  1. Actually, Detective Graves has figured out the truth that Gideon loved Eva so much he killed to protect her from a dangerous maniac. When I say "fool the cops"I mean that even though the cops know the truth, they have an uphill battle trying to prove that love.  They're up against a possible defense strategy of "No way can you convince a jury Gideon Cross loved Eva Trammel so much he had very good motive to commit murder. Because their short lived relationship fell apart while Nathan Barker was still very much alive. And it fell apart for very good reason too. So someone else must have done it."  Right now, Gideon's defense strategy would be pretty much this: "There's only one woman Gideon Cross ever had a serious long-term relationship with -- Corrine. They were together for three years, including engaged for one year. She broke it off, married someone else, and moved away. He never really got over her though. And now suddenly she's moved back, has left her husband, and has made it crystal clear she's still in love with Gideon. She's decided after all these years to go back to him. Soon after she came back, he dumped Eva Trammel, who he'd been seeing just a few weeks, and decided to see if he and Corrine could work out again." It's kinda convincing, because a lot of it is true -- the Corrine side of things, anyway, and the fact they actually did have a serious long-term relationship.  BUT .....  The timing of Gideon "getting back together again with Corrine" is just a little too convenient. He started dating Corrine again only a few days before Nathan died. A prosecutor might be able to convince a jury to accept what's the actual real truth here: Corrine is nothing more than part of the plot Gideon built. Gideon's cover story is kinda lame. But what can you expect -- he threw everything together on short notice -- and he made several huge mistakes too.  SO .....  A much better possible defense strategy would be "Gideon Cross went to Corrine for comfort after Eva Trammel hurt him so badly he dumped Eva. In front of witnesses, he caught Eva in the arms of an ex-lover -- a rock star no less who happens to signed with Vidal Records. She made him look pretty bad. We've got a long list of people who were there that night who could testify how angry Gideon got, including having Eva forcibly removed from his sight. Why would Gideon Cross kill Nathan Barker nearly a week later?" It's a pretty good cover because most of it is true -- the part about what happened at the concert, that is.
  2. Eva would never sleep with Brett in to create a false cover for the cops to make them believe a big lie that she's sooooo already over Gideon -- that Gideon was nothing more than a mutual fling and no way would he kill some guy over her. Â Nor would Eva even "date" Brett like Gideon has been "dating" Corrine. Eva wouldn't use Brett like Gideon's been using Corrine -- and yes, he is using Corrine, but Corrine brought this all on herself by chasing after Gideon and hurting Eva. Â Eva doesn't have to do anything with Brett NOW or at any time in the future in order for him to become the stronger cover story that Gideon had all the reason in the world to dump Eva well before Nathan turned up dead. Â All Eva (and Gideon) need to do is stand back and let the tabloids go nuts on their own with all their crazy theories. Gideon's been putting up with the the tabloids gossiping about him for years. In fact, he used that to his advantage when he started taking Corrine out in public again -- he just let the press run with their assumptions. Â The story that Gideon and Brett tried to kick each other's @****** after Gideon caught Eva redhanded making out with Brett after a concert was bound to get out sooner or later. Too many witnesses saw it. Now some of those witnesses (like the other members of his band) are back in New York. Â On it's own, it's a pretty salacious story -- especially because it's 100% true. Eva did, in a moment of weakness, start making out with Brett, Gideon caught them together, and a huge fistfight ensued. Even if the tabloids stuck to the truth only, it's makes for a pretty convincing reason why Gideon and Eva's relationship went south. But the tabloids could be counted on taking things even further -- full-fledged cheating -- just like the tabloids are probably speculating Gideon and Corrine will marry as soon as her divorce is final. Â All Gideon and Eva need is a convincing lie that before Nathan died, Gideon and Eva's relationship fell apart. She didn't love him and he doesn't love her -- and so there is no reason why he would have motive to commit murder for her. Â Then, when the cops/prosecutors finally back off for real, Gideon and Eva could "get back together again" Â All of a sudden, Gideon's out in public with Eva, not Corrine. "They've decided to give one another a second shot." Happily ever after.
  3.  Keep in mind what's actually in the pictures are props that the agency creating these pictures for Sylvia has handy. We have to be careful against being too literal. Like that throw pillow on the white couch in one of the earlier snippets. That throw pillow was u-g-l-y, IMHO, something neither Eva nor Cary would own.  The elevator lobby was something the photographers found that in real life matches the fictional description of the marble and aluminum decor theme of the Crossfire's interior. The Aston Martin is some sort of stock photo.  But yes, Peaches, you and me (and all the ladies here) are purists who know more than the agency folks. That photo of what's obviously Eva's shed clothing should include stockings and a garter belt, not pantyhose. We all know she wears stockings because it's a big turn-on for Gideon.  I think the look the photographer was going for was women's business clothes thrown to the floor: pumps and stockings, a nice white blouse -- stuff a woman working in a business-attire dress code would be wearing to work.  The snapshot just before this showed elevators. This one shows parts of a woman's work outfit thrown onto a floor. Gideon and Eva just had a nooner -- or -- he met her right after work, is my guess.
  4. Gideon talks about the reasons he couldn't go through with marrying Corrine in the final chapter of Bared To You.
  5. Snapshot #13 just hit the Internet. Here's the link: http://www.sylviaday.com/2013/04/30/entwined-snapshot-13/  Seriously hot!!!!  In the foreground on the floor are a pair of white lace panties, black stockings and a pair of black patent leather pumps. They're next to the foot of a bed. Half hanging off the mattress is a woman's white silk blouse.  Pretty sure this depicts Eva's clothes thrown on some bedroom floor. Not his bedroom though, not from the description we've been given of the color scheme of Gideon's bedroom. It could be her room, or it could be another bedroom - hotel room, secret love nest, etc. ......
  6. Â Gideon's own serious issues are a belief he's not worthy of love and a great deal of trouble trusting people. Â He couldn't trust anyone to know the truth he'd been raped. Why would he? His own mother didn't trust him. And this problem is the reason he didn't get married -- it was impossible for him to share a home with Corrine, because it would include sharing a bedroom, and she'd find out about his rape nightmares. Â He couldn't even trust Eva with the truth. He dumped her as soon as she witnessed one of his nightmares for the first time (and bitterly regretted breaking up with her -- four days later, he begged her to come back.) But he still wouldn't talk about it. Not until the final days of Reflected did he dare start opening up -- and the reason he did is he finally understood that his refusal to open up to her is what would make her move on to a life without him.
  7. Â I just spit coffee on my computer monitor, I laughed so hard at her son's line!!!. Sounds like he's got as much sass as Eva. Love it!
  8. The probability that Christopher hung around with Magdalene at the fundraiser got me thinking about something Caroline told us from the things she learned when she got to attend that in-person live question and answer session with Sylvia. Sylvia said that Corrine's family and Gideon's family know one another -- which makes perfect sense. Corrine and Gideon were engaged for one year, so the two families would have been involved in the planning of the wedding, especially the two mothers. It's possible the connection went back even further, which could be one of the reasons Corrine latched onto Gideon his freshman year at Columbia University. Â OK, keeping this in mind -- here's a new evil Christopher Jr. theory I've developed. Timeline: Â During the three years Gideon and Corrine were a couple, Christopher Jr. would have been in his very early teens. In Corrine's eyes, he would have been just some kid. But physically he would be transitioning into puberty. His hormones would have been switching on, and his sex drive would be born. Meanwhile, for the first time ever, Gideon probably would have been getting some positive attention. He already was starting to show an amazing talent for making money. Given his sharp intelligence and drive to excel, he probably was making the Dean's List. And now he had landed a spectacular society girl. So Christopher's later jealousies about how Gideon is better looking, richer, etc., could have been born then. Throw in teen-aged fantasies about women, and this could have been when Christopher developed a general fixation with all females after Gideon and possibly a specific obsession with Corrine. Soon after Corrine broke her engagement to Gideon, she married someone else and moved to Europe. Â Fast forward to the present day: Corrine is living permanently in New York again, every bit as beautiful -- and every bit still obsessed with Gideon. Now the tabloids are all abuzz about Gideon and Corrine dating (and probably rampantly speculating the renewed relationship is on the fast track to marriage, as soon as Corrine's divorce goes through.) Corrine probably is back in touch with Gideon's family. Christopher no longer is just some kid -- he's a hot young executive in the recording business, and a very charming guy to boot. He's not drop dead gorgeous like Gideon, but he's a good looking man too. Â Christopher is probably circling Corrine like a shark, looking for a vulnerable opening to work his way in. Because Corrine would be the ultimate prize and ultimate payback if Christopher could seduce Gideon's future wife. Â I wonder what's going to happen between Christopher and Corrine when she gets kicked to the curb in Entwined.
  9. Â That's so cool!!! It doesn't surprise me she has a gift for languages, because some writers do. But it does demonstrate why she's such a talented writer.
  10. Â Two words: Madison Avenue, which is to advertising what Wall Street is to finance. It's even possible the Crossfire is literally on Madison Ave. The Crossfire is in midtown, and that's the same part of Manhattan where Madison Ave. is located. Even if the Crossfire isn't literally on that street, it is in that same business district. It makes sense why Eva works in a midtown skyscraper, given that she works for a prominent agency. Â We learned in Chapter One that her stepfather, Stanton, tried in vain to get her to take some cushy job working for one of his many business connections. He's a financier. We know from Chapter One that Eva stood up to Stanton by insisting on landing an entry level job in her chosen field on her own merits. (Note: Stanton's office is in downtown, better known as lower Manhattan. That's the heart of the financial services industry in the United States, the part of New York where Wall Street lies.
  11. I wonder what had been going on in the background at the fundraiser between Christopher Jr. and Magdalene. She obviously was there alone -- she'd never attend with some other man, because she was keeping herself open to Gideon's beck and call. Christopher  likely arrived stag as well -- we don't know for certain, but there's no indication he had a date with him.  So I can picture this: Magdalene had for quite some time now expected Gideon was going to ask her to be his date for this high profile event. But he never asked her. Instead, he shows up with some stunning new woman, taking everyone by surprise. Who's the beautiful blonde, people would ask, avidly curious about anything new regarding Mr. Hot Rich Celebrity Bachelor. Then it would quickly get around - that's Richard Stanton's stepdaughter, Eva Trammel. So Magdalene would learn Eva's got serious social standing.  I can picture Christopher swooping in to give Magdalene a willing ear. Probably sat beside Magdalene through dinner. Certainly would have reported back to Magdalene what he learned when he danced with Gideon's date - Eva barely knows Gideon, it's nothing serious, and Eva most definitely is single.  Rather than appeasing Magdalene, that could have made her even angrier. Gideon blew off asking her in favor of taking some chick he barely knew. She could have felt embarrassed too, fearing (probably with good reason) people would be gossiping about Magdalene, speculating Gideon had broken things off with her.  No wonder she sharpened her claws into Eva, letting Eva know that she (Magdalene) was actually the woman destined to be Mrs. Gideon Cross once Gideon got screwing around out of his system. Eva was nothing more than someone Gideon was going to f*** and then forget. Magdalene was taking out her hurt feelings on poor Eva. Probably egged on by Christopher playing up to Magdalene's insecurities, and possibly having had one too many glasses of champagne to boot (because both Magdalene and Eva herself later pounded down drinks the night Corrine showed up.)
  12. Gideon getting mad that Eva kept leaving his side at the fundraiser (and mad she danced with his half brother Christopher) is an interesting dynamic. On the surface, we'd naturally think he's possessive, especially when he himself tells Eva soon afterward he's possessive of what's his. Even Corrine mentions his possessive nature the night Eva meets her.  BUT .....  What's really the issue here, I believe, is Gideon's childhood abandonment issue.  His mother abandoned him in a serious way when she concluded he was an emotionally messed up liar. She took the side of people who told her the sexual abuse never happened.  Sylvia has said repeatedly that any move by Eva to pull away from him terrifies Gideon.  SO ......  Even while Gideon was in the midst of the post-limo-lovemaking head trip, locked inside his protective exterior shell, already unknown even to himself, it bothered him Eva was "leaving" him in a way. This was more complex than the dynamic where she had been playing hard to get. He'd finally gotten her, and whole new parts of him had opened for the first time. And now she was "leaving."  Jumping ahead to Chapter Eight, one of the things I like best about the conversation Gideon has with Eva two days later is something that shows he's got enough insight about himself to realize he's inexperienced when it comes to how to treat a woman:  " .... give me some room to screw up. I've never done this before. There's a learning curve." Bared page 115
  13. Tuesday!!! Twice-weekly snapshot will come this morning (likely around 9 a.m. U.S. Eastern Time based on when all the other ones thus far have hit the Internet.)  Today will be a glimpse into Chapter 13. Recap of the snapshots of chapters 1-12:  1. The word "Press" over a fuzzy shot of a newspaper page, and a fancy pen in the foreground. 2. Unwrapped Christmas present boxes 3. The word "Business" next to a cup of coffee 4. A microphone on a stand 5. A pile of neatly-folded white terrycloth towels, wrapped in a red ribbon. 6. A bathtub in a modern-style bathroom 7. An open bottle of red wine, nearly full, and in front of it, one wine glass holding some wine. Near it is a small vase holding four red roses. 8. Two different types of pills in blister packs plus a bottle of some sort of liquid medication. The meds are on a glass coffee table in front of a white couch. 9. Fuzzy shot of a crowded dance floor. One woman in the center of the shot is in semi-focus. 10. A diamond and gold women's watch. 11. An Aston Martin sports car 12. An elevator lobby  Friday's snapshot will post as usual, but next week, Tuesday's snapshot will post on Monday, because Tuesday is First Chapter Day!Â
  14. Chapter A Day Re-Read Project - Today is Chapter Eight of Bared  This chapter starts Monday (day eight of the story) immediately where Chapter Seven left off -- noon in Gideon's office. The chapter ends with Eva and Gideon leaving work, together, that afternoon.  Key plot developments: One of the most important conversations Eva and Gideon have in Bared To You happens. He convinces her to become his girlfriend. Eva's boss, Mark, cautions her to be careful. He's afraid she'll quit her job if Gideon hurts her -- and it's obvious that's what Mark thinks Gideon will do.  Sometime after each of us finishes reading this chapter, Sylvia would like to read our favorite quotes or paragraphs. No time limit on posting them. Forum discussions about the chapters has been moving both forward and backward, as we connect how various threads of the story have unfolded.
  15. Chapter Seven of Bared To You - The Readers Guide  This chapter covers the rest of Saturday night, day six of the story, during the fundraiser. It continues through all of Sunday (day seven) in Eva's apartment, and finishes at noontime Monday (day eight) in Gideon's office.   Key plot developments: Eva avoids Gideon as much as possible at the fundraiser, and he ditches her by leaving alone early.  Magdalene hurts her too, convincing Eva she's nothing more than the latest of a long series of women Gideon f***** -- and now that he has, he'll throw Eva onto the reject pile. Eva avoids Gideon the rest of the weekend. Monday, Gideon desperately tries to apologize for Saturday, and he convinces Eva to have lunch so they can talk.  New characters: Magdalene - mentioned in Chapter Six, she appears for the first time in Chapter Seven. Christopher Jr. - also mentioned in Chapter Six and appearing for the first time in Chapter Seven.  A disaster of a first date Eva spent much of the fundraiser avoiding him -- and he got mad she kept leaving his side. She did sit beside him during dinner itself, where he was the featured speaker. She was deeply touched by his stirring speech about the prevalence of childhood sexual abuse in North America. Eva met Gideon's half-brother, Christopher Vidal Jr., who asked her to dance. He questioned her relationship status, learning there wasn't anything serious between her and Gideon and she's definitely single. Cary noticed Eva was miserable, and he danced with her next so they could talk. Cary figured out Gideon screwed up. But Eva's insecurities made her believe she was the one who had blown it. Gideon then cut in, and the pair of them spent their dance bickering. He was upset she had danced with Christopher, and she was mad he spent time with Magdalene, who also was there.  When the song ended, Gideon informed Eva he was leaving early -- making it clear he wanted to leave alone. Cary, seeing Eva angrily shove Gideon away, rushed to her side and insulted Gideon for blowing things. Then Eva herself insulted Gideon by saying the speech he gave had been the highlight of her evening (in other words, the lovemaking in the limo meant nothing.)  Magdalene picks a fight After Gideon abandoned her, Eva got ambushed by Magdalene. By then, Eva had already learned from Gideon himself that despite all the photos of Magdalene and him together, they're just friends and he has no intention of sleeping with Magdalene. Magdalene instinctively figured out Eva had already slept with Gideon, and she taunted Eva that Gideon always loses respect for women he f***, rejecting them all. Thus Magdalene scored a direct hit where Eva was most vulnerable -- Eva's fear she'd ruined everything by what she'd done in the limo. Caught off guard that Eva knew Magdalene and Gideon were platonic, Magdalene did spin control by claiming it proves Gideon respects her (Magdalene) -- because he's going to marry her eventually.  Sunday Eva stayed in with Cary all day, enlisting Cary's help to keep her from answering the phone and stop her from listening to any messages, guessing (correctly) Gideon had been calling, because Gideon had sent her roses that morning. She and Cary hashed over Saturday night's events, from Gideon's coldness to Magdalene's cattiness. Much of what Cary heard angered him, especially what Magdalene told Eva concerning how Gideon treats women he's f******. Everything that had happened Saturday night had Eva convinced Gideon already was done with her, now that he'd gotten what he wanted.  Monday Eva being at work gave Gideon the opportunity to finally get her on the phone, so he could remind her of their plans to meet for lunch (plans they'd set Friday afternoon).  Throughout the phone call, he was trying to apologize for how he'd behaved Saturday. She didn't want to even see him, because she'd already made up her mind he was bad news. But she agreed to have lunch because he was practically begging her -- and because he wasn't going to take "no" for an answer. However, as soon as they were alone together in his office, she got straight to the point, "Let's get this over with. I don't want to see you anymore." (Page 112, the chapter ended there.)
  16. Â Welcome Andi!!! And thanks for finding Eva's age for us. I knew I'd read it somewhere, but I couldn't remember if it was in one of the novels or as a spoiler question answer from Sylvia. Now we know the source! Â Starting at around Chapter Three, I started posting the guides the morning after (well, my morning after in the eastern U.S.) we all read. So if you go back into this threat and look around the 5-6 a.m. time frame, you should find each.
  17. Â Thank you Mrs. C!!! This is a huge help to me, because I'm about to post the Chapter Seven guide. I'd gone back and forth, in the "new characters" section on whether to include the mysterious redhead, because this is the chapter she makes her brief appearance. I had decided to hold off (because we never explicitly later learned her identity -- unlike some other characters who start off as a simple mention, like Gideon's driver, and turn out to be characters.) So the redhead who talks to Eva at the dinner is in the same category as the two women on the elevator in Eva's apartment building (the ones floored by the sight of Gideon, Cary and Eva all boarding the elevator, all in formal evening attire.)
  18. Â I'm still trying to figure this out myself how this will work, but as best as I can determine, Sylvia is going to be a guest of actor Henry Cavill, the actor she wants to play Gideon in any made for television movie or mini-series (Background: the Lionsgate film/TV studio recently bought the film rights to Crossfire.) Â It's Cavill's show, so to speak, and I think the interview will be posted via Cavill's Facebook page, and it will include Sylvia answering questions that Cavill's fans submitted on the actor's Facebook and Twitter sites. I'm not sure whether this will be a live interview or previously recorded -- that's the part I can't figure out. Â Hopefully, we'll get more info this morning -- time, place, live versus pre-recorded, etc. Â P.S. Sylvia plugged this fan site yesterday on her own Facebook page when a fan where she could discuss the books. "They talk all day!" is how Sylvia described us. SQUEEEEEEEE!
  19. Â I saw that too. I'm guessing "final peek .... besides the snapshots" means no additional snippets. But I'm not complaining -- the whole first chapter is an even huger gift to we fans. And we'll still be getting snapshots right on up to June!
  20. Â Angus, I'm sure, helped Gideon kill Nathan. My own theory of how it went down: Angus helped sneak Gideon away from the party and into Nathan's hotel, served as lookout when Gideon slipped into Nathan's room and drove the knife through Nathan's heart, helped sneak Gideon away from the scene and back to the party -- and got rid of the weapon right away. And spent the rest of the night somehow part of Gideon's alibi for Gideon's movements after the party.
  21.  He knew Eva was shattered, and all her worst old wounds were ripped open. Meanwhile, his abandonment terrors were ripped open: Eva didn't believe him, and she had just left him.  She'd pulled the ultimate runner and he was absolutely powerless to do anything. He couldn't even tell her the awful things she believed weren't true. In fact, he couldn't even contact her in any way.  Because the cops were all over him -- and his lawyer had probably warned him it was now crystal clear the cops considered him a murder suspect.  All his plans had gone horribly wrong. He'd screwed things up in the worst way. I can see him being grief-stricken and the most ashamed of himself he'd ever been -- ashamed for the damage done to Eva. The only comfort he would have felt was knowing Eva was now forever safe from that animal, Nathan.
  22. Â I can picture Gideon having a sleepless night on Friday. Â Saturday morning, I picture him leaving the police station just like Eva left the advocacy center dinner -- struggling to make it to the privacy of the car, the place where it's safe to finally start crying.
  23.  Friday night being at Eva's apartment was a huge mistake -- and not just because it was a really bad idea for the homicide detectives seeing him having dinner with Eva's family.  The fact Gideon knew Nathan -- obviously knew Nathan was in New York too -- came out, because Gideon got asked about it right in front of Eva. Had that not happened, Gideon might have been able to keep secret from Eva he ever saw the pictures and video of Nathan raping her. Also, Gideon got asked about where he was Thursday -- and Eva could see he was hiding something. Which he was (where he'd been instead of couples therapy with her -- he was partying with Corrine.)  Bad enough that Gideon knew there was a risk Eva would see the party pictures (which were deliberately set up to go public as part of his alibi.) He never counted on her finding out Nathan had been to see him. But she did -- and her terrible insecurities made her believe the most horrible thing: the sight of her body disgusted Gideon now, and their sexual relationship was ruined forever.  What's worse, Eva was still so insecure she believed the only reason Gideon had stayed with her was because of the sex. So the whole relationship period was ruined forever. Last, but by no means least, Eva had been convinced Corrine always had some sort of sexual hold over Gideon -- and so that's why he started f******* Corrine again, now that he no longer wanted her (Eva).  Saturday morning, Gideon heard for himself Eva pour out all that agony when she dumped him. Things probably wouldn't have gotten that bad if Gideon had only cancelled going to Eva's family dinner on Friday. Sure, Eva would have been furious about the party photos -- look how mad she'd gotten over the photos of him  having dinner with Corrine. But her heart broken into a million pieces and all her sexual demons being let out from the darkest parts of her psyche? That wouldn't have happened if she never found out Nathan went to see Gideon. Thanks to the cops though, she found out (about Gideon knowing Nathan was in town that is -- she found out about the rape photos the next day when her mother, all freaked out Nathan was dead and homicide detectives were now questioning everyone, blurted out they existed.)
  24. Â He probably didn't dare to call Eva, not when he was Corrine -- he needed to go through with the whole public act of them sitting together in a front table at his friend's restaurant, have a photographer shoot pictures. He couldn't leave -- and if Eva said on the phone she needed him, he wouldn't be able to. Â I posted this earlier today, but it's easier to re-explain here. I think his taking Corrine out Monday was purely for Nathan's benefit. Not the cops. Nathan was so enraged at the thought of Eva with other men that he almost killed Cary just because he (Nathan) thought Eva was sleeping with Cary. What Gideon did Monday was to trick Nathan into thinking he (Gideon) and Eva weren't a couple anymore. Knowing Nathan was stalking Eva, Gideon was counting on Nathan finding the tabloid gossip online -- Gideon and Corrine, Back Together!!!!!" (or something to that effect.) Â In other words, Monday was a pure attempt to defuse Nathan for a little bit in order to buy time. Â The Thursday picture of Gideon with Corrine at the party -- that was for the benefit of the cops.
  25. Something to add to the above unfolding plan of Gideon's, at least as far as it applied to Eva -- and it is important to note Sylvia has said the weekend trip to North Carolina was NOT part of Gideon's plan to handle Eva. The plan all started unfolding after they got back to New York and Gideon found out about Nathan's attack on Cary.  Monday: In the morning, Gideon was as tender as ever to Eva on Monday at the hospital, stopping by before work. It was during that visit -- we now know thanks to Caroline -- he would have found out Nathan had done it. Monica had taken him aside for a serious talk -- now we know what she said to Gideon. During the day: with Eva at the hospital by Cary's side around the clock, she was in a safe place, and so Gideon could turn to the pressing matter of further investigating Nathan. Monday evening: Gideon blew off calling Eva that night. He was out with Corrine -- he probably didn't dare.  Tuesday: Gideon wasn't yet deliberately hurting Eva as part of his killing plan. I believe (again -- I think the decision to kill was made Tuesday night). But Gideon, already under enormous pressure, spent the day serious p******* off at Eva. First, without telling anyone beforehand, she left the hospital to go to work. Gideon freaked when he found out she was walking to the Crossfire. He got mad and sent Angus to fetch her. Then midday, she defied his "order" to stay in for lunch -- she went out to lunch, with Brett Kline of all people!!!! The short but angry interaction Gideon had with Eva as soon as she got back was genuine anger on his part. Eva at her absolute most unmanageable -- and unwittingly in the worst danger of her life. Tuesday night, he blew her off again while she was at the hospital. He had the all-important security meeting in his apartment. Unfortunately, Eva decided to call him at home, and she figured out he wasn't alone -- and assumed he had Corrine over.  The actual distancing itself, the really deliberate meanness (for lack of a better word) started during the day Wednesday. From that point onward, Gideon was careful about giving the appearance to everyone, including Eva herself, he was pulling away. When Gideon did come to see Eva in the middle of the night to comfort her by making love to her for hours, I'm guessing now he snuck into her apartment building, just like he apparently did when he goes to see her in Entwined.  So why go through with the family dinner on Friday, to meet Eva's Dad when Gideon ought to have cancelled that entirely? Sylvia explained in a spoiler question answer that Gideon feared Eva would never forgive him. In hindsight, he ought to have cancelled, because the situation turned out to be the first major mistake he made as far as the cops go. The homicide detectives showed up while Gideon was still there.
