Agree. After all, Eva hasn't pulled Corrine's hair. So far she's let him handle Corrine in his own way. He made need Eva's help in the end. Lol. It would be cool if he let Eva handle her closure with Brett.

Thinking about what several of you posted about Sylvia implying there's so much more to Monica's story, I have a feeling Eva is in more danger than her troubles with Nathan. And I think deep down, Eva knows it but she desperately seeks independence. She moved to NYC where her mom happens to be. She's a little dependent on her, knowing Monica and Stanton are close by. She feels super safe with Gideon in that he protects her and makes her feel safe. And she has to know what her mom keeps reiterating in that a guy with money and security teams at his disposal can do it. And everyone knows Carey protects her too. She even made reference to him not letting anything happen to her. It's the darn not telling her. Wonder why all the secrets? If Eva knew, she could keep her own guard up. I can relate to this in my own life and can't imagine going around in the dark clueless. That's treating Eva like a child. She's getting stronger. Those days are over.

AND ADD THE FACT that because of his abuse, he has a viscous sleep disorder that has caused him to keep his distance. This is actually his first true relationship. He was afraid to get involved with anyone because he couldn't let them see his vulnerable side at night. Sigh.

I get your point and think you nailed it here. Both parents let him down. ADD THE FACT that Gideon has a viscous sleep disorder that has kept him from ever really getting close to anyone. He's afraid to love for many reasons. I'm glad he said to Eva one night way back that they 'deserve ..... after what they've been through.' That's so good for him to recognize.

He does hate it. He said it in Chapter 1 EWY in the bedroom when he couldn't stay away from Eva and needed to know if she could be with him. What he feels for her is foreign and the control freak admits he may eff it up. Can't live with her. Can't live without her. Even though I'm mad at Eva for subconsciously stringing Brett along and securing another beat down for him, I'm proud of her trusting and waiting for Gideon as he opens up. In that sense, she's more mature via therapy. At least Gideon recognizes that she's the love of his life. He does a good job of telling her and probably because he recognizes her low self esteem. I am just getting the love/hate thing in my head tonight and from the posts here. Wow. I have to rethink.

GiGi you say this perfectly! Gideon is struggling. I know we loath Lizzy, but she raised a guy we're loving and pulling for.

I went to a writers convention that the authors opened up for fan meet and greets. I walked away not remembering anything other than the fact that Sylvia is so friendly and sweet. You did great remembering what you did!

To Sharonm and Kristen and all who asked these wonderful questions to Sylvia THANK YOU! Oh my! We needed this! The thing that I didn't get was the love/hate Gideon has with Eva. I thought it was cut and dry that he kept Eva in the dark about things to simply to protect her and keep her from worrying. I wasn't thinking of the angle that it's his independence in not 'needing' Eva... the not giving her another piece of himself. I feel sorry for Eva. She's an adult and I agree with her that if they are tracking her whereabouts and doing things for her that she should know. What would it have hurt for Gideon to call her from California and put her at ease? That was selfish to do to the new bride. But now I get it! Thanks again #applause.

Brett said way back that Eva just disappeared and that he always hoped she'd show up at a concert. When they were younger and sexual together, he didn't know why she was 'dropping to her knees' and about her abuse. He was just enjoying it. It only makes sense that those feelings for both have picked up a little where they left off. Eva needs to mature a little and quit playing games. Knowing men, I'm sure there's a part of Brett that wants to show Gideon and everyone that he can win the prize... his boss that kicked his a s s 's girl. Not gonna happen of course. I'm sure Gideon will be with her in SD one way or another. Also, I don't think we have enough info to say whether Brett knew about that live footage for the real sex tape. I do think that Christopher has a hand in it, and is in on feeding info to his mom about. Oh gosh I can't wait for the next book. LoL

I am in the group that says Sylvia has ruined us. I too have reread... over and over. Now I'm listening to Audio of EWY. Have to giggle because the female reader doing Gideon's voice doesn't do it for me. In this whole crossfire journey, that's the only thing I wish diff. A male saying Gideon's lines. LoL

Great job xfire! I'm going to stay up and read your work tonight when my husband leaves for out-of-town. Yayyy. Sarah, Are you saying Monica doesn't realize she has an engagement ring? I took it that Monica meant a wedding band. She doesn't want Eva living with a man until she's got the band. I think she'd be happy to find out that they already married. Eva just knows that her mom and she have some animosity on Eva's behalf and everything happened a little too fast. She wants things straight before that adventure. I am so happy Gideon and Eva are married. I was on Gideon's side. I'm ready for the big wedding! I went to one a while back where the two sophisticated mother-in-laws were on the ground at the reception choking each other. Monica isn't gonna let Lizzie stop a wedding. And I went to a huge one last weekend where the bride's parents were under the impression it was a 5th anniversary vow renewal when it was actually THE wedding. The opposite of Gideon and Eva. OMG.

Can a little petite Corrine be 4 months pregnant and not know? Gideon said her husband thought it was his. I think Eva and Gideon are still kids when it comes to dating. They're mature beyond measure because of their abuse, but immature when it comes to relationships. Eva and Cary are not long out of college fun times and Gideon just worked all the time. I'm married to one of those CEO's LoL. I'm thinking back to that time in my life. I remember telling my now husband, I do what you do. You flirt. I flirt. You cheat. I cheat. That's terrible to admit, but it set the tone and we have that peace that Gideon and Eva are feeling. TRUST. Now with that said... Yes, Eva is absorbing the fact that she's married and they truly belong to each other. Peace. But I think there's a side to Eva that's enjoying or flattered that the one she used to chase is now chasing her. Immaturity. SHE KNOWS Gideon is watching Brett, yet she's cutesy texting and going to meet-up in San Diego STILL. I think Gideon is setting the tone by clinging to the Corrine guilt and so Eva is subconsciously doing the same. They need to just stop (but then we'd have nothing to discuss!)
