  1. Hi Gigi and thanks for your comments.

What prompted me to say what I did is an interview I read a little while back with a British actor--I think his name is Rupert something--who was known as a leading man.  He said that coming out was the worst thing he ever did for his career.  He was sorry he came out professionally. I guess because my brother is gay I think a lot about these issues.  He is a very successful businessman and he has to hide his sexuality even though he is married and with the same man for 23 years.  It's all about money and what TPTB think will make the most.  I also remember when Sean Hayes won a Tony for his role and the NY Times criticized because he played a straight man.  That was maybe 2 or 3 years ago.  I think Europeans are more advanced than we are here in the US.

Yes, that is rupert everett. He was in my best friend's wedding with Julia Roberts...he was her gay best friend.

  2. Hi Sarah,

I think that Gideon's lack of words (POV) thus far, has helped to add to his "mystery".  I would like to know what he felt like and how he was affected by the circumstances in his life.  I think that in order for the series to progress and for us to gain a better understanding of him, we are going to need to hear his voice and understand his POV.  What do you think?

I agree, I think that eventually we'll have to hear his POV to gain a better understanding of him and where he is coming from.  I'm sure it'll be very intense, as he is already!

  3. I like books too.  I have a lot of them.  The last time we moved my husband told me he was never packing or moving any of my books again so I better pick a place and stay there.  I still buy hardback books by my favorite authors but I do all of my reading on my Nook.  My favorite movie line ever is from Out of Africa.

    Karen is talking to Berkley

Karin: He has got lovely books. Does he lend them?

Berkley:  We had a friend...Hopworth, he'd got a book from Denys and didn't return it. Denys was furious. I said to Denys...

"You wouldn't lose a friend for the sake of a book. " He said, "No, but he has, hasn't he?"

My husband always said that was me.  I lend books to friends all the time but I hate when they don't give them back.

love that line! It's very fitting for me as well.  I've lent my books out then become all anxious when they don't return them! Last time I moved my older brother told me he refuses to carry my books again so I beter not move! lol. I need to just cave in and get a kindle or whatever to make it easier when travelling and just buy my favorite books to keep. Trouble is I'll want all of them!

  4. I am also thinking about an Ipad.  I can load both the Nook and Kindle app on it.  I have them on my Ipod touch so I read books from my Nook, my phone & my touch now just depends where I am.

I still haven't gotten any type of e-reader.  I love my books....I love opening a book and turning the pages.  I love seeing books on bookshelves and being surrounded by them.  I have been thnking of getting a kindle only because it's a pain to travel with two or three books especially if they're heavy!

  5. How I discovered The Crossfire series:

Well it's a pretty boring story lol. Read FSOG trilogy in less than a week so when I was done (as much as the writing bothered me) I had withdrawal symptoms and it was pretty bad. All I could think about was that darn book lol. I called my friend to tell her I was going crazy and she told her sister. Her sister then brilliantly suggested BTY because it was similar to FSOG. So I listened to her suggestion and boy am I glad I did. I did roll my eyes a lot of times because of the similarity but in the end I LOVED it. It's everything FSOG should've been and can never be.

I discovered the Crossfire series while I was browsing through Barnes & Noble, I'm always looking for and buying books. Anyway, it peeked my interest so I bought it and needless to say I devoured the book! Loved it instanstly.  I love the stuff Gideon would say....so hot! And i've been obssessed ever since.  I had actually read FSOG way before the craziness over it, I read it originally when it was a FFn.  I still like the Crossfire series better.  I love Sylvia's writting.

  6. Hi Sharon & Ladies,

    What is fan fiction please?

    Hi Gigi,

I'm here trying to catch up on posts (I'm on vacation) so I don't know if anyone answered you about fanfiction, but I see that you've asked like twice already. Fanfiction is where people write stories using characters from anything from, books to TV shows. You go to the site, click on what yu want like, books. Then you'll find hundreds of books like Twilight or Pride and Prejudice.  They're stories using the characters from the books and it'll be like a continuation from the book or a totally new story using those characters (i.e: FSOG Christian=Edward, Ana= Bella etc.). Like in the twilight ones, which are the ones I've read, they use the characters in completely different story, but they have certain characteristics from the original character.  Some are crap, but there are some good ones I've read. Anyway, hope this clears it up for you a  bit. :)

  7. Hi Sarah,

I read this fanfic too one night, when I got to the first time Ana and Gideon hooked up I immediately stopped reading. I felt the writer really didnt understand the characters at all and I was screaming at my ipad - no they would never do that!!!! It amazes me to hear that she went on to kill off Eva and Christian and marry Ana to Gideon and honestly I'm glad I stopped reading. My head would likely have exploded had I read until the end... LOL

OMG don't think I could stomach tht either! glad I haven't stumbled upon that one.

  8. Yes us Scot's are so proud today, I laugh everytime they say Brit, I want to shout, "he is Scottish first" LOL.

I saw Bradley Cooper and Gerard Butler there supporting him, bet Gerard was well proud to be a Scot there today.  I would have loved to be on Centre Court today watching that, what about all the support he was getting at every point, bet he is having a good party tonight :)

I saw those two pieces of eye candy as well!! :)

  9. Twlight connects everyone  LOL  That interest about the Gabriel books, I didn't know they were inspired by Twilight too !

Watching an interview with Henry the other evening, he was one of the 'finalist' for Edward !!!!   So even he connected to us thru Twilight.   I'm sure it has to be more than '6 degrees of Separation'.   :)

    Lol..that's so true! :)

  10. I was trying to find the original FF.  Did she make a lot of changes?  I read some ff but then I get frustrated when the characters are changed so much that they don't resemble the people I like.  Most of the ff that I read are based on my favorite TV shows and when they have a character do something that I know would never happen I stop reading.  I haven't read any ff this summer because I have so many books to read.  I'm behind due to work and other things.

Which original FF are you looking for? I acualy have both...The FSOG( Master of the Universe), and Gabriel's Inferno(The University of EdwardMasen).  I have them on my computer at home and i am away on vacation until Friday.  I could send them to you via email. I have them in a PDF format.

  11. The Twilight connection re FSOG I discovered afterwards and was not surprised because I was thinking and comparing constantly during my reading of FSOG with Twilight!

Yeah, there are lots of possiblities out there. For heaven´s sake!

    :)!

    sme

I had actually read FSOG origanally when it was written as a Twilight FFn.  I still have it on my computer...lol.  Also the Gabriel books(inferno/rapture) were also originally a Twilight FFn.

  12.

    !Hi there--

The GABRIEL books are GABRIEL'S INFERNO AND GABRIEL'S RAPTURE.  GABRIEL'S REDEMPTION is due out in Dec.  The author is Sylvain Reynard.  I love that this is a male author.  Gabriel is a Dante specialist and the author uses a lot of references to literature and art as well as travel to Italy.  I like that.  Gabriel is a very interesting man.  And some pretty great love scenes also.  Give a try.

I, too, started these kinds of books after FSOG.  Led me to Sylvia and of course, G and E.  I couldn't get enough of them and Sylvia's writing style.

I think it is so interesting that we all are trying to find our vision of Gideon. I hope for his career that he gets the Christian Grey role.  I think it will get major promotion.  But as I said in a previous post, I see him as Gideon and his new girlfriend as Eva and always have.

Ok thanks! Yes I know these books, just wasn't sure.  I didn't know there was a third?

  13. While waiting for Book 4 I have found some other books that are fun.  I, too, have read the first 2 books of the BREATHLESS trilogy by Maya Banks.  I like them a lot even though I am not crazy about the BDSM stuff.  I also have just finished the THIS MAN  trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas which takes place in London.  I like these a great deal.  Characters are interesting.  If anyone has not read the GABRIEL books, then I really recommend them. Also loved ON DUBLIN STREET.  I found most of these after reading Sylvia's historical books.  Loved those.  Truth is it is hard to beat G and E.  Hurry up Book 4.

What are the Gabriel books and who's the author?

    Thanks!
