i couldn't agree with you more. When I read the books for the first time-I've lost track of how many times I've read them-I didn't like Gideon. The way he treated Eva was appalling. But I totally change my opinion of him, when I read it a second time, and understood the story better. I understood his fears for Eva, to keep her safe at all cost. Certain things fell into place. You can't just read this series once. When I explained certain scenes to a friend, she said she understood it better.
