I must admit, unless the Graves boob comes out and it's thrown out, two weeks is no time for a murder inquiry to wrap up surely.

Unfortunately, Gideon is going to do a lot of hurting. There's Eva's trust and heart to repair, there's Corinne and her thinking she is walking down the aisle at long last, (don't buy the dress yet!), then there's Gideon himself, so fragile and broken while trying to maintain a strong "I'm in charge of my life" appearance.

That's what scared Gideon. When Eva had a do over, I reckon he remembered what she said about Magdalene and her hair do. About not copying Corinne anymore, and moving on, and that's what he sees Eva doing. Moving on without him. Starting a new life.

Homework today was a lot more palatable. I loved the conversation between Eva and Victor. "I've got a good life that makes me happy and a daughter that makes me so d a m n proud. I consider myself a rich man because there's nothing in this world I want that I don't already have." I stopped walking and hugged him. "I love you, Daddy. I'm so happy your here." Even Monica said something lovely to Cary. "Almost as beautiful on the outside as you are on the inside."

Thinking about this last night. I wonder if Gideon could have been whispering "Thank you for saving me." After all Eva has broken the brunette spell. She was helping him escape his past.

I have to agree with you. I think the clue is in the caption. How hard are you holding on, to SOMETHING that may break you. Not someone. I'm probably wrong again, but could this be about Elizabeth and her penchant for young men, that I think she has, and Gideon coming to terms with it? Off base again most likely. Could it be about Gideons father? His death? Grabbing at straws here. Could it be the secret Eva is keeping is keeping from her dad? Are there still many secrets in this book?

Didn't think if that. Just assumed they didn't change it. Good point. But Gideon says everywhere he went people knew who he was, because of his name and what his father did. So I think they kept his name to Cross.
