I am wondering about Gideon's phone call with Monica towards the end (I think) of the book when he tries to calm her down. I wonder what was discussed. Wasn't it a lengthy phone call?

Eva would have looked especially bad since Corinne was pregnant. Fighting with a pregnant woman? She would have been thrown to the wolves.

I think Dr Lucas is very good at reading people's insecurities, and took advantage of both Eva (at the dinner and the hospital) and Corinne (at the dinner). Corinne must have been distraught about how Gideon left her for Eva, and he was there for her to lean on; a good listener. At some point, he may have said, "Hey look. If you need someone to talk to, here is my card." or "My wife is a doctor, here is her card." Who knows, but if Anne is her psych, someone had to get those two in touch. Of course, it could have been EV, but may be not.

Also remember the night of the dinner when Gideon sat and talked to Corinne all night, Dr. Lucas was there; sitting right next to Eva. When Eva left, Gideon quickly chased her, leaving both Dr. Lucas and Corinne at the table together. Who knows what those two talked about. Feeling sad? Oh, my wife is a doctor who can help you.

I agree. I wonder if she proposed to him too, hoping to make Gideon jealous enough to try to win her back. Obviously, her plan didn't work. Then she thought, well marrying him will make Gideon come back-nope. Well, divorcing him will make Gideon come back-nope. Well moving back to NY will make Gideon come back-nope, etc.

That's what I'm thinking.

I was just going to bring this up. SD said the first 2.5 (half of book 3) books were about Eva and dealing with her problems, and the next 2.5 (half of book 3) books will be about Gideon dealing with his problems/past. We will definitely be learning much more of his story in books 4 and 5.

I think Anne was his shrink too, I mean when he was a child but ending up spending time with his mom instead.

I apologize if my next question has already been asked or is obvious and I missed it, but was Anne Lucas the psychiatrist who came in to help Gideon when he was young? Her brother was the student who abused Gideon, but was she the supervisor that spent most of the time with Elizabeth? When we found out she was a psychiatrist, that is what immediately jumped into my mind.

Do you think Gideon's initial thoughts about Eva were just to use toys/fingers/whatevers on her? When did using her as a one time thing turn into wanting more? Don't you think it happened before the s*x in the limo?

OK-don't hate me, but was anyone else disappointed that there weren't any Eva/Corinne face offs? I was really looking forward to Eva smacking (not literally) Corinne. Anyone else?

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that has made this board so much fun these past few weeks/months. I am signing off until I receive my book (Amazon, probably won't be here for several days). I don't want to read any spoilers. "See" everyone in a week or so!!!

Only you guys will understand. I was at Target tonight, and since The Man of Steel movie is coming out, Target is full of all things Gideon, um I mean Superman/Henry Cavill. I almost bought the Henry Cavill napkins and paper plates they had for birthday parties. It was actually HC, not the cartoon Superman.
