The New Entwined Clues Sylvia Is Posting

My theories on how Victor will act/react with different people upon finding out -- finding out just about the abuse, mind you (not finding out yet Gideon is chief suspect in the killing.)  Here's the order in which he'll face the individuals involved, all of whom had kept him in the dark  Eva: long hug, long cry -- and as gently and firmly as possible, insist upon her being honest with him about all the past and present, especially the recent past. Unlike other people around her, who have been less than honest with her, Victor is going to demand full disclosure. He's going to want to know exactly what Monica DID and did not do ten years ago. Want to know what Stanton did and did not do after he became Monica's third husband sometime in the past four years. He'll want to know who has told Eva what about the events of recent weeks, both before and after Nathan died. Also, he's going to demand to know what her "ex-boyfriend", Gideon, had to do with all of this.  Monica: I shudder to think. I predict that he's going to be enraged that Monica's insistence on choosing money (finding a rich husband) over love (his willingness to marry her and raise their child together) led to what happened. And that it went on for FOUR years? I think Victor will stop short of coming to hate Monica, but I think this will forever destroy his love for her. That is going to be one very bad showdown. And unlike others, who coddle and placate Monica, Victor is going to be blunt. And he's not going to let Stanton run interference either.  Stanton: once Victor is done with Monica, he'll turn on Stanton and try to subject him to cop-like interrogation, demanding to hear right from Stanton himself about his involvement in the whole mess, starting from years ago when Stanton paid big money to tighten the secrecy and continuing right on up to the recent extortion attempts. If Stanton will even agree to talk, given that Stanton has been under police investigation. Victor will be pretty insistent, however.  Gideon: same deal - Victor is going to want to interrogate Gideon just like he'll want to interrogate Stanton. But Gideon definitely will refuse to talk to Victor, probably refuse to even see Victor. The danger is too great the detectives will try to use Victor as a possible means to help nail Gideon. But I can see Victor showing up at the Crossfire anyway.  Cary: Victor will cut him slack. Cary had been in therapy with Eva and thus the stuff Cary learned there really is sacred in a way. It was appropriate both as a fellow patient and as Eva's best friend to abide by her wishes to keep his mouth shut. And Cary is a victim of Nathan too, victim of the very serious beating. -

When Gideon and Brett were trying their hardest to kick one another's a*****, Eva had been pleading with Angus (who is Gideon's bodyguard) to stop the fight. Angus refused to do so, telling Eva that Gideon knows when to stop.  Angus has known Gideon since he was a kid, and obviously has been a trusted person in Gideon's life, as near to a positive adult role model as Gideon ever had. I hope in Entwined we learn more about Angus' history with Gideon.  If I had to make a guess, though, I would say that Angus was the one who got Gideon to channel Gideon's anger problems into a healthy outlet - physical activity. Gideon studies mixed martial arts, and I wonder whether Angus was the one who steered him toward it. As a grown man, Gideon has spent a lot of time working hard and working out harder, mentally and physically expending his energies so that he really didn't have much left over for stuff like sex.  Every so often, Gideon got some sort of offer he couldn't refuse, but Gideon told Eva that before she came into his life, sex had been mostly something he could take or leave. Given the state of the guy's libido, he must have really been working out with his fitness trainers to bleed off his energy. -

Victor had a real problem with Brett -- Victor figured out Eva was debasing herself being a groupie to the guy. Between that and the tattoo artist Victor literally caught cheating on Eva (and probably some other lousy boyfriends too) was what finally drove Victor to realize his daughter needed serious help. It's why Victor sent her to Dr. Travis. Â So yep, I can see Victor less than thrilled by headlines of "Brett and Eva!!!!" This on top of headlines "Gideon and Corrine!!!!" (i.e. "proof" Gideon was a cheater too, just like Mr. Tattoo artist.) Â Poor Victor probably will at first fear that Eva moving to New York at the start of the summer was one huge mistake, and wish he could talk her into moving back to San Diego. -

I think the only reason Nathan did leave in one piece was because Gideon realized if he beat Nathan into a bloody pulp: An ambulance would need to be summoned to Cross Industries headquarters Eva would find out someone was carried out of Gideon's offices on a stretcher Nathan would end up in the emergency room, which would be obligated to report a serious assault to the police The cops getting involved would guarantee Eva would find out Nathan was in New York Gideon could be charged with assault and battery = media finds out and goes nuts Nathan could be charged with extortion and/or possession of images that constitute child p*** = media finds out and goes nuts  When Eva first told Gideon about Nathan, her motive for doing so was fear that some reporter could dig into her past, find the money/legal paper trail, and run stories Eva feared would damage Gideon.  I'm guessing Gideon remembered this terrible fear of Eva's -- not for his own sake but for her sake -- and that's what stopped him. He knew that if authorities got involved again, Eva would be hurt badly.  As Angus said, Gideon knows when to stop. Stone-cold sanity must have washed over him along with the thought of something along the lines of this -- "There's got to be a better way to punish this sicko, one that Eva won't ever find out about." -

I think Brett will play fair, will soon figure out he really doesn't have a chance, and then will give up gracefully, going back to San Diego.  Unlike someone else's ex -- cough, cough -- who has fought dirty, who is deluding herself into believing she'll bed and then wed the guy ..... Who knows how well (or not) she will handle losing. Hopefully, she'll go back to France. -

I think that as long as Eva did not directly use Brett again -- like she did by taking him to lunch to get even with Gideon -- Brett would not be collateral damage. Spreading the truth about something in the past -- how furious Gideon was with Brett and Eva after the concert -- is really all that would be needed in order to make things harder for the cops to nail Gideon for motive.  Eva has been guilty in the recent past of sending Brett mixed messages (the kiss and then the lunch date). But she told him honestly as she went to leave the restaurant there was no chance she would take him back. He didn't take "no" as a final answer, because he obviously thinks he does have a chance. Because a part of her is still warm for his form, and at the time her relationship with Gideon was collapsing (and now is over forever, Brett would honestly believe.)  As long as Eva is clear with Brett in any direct communications she has with him that she is NOT interested, then, well, he can give it his best shot chasing her and then finally give up. The media is going to run some truths, half truths and flat out lies about them as a couple -- but hey, the gossip mongers pulled the same stunt spreading lies Cary was one of Eva's boyfriends. -

He sure did -- in fact, he asked her point blank whether her having lunch with him had " .... anything to do with Gideon getting back together with Corrine." (page 326 - ouch)  Rather than confirm or deny it did have something to do with Gideon and Corrine, Eva instead asked Christopher point blank why did he hate Gideon so much. Christopher's response to that was to ask Eva whether she wanted to compare notes -- i.e. he was hoping she now hated Gideon too.  Rather than bluntly confirm or deny she too hated Gideon, she played along with the offer to compare notes -- and then she spent the meal listening to Christopher rant. -

My theory is one of the reasons Gideon/Monica/Stanton originally all had been stringing Nathan along was to attempt to find where he had the originals store -- and to seize those originals. I'll bet Gideon was even willing to break the law to steal the originals. When this all first started, I think their main fear was Nathan hurting Eva via releasing those images, now that Eva was a celebrity of sort as Gideon's girlfriend. Priority #1 was to make sure she stayed in the dark about him. Priority #2 was to seize the hurtful material so he could never again use it as a weapon.  Everything changed, though, when Gideon realized the photos/videos were the least of the dangers he needed to worry about. Nathan could more than hurt Eva figuratively (hurt her mentally/emotionally) Nathan posed a literal real and present danger to Eva's very life, and so Gideon decided the only way to guarantee Eva's physical safety for the rest of her life was to kill him. -

Nathan had been in Gideon's office on Thursday midday.  Monica spotted him out on a sidewalk near the Crossfire the following Monday midday. Nathan may have been in the area stalking Eva, not there to see Gideon. -

I'm the one who posted that if Gideon were arrested, it might be hard to impossible for him to get bail. This knowledge comes from twelve years of having observed court cases, including murder cases, in state and federal courts.  Even indigent defendants often get denied bail if the charge is first-degree murder (pre-meditated murder). Facing the possibility of life in prison, a defendant doesn't have much to lose by attempting to disappear and attempt to live the rest of his/her life as a fugitive. In fact, some forbid bail, period, for folks charged with murder one -- a judge couldn't even grant bail if he/she were inclined to do so. (Note: criminal laws, including the laws governing bail, vary from state to state.)  Rich or poor, one of the factors considered in bail is flight risk. Extremely wealthy people generally are thought to be at higher risk, because they have more resources to be able to live a life on the run. -

It's not illegal -- in fact, a court case in New Jersey established a legal precedent there is no law against it.  Casinos do, however, consider it cheating, because the player is manipulating the odds. If they suspect a player or players are card counting, casino security will manufacture an excuse to eject those players and bar them from returning. Casino security has pretty wide discretion to throw people off the gaming floors much like bar tenders have discretion to throw patrons out and then forbid them from returning in the future.  I know this from an old college friend who used to work as a high-stakes blackjack dealer.  P.S. Casino security also would throw out angry players, even those losing large amounts at the high stakes tables, if the players get drunk and disorderly. Above everything else, the casinos want to maintain control on the gaming floors. My college friend has some fascinating stories about stuff that she'd seen on the gaming floors. -

Favorite quote from Chapter 6 is on page 95. Eva's trying to chew Gideon out for having a security guard assigned to come between her and other people (i.e. guys) during her Las Vegas weekend. Gideon, on the other hand, is still amused by her retaliatory stunt of having some huge gorilla of a bodyguard stand between Gideon and other people while Gideon was conducting business in Arizona. And Gideon is in the process of "distracting" her by dry f***** her. Â It turns me on when you challenge me, Eva." His voice lowered and became raspier, dripping with sex and sin. "It makes me want to f*** you. For a very, very long time." Â End of argument. -

The twice weekly snapshots are going in chronological order -- Chapter 1, Chapter 2, etc. Â If Andie's intriguing theory is right that these daily countdown pictures are going in reverse order - Chapter 22, Chapter 21, etc., then this paparazzi picture would apply to Chapter 15. Snapshot 15 for that is the man's hand grasping the bedsheet. Snapshot 16 is that red set of stairs/bleachers that might literally be a picture of a set of bleachers in Times Square. Â So how's this for a theory - whatever goes on in bed earlier in Chapter 15 (sex, nightmare?) the chapter then moves to Times Square, with the cliffhanger ending being Brett, having just been talking to Eva within sight of Gideon, runs to the stage and announces "Golden" is present. Some paparazzi ambushes Eva just as Gideon approaches her. -
For Gideon and Eva hiding at home, a 1980s dance tune, Secret Rendezvous (the singer is Karyn White)  Couple of the verses ...  From a penthouse view we'll make love, drink champagne by candle light I'm so glad I'm in your arms, baby, I am yours tonight To be with you is all I need, so lock the door and throw away the key No one will disturb this groove, we could not stop it if we wanted to  I wanna ride you through by candle light I wanna hurl you and squeeze you through the night So lock the door, throw away the key in ecstasy

Gideon was so very careful with her sexually on Thursday and again on Friday -- between having seen the Nathan pictures and seeing her in the grip of one of her own awful nightmares. Â On top of that, he was anxious about the distance that Eva had created between the pair of them by her reaction to Corrine. Following the stunt Corrine pulled at the Crossfire, Eva was beyond triggered, the deeply wounded insecure/jealous buttons inside lit up like a Christmas tree. At the time, Gideon thought (wrongly) Eva just wasn't handling the situation well. Be that as it may though, now he himself was mad she had begun to mistrust him. -

Paparazzi.  Gideon is a celebrity who has been photographed and written about for years -- from business profile stories to formal shots of him walking red carpets over the years in a string of women on his arm, until recent weeks all of them brunettes. For the first week of their formal relationship, Gideon had been photographed with Eva on red carpets as well as twice out in public -- one of the latter situations deliberately manipulated by him. Those "candids" were the only photos of him ever taken showing real passion toward a woman. But then Eva disappeared from the radar, and two weeks later the gossip world went wild over pictures (deliberately stagged) and word (also leaked) that the beautiful brunette Gideon was out in public with was his ex fiancee, Corrine.  Meanwhile, Brett Kline has suddenly gained celebrityhood himself -- not on the scale of Gideon but now a nationally known rock star, not simply lead singer of an indie rock band. And near the end of Reflected, word started leaking out he was after Eva.  So Gideon seeing Eva in secret means he also has to sneak around the paparazzi, not just the cops -- double danger he might get caught with Eva.  Meanwhile, there's a strong likelihood that Eva, who went back under the radar after Gideon stopped taking her out in public with him, is suddenly going to be thrust back into the public spotlight again. Deanna Johnson knows about Brett. When Brett comes back to New York, it's almost certain the story of the connection between Eva and him is going to make headlines.  In fact, I can see Deanna deliberately stirring up the Eva-Brett pot as a way of Deanna taking a pot shot at Gideon. To Deanna's knowledge, the sole original reason Gideon dated Eva was to get Corrine's attention. However, even Deanna saw in the candid photos of Gideon and Eva that first week of their relationship that Gideon had become seriously hot for Eva.  Thus I can see Deanna thinking along these lines, "Well, Cross has been in love with Corrine Giroux for a decade now, but even still, it would really anger him to see Eva Trammell hot and heavy with someone else. Let me see how I can stir things up so that Eva-Brett is splashed all over the place. It'll be a form of my own revenge -- and as a two-fer, it'll be a cheap shot against Corrine too, because she's not going to like the sight of her future husband sexually jealous over another woman." -

A Chapter A Day Re-Read Project - Today is Chapter 6 of Reflected in You  This chapter starts Sunday (day 20) and continues through Monday (day 21 - three weeks since Gideon and Eva met).  Key plot developments On Monday, Eva went to lunch with her new friend, Megumi, and her mother. As the women walked back to the Crossfire, instead of taking Monica's chauffeured car, Monica saw something that badly frightened her. She refused to tell the mystified Eva what was wrong. But whatever Monica say, her driver/bodyguard Clancy, who had been following along in the car near the women on foot, saw it too, and he insisted on loading the women into the car. Sunday, when Gideon arrived at the resort to pick up Eva and Cary, she semi chewed him out about his having assigned a security staffer to (what Eva believed) keep guys away from her. We readers found out how Eva got even - through Clancy, she'd sent a security person to interfere with Gideon's freedom of movement in Arizona. Eva found out the way Gideon had gotten the money to start building Cross Industries was through gambling. He'd cheated at blackjack by counting cards -- and over the gaming tables, young Gideon had begun making important business contacts.  After each of us has read Chapter 6, Sylvia would like to know what each of us liked best - either a quote or a paragraph. -
One Chapter A Day - Re-Read Of Bared and Entwined

Chapter 5 of Reflected in You - The Readers Guide  This chapter covers Friday (day 18) starting in the evening and goes through lunchtime Saturday (day 19)  Key plot developments Gideon's mood was withdrawn and pre-occupied all day Friday, with him unusually quiet - and this made Eva feel anxious he's pulling away from her. She bridged the widening gap between them lovemaking -- taking an opportunity to indulge her transportation fetish by having sex in one of Gideon's private jets en route to Las Vegas Via their weekly Saturday phone conversation, her Dad announced he plans to visit her in New York the weekend after next. She told him she wants him to meet Gideon, taking her father by surprise, who before then had been told the relationship was nothing serious. We readers learned more about her parents' past and some things about her own past, including her recent past from when she lived in San Diego.  New characters: Brett Kline, mentioned in passing and not yet named Another boyfriend in Eva's past in San Diego, not named (minor) Mr. Mitchell, Monica's second husband, mentioned in passing (minor) Shelia, resort security person assigned to guard Eva (minor) Daniel, a resort guest who struck up a friendly conversation with Eva (minor) Alison, Cross Industries employee (minor)  A glimpse into Eva's recent past in San Diego On Saturday afternoon, Eva had her weekly telephone call with her Dad. Some of the stuff that went through her head during that call provided us with several key pieces of her recent past, the four years she lived in California near her father while attending San Diego State University. From previous chapters, we knew that Eva being an angry troublemaker is what prompted her father to get her to enter therapy with Dr. Travis. In this chapter we learned that "trouble" especially alarming to her Dad had been her self-destructive behavior with guys who were bad for her. From page 87: "He'd especially had trouble with a lead singer for whom I'd been little more than a groupie and a tattoo artist whom my dad had pulled over to find him getting a b*** job while driving -- and not from me." That paragraph is the first mention of Eva's ex, rock singer Brett Kline. Meanwhile, the reason the subject of boyfriends came up in this chapter was because Eva told her Dad she wants him to meet Gideon. Victor is planning to come to New York to visit the weekend after next. Victor previously had been told there was nothing to the media buzz Eva was Gideon Cross' new girlfriend (because on the earlier occasion Eva had discussed Gideon with her Dad, Gideon had ended their brand new relationship days earlier, and at the time, Eva believed it was over for good.) Given Eva's past history of poor choices in men, Victor expressed immediate skepticism of the latest guy in Eva's life. In turn, Eva did worry about what would happen when her father, who as a cop is highly trained at observing people, would see her and Gideon together - he'd be able to pick up on the fact real tensions existed between Eva and her new boyfriend.  A glimpse into a more distant past - Eva's parents At the time Eva was conceived, her father had been a Latino boy "from the wrong side of the tracks" and Monica had been a debutante envisioning a future with a wealthy man. Eva believed the passion between the pair of them must have been pretty hot for them to have become lovers. To Eva's knowledge, her parents had not seen one another face to face since before she was born, (despite the fact that they had some sort of indirect contact so that Victor could be a part of his daughter's life.) Monica had been married three times (Stanton, her current husband, being number three). We knew the first marriage had been to Nathan's father, and Monica divorced the guy because of what his son had done to Eva. In this chapter, we learned the problems that led Monica to leave her second husband (last name Mitchell) included compulsive gambling. Around the time that marriage was falling apart was when Eva had decided to move away from her mother and go to California, to attend college and be near her father.  Part of Eva's past weighs heavily on Gideon present Around Eva on Friday morning, Gideon had been unusually quiet and pre-occupied, and his bad mood was still the same when he board the private jet Friday evening that was taking Eva and Cary to Las Vegas then continuing on to Arizona with him. Eva feared he was pulling away, and so to bridge the gap, she came on to him, and they spent three hours making love in the plane's bedroom. Gideon was exceptionally controlled though, about intercourse itself, because he didn't want Eva left sore. The night before in her shower, their lovemaking there had not involved intercourse, period, per his control of the situation. In the plane, essentially, she ended up having to beg him to nail her. Because Eva was being -- and would continue to be -- kept in the dark about Nathan, she had no idea that the afternoon before, Nathan had been in Gideon's office, revealing to Gideon photos and video Nathan had taken of Eva when he'd sexually terrorized her as a girl. Then the night before, Gideon for the first time saw Eva suffer one of her own flashback nightmares of being raped -- the first one she'd had in a long time, Gideon learned from something Cary said at the time. Eva would, to her dismay, see the first openly aggressive security protection of her on Saturday at the Cross hotel where she and Cary stayed for the weekend. A female resort security staffer stepped in between Eva and a guy who struck up a conversation with her poolside. Eva correctly guessed the woman had been ordered to monitor her, and Eva's questioning of the security person unveiled the woman's orders included an entire list of situations she (the security person) was to insert herself into. Eva got mad, believing this was Gideon's possessiveness of her, an attempt to keep other men away from her. Eva was unaware that what she believed was simply a babysitter of sorts appointed to watch her was actually a bodyguard set up. Also, Friday after work there had been another bodyguard situation unknown to Eva. She was supposed to have let Angus drive her home after work, per Gideon's order, but she refused the ride, preferring to walk home for the exercise (and to take a little petty revenge for Angus having given Corrine a ride the day before.) Angus warned her Gideon wouldn't be happy about her refusing the ride. -

One Chapter A Day - Re-Read Of Bared and Entwined
LN Cronan replied to LN Cronan's topic in The Crossfire Saga
Re-reading Chapter 5, something jumped out at me about what Eva was thinking when she was having her weekly phone call with her Dad, what was going through her mind when she told her father she'd like him to meet Gideon when he (her Dad) came to New York to visit.  "My dad was a trained observer; he'd see right away that Gideon and I had tension between us ...."  Victor certainly saw a great deal of tension between the pair of them the night he met Gideon. Did he also see love in Gideon's eyes too, when Eva wasn't looking? Ireland had picked up on some of that, and she barely knew her brother.  And what did Victor think about Gideon's dancing around the questions the detectives threw at him -- about him knowing Nathan and about his whereabouts on Thursday?  Is Victor currently anti-Gideon right now, buying wholeheartedly into the appearance that Gideon cheated on Eva? Because after Eva went to bed, Victor found out about Corrine and Gideon online, including that Gideon had been with out with Corrine the night before.  How might this change -- for better or for worse -- when Victor finds out what the now-deceased Nathan had done to Eva? Might Victor immediately become suspicious that Gideon had something to do with the killing? Or might he believe Gideon had essentially ditched Eva because he (Gideon) had found out about the Barker family skeletons and wanted to distance himself from it?  Ultimately, I think Victor most definitely will be part of the happily ever after, but I wonder how rocky the immediately future will be between Victor and Gideon -- just how antagonistic might Victor feel toward Gideon in the immediate future, given events of the recent past.  Because in this Chapter 5, we find out what really had been the story behind Victor getting his daughter into therapy, what had alarmed him about her. It was watching self-destructive behavior she engaged in with guys who weren't good for her. He'd been especially upset seeing her settle for being little more than a groupie with a singer (this is the first mention of Brett) and having been involved with a tattoo artist who was a cheater. -

It's husband number two. The Kindle and my own paper copy of the novel have it right.  The audiobook contains an error. I'm not sure if the error originated in the script the narrator was handed, or if there had been an error in the book text itself in the first edition, caught and corrected in subsequent editions.  Monica's first husband was Barker, Nathan's father -- she left him over what his son had done to Eva. That was 10 years ago. Monica's second husband's last name had been Mitchell -- the story strongly suggests compulsive gambling plus some other issues caused Monica to leave him. That marriage being in trouble was one of the reasons why Eva chose to move away from her mother and out to California four years earlier. Richard Stanton is Monica's third and current husband. -

I suspect Cary's attitude is "the best way to get over someone is to get under someone else." That and he probably has a subconscious desire to get even with Gideon for Gideon having broken Eva's heart. He might not even realize one of his motives is to get the ultimate revenge against Gideon for having broken Eva's heart -- Eva taking Brett to her bed would be a serious blow to Gideon's manhood and his public image.  Promiscuity is of both Cary and Eva's emotional make-up, one of the legacies of past damage and betrayal making it hard for them to have healthy relationships. And in Cary's case, he self-sabotages relationships. Eva's moved on in her journey toward wellness - she's regained sexual self-esteem. And she's in love for the first time in her life. But Cary meanwhile is continuing to screw around. Part of him knows he's messing up -- the whole mess with the orgy was a wake-up call, as was getting beaten half to death by what Cary suspected was some woman's jealous husband/boyfriend. Yet here he is at the end of Reflected still ruining his own love life by continuing to sleep with Tatiana even though he knows Tatiana is a dealbreaker issue for Trey. In other words, Cary is messing up his second shot at getting back together with Trey -- and Cary is also trying to mess up any second shot Gideon might have at Eva. -

What mischief might you cross? Not "... might you cause" but rather " ... cross."  Cross with a small "s" not capitol. Play on his name? OR .... cross paths with someone. With mischief being a factor.  Is Cary along with the gang for the "girls night" -- and spots GidEva going at it? Or if Cary is at home and he knows which club Eva and the girls are headed toward, might Cary make a phone call to tip someone off? Brett?  Oh dear. If the snapshots are any clue, the nightclub sequence starts in Chapter 9. If the plot pattern holds, with dramatic developments coming in odd numbered chapter and then the what-happens-next twists come in even number chapters, then we're in for a cliffhanger at the end of Chapter 9 and some serious decision making in Chapter 10.  Bared to You: Chapter 9 cliffhanger was Eva pulling her first runner on Gideon, fleeing the hotel room when she figured out is was his f*** pad. Chapter 10 - what he did about it was make her the first woman he's ever taken home with him.  Reflected in You: Chapter 9 cliffhanger was Gideon attacking Brett when he found Eva in Brett's arms.  Chapter 10 - what they both did was finally figure out just how bad the underlying insecurity problem was, and they arrived in North Carolina, where they'd manage to have some very honest conversations. -

Theories: Alone time and external ramifications = the need to sneak around will continue to be an issue. I think they'll need to stay under cover for nearly all of the novel. But this can be a good thing, because they'll have one another's undivided attention. It'll be almost like North Carolina but in the middle of New York - them staying in and hiding from the outside world as they hide with one another. (Well, mostly staying in -- I'm dying to read that sex-in-the-nightclub chapter!)  Insecurities and concerns about other people ... her comfort level being stable ... he's actually struggling with more = externally, the two love triangles will continue to be issue. But Eva-Gideon-Corrine isn't going to trigger Eva anymore; she'll be able to handle the situation moving forward, knowing now for sure Gideon is hers (Eva's). However, the Gideon-Eva-Brett triangle, which already had been causing Gideon to lose control, is going to be even harder for him to bear, because of Gideon's own insecurities. He'd lost control by beating Brett up. Then he took a horrible risk by contacting Eva at a time when he desperately needed to 100% avoid her, took the risk because Brett gave an interview indicating he (Brett) had reconnected with Eva and wanted a second shot at a relationship with her. Now Gideon has to suffer in silence and exercise extreme self control during whatever happens next. The fact Deanna Johnson already knows about Brett now means the tabloids are about to go nuts with all sorts of stories linking Brett and Eva -- some truths, some half truths and some lies. Plus, Brett has the freedom to approach Eva without any overt ramifications from Gideon.  Her being stable .... new stability to the whole relationship .... a lot more moments of calm and connection = New Eva is in charge Old Eva, with her own raging issues, was also to blame for the relationship turning rocky and then falling apart. But finally, she's faced down her twin demons of jealousy and insecurity. No more outbursts, no more over-the-top bad reactions -- no more running away when things get rough. Definitely no more of the wound-and-run pattern Dr. Travis had worked so hard to break but which came back during the early days of her relationship with Gideon. So now he'll finally be able to face his own demons of insecurity and jealousy -- and fear of abandonment. Circumstances will help teach him to finally trust Eva.
