  1. Finally got the time to dive back into the Gideon universe ;) I hope you all have had a wonderful holiday.

    Chapter 11.

I'm so happy that Ireland is in his life, Gideon needs some healthy female relations, and Ireland has got such a positive influence on him. He is still a bit clumsy in his interactions with her, but I find it very charming. He really wants to be a good and protective big brother.

Gideons fear of losing his family again, is a tough read. He knows what he has got with Eva, and he is clinging on to it.

If Eva had meant so much to Kline as he claims, and the time they have had, he would never have considered publishing any part of that tape. I believe that he would, like G, have protected every private minute. As a celebrity private pictures and moments must be even more valuable, you keep them from the public, not handing it to them?!?! Brett Kline should have stopped Sam Yimara himself.

I agree with jmhope, Kline doesn't think highly of Eva, who he supposedly loves, when he thinks that she is blinded by Gideons money, further I think that Kline is the one feeling threatened by the "billions".

It makes me sick that Chris Jr had a copy of that tape. He's so vindictive, and I'm afraid that he has no boundaries for getting back at Gideon, and I'm looking forward getting to know why in OWY. (Only wish that G is innocent in whatever accusation Chris Jr might have).

The tensity between Elizabeth and Gideon is palpable when Gideon had driven Ireland home.

Eva easily gets mad at Gideon, though not the worst reaction in the car. It is wonderful that she is fighting every battle for him and wants to share his pain, but he is doing the same thing for her, and when he does she often get grumpy and reacts a bit immature... Still she has a point when she said that whatever Elizabeth says, it does effect Gideon, even if he doesn't want it to.

  2. Chapter 10:

This is a small chapter, but still my favorite in the entire book! Mainly because of the karaoke scene, with Gideon singing "hanging by a moment" (love that song). That man has to realize that he is one of the most romantic man ever!

I think it's great that Eva dares to sing, even though she knew how she would sound. I liked Eva admitting her own stubbornness by working with G, since that is what I think it is...

I don't get tired of Gideon saying "I love you"

She knew G was up to something when he left that Saturday (to meet Brett), and she was right.

The one thing I didn't like is Carys whining behaviour. He should show more gratitude & humbleness towards Gideon, and stop being such a brat... I know he has a history, but that is no excuse for behaving without manners.

    Two questions....

How soundproof can a limo really be? ;) (what Angus must hear lol)

And what did E need her phone for (curious)?

It is very busy days with Christmas only two days away, and a lot of preparations to do. So I haven't been able to read much.

I want to thank you all for including me here, and I wish you all a very merry Christmas! May you all have a jolly holiday

  3. if Mark G. leaves why does Eva lose her job?...

I'm with you both on that!

I think they won't let her go for several reasons,

*they know she has done an excellent job, and they will need a replacement for Mark (and he has been bragging about her)

*she is engaged, and soon offficially married, to one of the most powerful men in the world, and therefore a very positive association. They are depended of any positive relation.

*letting go of Eva they are taking a risk of not getting further business deals with Cross Industries, and I think they are not willing to take that risk. Since Cross Industries has such a huge network, they might be afraid of the ripple effects if C. Industries are cutting them off.

This is a great opportunity for Mark, so I think that he should work for Cross. I know G wanted Eva to go along with Mark, but G also want the best of the best employees.

  4. Chapter 9

I love Angus, the sweetest man that he is. I would really like to read his POV of Gideon growing up. He has a great relationship with Gideon, and it seems like G trust Angus and values his opinion.

Gideons description of his love for Eva is beautiful â¤ï¸And the part when he crawls into her arms after the nightmare, and letting her taking care of him... I just thought "YES- finally" Loved that he sold the fu** pad hotel.

His nightmares are devastating, my stomach tightened.

I did not like that Eva said that she wouldn't push him this early in the relationship, but did it anyway. We also know that she pushes him at the end of the book. I know she means well, but it could also backfire by wrecking their relationship or that he won't talk about it at all. It is important that G does this in his own pace, she of all people should know that, and repect that (reminding myself that it is still fictional lol).

I think a part of him loves the fact that Eva is literally facing all of his demons, makes him proud and perhaps a bit touched. At the same time it scares him, she does something that he has not been able to do for himself, and he looses his control when she is doing the talking. He doesn't have control of the consequenses either. A part of him gets pis*ed off when she stands up for him, he is used to handle things on his own, fighting his own battles, and his control issues plays a big part in this too... What do you think?

  5. chapter 9Gideon was furious!! but I don't understand why he wanted to tie Eva down, he did mention about Eva being a tigress and wanted to pin her down, make her submit. I guess he wanted to take his frustrations about his abuse on her. Loved Angus's reply about being gentle with her and that couples therapy means the both of you. G said "she can't change the past" It's not the past she's thinking of" "it is the future" I wonder what G meant that Eva was a loose cannon.

In my opinion, I think that it is his way of physically control her. He has ha huge need of control in every way he can. He also explained why he wanted to do it (in another chapter), can't quite remember exactly what he said, but something of feeling her energy beneath him. Why he gets so turned on, he doesn't even understand. It could be the pattern that he learned from Hugh, how he resolves his anger, but he might get turned on by Eva fighting for him. Maybe Dr. P can explain it in OWY?!? By being a "loose canon" I interpret (not sure if that is the correct word) that she is a blabbermouth, and again he can not control what she is doing og saying to anyone... But of course, I can be all wrong :)

  6. 'm assuming that now Gideon has opened up and admitted to someone other than Eva what happened to him, does this magically heal him or would there be more to his journey to being as normal as an abuse victim can be? Eva has gone through considerable therapy to reach the point she is at but Gideon is only just starting so is it feasible that him opening up to Dr P is THE cure-all for him?

All victims are of course individuals, and likewise their healing process. I have met many survivors of abuse through my job in mental health care. Some people can not make it through therapy, it is too tough opening up, for many of them they will start reliving all their traumas ( for some on a daily basis). It is very common that they struggle with other issues as a consequence of what they experienced, and for keeping the secret all to themselves, f.ex anxiety, depression and even more serious metal disorders. Abuse is unfortunately a reason why many people becomes addicted to drugs and alcohol.

It will be different for a victim that was raped once, and for victims that has been abused for years, although they are both very traumatised. There are many factors that will influence the recovery process.

I believe that he has potential of recovery, but it will cost him determination, strenght, endurance. I don't believe that he will ve "fixed" within a few weeks or months, more likely a year or two, or even more. He'll have to open up to everything, tell everything, don't hold anything back (like Eva said). Every incident that he can remember, or the emotion that he feels, needs to be processed. He needs to understand who he is, and why he reacts like he does. It is complicated. He will need a lot of support, patience, time, love and security from the people that are close to him. The chaotic and negative emotions within him, needs to be normalized.

The abuse will of course be the hardest part, but I guess he has some sort of grieving concerning his mothers rejection, but also it may be hard on him knowing that Chris Sr never knew after all... Realistically he can be healed, but I think that it will take longer than the series will last. There is a chance that the nightmares will follow him until the end of his life, but less frequently. He will carry his memories with him every day, but hopefully the pain will ease with time, and he will get some peace of mind.

There is so much to say about this, and it will naturally be speculating since we are all different people, with different needs and different experiences (and the book is fiction, but still realistic).

I don't know if this was what you were looking for D500, but I hope it made some sense.

  7. I agree with you jmhope, Eva does forgive Cary more easily. Perhaps she feels more sorry for him, with his situation and background in mind? She certainly knows him better than she knows G, and are more secure of what Cary can handle and not handle. She knows his vulnerability well. Maybe her expectations to Gideon is higher than they should be in som areas, f.ex his lack of experience in relationships.

This chapter has a few uncertain elements, like Tat's pregnancy, is she playing Cary or is she in fact pregnant? I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the first option. Second, Det.Graves, what is her main purpose by approaching Eva at the gym? I hope G is right, that there is nothing to be afraid of. But then again, his goal is to keep Eva calm, and he rarely shows his concerns. It would have been nice to read his POV about Det.Graves.

I think it was a good thing that Eva chose to let go of Clancys services. She is married, and Raul is working for her. In the txt message she should have written that "Gideon AND I" - not just "Gideon wants to have his ppl with me moving forward..."

The highlight; Eva telling Chris Sr about the abuse. I love that she stands up for G, he needs someone to fight for him. I guess it had to make some sense for Chris Sr and added some pieces to his puzzle. Maybe he now understands why G rarely visit home, and why there's such a cold relationships between Elizabeth& Eva and Elizabeth& Gideon.

  8. Magdalene must have told Chris Jr about what they were doing in the Library in BTY

Chris Jr walked in on them himself... And I guess he stood there for a while before he spoke.....

Many likes and dislikes in this chapter.

Gideons reaction to what happened to Megumi was disappointing, but somehow understanding. I don't think it was unjustified that he said that Eva had to be carefull, that this weren't here battle to fight (that said, you always support your friends!) He knows, as pointed out, that she is fearless in confrontations with people, that especially G finds threatening and possible dangerous (his mother, Dr L and so on). Gideon is a victim yes, and learning his new way of life of how to take responsibility of not being a victim anymore. I believe that his respons was some kind of a defense mechanism.

Corinne is a pain in the *** someone needs to shake her into reality. If Gideon can't reach into her with all of his " Eva and I were inevitable" talk, I don't know who can. I think that their relationship never would have lasted anyway, even if she had never broken of the engagement (and even if there never were a Gideva). Corinne simply reminds him too much of his own mother. I'm relieved that he finally sees her for who she really is, and not who he wanted her to be.

Don't even want to get started on Chris Jr bursting into his office, I wish G would have hitten his jaw harder...

    The good parts;

Gideons description of his first meeting with Eva in the appartment, his need of being totally accepted, his need of physically holding on to the love that could save him â¤ï¸His start to acception of his past, and statement of not to play along anymore.

Dr Petersen is always a BIG plus! There are so many huge changes in Gideons life in such a short amount of time, in parallel he is opening up to his heavy traumas. Trauma therapy alone is so challenging, I have trouble to understand how he is coping. Because of his experience with trauma therapy (his fathers suicide) and therapists, it is very understandable why he is on the defense line. I'm happy to know that he is more at ease later in the book. No wonder he believes that every therapist has an ulterior motive.

  9. Chapter 6;

The chapter starts so beautifully with Eva surrounded by her favorite men. A flawlessly moment they all deserved to have. I liked that G is humble with Victor and acts so respectful.

I love the comment " whoever said Mondays s*cked had obviously never woken up yo a naked Gideon Cross", classic!

Poor Megumi :( I really feel for her. She must have been through he*l and back the last week. Not even been able to reach out for Evas hand. I'm happy she's back and I hope she'll get better soon, and hopefully she's not too traumatised.

I get frustrated when Gideva argue over inconsiderable details, like that "to disturb or not disturb" phonecall, they've got bigger issues to worry about.

I know someone mentioned this before, but can not remember what the feedback was...

Why didn't Cross Industries appear when Eva did that research on PhazeOne/LanCorp?

If they've been rivals throughout the years, don't you think that there would be any links to be found? I know she propably didn't use the gossip magazines in her research, but still??

Anyone who would like to make a comment on that?

  10. How's this for a revenge fantasy: Christopher tells Elizabeth a sex tape exists of Eva. Elizabeth turns nasty and somehow it gets back to Magdalene (her mother is Elizabeth's best friend and Magdalene does go to Vidal family get-togethers.) Magdalene tells off Christopher and tells his mother what a jerk he is.

The question is; will Elizabeth in that case believe what Magdalene tells her.... There is a chance that se won't believe anything negativity that concerns her familiy. She will believe that there is a tape with Eva (and perhaps use that for her own benefit), but I think that Chris Jr is her pride and glory.

  11. The only problem is that I think Christopher has watched the tape and it would be difficult for Gideon to know that Christopher has seen Eva in action without himself knowing what it was about.

Yes, if anything is going to urge him to see the s*xtape, I think it is the thought of Chris Jr watching it. I believe Chris Jr has seen it many times, and he's such an idiot that he probably going to rub it in G's face.... I hope that Gideons cherish his promise to Eva

  12. She's also more or less over Brett (I think finally over him occurs when she hears Gideon sing during the karaoke session and learns that Brett's singing voice had been a major turn on for her but now she knows Gideon can sing in a voice that turns her on, plus the man himself is her greatest turn on Brett is not as much of interest - then the final scene with him where she learns he has allowed others to see the sex tape). So I suspect that makes her less annoyed at Gideon following her - and of course Arash confirms that they had genuine business being where they are.

    Good point

There was something very subtle at the very end of Chapter 5 that makes me think Gideon never told Arash about Nathan's killing, that he used other lawyers to deal with the police. When Arash joked "What have you got to hide" and Gideon joked back "Your corpse." I can't see Gideon joking with his friend about that if poor Arash knew he had to worry about homicide detectives. It makes sense, too, that Gideon would quietly hire criminal defense lawyers. Arash's specialty is in civil law: contracts, finance and such.

Never thought about that, but that is quite possible.
  13. Chapter 5:

What's not to love about that chapter?? :)

Loved how Gideon nailed Yimara. Arash comment to Gideon" always a pleasure watching you scare the h**l out of someone" is priceless. I have no trouble imagining that lol.

Arash and Gideons friendship really comes to show in this chapter, and I love it. It seems to me that they are able to distinguishing between being good friends when they are "off duty" and professional in a work context. They have a friendly humerous ambience, and for each time I read the book, I 'm liking Arash even more.

When he thinks of Eva and his love for her "the one woman who could silence the memories in my head and set me free", my knees weakens â¤ï¸

I wish Gideon will stop torturing himself with images of Brett and Eva, and I'm glad he reminded himself of the promise he made by not watching the s*xtape.

I would LOVE to have a glimpse of him working out in that hotelroom, nice and sweaty doing all of his push-ups.....

  14. I also liked the part with Dr.Travis, and I hope that her confused feelings concerning Brett is over. I wish he would move to NY too, lol, both Eva and Cary could use more therapy, and he obviously knows them very well.

My dislike is Carys response to the marriage, and I wish he would be a bit more supportive. I know he doesn't know the whole story, but still... How about a supporting your best friend, he dissapointed me with his reaction.

  15. Favorite part is getting underneath Gideons skin. I love to read about his emotions for Eva, I love that he is finally able to really love someone, and that he is capable to let Eva love him. I'm so happy for him, and he deserves to enjoy all the good things life provides for him.

His mother p****s me off, I just want to slap her (and I'm not a violent kind of person!)! There is nothing she can do, or say, that will ever fix the harm she's caused, she can love G all that she wants, but like he said It's never enough....

Never thought of the possibility that Arnoldo was refering to Corinne... But that absolutely makes sense.

Do you think Arash knows something about Gideons past?? Not all of it of course, but perhaps something about his tense relationship to his family?? Does anyone like to make a comment on that?

  16. In Chapter 2:Eva asking Gideon if the Crossfire had personal info on all employess. Ironically Gideon said he couldn't/shouldn't give that info out to her; since that is probably how he found some of the info about her. Like where she lived and with whom. But said that Raul could locate Megumi for her.

Too bad we are not having a Gideva babybump watch, but it would be ineresting to find out what kind of birth control she uses.....it has done a dandy job so far!!! a period every month!

We don't know were G got the information about E, it could as easily been Raul who's been doing his investigations.

Loved your comment on the birth control :D

I liked the part when Gideon wants Eva to take Raul or Angus with her to look for Megumi. He is so protective of her, and he always puts safety first, but I guess that a man in his position got be.

I think it's sad when Eva thought that G never will see her as an equal in their marriage, and that it's based on G finances. I think that it's more correct that Eva don't feel that they are financially equal, rather than blamingGideon for it. I can't think of a single time he has used that against her (and she thought the same for herself too), instead I remember that I was impressend by the "contract" he presented to her when they got married.... She gets ALOT!!

  17. Copying my post from the other CBY thread:

    Lighthouse, on 05 Dec 2014 - 3:14 PM, said:

So, in Chapter 1, anyone interested in talking about Elizabeth showing up unannounced first thing in the workday at Gideon's office instead of having the gumption to approach him the night before, as soon as she saw that ring on Eva's hand and/or right after the argument the two women had? Did Elizabeth wait because she was afraid of causing a scene? Was afraid of Eva? Of Gideon?

    --------

I think that she approached him at the office for various of reasons. For once I think yes, she's afraid of making a scene, and further I believe that a part of her want to be able to reach into Gideon, and perhaps she thinks she's got a bigger shot at that in his office, when they're alone. Also I don't think she want G to see the side of her that she've shown Eva...

I get so angry everytime she appears in the books

My knees weakens everytime G says "Crossfire" ... A small word with such a tremendous meaning, so that's got to be one of the parts I liked the most. My least favorite part got to be the when Eva confesses that she's got confused feelings for Brett..

    I have one question by the way;

Page 3, when G is sifting through his e-mails, working his way towards, and I quote, "the subject line that had caught my eye the moment my e-mail opened"

Did we found out what that mail was all about? I got so curious...
