  1. I was on a 3 hr ferry ride today and forgot my ipad and a book, so I opened my nook app on my phone and began reading ETY to kill the time. I have re-read it a couple times before but just sections at night if I can't sleep and need light reading, but every single time I pick up on things I missed. I'm talking about facial expressions and descriptions of feelings that I read through really quickly and don't pick up on. It seriously changes the scene and the the conversation every time I re-read a conversation.

Reading it has made me anxious for the next book, hopefully in march cause then ill be on spring break and will have time and won't have to rush through it. I am really curious what Dianna meant be "that man has a dark side". I'm assuming she is referring to that time she hooked up TDH and he probably did something kinky. Hopefully we will find out in the next few months! I will say Deanna's role is the most intriguing to me.

  2. ON page 240 of EWY when Darrin said "This whole event was set up just to get us on this TV show and Internet simulcast.  It was the only way Vidal could get them to give us any coverage."   Maybe Christopher does know about the sex tape and the past between Bret and Eva and is trying to get back at Gideon and "hurt" him.

    Just a thought.  Any comments?

I think Sylvia put in Darrin's commentary to explain why there was a video launch in the first place, because Eva as a first person narrator would not know exactly why the event was orchestrated for the band, just that she was invited. Its not really normal these days for a Times Square video launch for an up and coming indie band. Gideon might mention later he set the whole thing up in an undercover sort of way so he would have an event to act as a couple with Eva. Gideon kept saying how impatient it was for the two to begin being seen in public together and he probably assumed Brett would invite Eva. Gideon could accomplish two things by setting up this event: showing off Eva AND making his presence in Eva's life known to Brett.

I wonder how many of the women on here are hoping Sylvia announces the release date Christmas eve, assuming she is taking Christmas day off completely. Or maybe a snippet. I like the idea of her giving us something between tomorrow and New Years, but I also hate to think she is doing some kind of work those days.

  3. "Say Something" by Great Big World is so good!! It can be applied to so many different relationship dynamics. It can go for a lot of Crossfire relationships also. Don't jut read the lyrics people, actually listen to the song.

  5. I have always assumed that Eva recieved a BS degree(4 yrs) then went an additional 2 yrs for a masters program which would put her at her current age of 24...

I assumed the same, but curious as to why Day never mentioned a masters... Not a big issue, just a plot hole that has me curious. It would an even bigger argument for Eva in continuing her own career independently if she spent an extra two years on her masters!

  6. Hi GLH I loved THIS MAN series and GABRIEL also... They really helped me bide the time until Captivated ... Reading Entwined again for at least the tenth time do you have any other suggestions for a good read? Thanks in advance...

If you want a good read that will take up time before cby releases then maybe you should read Charlote Bronte's Jane Eyre! I plan on reading it over my winter break because common tropes and themes in romance novels come from Bronte. It's considered the mother of romance (not forgetting about the father of romance, Shakespeare) and has a Byronic male lead, much like Gideon. It would be interesting if some of us read it and then discussed if we really thought the source of Tall Dark and Dangerous came fom here.

  7. The May date rumor started because Amazon UK had a preorder up for CBY, that was then copied by some foreign bookseller websites. This error was overseas only and never affected any US booksellers or e-tailers. The UK preorder was an error and was quickly removed (Penguin UK released a statement here: http://po.st/l3RuYS explaining).

AFTERBURN and AFTERSHOCK are published by Harlequin in conjunction with Cosmopolitan magazine. They have a completely separate distribution and order fullfillment process, but they face the same issue all my traditional publishers do--booksellers don't want my ebooks to release before the paperbacks. Therefore, if the publisher has to move the paperback release date for any reason, they have to move the ebook, too. Moving forward, my publishers aren't placing my books up for preorder until the paperback release date is immovable and set in stone, so that there's no chance of the release being moved. This couldn't be worked out with Harlequin.

I've said this before, but I'll say it again... It's impossible to compare the releases of my books to other authors, unless you're looking at authors like Dan Brown and George R. R. Martin--authors who don't have preorders for their next books available until a few weeks before the book comes out. It's a major endeavor for a publisher and retailers to get over a million books out on shelves on a single day. No one wants what happened with REFLECTED IN YOU (which sold out before noon on the day of release) to happen again. If you think it's frustrating waiting for a release date, imagine how frustrating it is when the release date comes and every store you visit is sold out of the book and you have to wait another week for them to restock. Those who read ebooks don't have this worry, but I have a lot of paperback readers who buy their books in stores and they want the books on time, too.

I know it seems like nothing is happening, but trust me... things are happening; I'm just not at liberty to discuss a lot of it. All the various pieces are being put into place so that the "reveal" has no missing or moveable parts. (This goes for the TV show, too, which is a completely separate thing from the books--the timeline of one is in no way dependent on the other.) I'm really looking forward to the day when announcements are made!

Thanks Sylvia for explaining everything to us! I think you have created a monster of super Gideon fans with your story, but I have a question over Eva's timeline that is seriously confusing me. What did Eva do the two years between her undergrad degree and when she moved to New York? She explains to Gideon she hadn't been dating in college because she was working on her thesis and bared to you begins with Eva explains she is freshly graduated, yet she is 24...? What did Eva do between her undergrad and moving NYC? Did she take two years off, earn a graduate degree, or wait two years to move from San Diego to New York? I'm a college student who is about to graduate and usually when people graduate when they are twenty four they have a reason like the ones I mentioned. Disclaimer: I have nothing against anyone who earned a degree later than other people their age, but I am just confused as to what Eva's circumstances were in college.

  8. Yes, many many thanks to you and your family. I really don't think it could be said enough!

And a side comment: I feel really bad for Sylvia. I wonder if she is seeking treatment for stress induced illnesses. Sounds a little dramatic typed out but seriously, with so many readers upset with her, when actually they should talk to the publisher, it doesn't seem unlikely that could be the reason. It kind of made me mad people kept asking about the books and when they will get G&E on the post about her being offline because she was sick.

  9. Hi Hotreads,

These lyrics are pretty hateful toward women.  I get that women enjoy a little hot primal sex, but those lyrics talk about violation, desecration.  I don't know how those lyrics could be considered romantic.  This is supposed to be a romance novel (erotic yes, but a passionate love story at the end of the day).

I don't think those lyrics fit Gideon and Eva's story at all.  Sorry.

I think they fit the relationship well. The lyrics are basically talking about sex and all the feeling that go along with "animalistic sex", and from my understanding that kind of action makes you wanna act like you normally wouldn't. So, the lyrics fit pretty well considering the boundaries Eva allows Gideon to cross and the way he makes her feel. If you listen to the song you would most likely feel different.

  10. With the Aftershock news re released next year I am now more frustrated re Captivated by You. I hope I can comprehend the "whys" . I've never been so emotionally frustrated with a book . I badly want this book now its been 5 months or so. I hope we get a  good news. Does publisher doesnt want money, what are they waiting for. I mean Im sure the book is finished. I just want to air my frustrations. Funny thing is I've been reading a lot of books , great books too and some are similar to Crossfire but no matter how i try  i keep coming back wanting Crossfire. its really like a bad habit  . I really got it bad for Cross

I agree with you on how frustrating it is. If the books were on the writing and creativity level of J.K. Rowling or George R.R. Martin the spans of time between installments wold be completely understandable, but the amount of time to write the books and create the mediums in which they are sold (i.e. paperback with low quality paper) does not seem comparable with how often the books are pushed back for release. Especially since Silvia implied she has finished her portion of the work. I think the fault falls completely on the publishers and the genre of books Sylvia writes for. But what can we do? So many things go on behind the scenes with production we have no idea about, so all we can speculate and keep posting on this thread until the time for a release date happens... and knock off other books sitting on our books shelves.

  11. One last thought, well one of those fun fantasies I have .... Gideon insisting he's going to San Diego too - that he, Eva and Cary will fly out there in one of his jets. Then he's going to try to lay down the law with Eva, that he, as the moneyman behind Vidal Records, will deal with Brett, boss to artist. Eva's going to pull the wife card - that she and Gideon are now a business team. He's going to invoke the "honor and obey" part of the traditional wedding vows they took. She'll respond by telling him that doesn't mean he can be a caveman. Then she'll pull the crisis management card -- if Gideon is so insistent on her joining Cross Industries, bringing her talents with her, well she can start using her talents by dealing with the Six-Ninths crisis.

So there. Sounds kinda fun, doesn't it. Gideon has that nervous tick of running a hand through his hair when stressed, running both hands through his hair when really stressed about Eva. The guy's gonna be pulling his hair out?

I like this scenario! I just don't want her to actually work for Cross industries. I understand the probable competition that will emerge with the two companies, but working for Cross industries is a little to much, especially so soon.

Continuing my thoughts on Eva's work, did anyone think it a little strange in the third book when Gideon asked Eva to introduce him as her fiance to the CEO's of the company she works for as an assistant? Sylvia made it seem that Eva already knew the two CEO's well enough for them to access the work she has been hands on with, which is not very likely since the credit would go to Eva's boss for a successful campaign. Just seemed a little silly and unnecessary since its very unlikely a CEO of an advertising company would interact with an entry level assistant to a marginally important account executive.

  12. Considering the Red Hot Reads book, Aftershock, is coming out next week and then Spellbound in December, I doubt we will see Captivated by You before New Years. Also, I think that Brett's involvement will come to an end during the San Diego trip and other enemy/frenemy story lines will be decided as good or bad in the third book. Considering how detailed the days and how short of a time span each book is, I am sure Sylvia will make the last book a wrap up with the happy ending we want.

As for that hoe Corrine, I think Gideon will come to a point in his emotional and mental state where he realizes he isn't too blame. I think this change will come with Eva's help, especially since they are married and Gideon feels more secure with the marriage. I think Giraoux (spelling?) will take Corrine back, but I really want to see a showdown between Corrine and Eva. Not a one-line cutting remark and then walking off with a flip of the hair, but a really heated shouting match where we get to see some really good character expression.

I think the bracelet issue will be discovered and be pretty anti climatic. I think the purpose of the bracelet was to make the reader feel secure about prison for both of them not being an issue. Also, someone is gonna get an Arse kicking for the sex vid.

And my last thought is about the  back cover Sylvia released. The dark past of Gideon that pushes Eva to question her ability to be with Gideon is foreshadowing some BDSM. I think that things are gonna get a lot kinkier in the next two books.
