The perception is that romance books are very light reads ,sometimes lacking in substance ,with a certain and easily gotten to HEA but often that's not the case .Look at the type of things we are exploring with the Crossfire series and the stuff we learn not only from the book but through the research you do on your own triggered by the book and wanting to understand the characters. In a lot of ways the Crossfire is a very dark read and I've certainly learned a lot about childhood sexual abuse ,the laws in the USA ,gynecology ,mental health etc right here on this forum. The mushy stuff is why we love it of course but we do go through a lot for it .
I agree

Hi Sheens
I saw it and thought WOW!! so the pic was taken live, and not photoshopped? AMAZING!! wasn't being under such aÂ
thunderstorm a litle scary, though?
Â
As for the sun, I'm going to try my very best!! I'm really fed up with this never-ending heat wave and would kill for some heavy rain!!!
Yes it was taken live, we had more last night and a house was even set on fire with it last night, we have not had it this bad for such a long time. Â I love the Thunder and Lightening well when I am in the house that is LOL.
Â
We are still very warm and humid but would like some sun so anything you can do would be great LOL

Or Colin.

You cannot cut back on Henry, or Sylvia's books, they are our addiction.
Well and truly hooked!
I agree with you there Julie,
Â
-
Ladies you are killing my pocketbook. I had to take my grand kids to see Superman and now I know I'm going to buy The Tudors, not to mention all the books I'm buying, even though I promise myself I'm cutting back. If this continues I will need a part-time job to subsidize my addiction.Â
I need to by the Tudors as I loved that and when Superman comes out I am buying that so I have Henry at home Oh the thought Yum Yum
-
I totally agree ! Â He was the sexiest on The Tudors and that look with the longer hair was how I picture him as Gideon. Â Good job finding it for us to enjoy
I posted a pic I found on the Spoilers Thread, not many of him in Breeches though

Hi Sheens--
Â
Sharon is right. Â These books are wonderful. Â I think the main character, Lindsay Boxer, served as a model for the series THE CLOSER. Â Just my opinion. Â The 4 characters are fun to read because, as women, we know how important our girl friends are to us. Â It is fun to see how they interact and help each other to solve cases. Â Different women but so close. Â The romance is definitely a subplot for all and serves to make the characters more human. Â
Â
Love Nana Momma also. Â Love how Alex has an amazing heart. Â Lately, though, Patterson's books are not written as well. Â Wondering if he has become too popular and gives an outline to someone else to write.
Â
My husband and I do read some books in common. Â Lee Child has a character we both like but I think is aimed at men more. Â Jack Reacher. Â Since I am into more contemporary romance these days, we are not reading the same stuff. Â lol
Â
With the weather being so awful this summer and having to spend more time indoors, I have been a reading machine. Â
Thanks
-
They are crime novels. There are 4 friends a detective, medical examiner, journalist and DA. They work together to solve and prosecute a case. There is always a romantic relationship but it is a sub plot. #12 was just released around the same time as Entwined so it sat on my Nook for awhile before I got to it.Â
Thanks Sharon

Â
Ummmm what is he thinking  ?????
I am sure we could guess
-
A BiG THANKS Â to whoever told us about the 2 prequels to the Blackstone Affair. Â They were perfect and tied in the modern day story perfectly and it sounds like #4 will continue the old/new relationship. Â
You will have to educate me here, what are the Blackstone Affair, I have heard it before but for the life of me I cannot remember what those books were or their titles and the authors, can you help please

I always wondered when she said petite was she referring to her height? I thought that Eva is 5'6 or 5'7. i don't consider that to be short.Â
well I am 5ft 2inch and classed as petite not in the stomach region I may add though LOL, but I always thought maybe she was about 5'5 or 5'6 but very curvy and petite that way in her waist etc

Hi SharonM and GLH
Though i haven't picked up these books in a while I too love James Pattersons Alex Cross and the Private series he has an easy style. My hubby introduced me to the books and he reads them religiously as they come out .My favorite character is Nana Mama I love her and think she has such wisdom and grace .I used to read the Kay Scarpetta books when I was much younger and loved them .I agree about about books that pull you into the story ,you're always better for it .Jeffrey Archer is someone else I read without fail ,his writing for me is very unique.
I would never read what my hubby reads, he loves SAS books so loves Chris Ryan and Andy McNab books, he just laughs at me as I only read romantic books, he thinks I am just mushy LOL
-
I forgot Women's Murder Club. I read those too.Â
Are these crime novels or romantic novels, Never heard of them SharonÂ
-
I agree! I spend so much on books a month. I don't want to even add the numbers up. Ever since i found this forum and all of Sylvia Day's wonderful books, i have turned into a book junkie!
LOL, I think we are all getting like that just now

I think Chris Vidal Snr should be next or Elizabeth Vidal, they are both spineless and we don't know yet what Lizzard did to her son
