Favourite holiday dish? Hmmmm ... that's a tough one. I know a lot of people will say turkey but I have never been a big turkey fan. I think I'll have to say my grandmother's home baked bread and rolls ... they smell sooooo good and they are so moist and wonderful. Especially dripping with butter after they have just come out of the oven! I feel like one of Pavlov's dogs as my mouth starts to water just thinking about it! :D

My favorite is Whipped Cream salad. Fruit cocktail, bananas, marshmallows in whipped cream. This was huge when I was small. Really brings back memories of being young.

:) My favorite Holiday dish is definitely Turnips and mashed potatoes mashed and mixed together. It wouldn't be a Holiday without it.

Happy Holidays to everyone.

My favorite holiday dish is a fruit salad that we make. I remember making it at my grandmother's house in the early 1960's and we have it every holiday. It is just a simple mix of apples, bananas, pineapples and mayonnaise but it tastes so good. Now all my children make it at their homes also.

Hmmm...my mom makes this baked squash dish on Thanksgiving with crushed pineapple that is really yummy. I love it. It is butternut squash mashed like potatos, butter and crushed pineapple and baked tillbrown along edges and bubbly. :)

My favorite dish is my mother's Christmas Tree Bread. It's a sweet roll with dried apricot filling and topped with icing. It's best slightly underbaked. It's not Christmas without it.

My favorite holiday dish is my Mom's Eastern Stuffing (it's been 20 years since I had it - mom died in 1988 and even with the receipe, it just ain't the same. But in my dreams, I remember it perfectly.

It's got to be the mashed potatos. Those are my favorite and I dream of them before the holiday! I'm on a diet so having thoes mashed potatoes on Thanksgiving was so great ... and worth the wait. I'm down 11 pounds in 4 weeks and held steady through the last week.

My favorite holiday main dish is rump roast. My mother cooks it in the old Irish style way by letting it cook over a low flame for a few hours with potatos, carrots and onions. It may seem like a simple dish as opposed to all the other meals people might make but it's still a favorite of mine.
