to explain it but it will be a shortcut though. ( it can contains spoilers!!!)

    Twilight:

    * Is set in Forks, Washington, with Seattle as the biggest main town

    * A love between a human girl Bella ( she is 17-18 years old ) and a Vampire Edward ( he was transformed into a vampire at the age of 17 but in actual human years he is 109, but he still looks 17 because vampire don't age after transformation)

    * Edward wants and loves Bella, but is also affraid to ruin her soul and at some points he thinks he isn't good enough for her and wishes for her a happy human life and to be pure.

    * Bella wants to become a vampire so she can spend forever with Edward, she isn't affraid of him , eventhough he must drink blood to survive.

    * Bella is a bit of a tomboy, she is very clumsy, two left feet, not very fashionable, brown hair, brown eyes

    * Edward has "out of bed" hair

    * When they break up at one point, Bella is devistated and is pretty much a living zombie

    * Problems are usually caused by a third party ( Victoria other vampire not realted to Edward, the Volturi the vampire bosses )

    * Bella gets preggers

    * They live happy ever after

    * There is another guy who is in love with Bella, Jacob ( a werewolf )

    * Bellas' father loves fishing

    FSOG:

    * Set in Seattle, Washington and Portland, Oregon

    * A love between an English student Ana ( 22 yrs old ) and Christian ( 26 or 28 (?) yrs old )

    * Christian wants and loves Ana, but doens't want to taint her with his past, he wants her to be pure

    * Ana want to get to the core of Christian no matter what

    * Ana is clumsy also, not very fashionable either, brown hair, blue eyes

    * Christian has messy hair aswell

    * Ana is also a living zombie during the break up with Christian

    * Problems are usually caused by a third party ( Leila, Mrs Robinson, Ana her boss Jack, is i remember correctly )

    * Ana gets preggers

    * They live happy ever after

    * There is another guy who is in love with Ana ( that Latino guy )

    * Anas'father loves fishing

I know that a lot of what i typed can apply to many lovestories, but i hope you get the general idea.

  13. Hi GiGi!

Totally my bad, i totally forgot he was a kids doc. But still he could have messed something up with tests behind the scenes. Especially if the theory is correct that Anne isCorrine her psych. After all we read this whole situation through Eva her eyes.

    Hi Moonfeather,

Which Dr. Lucas are you referring to? It was my understanding that Dr. Lucas was a pediatrician and that Anne Lucas was a psychiatrist. Are you thinking that one of the Dr. Lucas' is an OB/GYN? Your clarification would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :)

    Guten Tag Meine Liebe SME,

I really enjoyed the Fifty Shades of Grey series.

OH, I don´t know whay but I am so happy about his.

I found EL James' writing style to be very refreshing.  Her English references didn't bother me in the least (Canada and England have the same language system, THIS I DO KNOW ).

I honestly didn't understand why so many people got upset by her use of English references? WELL, EL James lives in ENGLAND! But we haven´t this complaint here.

If an author has a writing style that I am not familiar with (e.g. Leo Tolstoy), then I make a pet project to look up any sayings or wordings to understand their meaning.  I look at it as an opportunity to learn something new.

OH YES! WE ARE SIMILAR HERE, A G A I N! I do so the same.

EL James' list of music references was WONDERFUL!!!  I wasn't familiar with some of the artists such Nitin Sawhney and it was Fantastic!!! ME, too! A lot I didn´t know before!

I loved every single thing about the books!!  I am only sad that the story ended!  I know that there are many people that read the series only for the se* and I think that it is a little sad.  Ms. James' books offer so much more than just "mommy p***" (not my favourite saying by the way- it is really disrepectful of women and mothers in general).

AH, this is so good to hear! YOU HAVE to read the fanfiction of SASHACAMERON.COM. She is writing the whole story from the POV of KATE and Elliot and than of MIA and ETHAN and tries to stick to the original plot but she has really good ideas how there could have been more to the things like Jack Hyde, Elena etc. I´ve read right know her stories, almost completely (cut and pasted all the scenes in a nice WORD-DOCUMENT) and so I do have more than several hundred pages of more from this story. Take a look if you like at this homepage!

It is like EL JAMES has written more! And yes, I was, too, so sad that the story was over! I wanted more ...

I am often astounded by people's visceral reactions to both EL James and Sylvia Day.  I found it absolutely astounding that people can be incredibly and openly rude about their opinions.  What ever happened to common sense?  What ever happened to if a person doesn't like something then they aren't obligated to purchase another book from these authors?  I have to wonder?  What do you think?  :)

Yeah, one reason therefore could be that a lot of people like to critizise books or to debase them when they are secretely jealous ....! This could be a mode to exert power, to make themself more important than the author.

I do think - like I have mentioned in another post today (to Sharonm or Sarah, don´t know anymore now) -  that the reaction is so visceral because these erotic themes are much more taboo than we might have thought of?!?

I do know from myself If I am struggling with certain storylines of books or their themes this could be because I have there an unresolved issue, a hurtful past or my own experiences are so different from the things mentioned in the book.

    Sme

This one is for all the ladies who enjoyed the FSOG series.

There is a fnfiction blog dedicated to those series called the fsog effect. (which is quite simmilar to the Crossfire effect haha)  This lady rewrote all the chapters of all the books in Christians POV! . It's really enjoyable to read and I think she nailed it. Don't know if I'm allowed to post links, but if you google: a walk in the clouds fifty shades of grey then it's the first hit.

  15. First of all thanks for the warm welcome ladies! :) You all seem very nice and the convo's between all of you are so friendly it is a relief compared to other forums!

I agree GiGi .She should have given him a hard kick in the privates ,chalked it up to a bad experience and moved on ,I would respect her more.Yes she was hurt by his dismissal and rightfully so but when you go in for a one night stand with a virtual stranger that's the risk you take ,you can hope the person you're going with will be decent and nice toward you but unfortunately it's not guaranteed and she should have known the risk of hurt even rudeness is inherent it that type of interaction even though its altogether wrong .And now for her to go around stalking him and people in his life makes me unsympathetic toward her for something for which she deserves sympathy because honestly he was a pig .The ripple effect of her actions is not hurting just Gideon but other people who were not in that room with them and she doesn't seem to care about that. And the other question would she behave the same if Gideon was some normal guy or is it because of his material worth and good looks that she can't let it go ?

Well said Mam2me. Deanna was hurt by Gideon and also her own ego big time. That Gideon acted like a pig is crystal clear. But Deanna's expectations were skyhigh otherwise she wouldn't be full of hatred. Let's be honost the most admirable bachelor in town, good looking, filthy rich wants to sleep with her, so she thinks she is something special. Which later turns out she isn't, but just one of the bunch and that hurts. If you just have casual nighty night playtime  with someone you just do your thing, leave the next morning and that's it right? She prolly thought that having spend the night with him ment instant relationship and that's her own calculation fault. So instead of being hit once, she was hit twice. And a hurt woman can be very dangerous and most of the time (self)destructive.

On a slight different note, i was wondering about THE hotelroom. When Eva went there in book 1 and took a look in the drawers, she saw a lot of s*xtoys and spermicide ( if that is the correct word ) and in book 3 Gideon tells her, he used only toys when he went to that room with other women. Why the spermicide then?  I know it is a minor detail, but it made me wonder....

  16. Thought this song is beautifull on it's own though, but it also fits on the whole Gideon and Eva story aswell i think

Couldn't find the lyrics on the i'net so i tried my best to type some over...

    Dennis Koolen - Seaside rendezvous

there are signs in de heavens, it's called wonderland

Or Maroon 5 -- Love Somebody

  17. Hi everyone!

After a long wait and finally being approved, i'm jumping on the bandwagon with you all :)

So here are my 2 cents on all the books:

1: Megumi being sick is not a coincidence ( at least in my mind ), because there were to many times it was mentioned for it to be "normal". Megumi mentions in book 2: Michael is such a great/nice guy, why does he need a blind date, is somethng wrong with him? or sometihng along those lines. This is said when Eva, Monica and Megumi were having lunch together. Something really strange is going on, and I don't know if it only concerns Megumi dumping Michael or that this Michael person is somehow connected with Nathan ( i know this is far fetched ) and trying to get to Eva through Megumi.

    2. Nathan being killed and the Russian mob connection... also a strange one. Gideon owns a couple of casino's and in book 3 he tries to sell 1 to get a vineyard, ( from the ex hubby of Corrine the witch )maybe he is trying to ditch a connection there? Gideon doesn't seem to do business with mobsters but still... it could be an option.

    3. Bad mom Lizzy and the ring issue... First of all, how did Gideon get that ring? Did Lizzy give it to him, did he took it , did he inherited it? We only know what that ring means to him. To a certain point i can understand that Lizzy is p*ssed off to say the least to see that ring shining on Eve's ringfinger. Especially after Eve's rant to her about the abuse, which is totally justified imho. But Lizzy is the type of person who wants to present a picture perfect family to the outside world.

    4. Magda and Corrine and Lizzy.... Well i don't trust the whole bunch. They are all one clique whatever happens. My gut feeling is, is that Magda is trying to get info out of Eve, which she tells to her mom and mom tells it to Lizzy. And Corrine... well she is just bad

    5. Eve<-->Brett, Gideon<--> Corrine... Eve is being naive in terms of Brett, she knows he wants more and still hangs out with him. Eventhough nothing happens, there is enough space to feed off for badtalk and gossip and making Gideon mad. Gideon on the otherhand is also being a complete dummy for his continues friendship with Corinne. He knows this upsets Eve and yet he does it.

    6. Monica and Victor, maybe i'm alone in this one and i don't promote polygamy, but i kinda liked it. Don't ask me why, but i think that attraction and love after 24 years is still there is kinda lovely.

Pffeew long write, sorry for that. Sorry for writing and grammar errors, I'm not a native English speaker. And sorry if some things are already covered, i didn't read the whole forum..
