  1. Fingers and toes are crossed for both of you! Sasha
  2. Sylvia will be back from her weekend at the lake later today...I can't wait until she see's it!!! Sasha
  3. Avoiding certain things in titles makes complete sense. I'm not fond of Words I can't pronounce. :? :flower: Sasha
  4. Everybody Check Out this weeks Finalists!!! :bounce: Sasha
  5. You guys are all right to me! LOL I love titles that imply darka nd seductive, or a wacky sense of humor. Dance withe the Devil, Bad Girl, Behind Closed Doors, Out of the Dark. Chic Lit titles are getting better and better. Good Grief and Eating Bob Bons...Good In Bed (which I ended up hating the book). My own titles tend to not be to original. I'll have to pay more attention now. 8) Sasha
  6. Hi Teresa! Sylvia's at the lake with her kids this weekend but I'm sure she'll be happy to answer your question when she gets back. I'd answer for her...but I don't know the answer. Be sure to keep an eye out for her books...I'm betting she sells soon!! Sasha
  7. Hi Linda! Sylvia's on holidays with her kids for the weekend. At the lake. 8) As her cp I feel I can answer for her. . We're both hopeing you''ll be able to purchase something soon. SHe has a couple of fanatstic novels that are finished, and searching for homes right now. All we need is an editor to spot her talent and take a chance! For now, there are the excerpts on her Bookshelf page and a short story due out in Arabella magazine. (also excerpted onthe bookshelf) I'm a HUGE fan of Janet Evanovich and have read ALL of the Stephanie Plum books! I think you summed them up pretty darn good for Sylvia and won't be surprised if she becomes addicted too! Sasha
  8. Ain't that the truth. There's always going to be people that don't get it. That's something to keep in mind when entering contests and getting critiques too. (for those of us that aren't reviewed. Yet. *g*) We, as writers, have to be true to the character, and their story. And no matter what the story, not everyone is going to get it. AND, there are always some people out there that DO get it. Sasha
  9. I think it was Real Romance! Life isn't always flowers and candy. Sometimes it's steam rooms and the one you love showing up unexpectedly at your door. I much prefer a realistic look at the way the world works. AND I think people (reviewers especially) need to remember that not all of us think the same things are romantic. The growing diversity of the romance market should clue them in. Sasha
  10. I just picked up No Strings Attached at the used bookstore to round out the gIRL gEAR series. Although I must say, I'm not sure anyone's story can beat Patrick and Poes in that series. But, I feel a certain kinship with a girly girl with a potty mouth. Sylvia~ BLUE CHRISTMAS is one of my faves of Alisons. Very real and touching. Not to mention HOT! I also recommend Janelle Denisons Wilde Thing. A super sexy H in that one! Sasha
  11. Hi Ellen! There is something that calls to you about a man like that huh? Maybe it's the fact that every woman's fantasy to have a man that will do things exactly the way they like, and if they get him when he's sorta clueless....they can train him properly. (Well ok, I can't speak fro EVERY woman...but you know what I mean.) Your very welcome about the comments. I enjoyed it! Sasha
  12. Awww, you two are so cute climbing out from under your rocks! I believe, not 100% sure, that Kate will take a full novella as a submission. I haven't double checked, but that's in my brain. LOL Thanks for the luck Jordan! Sasha
  13. As someone who was following the posts I thought you both came out of it very well..LOL Sylvia, you now know Kate IS interested in Historicals...and Jordan, you now know Kate has more plans for you! Now all I need to see is my entry up there.... Mind you, if I don't final...I might send it in anyway. Not sure yet. LOL Sasha
  14. And so it starts!! I must say . . .I enjoyed the first entry. The second isn't one that I myself would be interested in though, even though the writing is good. I'm interested in learning more about the man that uses the words "turgid manhood". Sasha
  15. Now, get back to work on Sapphire! I want more!! Sasha who also thinks that when I WANT more...it's a good sign that not only is the writing good, the story is good.
  16. We all have our strongest talents. I truely think one of your is that you can make the reader CARE abotu the characters. That's huge! LOL Me...I can turn 'em on. but I'm still workign on the making them care part. LOL Sasha
  17. Cece~ You and I...both of us submitted spanking scenes to BTS and now both of us how unympathetic h's. (One of the judges from ITF didn't like that my h went out the H without thinking about the women he'd be standing up.) I'm hoping it's time for more realistic, than sympathetic. Sasha
  18. I'm with you, Jordan. I thought Lucien's Gamble was my fave, but lucky gal that I am, I'm critting Sapphire right now... and it's so good! In fact, I just finished chapter 8 and my heart is actually aching for Wulf. I just love it when I feel for the characters. Sylvia has a huge career in front of her. I wish I could write like that!*sigh* Sasha
  19. I'm hoping to go to Reno...as for the GH. I doubt it. I just don't do good in contests. Sasha
  20. I like brainstorming /plotting sessions. I can just let my mind go wild in them. LOL I think as far as how often to submit crits and to DO crits shouldn't be regulated any more than you get what you give. Unless someone specifically offers..."Hey,I don't have anything that needs to be looked at yet, but I'll look at yours now if you need." I like guidelines....but I'm not fond of RULES. In anything. Sasha
  21. Welcome Toni! You've delurked to a great group here. Don't be shy to post questions, answers, jokes, or just babble. Some great discussions are started that way! Sasha
  22. HEAR HEAR!! :flower: Sasha
  23. I find this to be a problem as well. I truly feel that you need to be honest, because what's the use if you're not?. And while being tactful is not a bad thing, the person receiving the crit should always remember that they can take, or leave, the advice given and no feelings will be hurt. This is exactly what I am finding. There are a few of us, that I feel could work well together. And personally, I'm not looking for a huge group. I'd like to keep it somewhat personal as well. So, I'll try to set up some questions and guidelines...but any of you who have ideas, questions or suggested rules please come forth with them. Like I mentioned, I've never even been IN a group, SO I'm not sure what I'm doing. Mind you, that's never stopped ffrom doing anything before. Sasha
  24. I've never belonged to an actual GROUP so I have no idea how it really works. I'm just wondering how many people out there, are in the same sort of spot I am. I have a couple of cp's, but every now and then, after they've read the WIP so many times that they know it as well as I do, I need someone with fresh eyes to take a look and offer some feedback. I don't like to share with my work friends or family, and I'm not real comfortable asking other writers, out of the blue, "Hey...can you read my story and tell me if there's any glaring holes in it?" I also don't really want to just put out a call on a message board or anything that just anyone will answer. I'd prefer it to be someone that I know, at least a bit, if possible. To me personally, I'm just hoping to find a group of writers that are interested in sharing every now and then and being there for each other. (Sort of like we already do about business and submissions, I guess I'm just sort of looking for a list of people that might be intersted in sharing their actual work, and looking at mine, if they're asked.) If help or advice is needed in a specific area, then who knows, maybe someone in the group feels like they are stronger in a certain are, and they'll offer. Does this make sense? :? Sasha
  25. In My opinion, more traffic to my site can never be a bad thing. Plus, I visit so many blogs that my Favorites bar is getting too long. I don't belong to any webrings yet so I'm in. :clown: Sasha
