  1. Hello Ladies!! it's sooo good to be back.   :D

After a first read of CBY I have to say I'm on the fence,  I'm a little disappointed with it; I'll defo need a reread to make sense of the book as a whole and to figure out why it hasn't met my expectations to the full.

Perhaps "therein lies the rub". I''m going to "revisit and revise" in order to be able to take this New Gideon in.

What a marked difference there is in both register and rhythm from Chapt. 13 onward, and the second part of the book is way better than the first one.

  2. I'm wondering who would be interested in a re-read of EWY before CBY

    Hello everybody!!!

A re-read? I'm in!! It's been quite a while since I last popped in here and I'm mesmerized by the new decor of the site, The snippet has only make me crave for more so YES going back to EWY would help, me at least.

  3. Even a normal woman head over heels for a guy sending mixed messages falls into the trap of reading too much into everything she thinks is a positive sign he wants her, and she will discount/deny everything that is not a positive sign. Especially if a guy is saying one thing but doing another. Even more than hyper-analyzing every last word a man says, she will hyper-analyze everything he does. Look what Gideon was doing. Going out of his way to appear with Corrine in front of the press and not lifting a finger to stop the press from thinking they were a couple again. Graduated from talking to her on the phone to spending free time with her, especially because free time is very precious for him. Most of all, not spending time with Eva anymore. She had good reason to believe he had loved her once. Because he did in a way, as capable as he was of love back then. Was she fooling herself into thinking he loved her still but was scared to act on it yet because she was still a married woman?

    Hi hotreads

I believe Corinne was simply taken aback by Gideon's slipping away from her and was acting on it out of sheer terror to have to let him go. I can almost feel pity for her (when I'm in a really good mood, lol)

  4. Regarding Gideon sending Corinne mixed messages

If a man tells you while you are still in Europe with your husband that he has met someone and it is the first time in 5 or 6 years that he has said that and he walks out on you after you flew across the pond to see him to follow her when she leaves him and he will not be intimate with you even though he had been in the past and he tells you there is no future with him for you and he won't return your phone calls and he will not kiss you and he calls your husband to come for you then regardless of a few dinners, his message is very clear. He is just not into you and you should take the hint.

    Hi Betty, you're right.

But what if the said man is always there for you? If you're in love with him you'll hold on to that with all you have got, won't you?

  5. Sylvia posted something on FB that is a quote from a famous author.  Cannot bring it over.  Anyway, the quote was something like 10 years from now no one will remember how long that waited for the book to come out, but how good it was when it did.  Maybe someone can bring it but I kind of thought she was telling us just be patient.  Easy for her to say.  She knows how it goes.  ;-)

Hello Ladies! I just came across the post GLH has mentioned... here it is!!

He's the author of the Game of Thrones Series, if I remember well.

  6. Hi GiGi & Gabri, we all have our own tastes, don't we. I'm of the belief that most of us will not be happy with the actor chosen to play Gideon, (as per that other series turned movie).I just hope that the person chosen does the role justice. That's all I can ask for.

    Hello dogcaffeine  :)

I agree with you 100%!!! Far from me to sound judgemental. You're right, being truthful to the character is going to be a challenge within a challenge for whomever will be playing Gideon, or Christian Grey at that.

  7. I was just thinking, I wonder if Gideon wanted this marriage fast because he new he has a very dark past darker then we know and this would tie eva ro him when he sorts out his past..remember he said to her "I need this Eva " he knows whats coming

Hi Jeanmarie, you raise a good point. Remember when Eva ran off after finding the sex toys at the hotel. Gideon was frantic...I believe when she checked her phone while sitting in the restaurant she had 21 missed calls from Gideon. And... they hardly knew each other back then. I am thinking there are so many traumas where Gideon is concerned & now that they are married, Eva can't run off so quickly. Gideon & Eva need each other, we all know that. But I think Gideon is still fearful of losing Eva to "something" in his past. Maybe he's afraid of shutting her out (and I believe she has already addressed this with him. Whatever is in book 4...OMG I think it's really bad. This speculation is torture...we all need book 4 PRONTO!

    Hi jeanmarie and dgcaffein!

Gideon didn't want to be seen in public because Eva's runner, like the limo scene earlier on,  had cracked his hard shell and he was afraid his face would reveal  those very emotions he had been striving all his life to suppress. Gideon's mask as the self-assured, ruthless financial mogul can't hide the hurting boy any longer now.

  8. I think Lizzie wanted Gideon to keep the Cross name so that she always had a part of her first husband. She is selfish like that.

    Hi jls!!!

I'm afraid her selfishnesss goes well beyond that!!!! While I can understand Vidal's reasons not to adopt Gideon, I believe that In refusing to give Gideon her own name Lizzardy is failing to protect him, again. She might have told herself she had a lot on her mind in the aftermath of Geoffrey's death, what with landing herself a new rich husband and her two pregnancies; she might have told herself she was respecting Gideon's own wish to keep his father's name. At the end of the day, it was Lizzie who wasn't able/didn't care to forsee the hardships Gideon was bound to suffer under his father's name. And I won't talk about any money line, that wouldbe too mean even for her!

  9. Hi Gigi--

I do believe that from what I have been reading on fb from Sylvia that the publisher has the book.  Has had the book.  She doesn't know when they will release it which is what leads me to believe that it is the same publisher that has all her work.  Except for a couple of things, all of the rereleases have been from much older things she did including when she wrote under a different name and with other people.  So, that is why I have been saying that the publisher is trying to get all the bucks they can while she is so hot.  I don't think Sylvia is any happier than we are with the delay.  Yes, it is money in her pocket but I think she is much more invested in CROSSFIRE now.

God, I hope there is not too much more angst in 4 and 5.  We need resolutions and not more problems.  That being said, the kidnapping idea is a real possibility.

Here is another thought.  I am so not trusting of Brett.  Could he have totally known about the se x tape?  Could the whole courting of Eva been to further Six Ninths?  After so many years, he decides he wants her again?  The timing seems very convenient.

    Hello GLH

I had the same bad feeling about Brett when Eva invites him for a drink after their dinner date at Arnoldo's (Reflected). He already saw himself well-off and cosy in Eva's apartment and I wouldn't be at all surprised if he were invoved in the s*x tape gate.

  10. Good morning ladies :D

it's so good to be back on the forum after quite a long time!!!

Hi Jennifer, spanking is first mentioned in Bared on page 51 (chap. 4, Penguin edition) and Cary dismisses it as 'not deviant' (page 56)

As for the sex swing, for the life of me, I can't remember where it is, but I'll fnd it!!!

After so many rereadings, I've come to the conclusion that Gideon is not a Dom per se, but a man who wants to live out those sexual fantasies his 'Sub' (Eva) is only willing to share. Kinkiness was a means to avoid intimacy with him, not a way to achieve satisfaction of any kind. Since the very beginning of their story, Gideon is only looking forward to take care of Eva's pleasure, ("Romance isn't in my repertoire. But a thousand ways to make you come are. Let me show you." page 40, is one of many instances) and when she takes control in the first limo drive to the Advocacy Center's fund-raiser dinner, he completely lost it. As a Dom, Gideon sucks!!!

I need to have Captivated By You in my hands like NOW!!!!!!!!
