  1. I so agree with both points here. Â I love Alex Cross also and the Women's Murder Club series from Patterson. Â
  2. First time on this thread. Â Hi to all. Â I read very quickly so I have read a lot of the suggested books. Â I highly recommend Sylvia's Georgian series. Â There is a character named Simon who sort of reminds me of Gideon. Â Loved the Stark books by J Kenner and am waiting for the final one next week. Â Loved the Gabriel books, the This Man series, and On Dublin St. Â The second book was OK and I haven't read Ellie's story yet. Â For s e x, you cannot beat the BEAUTIFUL series. Â Whew. Â Â I am going to try some of the other suggestions. Â Thanks.
  3. When I look at these pix, I wonder how one man can be so dam hot. Â God.
  4. OMG, that picture is to die for. Â This is funny. Â My husband and I went to get coffee for our Keurig. Â A new flavor was being shown. Â BLUEBERRY COFFEE. Â I laughed out loud. Â Yuck.
  5. Thank you, Gigi. Â One of the most interesting parts of rereading the three books is how you can put yourself into each of the character's shoes knowing now the reasons for what happened. Â Especially Gideon's. Â Sylvia did an amazing job of getting us into his head and explaining why he did what he did for Eva. Â I remember when I read RIY and EWY the first time wondering how Gideon could be so cold based on how we saw his deep love for Eva. Â I think she also allowed us to see why Gideon was so successful in the business world. Â He thinks of everything ahead of time. Â Or so it seems. Â When is Book 4 coming already. Â Â On a different note, I forget---did Sylvia say that Crossfire was going to be a TV series? Â Somewhere in my head I remember that.
  6. I just read the part where Gideon explained Corinne to Eva. Â What is interesting is that Corinne never pushed Gideon on any issue. How can you marry someone you know so little about? Â I know this is a novel, but that is interesting to me. Â So everyone thinks that Gideon never sought any other therapist because of one bad one? Â After what I just read, I think he never expected to find a relationship and so the nightmares would just be his secret. Â He would use his fu**pad for s*x and that would be it. Â Denial for sure. Â I think Sylvia had that spot on for men. Â They really don't like to face issues. Â Head in the sand and all of that.
  7. Hi Gabri-- Â You are so right. Â I live on the east coast of the US where people are more liberal. Â But, one of my closest friends lives about 100 miles away in the central part of Pennsylvania. Â It is sickening how anti everything they are there. Â Much of our country still is struggling with many issues Europeans have long ago settled. Â And, yes, if women ran things, I think the world would certainly been more accepting. Â Â I am rereading the series. Â After reading here the past few months I decided to reread with new insight. Â Maggie and Corinne are just so despicable. Â I don't know women like them but I certainly know they exist. Â The scene that grabbed me was the first time Gideon had his major nightmare at Eva's. Â Knowing what I know now, my heart just broke for both of them. Â What I did wonder is why Gideon never went for therapy before. Â Could it be that until Eva he never spent a night with a woman before? Â I haven't gotten to the part where they discuss this and I forget. Â I just love these 2.
  8. Hi Gigi-- Â Yes, that is the actor's name. Â Don't know much about him but I was intrigued by his statement.
  9. Hi Gigi-- Â TPTB means the powers that be. Â The money holders, etc. Â Ultimately they hold all the cards. Â Loved that interview. Â Just too short. Â He just does it for me. Â Big time.
  10. Hi Gigi and thanks for your comments. Â What prompted me to say what I did is an interview I read a little while back with a British actor--I think his name is Rupert something--who was known as a leading man. Â He said that coming out was the worst thing he ever did for his career. Â He was sorry he came out professionally. I guess because my brother is gay I think a lot about these issues. Â He is a very successful businessman and he has to hide his sexuality even though he is married and with the same man for 23 years. Â It's all about money and what TPTB think will make the most. Â I also remember when Sean Hayes won a Tony for his role and the NY Times criticized because he played a straight man. Â That was maybe 2 or 3 years ago. Â I think Europeans are more advanced than we are here in the US.
  11. Hi ladies-- Â As for the gay-straight issue---I think it depends on the role. Â For characters like Gideon or Christian, the fact that they are ssssoooo sexual makes it different. Â Most straight roles don't have the sexual aspect the MAIN aspect of the story. Â Yes, both men have their own stories, but the sex is a major part. Â There are lots of roles a gay man could play very successfully, but not these roles. Â (FYI-my brother is a gay man married to the man of his dreams and I love them both.) Â It reminds me of a character my husband likes a lot called Jack Reacher. Â Tom Cruise played him in the movie. Â In the books, Reacher is 6'5", 250 lb., can take out 5 guys at once. Â Attractive and macho. Â TC did an OK job, but my husband kept saying---this is just not Jack. Â I think a gay man playing a highly sexual straight man would be a distraction that many would just say---this is not Christian/Gideon. Â I would have no problem with a gay man playing Ethan or Carrick or Flynn in FSOG. Â A gay man could play any of the roles in Crossfire EXCEPT Godeon. Â JMHO
  12. Hi ladies-- Â Just a brief comment. Â I think EL did an amazing job of creating 2 intriguing characters. Â CG is so complicated and fascinating. Â She spent a lot of time developing her characters and her descriptions of the Pacific NW were spot on. Â Lots of research. Â Because of that when I read those Britishisms, it was disruptive. Â I don't think she even realized she did it. Â That is where an editor is needed to pick up this stuff and make those minor changes. Â We don't use them here so they stuck out like a sore thumb. Â Doesn't change the storyline or anything. Â It did give critics---who I don't care for at all--something to bite into. Â To be honest, when I started reading Sylvia, her attention to detail is one of the things that hooked me. Â
  13. Hi Gigi-- Â My daughter is 30 and married. Â We did the whole "talk" thing many years ago and then it was just dropped. Â But since she is a marriage and family therapist, sometimes I ask her opinion about situations with my friends, etc. Â We NEVER discuss her sex life or mine. Â That would be too weird thinking about her parents and I do NOT Â want to think about her in that way although I do hope she and her husband are having fun. Â Â The whole Deanna thing---I do not feel sorry for her and I do not think she has a right to be annoyed with Gideon. Â He is a high profile guy with a reputation so she did what she did with eyes wide open. Â One night stands are just that. Â I cannot picture Gideon as the type to promise a thing. Â Well, he was good, she got hooked, etc. Â Her fault. Â But, she is acting like a woman scorned so I am wondering if it wasn't a one night stand after all. Â Perhaps he has known her for a while and they finally had sex? Â Could she be a friend of Lizzy or Magda or someone? Â It makes no sense for her to be so wild from meaningless sex. Â My biggest concern has always been the police woman---I forget her name. Â I do not trust her at all. Â Megumi is a real issue. Â Something has happened to her.Or someone. Â
  14. HI ladies-- Â I love my ipad. Â Love it. Â And I have an iphone so that when I am out, if I want to read, my books automatically are downloaded since we are "in the cloud." Â I have some vision issues so I love that I can make the font as big as I need. Â My husband has a Kindle and he likes it a lot. Â The font in print books these days is just too small for me. Â The ability to read on a devise has made my life so much better and my ability to read for extended periods of time easier. Â When I am engrossed in a book, I just cannot stop. Â I like to know things from the man's pov. Â I loved that last part of FSOG for that. Â Sometimes it is hard for a woman to really "get" how a man thinks. Â I am curious how Sylvia is going to do this in the next 2 books. Â I am looking forward to that. Â My daughter does not read these kind of books. Â She is a mystery reader. Â So, we cannot discuss. Â I think it is curious since she is a marriage and family counselor but she feels that there are boundaries that we cannot cross. Â Interesting.
  15. I totally agree with you. Â He is not handsome to me at all. Wouldn't turn my head or take my breath away. Â CG and Gideon have to be men who make a woman weak in the knees. Â RB ain't him.
  16. Hi ladies--  After I finished FSOG I wanted another book so I looked on the best sellers list.  RIY was #2 so I checked it out on  my ipad.  When I saw that it was the second in the series I decided to try a sample of BTY.  I was hooked by the first chapter.  I love, love, love Manhattan so that was a draw.  I love Sylvia's writing style.  Loved that Eva has some guts.  And Gideon's crass mouth just sucked me in.  Lol. Â
  17. Morning ladies-- Â So, I must be dense. Â I do like Maya Banks but what is the KGI series and what is book 1? Â Always looking for new books.
  18. When I saw Pattison I was certain what I heard about the books being aimed at young girls was true. Â How could anyone think of him as CG or Gideon or any strong man. Â He is a baby to me. Â Â I have seen Henry with longer hair. Â He could so be Gideon or CG. Â THAT is a man.
  19. I guess I am the only person who never read any of the TWILIGHT Â stuff. Â I thought it was aimed at younger girls? Â I did read that FSOG Â was based on ff but that just confused me since it is hardly for young girls. Â I did also read that Gabriel was based on ff but for the life of me I don't see a resemblance between Gabriel and Christian so I am not sure of the relationship. Â I did read that Henry had been considered for Edward. Â Since I never read the books, I don't know if the right choice was made. Â Henry is very male to me and Pattison is boyish. Â JMHO
  20. Â !Hi there-- Â The GABRIEL books are GABRIEL'S INFERNO AND GABRIEL'S RAPTURE. Â GABRIEL'S REDEMPTION is due out in Dec. Â The author is Sylvain Reynard. Â I love that this is a male author. Â Gabriel is a Dante specialist and the author uses a lot of references to literature and art as well as travel to Italy. Â I like that. Â Gabriel is a very interesting man. Â And some pretty great love scenes also. Â Give a try. Â I, too, started these kinds of books after FSOG. Â Led me to Sylvia and of course, G and E. Â I couldn't get enough of them and Sylvia's writing style. Â Â I think it is so interesting that we all are trying to find our vision of Gideon. I hope for his career that he gets the Christian Grey role. Â I think it will get major promotion. Â But as I said in a previous post, I see him as Gideon and his new girlfriend as Eva and always have.
  21. Please do read ON DUBLIN STREET. It is really good. I agree it is important to read books in order and I did like ODS better than the second book but I liked that also. Â Haven't read the third yet. Â Not sure I am interested in those 2 characters. Â I do not read fantasy or paranormal things. Â Not into them at all. Â Vampires and such do nothing for me. Â I do love Sylvia's historical characters. Â There is one guy---I forget his name but he is super hot---that kind of reminds me of Gideon. Â Same hair and eyes. Â He is repeated in a couple of the books. Â Love him. Â Trying to read other stuff so I stop obsessing about CROSSFIRE. Â
  22. While waiting for Book 4 I have found some other books that are fun. Â I, too, have read the first 2 books of the BREATHLESS trilogy by Maya Banks. Â I like them a lot even though I am not crazy about the BDSM stuff. Â I also have just finished the THIS MAN Â trilogy by Jodi Ellen Malpas which takes place in London. Â I like these a great deal. Â Characters are interesting. Â If anyone has not read the GABRIEL books, then I really recommend them. Also loved ON DUBLIN STREET. Â I found most of these after reading Sylvia's historical books. Â Loved those. Â Truth is it is hard to beat G and E. Â Hurry up Book 4. Â
  23. Hi ladies-- Â Been very busy and haven't read or posted in over a week. Â 50 pages behind!!!! Â My friend knows I think Henry is the hottest man ever. Â She tells me she read somewhere that he is dating the actress who plays Penny on Big Bang Theory. Â I love her. Â And the funny thing is that when I read the books, I always pictured her as Eva and him as Gideon. Â Now how weird is that?
