  1. I don't think Anne came in the building with Cary and I don't think she was visiting Cary.   I don't know where you read that Raul showed that she was with Cary any place other than the fund raiser.  I do think that Anne knows where Eva lives and she came in the building with a resident she knows to case the place.  Raul might tail Anne but Cary would never hurt Eva that way.

As far as Cary cutting himself he is reverting to old habits that he had controlled thanks to Dr. Travis.

Raul identified and Confirmed that  Anne was the redhead Eva saw during the gala and the same red head that Eva saw  dancing with Cary and he disappeared with for a quickie. Raul said that Anne wasn't on the guest list but came with someone else as his plus one.

  2. I had forgot that Tat had gone to Prague just before Cary's attack.

As I've already said she's not a fan of birth control so what's gonna happen but pregnancy at some point !!!!!

Cary surly isn't the father the sooner he find it out the better for him and is well being allowing him to concentrate on himself and his relationship with Trey

did anyone read The Driven Trilogy  just to make an example  .. when one of Colton friend accused him of getting her pregnant  they made a  dna test to find  out it was his at that early stage of pregnancy . so is that possible ?

  3. Lighthouse--thanks for the NYTimes info. And Goodreads. CBY is a wonderful book.

I said before that I don't think Tat is pregnant. She is just too selfish. If she is, she won't have it. She loves her body too much. I have no doubt she's promiscuous. She's a b****. Plain and simple.

The whole Vidal family situation is weird. Ireland is a sweetheart so Lizzie did a good job with her. Chris Jr. is so consumed with jealousy that it is an acid eating him away. Lizzie doesn't scare me anymore.

The 3 people who I think are the scariest are Anne, Deanna, and Graves. Different reasons. Anne is the scariest because she is a psychopathic mess. I wish I knew the story of Graves. There is one. If the case is shelved and G is safe, why does Sylvia keep Graves in the story? As for Deanna, I don't for 1 second think she is handled.

I agree with Anne as the scariest  because her motive is revenge  .. not on Deanna though she just had a bruised ego  after Gideon rejected her that one time  .. I think she is an opportunist  so she'll be on Gideon good side for her career development , when she told Gideon about Corinne book that was outside of her contract to cover the wedding.  about Graves, she has extensive  knowledge of Gideon specially the Crossroad foundation ( she recommended it to Eva when Eva asked about a project she can fund)  and in so many ways Graves has  implied her admiration for Gideon  ..

  4. in CBY page28-29 they only thing that Elizabeth said about Brett and Eva is that "she's involved with that singer Brett Kline" So I don't think that she knows about the video (the real one) not the "Golden" one. Won't Christopher be surprised when he goes to look at it again and finds out that it has "vanished"!!

as for Cary being with Anne more than once....hopefully he is not that dumb...he didn't even know the name of the redhead at the dinner when Eva was questioning him about who he was dancing with and then later after the closet....

if Cary didn't know the name of that red head at that gala at the end of EWY it means he doesn't recognized Anne.  or his research on Dr. Lucas wasn't extensive  .. he just said has a wife and children .. but there's not much to research if he doesn't know what he's looking for..  when anne was seen in Evas' apartment building she was also wearing her wig..

  5. Brett still has the video of him and Eva having hot sex. What if he thinks her seeing it would make her remember how great things were sexually during their brief relationship? He's cocky enough (pun intended) to think he's the best she ever had and no way can Gideon satisfy her like that. He pretty much said so in Gideon's office. I think if he ever did show Eva the tape it would backfire horribly for him. It also could be healing in a way for Eva to see the desperate and messed up young woman she used to be before Dr. Travis started helping her to get her head on straight.

Gideon has already erased all traced of videos even the one Brett had. Remember he hired special people to hack on Bretts' stuff while Gideon was talking to him .

  6. What happens if Brett tells Deanna they're married? What will she do if she thinks Gideon lied to her? All bets are off, and she'll no longer take his word? Run a story about his dark side? Maybe even about the existence of the sex tape? Hard to say -- but I don't entirely trust Deanna, and I think she's smart enough that if she finds out Gideon has been manipulating her (which he has and continues to do) then there's going to be trouble.

Gideon continues to have a double standard when it comes to Eva/Brett and him/Corrine. He should tell her he married Eva. Actually, Arash should tell her Gideon is married. Gideon needs to stop ALL contact with her.

I dont think Gideon was a double standard. I think the reason Gideon asked Eva to tell Brett was because he considered Brett a threat. Eva was having a confused feelings  over Brett and she's still thinking about him even after she married Gideon   and if Brett really loved Eva this could go the other way. It doesn't make Gideon assured and so am I. How many of us not liking Eva having this feeling over Brett.  On the other hand, Gideon never thought of Corinne the same way  Eva thought of Brett.Gideon never  said his stomach flutters  when he see Corinne or that her body was amazing . So Corinne was never a threat that Gideon would take  action toward Corrine. Its just Corrine was on denial but Gideon knew it was truly over between them . She knew they got engaged  and this sent her to suicide mode, what would happened if she found out they were married. So I think they deal with their exes on different way.and Gideon never contacted Corinne it was the other way around.

  7. Iwasinger "Christopher Vidal – He is just so full of hate and jealousy towards Gideon. Not sure it is anymore than that. I am not convinced that he was molested. His behavior points more towards bitterness than damage. Just my opinion."

Christopher has some idea Gideon wanted him dead since the day he was born - wonder what happened early on that either Gideon has forgotten about, or Christopher has misunderstood, yet neither of them has sat down and discussed it?

Did Gideon said that Christopher was mad at him for seeing something that he did, but he didnt ..and Christopher was just imagining it?( (ok that wasn't the exact words but on that context) when they were young Christopher used to imitate Gideon thats why they decided to get him on a therapy.  Oh I hope he did not see Gideon and Hugh, and thought that was appropriate and did the same thing with Hugh .. (Ok that was a weird idea)  on a not so crazy, If Christopher Sr admired Gideon for everything he did and saving the Vidal Record.. what would Christopher Jr would feel..

  8. yes, Eva is only an entry level employee an assistant to a junior account manager. They got the Kingsman Vodka account because Gideon wanted another chance to meet Eva. Hopefully if they (mark and eva) didn't come up with a good RFP Gideon wouldn't have given them the account. As for LanCorp, they asked for Mark knowing (probably) that Eva was his assistant and they thought it was a way to "get" at Cross Industries. I believe they got the account (Will congratulated her for it), but they want Mark to head the project up, that is why Waters, Field and Lehman made a counter-offer to Mark to keep him. Then it dawned on Eva that she probably couldn't work on that account because of her relationship to Gideon.... Also, Gideon had made the statment that the people working on his GenTen account "that he owned their soul lock stock and barrel" in other words they were employeed by CI and NOT an outside advertising firm.

We don't know WHO Corrine's therapist is. Yes, she did make a remarkable recovery for her suicide attempt/losing the baby and her husband divorcing her. She broke the engagment off to Gideon mainly to get a reaction from Gideon. In fact she thought having s e x at the hotel was romantic.; but Gideon was relieved that she did break it off, he said "how can I get married and explain why we can't sleep in the same bed the entire night" We don't what type of s e x they had other than it was his first consensual one.

Yes, I too wondered how he took all those different women to the hotel and not be in the gossip pages....they did say that Gideon was a playboy.

all I can think of now, more to come later maybe!!

Im beginning to think Gideon did not bring that much women on his f.. pad. He said to Eva that there were just times that when he gets lonely and dont want to talk that he accept offers, He said he works hard and work out more so he was often tired. He must have made sure its a one time thing. The only women that cant let go of him were those he used more than once to get back to someone. also, I guess being kinky on the bedroom was natural for some and as long they were pleasured they dont find anything wrong with it.

  9. If you remember Arash talking to Gideon ... He said that Gideon used to poke at Lancorp at least once a week!! This is a case of Lancorp poking at Gideon; the sleeping giant so to speak. Well, messing with Eva has woken Gideon from his slumber so Lancorp better watch out because Gideon wont let it pass a second rime LOL!!

oh i love Arash ,, their banter was comical.

  10. In regards to Corrine's health..mental and physical, I thought she would be out of the picture longer than she was. They would have to evaluate her kidney, liver functions for harm from overdosing. Also she would have obstetrical issues since she lost her baby at 4 months along. I thought she would have been too devastated at the moment to pick up her craziness so soon after her suicide attempt. I'm actually feeling Corrine is in need of major help. She really is very ill. She so desperate to have him back she hasn't even grieved for the baby she and Giroux wanted so badly. A tiny piece of my heart breaks for her.

Me too, I think Corrine was in a denial stage re Gideon and even before all the suicide and miscarriage , she was already suffering from depression. Im not pro Corrine , I dont like her at all but her mental and emotional state was really on a critical stage.

  11. I have seen two reviews of CBY (one on Good Reads, one on Amazon so could be the same person) where there is criticism of grammar and typographical errors in the book.

I used to proof read/amend documents as part of my job and I cannot say I spotted even one typo, and the grammar read ok to me - did anyone spot anything that I may have missed?

On Good Reads some of the reviewers who are of the 'it's a filler/rushed/nothing happening and too much sex' point of view think those who give 5 stars and think the book did have plenty happening are lieing. I for one would be telling the truth if I said I found CBY to be a good book and that there was plenty happening - Gideon's POV letting us see more of his character, the scenes where they do actually gel as a couple (which make it more unbelievable when Eva does run), their inter-action with Eva's dad, Cary, Ireland. The glimpses of Gideon's relationships (Corrine, Anne, his mother), the scenes with Chris Vidal Snr and the short one with Vidal jnr, there is sex in the book - there would have to be as this couple's main relationship is through sex - but I did not think the sex dominated the story, and some of it was necessary to see how Gideon was gaining Eva's trust in those matters (and sadly then losing it over not consulting her).

I think some people are missing the point about Crossfire. The series is not about twist after twist that will make your head explode .. its about 2 damaged people who truly love each other but has so many issues to work out both on personal and professional level. It is also a no leap in time book so a day-to-day happening was  vital. This was Gideons' POV  and there was a lot happening on his side of the story. Those reviewer were me off.  One of them even said , the Nathans' death wasn't wrapped up,, I was like WTH , Nathans death was resolved in BTY  through Graves info on Eva and first part of EWY.. To me I love love this series.

  12. Hi everyone, I am a new member and love the entire Crossfire series.  My thoughts about Captivated by You is that I loved Gideon's perspective. I too was frustrated with Eva in the fact that I understand she wants to maintain her independence from Gideon (though how I don't know as he is a rich, public figure).  She can forgive her mother and Carey anything but with Gideon she is quick to call a break after everything he has done for her.  Why can't she be more understanding in that he is trying to protect her.  I understand she wants to be in the loop on everything but sometimes that can't happen.  She should really cut him some slack.

Anne is definitely a wacko and am wondering what she plans on doing.  Corrine needs to get a life and just leave Gideon alone.

    I can't wait for book 5!

I would really feel like Eva should forget about independence  for the meantime while all these are happening  because they have to work as a team and Im getting tired of her temper. Did anyone notice she always snapped at Gideon ..

  13. In One with You I really hope  Eva would resigned  at the ad agency and start the Crossroad project and work with Gideon  because she has to realize wherever she goes she'll be a target.   Even if Mark stayed  to complete the Lancorp project, the moment Eva left .. Lancorp will pull out. its not a done deal yet because they haven't done the RFP  it just a prelim meeting. I would think that Gideon offer  would still be open for Mark  or he might give another account to the agency to make up for the lost of Lancorp account.  and that would make  Eva not guilty for leaving  - thinking the agency lost a big account because of her .  What I love about Gideon , he clean the messes  neatly and  benefits anyone that has been between the firing line.

But then I wonder if Landcorp was really a big threat or Sylvia just showing us a side of Gideon corporate world ..  and how it would make  him and Eva as a team.

  14. I wondered the exact same thing. Glad you brought it up.

Some friends of mine are quick to jump on Eva whenever it comes to Brett but Gideon has made countless mistakes with Corrine (not even talking about his fake dating scenario with her). The whole first book, whenever Corrine called, Gideon came running. It made me so mad to read that. They both make mistakes with exes and they need to work these issues out. And soon.

Gideon cant tell Eva or anyone the fake dating . It would ruined his alibi regarding Nathans ' death.

I dont remember Gideon  kept running to Corrine (except when she called during the gala  - but Gideon explained  to her why? he has to make Corrine understand he found someone already )  so you lost me  there  lol ..  It was Corinne always making a surprise  visit in Crossfire and Gideon just handling her with respect as an old flame. Gideon and Corrine did not part in bad terms . Gideon has said himself that Corrine sooth him during that time it wasn't just enough for him to love her.  and Gidoen was a good person he knows if he done wrong to someone and he would feel guilty about it. Just like he used Corinne as an alibi to protect Eva  - so all he is feeling about Corinne was guilt.

  15. I think Cary suspects because he saw him having one of his nightmares.  Cary also had nightmares before Dr. Travis helped him.  I don't think Eva would betray Gideon by sharing his actual experience.  In fact there are several times that she laments not being able to talk to her best friend about Gideon.

Hi, Cary doesn't know the extent of his abuse  but he know he was abused. I was reading Reflected in You and I cant help but get mad at Cary  after all the goodwill Gideon extended to him.   IN RIY after the second nightmare of Gideon in Evas apartment he left .. The next day Gideon went to Evas' aparment not knowing   Eva was in his apartment. So when Cary called and tell Eva  , he told her he told Cross to "Go to " .. seriously, shouldn't he felt a little sympathy for Gideon as he also had nightmares before and should he offer a  support to Gideon on that basis and at the same time telling Eva to be cautious.

I mentioned  this because I know some of us here  were having different feelings toward Cary and he is fast becoming ungrateful to me . Cary has no problem  accepting  generosity from Cross - and when he got beaten to death it was Gideon who sort out his care at home .. but then it was easy for him to dish Cross , Gideon has always consider Cary well being too since he was Evas 'plus one..  Is it just me that noticed this?

  16. I noticed yesterday (after listening to CBY) Eva was under Gideon's desk giving him a BJ when he was meeting with his technical team.  Gideon was angry because Lancorp stole his top tech.  Eva heard the whole conversation and said "Uh oh" when Gideon reprimanded the group.  How is it she didn't say anything to Gideon later when her boss was "requested" to head the LanCorp project.  Up to this point we hear that Eva is a good researcher for Mark.  How is it she didn't put together how big a competitor LanCorp is to Crossfire?  I get that the fight was the trigger that moved Gideon forward with his therapy but this is the first time Eva really p1sses me off.

The main issue wasn't really the Lancorp  or Gideon offering Mark a  job .  It was the fact Gideon made a tactical decision to offer a job to Mark w/o telling Eva  and  would cost Eva her job .. the one that she proudly work so hard and love. She values herself as a career woman which in any case  Gideon was really supportive of her she just need to be  on her side fully in Cross industries . I think  It doesn't matter who didn't mentioned it first but its the principle of sharing and communicating the problems that would arise and the need for an equal opinion to solve it. Eva just want to know whats happening before  Gideon make the decision and she want Gideon to share things with her. In as much as Eva me off sometimes  , when Gideon explained things to her she can easily give in.  She doesn't want to be sheltered all the time  .   I could't blame Gideon though because Eva was so slow adapting her new role as his wife..  and when Eva doubts her feelings for Gideon just because of this I just want to scream at her - I wonder why did he marry her again?  ..  God I just want Gideon to be happy  -- seriously his character has been battered, bruise, so many downs , too much on his plate and Eva was his little piece of heaven with too much trouble as  a side dish and Eva sometimes is still being selfish by thinking about her self preservation.

I hope that in OWY their communication skills would improved.

  17. Hi Gcrossfire,

I read your comments about Eva and her conflict between work and her marriage and I saw it differently.  Once Eva decided to get married her alliance should be with her husband.  I am not saying that a woman/man should automatically sacrifice him/herself for the sake of their marriage, but when two people get married, it is no longer a situation of me/he/she, it automatically becomes we.

I have to wonder whether Eva's lack of a decision about the Landon Corp deal, was in response to the fact that she got married too soon.  Gideon chased Eva hard, exposed and overwhelmed her (as well as loved her deeply and unconditionally to the best of his ability) all the way to the alter.  Could it be that on some level Eva was rebelling to the fact that she chose a life and a partner that she will largely have no control over?

What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I think Eva was resisting to be under Gideon Cross shadow this was her main issue from the beginning. And Dr. Petersesn pointed out that she was resisting -- because she doesn't want to become a trophy wife or like her mother. But there was a gradual change in her  .. like working in Crossroad foundation and she was excited to be working with Gideon.  and she was coming into that terms  .. so Gideon did think that he made a tactical error by offering Mark a job w/o consulting Eva . I dont think she was rebelling .. i guess it more that she was so slow dealing with all the changes and adapting ..

  18. arash nailed it.. He said you used to poke at him a couple times a week....he said to Gideon you may be aware of whats going on but your NOT paying attention. Gideon even makes a comment to himself about Landon once again looking over at his building but Gideon had his back turned.

Gideon also said to himself he missed how simple it was to be focused on work and not everything else.

Honestly Im sick to death of the woodwork skanks. lets move along with our love story and answer the questions, Not make us ask new ones

lol  .. the thing is we were just seeing Gideons' world for the first time and whose his enemies though. He managed to deal with Evas'  but not his  and they were all  making an appearance . Most of Evas' major issues has been tied up. Cary or Monica wasn't an issues its just a part of her normal  chaotic life .. If Im going to be honest i dont want the Crossfire series to end ..

  19. Certainly cant disagree with you there Sharon. Eva's research did in fact uncover that the GenTen was the major competitor of Phaze One in Chapter 12. Eva did have major concerns at this point thinking that she would be helping one of Gideon's competitors steal his market share and that made Eva feel guilty knowing how hard Gideon worked. That was also the day she was meeting with Brett so she pushed this issue aside for another day...it was just a matter of time before this issue came to the surface especially since Raul told Gideon that Eva had lunch with Ryan Landon. Eva was in denial about the entire career woman versus Mrs.Gideon Cross issue and Gideon offering Mark a job just brought the issue to the forefront. It came back to bite Eva in the arse...she couldnt be in denial any longer!!

Yeah , me too.I think Eva wants openess but she never do the same with Gideon though  .Even Gideon admitted  that he failed to see Ryan approaching the agency because  -- lets be honest the guy has too much  on his plates and majority of those issues were because of Eva .. Now. Im beginning to dislike Eva  (and the fact that Im rereading Reflected in you as of this writing and I dislike Eva in this book)  as we continue to dissect this  lol  ..

  20. Re Eva not telling Gideon about the Landon project - she had no reason to until he told her that Landon was 'out to get him' - up to then it was just another client. He has told her that he can be a target but looks like that really has not sunk in - but can you blame her, so much has happened for her in so little time. Her mind is on helping Cary, putting her mother in her place and sorting out a wedding, and her biggest hurdle is getting Gideon to talk about his past. Gideon was always convinced she would leave when he finally told all which is now showing in his nightmares. I too believe when he told her in the past he did not remember what he had dreamt, that was truly the case, a lot of dreams/nightmares are not recalled once we wake and I'm pretty sure one of the longer term members of this forum had looked into Gideon's nightmare problem and read that things are not recalled. They are very mixed up nightmares, some truth, some imaginary events but scary as ###### when you wake and remember what you dreamt.

Hopefully book 5 has GidEva forming a strong bond from the outset, and assuming it will only cover a short time period again, that all those women crawl right out of the woodwork and fail in their attempts to hurt the two of them. I know we're also wondering about Cary/Tatiana/Trey, Victor and Monica, Chris and Liz, but those situations will hopefully dealt with as quickly as the bracelet/Nathan and Megumi scenarios and that the detail is given over to Anne, Corrine, Christopher and Gideon's mother.

Basically , Evas'  focus wasn't Gideon afterall when in fact Gideon focus was her . Half of his time  he was clearing the messes or making her happy  -( Nathans' death, Brett Kline, the sex video, selling the hotel that she called his fuckpad, etc)  whilst protecting her . and Evas' job was to push harder for him to open up . So I really hope book  5  -- Eva will focus to his husband and really take good care of him.

  21. I disagree.  Clancy wasn't subtle at all...

"Do you have a girlfriend, Clancy?"

    "I'm married."

I felt like an a$$ for not knowing that.  What was she like, the woman married to such a hard, somber man?  A man who wore a jacket year-round to hide the sidearm he was never without.  Did he soften for her and show her tenderness?  Was he fierce about protecting her?  Would he kill for her?

"How far would you go to keep her safe?: I asked him.

We slowed at a light and he turned his head to look at me.  "How far wouldn't I go?"

He made a point to turn and look at Eva.  He would kill.

    Im revisiting this one  :)
