I am glad someone mentioned Corrine's appearances at the Crossfire building. When I initially read the book, I was curious as to how Corrine knew to be exiting the building at the same time Eva was returning from lunch. And, wouldn't Gideon be able, since apparently he can access the cameras at Crossfire, to check the footage to see exactly where Corrine was- either hanging out in the lobby waiting for Eva to appear or somewhere else? And, she was there near the same time Nathan was because the Corrine confrontation in Gideon's office (when she found blood on the shirt, mistaking it for lipstick) happened right after. I am not sure about Magdalene and how she fits into all of this. But I can agree that there may be a secondary character plotting to also destroy Gideon & Eva. Corrine, Magdalene or Christopher would fit because each has their own reasons for wanting to break the relationship- Corrine because of wanting Gideon back, Magdalene because she has wanted Gideon for years, and Christopher because of the sibling rivalry.
Something else that I am not sure has been mentioned before is Gideon owning a majority of Vidal Records. This reminded me of Fifty Shades when Christian owned majority shares in Lincoln's company so that when the right moment arose, he could ruin him. Is this perhaps the same motivation? Have control so that Christopher knows he can destroy the business- keep him in check?
I also have a question regarding the discussion Gideon & Eva had about their sexual fantasies. Gideon admits that he wants Eva in a sex swing. When she asks him if he's done that before, he becomes uncomfortable and tells her not to ask that question. We know that the hotel is the only location Gideon has had consensual sex before. Through Eva's eyes, we saw what was in the hotel- condoms, sex toys, clothing, but no sex swing. So where does the sex swing fit into this? I assume, based on his reaction, that he has used a sex swing before. I was just a bit confused about that, so maybe someone here can clarify.
Also, I know this has been discussed before and Sylvia stated that it will be addressed in Entwined, but Gideon's previous sexual encounters. We know that he can not possibly be telling the truth about the frequency of his flings because when he states that he's had as much sex with Eva as he has in the previous two years, they've only been together a short while. If you do the quick math, it doesn't add up. So why would he lie about it? What's the motivation outside not wanting to hurt Eva or possibly admit his own issues with intimacy?
