I have this little scene in my head from Brett & Eva's first meeting in Book 4 where Brett leans in to kiss her hello and she stops him by putting her left hand up to cover his mouth. He sees her ring and exclaims "You're engaged!" To which she replies, "Actually, I'm married."

I still don't see how Brett could use the sex tape to blackmail Eva?! Gideon already knows about it so threatening to tell him would be unsuccessful. As would threatening to release it as Gideon has a team working 24/7 to prevent it being released on any file-sharing sites.

Also, I just don't think Brett is that kinda guy. If we look at all of their interactions from his point of view, all he is guilty of is not believing Eva when she says that she is in love with Gideon.

The first time they ran into each other - Eva kissed him back - in front of Gideon.

A few days later - she took him to lunch when he showed up at her work unannounced. Yes she said she was in love with Gideon but she also told him how much she had wanted to go out with him 4 years ago. And when he asked how serious things were wih Gideon she was vague - "sometimes it seems that way." (Or something like that)

A few weeks later - Brett has seen the media storm surrounding Gideon & Corinne and now believes Eva to be single. When he calls and asks her out she says yes.

A few days before the Times Sq event - she agrees to dinner after the video launch, alone even though she's bringing Cary to the event. Brett probably takes this as a sign that she feels something for him and doesn't trust herself to be alone with him. A positive sign in his plan to get Eva back.

At the Times Sq event - (baring in mind that as far as anyone knows this is the first time Gideon & Eva have spoken in weeks) He sees that Gideon wants a second chance and tells Eva he deserves one too. She tells him she loves Gideon, but he's heard that before and look what happened last time - Gideon dumped her days later. Also Gideon disappears well before the end of the event. Brett may think he's already won (maybe the Golden video drove him away?) He assumes the reason Eva is quiet over dinner is that she is mad about the video. Which she is but she's also worried about Gideon. She agrees to see him again in a couple of weeks time in SD.

Brett, I think is actually a decent guy, who hasnt done anything except chase a beautiful ex who may or may not be involved with someone else. Eva is sending him mixed signals (initially to make Gideon jealous and then because she can't explain just how serious she and Gideon are because the whole world have to believe that they were broken up for 3+ weeks.)

I believe once he finds out about her engagement/marriage he will realise he is too late, she has made her choice and it isnt him and back off.

With the whole Brett / Eva situation... I think we need to remember that PUBLICALLY that night in Times Sq was supposed to be the first time Gideon and Eva had spoken since their break up 3weeks earlier. Eva did tell Brett that she was in love with Gideon, she also deflected all of his attempts to kiss her (as best she could) but she couldn't come out and make declarations about how serious Gideon and her were as they were only just talking again.

I do agree however, that there was no reason to bring Brett up to her apartment. Why couldn't she say good night in the car?

I think when she goes to SD she will meet up with Brett, but I think she will do so mainly to tell him about the video situation. I think if he makes a move this time she will make it quite clear that she is engaged/married and he better back off.

Someone said they thought Brett might use the video to blackmail Eva into sleeping with him. I don't see how that would work as Gideon knows about the video. Eva can't fear Gideon finding out about it - he was the one who told her about it!!

Can I ask what does MMA mean?

UK ebooks are released on the 4th also. Those who have pre ordered the paperback in the UK from an online seller wont receive them until the 8th. I was a member of a number of Harry Potter forums when those books were being released. When a new book was being released a new thread would be set up in the forum which would be the only place you were allowed to talk about that book for at least a couple of weeks. Then anybody who didnt want to be spoiled should just avoid that thread until they have finished the book. After a few week's it was assumed that everyone posting would have read the books and then different threads could be created regarding different topics without risk of spoiling people wih the titles!!

Hi everyone. I have a question for the legal eagles...

If the police / prosecution decide they don't have enough evidence to charge Gideon because of a lack of motive or the strength of his alibi... the case will remain open correct? And if so, what's to stop them pursuing it again if Eva & Gideon were to get back together shortly after they drop the case?

Surely that would just increase their case that Gideon did indeed have motive?

How long would Eva & Gideon have to wait before getting back together (publicly) without fear of this?

Would it depend on the public circumstances ie why Gideon & Corinne broke up? What I mean is if Gideon were the 1 to publicly dump Corinne would that make the police more suspicious & give them a reason to reopen their case against him?

Hi LN, Can I please ask where you got the spoiler information that Monica was the one to tell Gideon who it was that attacked Cary? I have been following Sylvia's recent interviews as closely as possible but think I might have missed one as I dont remember that question being answered & would like to see what else I missed!!

I was trying to think how she would catch them, given that she hasn't up till now been in his apartment. Wouldn't it be good if she turned up at Gideons , he opens the door, with Eva standing behind thoroughly f*cked, like Corinne tried to pull on Eva . Lol payback ######!

It would be even better if she turned up at Gideon's unannounced & it was Eva who IMMEDIATELY opened the door looking thoroughly f**ked with Gideon behind her. How I would love it to go down like that. Its about time Corinne got a taste of her own medicine!

I also wanted to share my favourite part of the first chapters of EWY as it surprises me that no-one else has mentioned it yet. When Eva and Gideon make love, Gideon completely submits to Eva and she then gives herself over to him. As we all know, Gideon has never TRULY given up control during sex, he's always 'topping from the bottom' (the few times Eva thinks she's in charge) but Gideon communicates best (with Eva anyway) through sex and I think this submission on his part speaks volumes as to just how far he has come, and how much he loves and trusts Eva. Her submission in return will also prove to him just how much she loves him regardless of what he has done.
