Sarah I don't know why you would think that the poster who "suggested" people who employ nannies are uninvolved parents . I believe I may have been one of the posters and I certainly did not mean to be offensive . As you are new to the blog ; I would just like you to know that we discuss all aspects of a story in a friendly and UNOFFENSIVE manner . Everyone on the blog has different backgrounds and life experiences and we all certainly bring that to the table. To be quite honest I am offended by your post and its tone. I have worked in my profession for thirty years working a variety of shifts over the years and I have two children who have gone to babysitters , summer camps, grandparents and the like. I was clearly referring to the segment of the super-rich who employ live in nannies and jet all over the world with not a thought to their children. These people do exist . As for GidEva the point I was trying to make which I clarified earlier had nothing really to do with a NANNY just the security issue involved.
Â
It's true; I've only been reading here for a few months (since Entwined).Â
Â
I should have included quotes in my original post for clarity:
Â
"I don't think GidEva will have nannies it will be all hands on parenting!"
"I don't think they will have nannies either. They will be hands on parents."
Â
And I specifically said that I thought those comments were NOT meant to be insulting to parents who use nannies/babysitters.Â

I had started reading the Alpha series a while ago and thought it was just fluff and tons of hot sex. Â But the third book is out and I am loving the story now. Â It really should have been one book. Â The first 2--which i reread since I forgot the story--really are just background for the real story. Â So, if you decide to read them, then read them altogether. Â
I finished the series last night (the third book took me about 3 hours to read; they're fairly short). I think Maya Cross has a great imagination; I imagine the world she built for these books has been in her head for a long time, and I think it's a good start for a new author. But I think the books could have been stronger with an editor. I'm not talking about grammar and idiom, here, I'm talking about developing and fleshing out the story in places so that we can experience the world as clearly as she does. One thing I love about Day's novels is that they stand up to pretty close scrutiny and seem very professional. Of course, she's been doing this for quite a while, now!

It occurs to me that perhaps there's some confusion about what the term "nanny" means. A nanny is a babysitter who works in your house. A live-in nanny or overnight nanny stays overnight, but simply saying that there's a "nanny" doesn't imply that there's an overnight or a 24-hours-a-day sitter. And I'm sure that the posters who suggested that Eva and Gideon wouldn't have a nanny "because they'll want to be involved parents" didn't mean to be so offensive. Obviously most parents want to be involved. And one can absolutely be an attentive, caring, involved parent while still working outside the home.Â

I think a lot of these questions have already been answered in the Chapter a Day thread and the Spoilers Thread. Â Like Fsumom said, SD has confirmed the lady with the red hair is not Anne Lucas so we can rule her out
Â
Â
Sheens, IIRC, that was the red-haired woman in Bared to You, not the red-haired woman at the end of Entwined with You. I'm just going by what I've read here; I missed that note from Day.

I don't know. I really don't see Gideon quitting his job to stay home with young children . . . and I don't think working full-time means they can't be "hands-on parents." YMMV.

One note on the Maya Cross Alpha Group Trilogy -
Â
It's not that big of a deal now that all three books are out, and it's good that they're only about $2.99 each, because each isn't really a standalone novel. Cross explains that the whole thing was going to be too long for one novel (as per usual wordcounts in the genre) so for that and a few other reasons, she decided to split the story into three shorter books (full explanation on her website). The first book doesn't quite wrap up its story, the second book ends in a massive cliffhanger, and the third just published this week (I haven't read it yet). They're fun, but I'd recommend going into book one expecting to read all 3 in a row if you want a full story arc.
Â
Actually, there's so much unexplored in this world, I hope Cross decides to write more books involving different characters and getting into some of the background details.
-
I think they'll have nannies because I think they'll both want to continue to work! Probably not live-in help, though.Â

The photo of The Man of Steel in front of the cameraman is adorable. Cavill looks like he's laughing at himself, thinking, "I look ridiculous in this suit."
Â
(He does not look ridiculous in that suit.)

Does anyone think now that G And E are married now by the end of book 4 Eva will be pregnant??
Â
I don't think so. I think Day has been good about making sure both Gideon and Eva have the time they need to recover and Gideon still has a lot of work to do. Also, I think Crossfire reads like a direct response to Fifty Shades in a lot of ways. There are a hundred examples, but for one, is there anything Christian doesn't know? He's proficient at everything (except relationships) and knowledgeable about nearly everything, too. In Crossfire, Carey wonders aloud why there are always pianos in high-roller suites (which made me smile) and Eva once asked Gideon who sings a particular song and he said something like, "I have no F(&^*** idea," (which made me laugh aloud).Â
Â
In Fifty Shades, Ana could never quite manage her birth control competently. In Crossfire, Gideon asked Eva once if she was on birth control, she said "of course," and that's the end of it. I don't see any "mistakes" happening to these two. I hope they don't start a family right away . . . but I wouldn't mind an Afterward that jumped ahead a couple of years to give us a sneak peek. Â

A post from Sylvia advertising her novella, Razor's Edge. In the comments . . .
Â
"Will u have a little tease of the first two chapters of 4th crossfire in ur webpage? Getting anxious here..."

Sylvia Day: Sept 24
Â
Of course, she might have been answering a question from several hours earlier about when the novella is available to download. That date is 9/24, so it seems most likely. Drat.

Young Adult. This is a bookstore shelving designation, usually featuring characters under age 18. It used to be that certain topics or amount of graphic content wasn't sold as YA (less swearing, less sex, less drug use, certain topics taboo, etc.) but that's no longer the case for the most part. I'm not aware of any YA erotica or erotic romance, though.
-
I, too, expect unknown actors and/or people we never pictured for the roles but who will work out just great (gaining or losing weight/muscle/curves, changing hair color, makeup and staging, etc.). But Henry gave an interview in which he said that high sexuality of a role isn't a deal-breaker for him; he likes to have range and play lots of different parts. (I hear: any other roles he does might be very different from the Man of Steel.)
Â
That said, I also think HBO/Showtime serials are different from network TV. Production values are higher and it seems to me that movie actors show up more often on premium cable shows than on basic cable or network series.
-
Yeah, it's definitely open for interpretation. Gideon was making the press (and police) think they were broken up from Monday (the day after NC) on, but Eva formally broke up with Gideon that Saturday via phone (while he was at the police station answering questions). After whichever date you choose as their break-up date, it was Tuesday + one week.Â
-
According to Gideon, they were never broken up at all. In his mind, they were always together. "There is no end, Eva." Â
Â
The Crossfire Series Timelines thread might be useful, but you'll have to read with great care to avoid spoilers!
Â
In Reflected in You, Eva said that "everything changed" on Monday, after she and Gideon got back from North Carolina. That night, he was photographed out with Corinne. He's not really talking to her anymore, either, except showing up to dinner with her dad on Friday night. (Thursday, the day before, Gideon killed Nathan and used Corinne/the reception/the fire as alibis.) Two weeks after North Carolina, on Tuesday, Gideon showed up at Dr. Terry Lucas's office and he and Eva went for a drive. So I'd say they were "broken up" for two weeks.

Mrs. Blue, I convinced my husband to read the books (rather: to listen to the audiobooks while he's running). Now he talks about them with me! I'm loving it.Â
-
Sarah you can jump in and try to kill anyone. I disagree about Cary. I think he has Eva's back and only wants what's best for her. That is one of the things I like about this series; the characters are open to personal interpretation (Gideon & Eva not included). Some people like various characters and others don't.Â
Â
I think Cary's a good guy and I think he genuinely cares about Eva. I just think he's a little too reckless. Eva is - and needs to be - extremely discreet. But Cary's little jokes (e.g. not telling Eva about Six Ninths when she said she was going to see them) and his indiscretions (sharing details about Eva's sex and love life with Megumi and Trey) drive me crazy. Not to mention the drug-fueled orgy he invited into their shared apartment. I think his choices make things more difficult for Eva and Gideon. I'd rather see him grow up, but this is a game of killing off characters.Â

Wallbanger was a funny as you all said. Thanks for the recommendation! I've promised myself no more buying books until I've finished my big kids-are-back-to-school house cleaning project. Â
-
Gah. I said "save" when I meant to say "kill off." Freudian slip? (Edited to say that I'd try to kill of Cary. I'm not sure he's as good for Eva as she thinks he is.)
-
If I were going to jump in, here, I'd start trying to kill off Cary. I don't like him as much as Eva does! I'd probably save Parker, too.
-
Welcome, Daan! I'm not sure how that would work. It would certainly be a crime! But anything's possible, and that's pretty devious.
-
Thank you for clarifying.
Â
In ETW why didn't Monica notice Eva's engagement ring whilst seated at the same table during dinner, yet Elizabeth did when standing net to her? Any ideas
Â
Nope. I've been wondering this since I read it the first time! My best guess is that Day wants to show us the scene with Eva and her mom, but the end of Entwined with You wasn't the time or place for it.Â
Theories for book four
in The Crossfire Saga
Posted
I agree. I imagine Gideon and Eva will be very careful about who has access to their children! And rightly so.
Â
Also, responding to something I think I read way upthread . . . I didn't read anything in the series to suggest that Monica and Elizabeth were uninvolved parents. Eva told her father that there was no way Monica could have known what Nathan was doing to her. Eva doesn't blame her mother for not noticing; she says she was very good at hiding it (she was scared of what would happen if anyone found out). Similarly, Gideon was troubled and his mother arranged for him to see a therapist. It wouldn't be unusual or neglectful for a preteen/early teenaged child to have individual therapy sessions without the parent always in the room.Â
Â
Of course we can fault how ECV handled the situation after Gideon told her what was going on, but before she knew . . .
I'm really hesitant to blame the mothers for what happened to Gideon and Eva as children. Unfortunately, you could be the best parent in the world and not be able to keep your child safe from everything.
