  1. Your son is smart ! LOL.I will give Kathy Reichs and Janet Evanovich a try sometime ,you're not the first person to say they're good.
  2. The perception is that romance books are very light reads ,sometimes lacking in substance ,with a certain and easily gotten to HEA but often that's not the case .Look at the type of things we are exploring with the Crossfire series and the stuff we learn not only from the book but through the research you do on your own triggered by the book and wanting to understand the characters. In a lot of ways the Crossfire is a very dark read and I've certainly learned a lot about childhood sexual abuse ,the laws in the USA ,gynecology ,mental health etc right here on this forum. The mushy stuff is why we love it of course but we do go through a lot for it .
  3. Hi SharonM and GLH Though i haven't picked up these books in a while I too love James Pattersons Alex Cross and the Private series he has an easy style. My hubby introduced me to the books and he reads them religiously as they come out .My favorite character is Nana Mama I love her and think she has such wisdom and grace .I used to read the Kay Scarpetta books when I was much younger and loved them .I agree about about books that pull you into the story ,you're always better for it .Jeffrey Archer is someone else I read without fail ,his writing for me is very unique.
  4. Hi GiGi Thank you so very much for taking the time to compile this list ,it's very thoughtful and altogether wonderful .I don't know how to highlight but I made additions where I thought appropriate ,I hope it turns out ok .The JD Robb series is 40+ novels and novellas and that by itself would take up a whole page so I just listed the first three .
  5. Hi Everyone I've mentioned this before but the love me with lies trilogy from Tarryn Fisher which is now complete is really fantastic ,the first one is The Opportunist the second Dirty Red and the third and last one which has just been released is Thief .Its like nothing I've read before it blew my mind to say the least. It cant be overstated that its a beautiful love story and very different from a lot of the romance books written In erotic romance Nina Lane has a trilogy which is very hot and very good the first book is Arouse the second Allure and the third is Awaken which is not yet released but will be August /September. Jojo Moyes Me Before You is a poignantly beautiful love story.
  6. Hello Sometime ago someone tweeted SD to ask how tall Eva was and she responded" 5'5 or thereabouts ".
  7. Hello Moonfeather Welcome to the forum and I hope you have loads of fun .We are of the same mind on all your points .
  8. Hello Angelmine I'd like to say I'm very sorry for what happened to you and I admire your courage in being able to talk about it.I think on this point I'll take your word for it .I don't know enough about the subject but because of reading the Crossfire I've grown to understand some of the pathology and statistics through researching the subject but unless you've lived an experience you don't know enough.Anything I say is speculation based on what one gets from the novels and not based on fact. Thank you for your response.
  9. Thank you GiGi ,receiving those blessings and sending them back to you x2.
  10. I agree GiGi .She should have given him a hard kick in the privates ,chalked it up to a bad experience and moved on ,I would respect her more.Yes she was hurt by his dismissal and rightfully so but when you go in for a one night stand with a virtual stranger that's the risk you take ,you can hope the person you're going with will be decent and nice toward you but unfortunately it's not guaranteed and she should have known the risk of hurt even rudeness is inherent it that type of interaction even though its altogether wrong .And now for her to go around stalking him and people in his life makes me unsympathetic toward her for something for which she deserves sympathy because honestly he was a pig .The ripple effect of her actions is not hurting just Gideon but other people who were not in that room with them and she doesn't seem to care about that. And the other question would she behave the same if Gideon was some normal guy or is it because of his material worth and good looks that she can't let it go ?
  11. Here is a list of books you might enjoy after Crossfire 1.The bronze horseman trilogy -Paulina Simmons 2.The moment -Douglas Kennedy 3.The pursuit of happiness -Douglas Kennedy 4.The Opportunist -Tarryn Fisher 5 .Dirty red -Tarryn Fisher 6.Thief -Tarryn Fisher ( not yet released) 7 .Destiny -Sally Beauman 8.J D Robb -In death series (started these when Sylvia said she likes them and they do give the hot billionaire fix)
  12. Hi Sarah I also love that its from Eva's POV but there were times in Reflected especially I wished I could get a peek into Gideon's head.Someone tweeted Sylvia and asked if CBY will have Gideon's POV and Sylvia said partially.
  13. *Blows you a kiss *.Hope your day is lovely too.
  14. Hi Nathalia Deanna : I think she should have known herself better ,I don't think you just pick up a guy for a one night stand and then catch feelings when he doesn't treat you the way you expect .You don't know the first thing about this guy so you can't expect anything and I don't think she should have put herself out there in this way if she knows she's sensitive.Without a doubt Gideon was horrible to her and no one should be treated in such a manner but they were both adults no promises were made and she should really move on .Why waste the time with the personal vandetta Monica:It also puzzles me that Monica didn't know what was going on for four years .Its almost as if she wasn't intimately involved with Eva on an emotional /physical manner .The best I can think of is that she was young ,without support and found herself with a child and in her desperate scramble to build and maintain a life for herself and her child she didn't pay attention as a normal parent might have .I think she got it too late and because of that she overcompensates .
  15. I don't remember how I discovered the books but I know there was a lot of buzz around them ,I remember the local bookstore had a whole shelf dedicated to them. I would have loved to see your face the first time you read !
  16. And you SME ,what drew you into the Crossfire series?
  17. Hi SME After reading 50 shades of Grey I was looking for a book along the same lines and on the Daily Beast they had a list of books just like Fifty shades and Bared was on it .Hooked from the first chapter absolutely loved it.I remember being shocked the first time Gideon said the C word but also turned on by it I'd never read about anyone who talked about s e x so explicitly .Trust Gideon to push boundaries. to you too.
  18. Hey GiGi GASP ! Have a lovely time whatever it is you're doing.
  19. I must say though I had the biggest crush on Pattison when he was in the twilight movies and a few of my girls were also crushing on him and we were early 30s so I think he can come across as manly and he did on twilight ,he had the right amount of intensity for that role .
  20. Hi GiGi and SME Thank you both for sharing your story .I think it's incredibly mature to be able to see your parent/s as flawed just like the rest of us and to seek to understand and accept them . GiGi what happened to your mom when she was young is heartbreaking ,no child should ever have such an experience and I can understand how someone wouldn't be able to walk away from that experience and be whole . Monica : In Bared I found her amusing because all her reactions were over the top and she was great for comic relief in such an intense story .In Reflected I grew to see just how much she loves her daughter and that even if her actions or misactions were not ones you could agree with everything she had done was to keep Eva safe ,secure and well loved .I believe that even marrying rich guys had less to do with herself and more to do with creating the kind of life she thought was best for her daughter .One scene that struck me was when Eva found out about Nathan having pics and vid of her and Eva was crying and Monica said" shhhh baby I'll take care of you"(or something like that )for me that sentence encapsutes how Monica feels about her daughter.
  21. Hi SME and welcome to the forum I am the mother to four lovely children and they all call me mam2me . Thank you so much on the advice on the books .I have been thinking of starting them especially since we have a bit of a wait until CBY I find that it's a bit difficult to make a break from the Crossfire series and start something new because its so consuming and you end up reading them over and over but starting a new series will make the time go faster . Like you I love long books if only you didn't have to hold it in your hand for hours . I've enjoyed your posts you go into great detail which is wonderful . Thank you.
  22. I've heard a lot of good things about this series ,i've been thinking of starting just the size of each book is intimidating.
  23. Thank you GiGi.Have a wonderful night too.
  24. Laughing out loud at this ^GiGi.
