  1. Please excuse me if this is not an appropriate topic for this forum or if it has been covered already. I'm new to this genre and have been completely seduced by these books. I've got to give them a rest for a while and need to find something else to read. EIY will be devoured all too soon and then there will be the long wait for #4.

I've read some reviews and lists of supposedly comparable books, but haven't liked any. None had the depth of characters, lively sharp dialogue, and solid plot to go along with the erotic side. The only book I liked I picked up the other day from this group - Dublin Road. Read it last night and really enjoyed it, though nothing can compete with...

Anyway, I've only been a member here for a couple of weeks, but reading everyone's comments, which are funny, literate, clever, and full of interesting background knowledge, makes me feel like recommendations from you all would really be worth having - as opposed to the kind of (to use Gideon's phrase) "spank bank" p*** with cringe inducing dialogue I've seen listed elsewhere.

Just a place where people could add new titles we could investigate would be super.

  2. Gideon's gathering of info about Eva goes waaay beyond GPS. Gideon had even already looked up the marital status of Parker, the situation and whereabouts of Shawna's boyfriend, etc. And I'm not even counting the obvious things like where Eva went to school, the brand and products she uses, clothing sizes, etc etc. He could never have had the time to do all that himself. He must have a head security guy who organizes those info searches.

Early on Eva asks if she really wants to know how extensive the research he's done on her is. Gideon's reply, "probably not." He was right because she would have freaked for sure.

Eva calls him on it sometimes, but she never changes him.

  3. One thing I've been wondering about during all the discussion and worry of the police searching for evidence of a continuing affair between E&G is what about evidence from the security team, if indeed there ever was one? How could either Gideon or the Stanton' s be sure someone on the surveillance team wouldn't talk? Especially given they're often former police. I mean if Gideon or Stanton is paying for round the clock watch on Nathan and/or possibly Eva, wouldn't that be the best evidence of all of some kind of strong connection ? And if he removed the security before the night of the vodka party, that would be another pointer, though I guess someone could argue there was a back entrance Gideon could use.

Seems to me, whoever organized the security would be at risk of either blackmail or police charges. And if it was only Angus or Clancy doing the covering, they couldn't have managed many hours. Raul? Another person that has to keep quiet.

  4. Haven't a clue either, but don't worry, whatever it's for, it's not for forgetting to asterisk certain words. If you forget to asterisk something that the naughty-word filter has flagged, the site will replace the word with a string of ##### characters.

I still can't figure out what the deal is with the four-letter word that is the opposite of heaven. The "h, e, double toothpick" word. For some strange reason, it's on the verbotten list. Strange. Also, the site seems to be flagged mostly, if not all, for the American version of the English dialect. The word a** won't fly, but the British dialect version, arse, does.

Ok. I'll just think about Gideon's arse along - with his other naughty bits (as the English sometimes say). :)

  5. Great insight!!

Chapter 17 in BTY illustrates what you posted...

I feel Gideon is a Dominant and Eva is a Submissive..

In chapter 17, Eva doesn't seem to be totally satisfied when she tops/dominates Gideon.... I feel that is why she woke up ###### in the middle of the night, she had the need to be submissive sexually/the need to be dominated sexually...

Here's a great example of nature imitating art. In the New York Times mag today there is an article reporting on the research for a female libido stimulator drug. Read one subject's reaction - it sounds just like Eva that night she gets the promise ring.

"We had s*x five times a week when before it was once a week,†Zita told me shortly after she’d finished her supply of Lybrido. And she wasn’t enthusiastic about that weekly intimacy. With the drug, she said, “I wanted to have s*x even after we had s*x. I would feel ho*ny, and I got like a throbbing sensation, like I had to do something or it was going to bother me all night. I would just want more.†When I asked how her husband felt about her taking the medication, she laughed."Happy,†she said."

Lucky Eva doesn't need any drugs. She has a much nicer pill (pun intended) right next to her.

  6. He is so hot and definitely my picture of Gideon!!!!

Cavill quoted in an interview with the director of Man of Steel in the New York Times. "Having finally made “Man of Steel†almost a decade later, Mr. Cavill said he had learned to appreciate a hero who has spent his whole life hearing that he is special, while being told just as often that he must conceal the things that make him unique.

“Perfection without effort is, in itself, not perfection,†he said. “It’s just gifted. Just being right because you exist isn’t interesting. Doing the right thing, through hard work and the right decisions, is a better character.â€

Cavill sounds like the right person to understand and address Mr. C's issues. Not too bad looking either. :)

  7. Before FSOG I had never read any erotica except some of the classic stuff like O and Nin, etc. in college. Also tried Sleeping Beauty but couldn't stand it. I liked Fifty enough that I wanted something else like it and someone suggested BTY and RIY. After I read (and re re re read ) those, I couldn't get into FSOG again. Wish I could - to help me get through the wait!

  8. Re future sightings of Arnoldo - remember Eva wanted to have a chance to explain her behavior with Brett to him. Arnoldo had told her basically that she didn't deserve his friend and that she shouldn't f**k with his head. I'm sure she'll want to clear that up and have some more zabaglione with raspberries.

Now that I think of it, g and e could have a very nice time with that particular dessert! :)

  9. I'm not at all worried about them having HEA, though I think it's too soon for an engagement. What worries me is whether I can take waiting for two more books to get finished. You know to keep the tension going, there are going to have to be some pretty heavy conflicts and scary situations. The idea of going through all this agonizing worry is a lot to take stretched out over at least a year, I should think. Mrs. Day better make it worth our while and, as Cary said, provide at least as many fun times, ie rapturous s*x, delicious food, gorgeous vacations, and lots more about Brett, Shawna, and Arnoldo.

May I suggest Shawna's boyfriend falling in love with an Italian cook and staying in Italy, leaving Shawna to be consoled by yummy Arnoldo?

  10. These are little questions, but the best ones are already taken!

Wonder when and why Gideon's mother was ever in his apartment - given he won't even go to her house for dinner.

Had Stanton already paid Nathan off before he was killed?

When is Gideon's birthday and will Eva get him a sex swing? :)

This comes a little late in the day, but re favorite quotes in chapter 6, this one made me laugh because it's a relief to have a little humor mixed with all the passion and angst. Mrs. Day has a deft touch that way. The passage I enjoyed was when Eva and Gideon have just finished a passionate encounter and Eva tells him that her father is coming for a visit.

"He stilled. Lifting his head, he looked at me wryly. "You have to tell me that while my 's still hanging out?"

I laughed. "Caught you with your pants down? (Gideon) "."

    Made me grin, anyway.

  11. I keep dreading seeing how Victor is going to react when he finds out about the abuse Eva suffered and how Monica kept it from him all those years. He had every right as her father to know about it and do his best to help Eva feel safe afterwards. It also would have helped him understand Eva's behavior later on. I'm sure he would have found some way to follow Nathan 's trail, too, and perhaps prevented the stalking. I can only imagine how furious he will be. And he will also find out that everyone else knew - Stanton, Cary, and Gideon and still he was kept in the dark.

  12. "Eva found out the way Gideon had gotten the money to start building Cross Industries was through gambling. He'd cheated at blackjack by counting cards -- and over the gaming tables, young Gideon had begun making important business contacts."

Card counting is not considered cheating and is not illegal. Some places ban card counters when they ID them, but some places have regulations prevent this. There's an interesting wiki article about how teams of math whizzes from MIT would go out to Vegas and have big scores.

I mention this because I don't want to see Gideon actions in any way associated with his father's fraud and dishonesty.

  13. Pot stirrer is definitely the right word for Cary. I've always been bothered by the creepy way he sureptitiously filmed Magdalene and Chris Vidal. If he'd heard them discussing Eva , I suppose he might have eavesdropped in case there was something he thought she needed to be warned about, but filming them having sex I thought was yucky. I know he did capture a gloating sort of look on Vidal's face, but he couldn't have known that would show up.

That said, I still kind of like him and believe he always has Eva's best interests at heart. I don't think Trey's the right choice for either Cary or Trey. They'll always make each other miserable. Trey wants to change him and Cary compares himself to Trey and feels worthless. At least Tatiana accepts him and makes an effort to cheer him up in a perfectly intuitive way with her nurse game. I think she may turn out to have a little more depth to her later on.

  14. Hello Ladies,

New member, but I've been working my way through this and the Entwined chat - what fun! You all really have some fascinating, funny, twisted, perceptive, arousing, and clever ideas! And it has definitely kept me going while I'm waiting...

Very glad I didn't discover these books until a few months ago - don't think I could have stood the long waits for books two and three.

I've been reading through all the chat so quickly, I can't quite remember if there is a consensus about the best audible recording. I listened to a little of one on YouTube a while back and didn't like it at all. Could someone let me know what to go for?

Am a paid up member of the I Hate Corinne Club and will gladly join the Deanna one as well.

One other thought I was reminded of yesterday when I saw that picture of the red dress again. It worried me when I read about Gideon ripping off Eva's undies on that first limo ride. She was wearing a dress cut extremely low in the back and slashed to the upper thigh from the bottom. Wouldn't she have been a nervous wreck with nothing underneath??? Maybe I'm a little to literal. :)
