I wonder why Elizabeth Vidal seems to be so invested in her delusion and her utter belief that her son was/is a liar. When one thinks about it, so many years have passed between Gideon's abuse and Gideon in adulthood and yet, Elizabeth Vidal continues to spend the same amount of time if not more, trying to convince others (mainly Eva) that Gideon is either sick or a liar. Â

Why has this woman been so steadfast in her commitment to her son being ill? Given time and space and maybe a change in perspective, wouldn't a person say "Hey maybe I made a mistake?". That's what I don't understand about Elizabeth Vidal. What does everyone think?
