  1. Yeah, I continue to be baffled by why Eva is open about her engagement with coworkers and near strangers (at the Thursday evening benefit dinner) but didn't tell her mother when she had the opportunity as they were getting dressed for the dinner.  I can't imagine Monica not noticing Eva's new ring as they're sharing a dinner table together.  Everyone else seemed to notice!

As for the police/case against Gideon, I think the secret marriage might come into play, there, with Eva unable to be compelled to testify against Gideon.  Wouldn't that be a nice twist.

I'm still not sure who handed Gideon his Get Out of Jail Free card.  I think there are clues in the text to suggest it could be Clancy, but it could also have been Victor when he came back to New York after learning what Nathan did to Eva.  He was in the room when the police told Eva about Nathan's murder, and he saw Gideon's reaction.  He's supposed to be very perceptive.  And what *wouldn't* he do to protect his daughter and her happiness?  Victor has holes in his day that are presently unaccounted for - he couldn't have been sleeping with Monica from 9-5, surely - and his arrival was also suspect, as he didn't let Eva know exactly when he'd be arriving or what his flight details were and she couldn't get in touch with him all day.  Then he met her at baggage claim at a particular time, saying he just arrived.  But he could've have gotten to NYC hours earlier . . .

  2. I was just confused about the part where Eva broaches the subject (of marrying Gideon) to Monica to ease her into it, mentioning that Gideon asked her dad's permission to marry her.  Monica starts talking about wanting a June wedding.  Eva says December.  Monica says, "Well, I have to wait until he actually proposes first!" And Eva leaves to go change without (apparently) mentioning her "engagement" or showing off her ring.  That just seemed weird to me.  Why didn't Eva explain that Gideon "proposed" already?

  3. Cool timelines, thank you!

    Hi, newbie here.  :)

I'm confused about the engagement announcement at the end of Entwined with You (page numbers from my nook copy).

    p. 219: Monica tells Eva "Trust me on this. Wait for the ring."

Of course, Eva doesn't have to wait long.  Days later, Eva and Gideon are secretly married.  They agree to tell people that they're engaged for a while, primarily so that Monica doesn't feak out.  Besides, they both want to have a public wedding in addition to their private one.

    p. 250: Monday, at work and at lunch with Cary, Eva is not wearing her ring.  "Still, I found myself grateful that I'd tucked my wedding ring into the zippered pocket of my purse. If Cary felt a growing distance between us, finding out I'd gotten hitched over the weekend wouldn't help."

    P. 251: At lunch, Cary asks, "You and Cross getting married?"

Eva responds, "He asked. I said yes."  She doesn't mention the ring.  A few pages later she admits that he's the only one who knows (p. 253).

After Eva gives Gideon his wedding ring, he puts it on and continues to wear it, unconcerned about anyone noticing.

    p. 284: Thursday, at Eva and Cary's appointment before the charity event.  Eva and Monica discuss Gideon talking to Victor and Richard about marrying Eva.  Eva suggests planning for a December wedding.  Monica says, "Well, I have to wait until he actually proposes first!"

Eva replies, "Right. I'm going to go get dressed."

Why wouldn't she tell her mother right then?

    Especially because . . .

    p. 287: They're at the dinner and Gideon asks Eva to introduce him to her bosses as her fiancé.  At dinner they're sharing a table with Eva's parents.  And she's obviously wearing the ring.  Magdalene comments on it (p. 290) and so does Elizabeth Vidal (p. 290).

So . . . why wouldn't Eva have talked to Monica about her "engagement" while she had the chance?  Are we to assume that scene happened offstage in Eva's apartment or at the charity dinner?  It seems like this would have been a very significant conversation for both Eva and Monica, especially as Monica was the main reason Eva and Gideon decided to keep their marriage (temporarily) secret.  What am I missing?
