  1. Can anyone remember Tats hair colouring please? Please don't let it be brunette! Was it blonde?

" ... leggy blonde ..." from Chapter 19 of Bared to You. Her last name is "Cherlin" -- Eva found out when Tatiana showed up at her apartment, spotted Gideon for the first time -- and immediately hit the guy with her supermodel smile. And got NO-WHERE!!! Check out page 278 of Bared

  2. She might combine her desire for revenge and her wish to get him laid in one last revenge f*ck..... but then I'm sure that a little spark of hope to win the ultimate prize is going to make things even worse for her.

She would be much better off as foreign specialist correspondent (does such a figure exist?) from... India? Australia? Japan?

    France!!!!

Ship Deanna back to France along with Mr. and Mrs. Giroux, please and thank you. Though not on the same plane, please -- Deanna's already had her cheap shot at Corrine (those photos of Gideon seeking out Eva in Times Square.)

Gideon has got five private jets. Surely he can spare separate planes for his brunettes.

  3. "Did Corrine Know About The Baby?" has become the hottest subject of speculation since "Did Gideon Kill Nathan?"

Oh please, please, please tell us Sylvia, yes or no about Corrine, like you told us yes about Gideon. :) :)

I'll gladly eat crow if I'm wrong in my belief "yes, Corrine knew." I'd been right all along about Gideon, though I gladly would have been wrong about that.

  4. I'm thinking Tatiana is one of her informants.

Someone mentioned on FB that Tatiana could be Russian, her name is Russian, just a thought xx

Tatiana has become quite the hot little topic today!!!

I think Sharon is on to something about Tatiana being one of Deanna's anonymous sources. Deanna was sniffing around Cary, and it's an easy jump to Deanna sniffing around Tatiana for any dirt about what went on under Eva's roof. I was stymied about how the heck Deanna found out about that Ian guy (the one Gideon clocked). Tatiana might have found out about the fight during pillow talk with Cary, then passed on a twisted version to Deanna (Eva caught in a threesome by Gideon.) Of the people around Cary who he might have said at least something about the orgy to, the one I can't trust as far as I could throw her is Tatiana.

Tatiana with ties to Russia? From Russia With Love -- Tatiana, gangster's moll. Oh we could get silly there weaving all sorts of plots to amuse ourselves.

But to add a serious theory on the subject of Tatiana, I'm not convinced she is pregnant. Or if she is, that she has any intention of going through with the pregnancy. If she's so paranoid about side effects of The Pill causing problems with her appearance (and thus her modelling career) then I have trouble believing she'd go through with carrying a pregnancy to term. If Tatiana is lying, what's her motive? To get access to Gideon via the Cary/Eva connection? Because Tatiana certainly has succeeded now in inserting herself into Eva's life -- and thus into Gideon's too.

  5. Getting back to Nathan's bracelet, I totally agree with whoever said the Stanton's have a lot invested in the Nathan situation. Remember Gideon said in Chapter 3 he is not a suspect and not even a person of interest. I think that means that the Stanton's are because they certainly do have motive and opportunity... Even Monica wonders at the end of Reflected why the police are still breathing down their necks. That being said Clancy is right when he says that taking care of Eva is not just a job. I'm sure he has a lot invested in Eva's situation too. It was probably Clancy that did the investigating into Barker's house staff and others and paid off the protection to those who knew Eva and Nathan's story...It would only make sense that he planted the bracelet and put an end to this whole a preposterous situation for the Stanton's and Eva. Lets pray that it is over with!!

The "not a suspect nor person of interest" is a line Gideon's lawyers were fed, just like Eva was fed the line the investigation was being dropped.  In both instances, the truth was being bent practically to the point of flat-out lying. Because Graves has figured out who committed the killing (Gideon) and as-of Chapter 14 of Entwined, Graves and her partner Mincha were still working the case -- including informing Gideon's lawyers they (the detectives) had some sort of break in the case.

The fact that Stanton was being hounded by the police, including having copies of office videotape seized, indicates he too was (perhaps still is) at the very least a person of interest and possibly still suspected of some sort of involvement.

Whatever Graves' agenda is, she fed Eva only what information she (Graves) needed to further her own agenda. That does not mean she told Eva everything. Just like Gideon being Mr. Half Truths, what got left out of Graves' leak could prove interesting if this Russian gangster matter is pursued any further. Because I can't see we readers being left like Eva and Gideon (and Graves too) wondering what the deal was with Nathan's bracelet somehow getting from his dead corpse onto the dead corpse of some gangster.

  6. I think it was between cancelling her first flight and booking her second, that she found out she was pregnant. She had to quickly put her plans in action, if she was to trap Gideon.

You and me both, Julie. We're both on Team Corrine Was Resorting To Trying The Oldest Trick In The Book To Trap Gideon.

Something turned Corrine to full-tilt desperate schemer that week. I suspect she just missed her second period in a row and found out she was around 6 weeks or so pregnant. So she hatched a plan to get to New York in order to get Gideon into bed as quickly as possible, her crazy goal to trick him into thinking he'd knocked her up and then getting him to marry her before he figured out how far along she actually was. Because she conveniently was going to "miscarry" anyway (i.e. get an abortion).

We don't know how far along the divorce case was, but the story very strongly suggests they definitely had filed. If Corrine was ready to leave France, my assumption is the divorce was practically finalized and it no longer was necessary for Corrine to attend any more court hearings. As for how she ended up pregnant -- well maybe a last ditch effort by JFG to stop the divorce before it was too late, something that turned into Corrine giving him a mercy f***?

  7. Various thoughts on Chapter 7

    Yet even more sexual healing

    • In Chapter 5, Eva started light-heartedly role for Gideon to give him a fantasy situation in which he was just some ordinary 20-something having a woman he'd recently met over to his apartment for the first time. It was an ordinary sort of experience that Gideon had never gotten to experience -- and it was very good for him.
    • In Chapter 6, Eva made a more daring move of trying to get him to experience consensual anal play. Gideon wasn't ready to go there yet, but the way Eva handled things reinforced for him that when it comes to sex, he can trust her.
    • So now in Chapter 7, Eva resorted to some more role playing, this time being the teen-aged fantasy wet-dream. "I want to be your dirtiest fantasy," Eva teased (page 96)

In all three instances, I see a pattern of Eva "starting over" with Gideon, taking him to the ordinary places he ought to have gone as a teen-ager and a young man, and trying to replace one dark place he'd been dragged into as a very young teen (non-consensual anal penetration of some sort) with a light place of adult consensual exploration.

    Deanna

    • "She can't hurt me unless she hurts you, and it's possible that's what she'd really after," Gideon predicted when Eva became determined to return Deanna's phone message from earlier that evening. (page 101).
    • And look what happened when Eva found out Deanna's real angle of wanting to portray Eva as a victim of an abusive relationship, terrified of a now-ex-boyfriend so insanely jealous he's actually beaten up three men over her. She was willing to make Eva collateral damage in sensational stories about Gideon Cross.
    • Meanwhile, had already figured out from the get-go it was a personal sexual grudge Deanna was holding against Gideon.
    • Eva knew from personal experience  Gideon "... could be as much of a d*** as any guy ..." (page 91). She figured out he must have left Deanna feeling the same way he'd left Eva herself feeling immediately after he had sex with Eva for the first time -- he left Eva " ... feeling used and worthless." (also page 91). Only when she got on the phone with Deanna, though, did Eva find out just how horribly he had treated Deanna and how bad she'd felt afterward, " ... like a wh***, only I didn't get paid." (page 103)

So I see a pattern about both of them being right in the gut feelings they have about Deanna. I found it interesting, too, that Eva felt bad for Deanna getting used, given that Eva didn't feel bad about Corrine getting used in a far more serious way. Maybe because in a way, Corrine asked for it while Deanna didn't. Because both women were playing dirty with Eva. But with Corrine, it had been personal.

    The Girouxs

    • Gideon swears that every word that comes out of his mouth is true, so I'm taking at face value his statement he'd already had his eye on Jean-Francois Giroux's winery before Friday of the week he cut off Corrine and got back with Eva.
    • But how long had this been? My own theory: as soon as he started using Corrine, he'd already been thinking two and three steps ahead to the day when it would be safe to beg Eva to come back to him and to edge Corrine out of the picture all the way back to France. Going into business with JFG would send a clear message to both women. Because why would the men enter a business relationship if JFG was being cuckolded by Gideon carrying on an affair with JFG's estranged wife?
    • I think that when the black roses from Eva arrived in his office, Gideon took that as a sign he should push hard that day to make the deal actually happen -- and -- to actually talk to JFG for the first time about what was (and was NOT) the deal with Corrine.

Telling Eva about the deal later that night over dinner was, I think, Gideon's way of trying to prove by his actions he really was nipping Corrine's romance hopes in the bud (pun intended -- get it, Black Rose). Eva needed some sort of action as reassurance. Because Thursday morning, the morning after their reuniting, she begged Gideon "No more Corrine. I can't stand it." (page 32). He told Eva he'd already cut Corrine off. Yet Thursday night, Eva indirectly brought up Corrine again. By getting Gideon to promise he'd call on Ireland if he needed a woman to accompany him somewhere social/business related, Eva was trying to make certain Gideon would not ever again resort to using Corrine for social appearances.

  8. My impression was that Corinne called Gideon a lot.  (According to her every day)  I think she made one of her daily calls and told Gideon she couldn't stay in this marriage any more and she was coming home to the U.S.  Per Gideon, he was already off because of the limo s e x and went to pick Corinne up.   I don't care how anyone looks at her Corinne is a manipulator.  I suspect she told Gideon it is his fault that her marriage isn't working because she is still stuck on him.  It was during this conversation that Gideon told Corinne that he found someone who is good for him.

Corrine was still in France that night Eva and Gideon made love for the first time. Corrine had already booked a flight to New York, and she had called Gideon to get him to meet her when she arrived -- having no clue at the time she suddenly decided to leave France for good that Gideon had just met someone new. Corrine found out that very night though, when Gideon had a chance to really talk over the phone. It's why he ditched Eva early -- so he could have as long a phone call as Corrine needed.

Corrine cancelled her flight, because she couldn't bear the thought of seeing Gideon and Eva as a couple. It took her another week or so to work up the courage to book another flight, that time carrying through on her plan to go back to New York for good. Or maybe it was desperation that drove her. Corrine's a stalker, so obviously she'd have followed celebrity gossip about Gideon for quite some time. How else would she have known all the other women he ever dated were brunettes like her. In the days immediately after she'd first found out about Eva, Corrine would have seen the red carpet shots of GidEva at the advocacy center event, the passionate kiss on the sidewalk candid, and even video of the fight-and-make-up in Bryant Park. Meanwhile, she apparently got in at least one more phone call with Gideon that week, because Gideon told Corrine that Eva was getting him to open up.

  9. I'm thinking Tatiana is one of her informants.

Oh Deanna's got multiple informants (or "sources" to use the journalism term). But Tatiana wasn't one I had considered until you floated the possibility -- and it's a great one, because I'd been trying like crazy to figure out how Deanna found out about Ian.

The part about a Cary-Eva-Ian menage obviously is a lie, but the part about Gideon showing up in the middle of a sexual clusterf*** and clocking Ian is true, as is the part about Ian wanting to press charges. Ian had been saying that the next day, long before Ian knew who Gideon was (Ian tried getting the name out of Cary, who wisely claimed he didn't know who the guy Eva "brought home" was.)

I can think of one of two ways how Ian found out the guy who hit him was Gideon. One would have been by looking up Eva online and discovering photos of her with Gideon. However, the other could have been through social contacts connected to Cary. Tatiana doesn't like Eva, and Gideon can clearly see Tatiana is a pot-stirrer. I can see Deanna starting to sniff around Cary, which could have led her to Tatiana -- and Tatiana passing on wild rumors about how Ian supposedly got his nose broken.

As for the source about the fight between Gideon and Brett -- the one thing Deanna did have her facts straight about -- my theory is that Christopher Jr. was where Deanna started. She probably already knew Christopher Jr. from her covering the sort of social events where she met Gideon. For all we know, Christopher got his own little revenge f*** in with Deanna. I'm thinking that Christopher connected her with either one of the members of Six-Ninths or perhaps the band's manager. Deanna said she talked to an eyewitness to the fight, and she obviously was telling the truth there. So who could have been a reliable source that was actually on hand? We know for a fact the rest of the band plus its manager watched the fight.

  10. There's an old adage," snake talks with fork tongue"

For heavens sake, she's a journalist(no disrespect to any journalists here) she is after a good story, that's what she does. This woman has bills to pay, do you think she cares about people's feelings(mind you, Gideon didn't care about hers in his f*ckpad). Why suddenly change tack. Gideon giving her attention. Hmm. I'm being cynical again. She is up to no good.

Disrespect away, Julie -- as a former journalist, I'm the first one to say there's a lot of snakes in the profession. Kinda like lawyers: tread carefully around them ;)

The larger the news market, the more cut-throat they are, none more so than in New York City and Los Angeles. Television journalists are the worst - most of them are hired for their charisma, not their brains. Newspaper people (I used to be one) snark about TV people, saying stuff like "Dumb blondes come in all hair colors and both sexes". Next to the worst are freelancers, because for them it purely IS about the money, NOT any sort of sense of idealism.  Weigh ethics up against money, and most of the time money will win out for a freelancer.

Right now, the reason Deanna is in Camp Cross is because there's a lot of $$$$$$$ in it. But once Gideon does give her those wedding photos, he's going to have to figure out some other way to control Deanna next. Eva's right -- he's "watering the weed". He needs weed control.

  11. I agree-it did seem like she was calling some of the shots desperately trying to move the relationship to get down the aisle.

p.s. I don't think I've ever met a man who had to be talked into getting a blow job :o

    Classic one liner!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

It was the time (middle of the business day with 15 minutes to spare) and the place (middle of his office) that he needed to be talked into. The bigger issue was breaking through more of Gideon's rigidity of where and when sex fits into his life.

But yeah, it is funny the thought of Gideon having to be talked into accepting a blowie from Eva there, especially because the first time he had Eva in his office, she ended up on her back on his couch, skirt hiked up to her waist. ;)

  12. With regards Graves I'm wondering whether she does have a soft spot for Eva and Gideon and is still rooting for them. If I was a cop and saw pictures and dealt with a per.vert like Nathan I wouldn't care if he had been murdered, she even said previously that Nathan's ultimate plan was to eventually kill Eva!

I'm wondering if when Graves said to Eva to keep thinking about the bracelet that it wasn't a threat as such but more a warning that someone else knows that Gideon killed Nathan and because Graves doesn't know who the person is or what their intentions are that Eva should still be weary. We are all hopeful that whoever dealt with Nathan and made the links to the mafia is on Gidevas side but maybe Graves is more pessimistic than us!!

Perhaps Graves did tell the truth to Eva that she (Graves) and her partner have together decided to (bad puns intended) -- kill the investigation and bury the facts they uncovered .... the gangster puts Graves' judgment call in jeopardy, and if things get really hinky, then Graves and her partner might get caught.

Because the gangster angle raises the possibility outside law enforcement agencies could get dragged into the case -- and even the case getting taken over by the FBI, the U.S. nationwide government police agency. The vast majority of criminal cases, even the most serious ones like murder, are handled by each individual state within the United States. Right now, the potential case is State of New York vs. Gideon Cross.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation handles only certain categories of crimes, ones that cross over state lines and become national in scope. One of those categories is "organized crime" -- national and international crime gangs, like the Mafia. If the FBI starts sniffing around, then we're talking about a potential new investigation United States of America versus Andrei Yedemsky (that's the name of the now-dead gangster). In the worst case scenario, the investigation of Nathan's murder could be taken away from the NYPD and taken over by the FBI.

The possibility is remote -- the fact the gangster is dead makes is more likely the matter will be shelved as unsolved. But if for some reason, some authorities thought Nathan's murder was part of an even bigger case involving organized crime by the so-called "Russian Mafia" then the FBI could completely take over the whole Nathan murder investigation. Starting with copies of the entire Nathan case file the NYPD assembled.

Even while that bracelet has given Gideon some protection, it has exposed Graves to more risk her decision to quietly send the Nathan murder case into legal limbo might get discovered. So it is in her best interests too to make certain that whoever did plant evidence connecting Nathan and Yedemsky also is friend -- not foe -- to Gideon. If it turns out the person who planted the evidence is protecting Gideon, then that person also has ended up protecting Graves and her partner Mincha.

  13. I think Gideon let Arnoldo know that something came up and he wouldn't be at the restaurant.  I also think that Gideon asked Arnoldo to keep an eye on Brett & Eva.

Arnoldo let Brett know that Eva was important to Gideon.  Brett said she is important to me too.  Arnoldo then said "may the best man win"  Eva responded "I'm not a prize. Or I should say: I'm no prize."  She felt Arnoldo didn't disagree with her.

It soon dawned on Arnoldo that Eva wasn't happy.  He knew that Eva wasn't enjoying herself because he noted that she loves to eat and she hardly touched her food.  He also noted that Brett wasn't aware of this love of food and, therefore, didn't know Eva that well.

Just like Gideon has serious trust rebuilding to do with Eva, Eva has got trust rebuilding to do with Arnoldo.

  14. I was thinking Deanna was looking for revenge.

Let's hope Gid's apology and the promise of wedding exclusives makes her back down and GO AWAY. At least we might be able to get rid of one crazed woman!

Deanna, like Monica, is one of those women willing to put money ahead of love. Gideon has successfully "bought" Deanna. That said, she'd still jump at the chance to jump his bones.

  15. I still don't understand why the "sparring" session Det. Graves wanted and had with Eva.....seems she wanted to take her frustrations out on her and probably did.

I wonder if Deanna wants a repeat performance from Gideon....when Eva suggested to throw a drink in his face or just tell him off she would feel better, Deanna replied  " I know what would make me feel better" !!!

Graves is definitely continuing to "play" Eva for some sort of cop agenda Graves has going on. What's not clear to me any more is exactly what that agenda is. At the end of Reflected, I was convinced Graves was out to try to trap Gideon using Eva as bait. I'm no longer sure what the case is, though.

But I don't for one second believe Graves simply "ran into" Eva at the Krav Maga studio in Entwined, any more than I believe Graves "ran into" Eva the first time. Scattered among the various truths Graves said to Eva that first time were lies, especially Graves lying about the fact she and her partner were dropping their investigation. It's crystal clear Graves lied, too, about simply bumping into Eva. She wanted info from Eva that night in Reflected -- and she wanted it still in Entwined.

  16. Hi GiGi.....good thoughts!!  But remember Corrine proposed to Gideon.

You're 100% right, Barb -- Corrine proposed to Gideon, not the other way around. It's all laid out on page 328 of Bared to You.

Corrine was the one who first chased Gideon on the campus of Columbia University, who got him to go to bed with her, who first said "I love you." Gideon told Eva all about; the end of Chapter 21 is where Gideon and Corrine's past history is covered. The start of Chapter 22 is where they then talked about Corrine in his present-day life -- and where we got the first red flag about Corrine stalking him, a story line that would erupt fully in Entwined with You.

Always -- ALWAYS -- things were all Corrine's idea, from chasing 18-year-old Gideon at school to stalking 28-year-old Gideon through New York City high society circles. The only time Gideon ever took a lead with Corrine, it would seem, is when he started using her to help protect himself (and by extension Eva) from suspected involvement in Nathan getting murdered.

  17. At first, it struck me really strangely that Arnoldo was being so nice to Eva and Brett that night at his restaurant. Because the last time Arnoldo was face-to-face with Eva, he was chewing her out for having hurt Gideon so badly figuratively. Arnoldo had to have resented Brett, too, for having hurt Gideon literally -- there was a bruise on Gideon's jaw on Monday. Monica saw it at the hospital, and Arnoldo would have seen it Monday night when Gideon took Corrine out to dinner at Tableau One.

God only knows what went through Arnoldo's head that night Gideon showed up with Corrine. Because Gideon would have let Arnoldo assume what everyone else was assuming, even Corrine herself. Far too much was riding on things that night, when Eva's very life was in danger and Gideon was scrambling to get things set up so he could kill Nathan as soon as possible.

The first night Gideon had Eva over for dinner at their love nest, the dinner fixings came from Arnoldo -- lasagne and salad. My guess is that when Gideon ordered up the food, he set Arnoldo's mind straight about Corrine being history and let Arnoldo assume Gideon was seeing Eva again. Because that's exactly what Gideon did two days later with JFG.

So when I read things over a second time, I realized that Arnoldo being so "nice" to Eva and Brett at his restaurant was really him babysitting the pair of them for Gideon. Not to mention Arnoldo reassuring himself, by watching Eva politely have dinner with a ex she had passionately kissed, that Gideon truly had "won".

  18. I have always felt that when Corinne said that about Gideon being so possessive of poor scared little her, she was either lying through her teeth, or at best wishfully thinking. She was saying it to get to Eva. I also don't believe he started that dominant sex toy stuff till after she was out of the picture. I don't think he would have enjoyed that kind of scene with her. He was relieved Corinne was gone, but he needed some form of activity in her place - and he really needed to feel in control of his sexual feelings. And I'm sure he didn't want to get involved with some other clingy demanding passive aggressive girlfriend. Not to speak unkindly about Corinne, though :)

Given that Corrine was the one to seduce Gideon and all along was the person attempting to deepen the commitment level, I can see Corrine as the one who first introduced Gideon to, shall we say, kinkier stuff in the bedroom (er, make that hotel room). Figuring out his need for control, did she start encouraging fantasies, not unlike Eva encouraged fantasies years later? Eva talked Gideon into accepting a blow job in his office the first week of their relationship.

Corrine has proven herself capable of desperate measures -- desperate even all those years ago, by trying to manipulate Gideon into marriage. I can see her trying to manipulate Gideon sexually, having discovered his "weakness" of the perceived need to be in control. No wonder Gideon told Eva he refused to be topped, even from the bottom. Maybe he figured out being topped by Corrine years ago was one of the major problems in the sexual area of their relationship. Outside the bedroom, Corrine pretty much called the shots in the relationship, while Gideon just went along with it.

  19. It seems lately like S*x tapes are being released to make people more famous.  Eva really has nothing to gain from such video, however Brett has everything to gain.  Think...Golden is about Eva and the music video is pretty steamy already, however if a REAL video of them in action is released that could do great things for him.

You're right - Brett has everything to gain from a steamy sex tape of him getting out. It'd make him even more of a stud in the eyes of all fans, men and women alike, and it would make female fans even hotter for him, proof of his virility and his sexual preference for women.

Unfortunately, it would be very much at Eva's expense, because double standards sill exit. People would think Brett's a stud, but many would consider Eva a s.l.u.t.

So I can see Brett actually being as upset about the existence of the sex tape as Eva is (and Gideon too). Brett feels bad enough as it is for having treated Eva like a groupie s.l.u.t years ago. He's in love with her and wants her back. The last thing he wants is for her to be subjected to ridicule.

  20. I think Magdalene has seen the light finally. I think part of her reason for talking to Eva that day was to warn her about Deanna and gauge how she would handle her.

But I think a large part of it was her trying to make amends with Eva by telling her Corinne was out of the picture.

I think she realises that Gideon wants Eva and will eventually get her, and if she wants to continue her friendship with him she needs to become friends with Eva.

Magdalene has known Gideon a long time and if she truly loves him she wants what is best for him. Because of the length of their friendship she knows he has never been happier than when he is with Eva.

In hindsight, I wonder just how far back in the story Magdalene first starting making amends to Gideon for having been such a b**** to Gideon's new girlfriend -- and who all along was keeping Gideon's best interests in mind?

    Timeline:

    1. Saturday night: Gideon and Eva's first date, the advocacy center event, where Magdalene was there too. When Magdalene got her first look at Eva, Gideon already was on his head trip and being a cold jerk. Magdalene guessed correctly he'd already f***** Eva. Think about his long history of immediately throwing sex partners onto the reject pile coupled with how he was treating Eva at the event itself. The man even ditched Eva to leave early by himself. That was bad. What else was Magdalene going to assume, but that he was done with Eva and was already trying to avoid Eva. So Magdalene attacked Eva. Sure, part of the motive was obviously Maggie being mad that Eva and not herself got to be Gideon's date that night. But what if Magdalene also was doing her friend  Gideon a service by trying to run off Eva so that Eva didn't start stalking Gideon at social gatherings like Anne Lucas had done?
    2. Monday lunchtime: Gideon convinced Eva to become his full-fledged girlfriend. During lunch, Eva told him exactly what Maggie had snarked to her. Gideon immediately chilled (sign of him getting mad) and promised he'd take care of Maggie. It's safe to assume he called Maggie that afternoon, and given how scared he was about his ability to hold onto Eva, probably chewed Maggie out.
    3. Tuesday dinnertime: Gideon went to a business dinner alone while Eva kept her promise to have a pizza night with Cary and Cary's new boyfriend, Trey. Maggie ran into him at the restaurant and they talked outside afterward -- him about Eva, and Maggie looking pleased (Happy for him? Having already apologized to him on Monday and had her apology accepted?) Some paparazzi got a shot of them together on the sidewalk, though, looking friendly and the next day, there was gossip speculation about an Eva-Gideon-Maggie love triangle.
    4. Wednesday lunchtime: Eva was furious he'd talked to Maggie, the woman who had been so mean to her. Meanwhile, he was paranoid about the gossip speculation of a Gideon-Eva-Cary love triangle. This is when Gideon and Eva fought in public near Bryant Park, a fight caught on video and in pictures. So that too fueled the fire.
    5. Thursday daytime: Maggie made her failed attempt to see Eva, showing up unannounced at Eva's office. Eva arranged for someone on Gideon's staff to fetch Maggie instead, and Megumi reported Maggie was furious about it. What if Maggie's real purpose had been to get Gideon off the hook about that picture of her (Maggie) and him on Tuesday night? Or what if Maggie was worried about Eva upsetting Gideon so much on Wednesday that he actually dropped his public mask and argued with a woman in public? Coincidentally, this particular Thursday was the day on which Gideon sent Eva the Dear Jane note, but there's no way Maggie would have known about it.
    6. Sunday daytime: The garden party at the Vidal estate. Maggie, longtime friend of the Vidals, was there. Eva showed up without Gideon. Then Gideon remarkably showed up, completely of character, and immediately started fighting with Eva, literally dragging her off. Maggie hoping they'd already broken up and Gideon was mad that Eva was pulling stalker stuff? But then Maggie walked in on that HAWT make-up sex in the library. And ended up weeping to Creepy Christopher that she believed Gideon was in love with Eva.
    7. Fast forward to the fundraiser Corrine crashed: Maggie immediately latched onto Eva. Was Maggie possibly trying to head off a public scene between Eva and Gideon, like Bryant Park? And when Maggie found out how clueless Eva was about Corrine, decided to forewarn Eva. Maggie was a witness to the first conversation between Eva and Corrine, the one in which Corrine already was playing mindgames. Then during dinner, Maggie sat one table over in order to eavesdrop on the entire drama unfolding at Gideon's table.
    8. Next morning: Maggie phoned Eva at work to get Gideon off the hook for his having been stupid enough to let Corrine monopolize him at dinner the night before. So Maggie was protecting Gideon. All along, he'd been trying to head off Corrine messing with Eva. Maggie also reinforced the fact that Gideon truly has been treating Eva differently than any other woman in all the long years Maggie has known Gideon. Yet more amends by Maggie for having treated Eva so badly the first time they met?
  21. Snapshot #7 really stumped me when it came out two months ago. Well played, Sylvia, well played indeed. It was a lot of fun spinning theories here in the weeks (actually the months) leading up to Entwined being published, because as clever as some of us got at times, the author proved more clever still. I hope some of the more cockamamie conspiracy theories got her laughing.

Of my own set of theories that fell under the cockamamie heading, the biggest one had been my fear that the pain medication Cary had to take after the beating tipped him back into active drug addiction. Because the last time the medication topic came up in Reflected, Eva had brought home a bottle of non-alcoholic champagne and specifically reminded Cary, "Can't mix your meds with booze, you know." I thought it was a red flag.

What I never saw coming was that Jean-Francois Giroux (and thus by extension, Corrine) owned a French winery, La Rose Noir (in English, The Black Rose). Thank God, though, this snapshot (all of the snapshots actually) were symbolic, not literal. It used a symbolic picture of roses and wine. Can you imagine how nuts this forum would have gone in early April if those roses were black roses instead of generic red ones? I know I would have started going down a possible list of which character(s) died.

There are four roses in the vase -- three of them clustered together on one side and the fourth on its own. The three representing the existing Eva-Gideon-Corrine love triangle from Bared and Reflected, and the fourth representing Jean-Francois entering the picture as odd-man-out?

The bottle is newly opened and the glass contains just enough for the traditional move of sniffing and then tasting the wine. Ties to what Eva asked Gideon on page 97, "When do I get to try the wine?"

And making a big stretch here -- "cork out of the bottle" stretching to the expression "cat out of the bag" -- Gideon letting the cat out of the bag to Eva about him not only going into business with JFG -- and even more significant -- Gideon letting the cat out of the bag to JFG he (Gideon) is seriously involved with a woman, but that woman most certainly was NOT Corrine (let JFG fill in the blank Gideon must mean Eva.)

On we go with our deep-dive into one chapter per day. How it works:

    1. We're trying to avoid mentioning anything that happens beyond today's chapter. The idea behind sticking to just the chapter -- plus anything coming before it -- is that fans still reading the novel can start talking about early chapters without coming across stuff from later in the book they haven't read for themselves yet, stuff that might spoil surprises of what's to come - "spoilers".
    2. Pick a favorite quote or paragraph -- oh h e c k pick plenty: it's so hard to choose sometimes. Sylvia started the pick a quote (or paragraph) system when she started the group effort to re-read one chapter per day of Bared to You and Reflected in You.
    3. Have fun!!! (That's the real easy part!)
