Don't you also think that Gideon may think in the back of his mind that maybe Eva would stick with him due to a sense of obligation and gratitude as opposed to romantic feelings.. I'm sure he must fear that what he has done will alter their relationship at some point in the future maybe not at this point...What do you all honk?

I have thought of that but I just don't think it's the case I think he just didn't have empathy for Eva just as he said at the beach house he thought she was over reacting...

And Gideon has said to her in the past"you're the greatest risk I've ever taken but the greatest reward..."

I preordered the audiobooks for EWY. Can't wait to try it out since I have never listened before. It will make my commute to work a lot more exciting LOL :)

This does not surprise me because the more I reread this part of the book the more I get pi$$ed at Gideon and wonder why we are feeling sorry for him at all at this point....that was such a horrible evening for Eva and this evening was so close to the time after she comforted him after he attacked her...he knows she is his safe place why oh why did he treat her this way ; especially at the dinner table that is the part that angers me the most . The way he cut her off that nite is as bad as when he cut her off at the Advocacy dinner but much more humiliating since it was witnessed by Corinne herself, Magdalene, and none other than Dr. Lucas. And then not more than 2 weeks later he's pulling the same stunt with Corinne again dropping Eva after the beautiful weekend they spent together in NC and humiliating her once again by her becoming tabloid fodder... As I say again, if Eva weren't so broken would she really want a man like that ? I dont even think the brunettes would want him after a few stunts like that. Gideon has a long way to go in our(the readers') eyes also... It is to the point I skip over this part in the book when I reread because it just doesn't make me feel good...

Yes if Eva doesn't have an ulcer by now I don't know who would LOL

Who knows how Brett will reappear? Maybe in Chapter 4 he shows up at Eva's work again or maybe this is when the tabloids are running with the story of his "Golden Girl" but maybe he finally serenades Eva in the later chapter...

I can see Gideon and Eva lying on this hammock laughing and napping and holding each other close...oh June 4th can't get here soon enuf!!!

Couldn't agree more I have already expressed my thoughts more than once about Monica. As someone mentioned earlier; Victor would be an appropriate confidante for Eva . But even though Gideon had compelling reasons for doing so, at the end of the day would you want your daughter- your precious baby girl, who has already been exposed to more than her share of violence, to marry a murderer? What does everyone think?

Yes I agree I am expecting an amazing book because chapters 1 and 2 have the reader hooked...

I think this is a very real possibility we have posted this in the past on this forum...

That's for sure; Eva sure had a rein on those demons inside her because I could just see her storming down that sidewalk just like Gideon did when he saw Eva kissing Brett!!!

I envision him not sleeping in his bed much at all those nights ; I see him in his home office staring at the collage working and crying intermittently not wanting to sleep in his bed so he wouldn't experience another nightmare even though he 's actually living one ...
