It's in this chapter that we start to hear about Gideons information gathering. This crops up time and time again in both books. Freaking out at first, when Eva realises that Gideon owns her apartment block, her cell, her credit card, she feels smothered, violating her privacy. But as the books progress and she is learning to trust him, she starts to regard the info gathering as him being attentive and caring. At this point, how much does he know about Eva?

Loving this part too. Poor Gideon. Bet he was wondering what he had to do, to get this feisty little minx into bed. Probably rubbing his chin thinking, this is not what normally happens, I must be losing my touch!

Oh our hero is getting very frustrated in this chapter. Willing to compromise and bend to have Eva, probably never having to negotiate with a woman, just to have sex. "I'm guessing the "I want to f**k you"approach has a high success rate for you", is probably Gideons chat up line, which no one has turned down. Can't accuse him of beating about the bush.

Oh there are so many favourite quotes, where does one start. 1. His smile was like lightning in the darkness, blinding and beautiful and mysterious, and I wanted him so badly it was physically painful. 2.you look beautiful and f**kable. I want you so badly it hurts. I'm dangerously close to taking you back to the couch, and making you come 'til you beg me to stop. Can't accuse you of being silver tongued. I think that as long as Gideon starts opening up to Eva, this will give her hope that they have a future together. It is his secrets and non disclosure of facts that are causing the problems. Hey! You just admitted to Gideon eliminating Eva's greatest physical threat? Have you come over to the dark side lady??? Choking on my coffee here!

Eva, started kissing Brett back, to get back at Gideon. She wanted him to feel how she feels when Corrine rears her pretty little head. She wanted him to feel the pain of her jealousy, which was exactly what happened when Gideon saw them kissing. He basically went into free fall . Must be terrible for the poor girl, feeling like this anyway, then having to watch Corrine flaunt herself at Gideon to try and win him back. What a witch!

Just thought, perhaps as a child, Gideon felt unworthy of love. His dad was taken away from him, his mother remarried got pregnant quickly, he probably felt abandoned by her too. Who else was going to love him? Poor child.

well there was that weird comment from Gideon at the garden party, that I posted early. Gideon said to his mum when she met Cary " I thought you would like him". It just sounded sinister

As much as Cary loves Eva , he does love to yank her chain. She tries to help him, but gets it thrown back at her.

I was going to bed, but I'm having to much fun. Eva Monica etc seemed to think that Gideon had a brunette fetish. Although he did admit, that if he did it was unconsciously. Eva suspected it had to do with Corrine. Magdalene wanted to look like Corrine, hoping to get his engine running, but it didn't work. I think it has to do with his mum. Corrine is described as a mummy lookalike. Beautiful slim with long black hair. I just think Gideon was looking for his mums love in these women who were brunettes. By discarding them after sex, he is in effect punishing his mum. I'm probably way off base here.

Cary and Brett knew each other I gather from when they all lived in San Diego. It seems like our Cary does like to do a bit of stirring occasionally. He can't seem to get a grip on his life, shaking up other people's aswell.

I don't think she s heartless. It depends on how she was raised. Her own family disowned her when she got pregnant. How callous was that. Bringing shame to the family. By all accounts Monica's family was comfortable, when Eva described them to Gideon the night she told him about her rape. Monica is motivated by money, lots of it.
