  1. No thank you necessary. Catch up on whatever you're doing.

    Did you try the chili???????

    Linda

    Hi Linda.  :bye1:

It has been slow. I think everyone is busy with projects, I've been on deadline. I owe you a thank you card and it's coming, I promise. I intend to catch up on all my thank yous tomorrow.

I hope you're doing well.  :D  I'll be catching up on all the things that fell by the wayside this last month and a half. I can't believe it's the middle of Feb. This start of the year has flown by in a daze.

  2. I never see a darn soul when I look halfway decent (a rarity in itself!) But, just let me sneak outside in my robe with the hole in the sleeve or the nighshirt that is almost dead and EVERYONE is looking out a window. Even if it's 5AM!!!

There's a condo development out back where it used to be a wooded area. Almost ALL are older people---they're the only ones who can afford these places. Anyway, they are ALWAYS awake at weird hours. The one decorates her porch deck overnight. I'll go to bed at maybe 11PM. The next morning, her third floor balcony/deck will be festooned in decorations for the next holiday. Christmas. Valentine's Day. Easter, Halloween, St. Patrick's Day, Groundhog Day.

I have NEVER seen her put up as much as a ribbon during daylight hours.

And they look at ME in my shabby robe!!! LOL

  3. Picture this........we were supposed to get flurries today. I just came in from blowing the snow for the second time. It's looking like 4-5 inches so far.

Anyway, when i came in about 3PM by sweatpants were soaked so I took them off and put on a pair of those flannel loungers assuming I would NOT need to go out again.

About 6PM, it looked pretty sucky so I went out again......it was semi-dark so I couldn't REALLY see. Well, I coiuldn't imagine how I felt wet all the way through. When i came in, I realized i still had the flannels on. Virtually, I was snowblowing in high-tech jammies!!!

So, I'm sitting her now in a sweatshirt and my underwear. I shucked the pants and once i warm up, I'm taking a shower.

Okay, there's a GREAT mental picture for ya!!! LOL

  4. Okay, for some reason this message board hasn't allowed me to post to individual messages. So....my offer stands on the chili mix. So, Sasha, Sylvia, Steph & Marguerite (I think) and anyone else...e-mail me your address and I'll send you a pack next time I get to the store. Cincinnati chili is very good.

And, i think it was Steph who said her DH said Skyline was great but Cincy had another one too??? Yep, that would be GOLD STAR!!!

Sorry for the weird post but This is the only way I can post right now.

  5. We get to Cinci pretty regularly even tho we live in NY - our daughter sees one of the docs at Cincinnati Children's Hospital...

I live in the very western part of the county; about a mile outside the city. But, when I was a kid, we lived down by the University of Cincinnati and we used to go to the zoo often.

I have several buddies who work at Children's in research and another who was a doctor there but he moved to Salt Lake City because they had a better department in his specialty. He works in pediatric cancer.

Anyway, I hope your little girl is doing GREAT!

Graeter's is awesome. You also have to be brave and try the Skyline chili.

Sasha and Sylvia, if you're reading this post and you're very brave let me know if you want to try Cincinnati chili. They sell spice packets and all you have to add is hamburger & tomato paste. It is NOTHING like Texas chili.

    HAPPY NEW YEAR!

    Linda

  6. Just a few snow showers down this way but it sure has gotten cold.

I got the tree up today. I'm bumming a little. I had to have my big dog, Casey, put to sleep yesterday. I had him almost 13 years. He was a gorgeous Sheltie. I told Snoopy that he's now "king." Actually, I think the little snot has thought he was a "god" ever since he exited the womb! I love him and my other little dog but Casey was MY dog.

Batman car or Batman motorcycle???? The age old question. You do realize that even if you buy BOTH, he'll still play with the boxes they came in!

You should try to take a video of him talking to the Blue's Clues ornament. that'd be a "keeper."

Good luck finishing up the book. The holidays seem to compress time on us, don't they?

    Love,

    Linda

  7. Hi Sylvia,

    How's life treating you?

I won a pre-release copy of Dean Koontz' LIFE EXPECTANCY. I had never read his books even though I heard they were good. I'm about a third of the way through and it is absolutely riveting. It's just jaw-dropping GREAT! I think it goes on sale in December.

Cold & rainy back here in Cincinnati.

I picked up some SUPPORT OUR TROOPS car magnets. Do you want one? I can pop it in the mail if you do. You said your sister was in the service. Also found some that say HOME OF THE FREE BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. I think that's kind of neat.

  8. Hi Sasha,

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES is awesome! It has that same off-beat humor as PICKET FENCES or NORTHERN EXPOSURE.

I like MEDICAL INVESTIGATIONS too. The actors are pretty lame but the stories are interesting.

My dogs are awesome. I do a weekly "Snoopy" letter for a dozen or so old folks I write to. It started as sort of a tongue-in-cheek thing. Anyway, I decided to run a fake campaign for my dog as president.

So far, the feeback has been pretty funny.

I'd post it but don't know if the photo would come through.

I have a Shetland Sheepdog and two Papillons. It's French for "butterfly" but I suspect the French word for "rat" would be more honest.

  9. So glad to see life on the boards again.

I'm reading SURGEON IN CRISIS by Jennifer Taylor. It's a Harlequin Medical Romance. It's so-so. Not the best; not the worst either. Pretty lightweight story but the writing style is enjoyable. Does that make sense?

Mostly, I'm just finishing up some yardwork and letting my dogs get some fresh air as I prepare for winter. Hey, I'm in Ohio. We get all sorts of weird weather.

    Be good,

    Linda

  10. CALIFORNIA is a heck of a lot safer than other places right now! Has she been deployed overseas? You must be SO proud of her. I hope you let her know how much she is supported. Some of our wonderful troops feel like we're not always behind them.

Have you seen the magnetic SUPPORT OUR TROOPS yellow ribbons for on the cars? They are SO popular her in Ohio. My cousin was visiting from Florida and had never seen them.

    Linda

  11. Hi Sylvia,

Start with Evanovich's ONE FOR THE MONEY. You'll be hooked. I'm not saying you'll read through the whole series without a break but it just has a certain appeal that kind of hooks you in. The characters are appealing & well-drawn; and the dialogue is like machine-gun fire. It's very crisp & quick-paced. (I feel like a criminal recommending another author!!!!)

Your biography says you worked with the US Army. I'm in three groups that support our troops. Some of those men & women serving overseas are little more than kids. I think your work as a translator had to be very interesting.

    Stay happy,

    Linda

  12. By Rhonda Nelson. It's part of the BLAZE series by Harlequin. Just a delightful story about how far some people will take a "diet." Humorous but very sexy too. It was the first book i read by Rhonda Nelson.

I also love the Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. And I'm currently ready Carly Phillip's SIMPLY SCANDALOUS.

    Linda
