Up until Eva, Gideon was always in complete control which to me also means that he was the one who initiated s** with his partners but when Eva came along she completely blew that control all too he**.  She was the one to initiate full se**** intercourse between the two of them in the limo.  Up until then, I suspect that Gideon had something planned which would have involved Eva wearing nothing but her ankle bracelet.

 

Then when they were at the gym, it seems that Gideon had already formulated a plan in his head until Eva said that she was super turned on by Gideon’s sweat and I was her who suggested that they find a place nearby where they could have s**.   What do you think?  What does everyone think?

he's already been to her house so I'm sure he probably would've took her back there until Eva suggested someplace closer and that's when he thought of his f***pad as his old standby. He also didn't think of how it would effect Eva when she found all the stuff in there and saw it for what it really was to him.

I always thought that Cary's relationship with Trey was horrible  When someone asks someone else to be something that he's not then that's a recipe for disaster!  I am sure that Trey was a nice person in his own right, but his lack of acceptance of Cary's bisexuality is not good for Cary.  Therefore that relationship would be unhealthy for both parties.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I'm right there with you on this!! I liked Trey in the beginning but you're right he was not good for Cary because of Trey's lack of acceptance that Cary was bisexual. He expects Cary to just be gay and that's not Cary. I'm actually liking Tatiana with Cary. It seems like she doesn't to change him and she knew to dress in s****y nurse costume for him when she visited him which he liked and said she must know him well. I'm wondering if she's going to be in EWY.

I have been reading everyone’s comments about how Eva handled the f*** pad scenario.  I just wanted to throw out a quick question.  Does everyone think that Gideon would have taken Eva back to his hotel room or back to his house?

If we go back and read the scenario as it played out, Eva asked Gideon not to shower because it turned her on and also asked Gideon if they could find some place close by where they could have hot sweaty s** (my  paraphrasing not Sylvia’s)?  If Eva had allowed Gideon to remain in control instead of requesting a change of plans, do you think that Gideon would have taken Eva to the hotel?  My guess is no, Gideon wouldn’t have taken Eva back to his hotel.  I think that maybe they would have had sex in the limo and hen probably gone back to Eva’s apartment.  Thus far, Gideon broke all of his rules and changed his ways for Eva.  I don’t think that he would have used his old ways to woo Eva.  What does everyone think?

 

I'm kind of on the fence on this one because on previous posts, gideon always had sexual intercourse at the f****pad hotel that is until Eva broke him of that rule. I would like to think had she not suggested they find a place nearby that he wouldn't taker her there but rather back to her place instead.      

  

I think that finances are a concern to the extent that he must realize on some level that he doesn’t have the skills to deal with the average 9-5 job.  When kids were out get jobs babysitting and working in the local grocery store or burger joint, Cary was busy prostituting himself.  It is unclear whether Cary was forced into prostitution (by his mother) and remained or whether at some point Cary stayed voluntarily (in order to support himself; food, rent, life expenses).  It also isn’t clear whether his mother took the money he earned from prostituting or whether he was clever and hid some of it or all of it. 

 

I think you also make a good point in that Cary is beginning to realize that time moves on and Eva is finding love.  I think that must make Cary realize on some level that he has to work on what is holding him back from finding love and companionship (if that is what Cary wants in his life).  Time will ultimately tell what Cary decides.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?  

I hope Sylvia will go a little more into Cary's past because I'm curious as to what happened in his early years. We only get bits and pieces but I'm hoping for a little more. I agree with you. Cary needs to work on companionship. He doesn't want to be with someone who wants to change him like Trey wants to which is good because if he allowed Trey to change him, Cary would be miserable.

I agree with your position.  I think that Cary will eventually get back on his feet.  Up until Cary went into therapy, the reader was left with the impression that Cary was either prostituting himself or was forcibly being prostituted (which is horrendous).

As a result of these life experiences, I don’t think that Cary learned the basic skills of how to interact with other people within a work setting without adding a component of sexuality to it.  I am not sure if Cary would make it in a mainstream (9-5) job.  Modeling depends on a person being able to sell the consumer the product (jeans, perfumes, vodka, etc.) all while using the model’s sexuality as the vehicle.  So in that way, I think that modeling is a very good option for Cary (that and the fact that he is gorgeous).

 

I hope that Stanton and Monica come into the picture when Cary makes it big in his modeling career.  If Stanton has the “Midas†touch when it comes to finances, then perhaps he can help Cary invest his hard earned money and live a comfortable life.  He deserves it after all. 

Cary would do much better in modeling then a 9-5 job. he's got the looks and as Eva pointed out in BTY, he didn't always look like this. He needs to see he's gorgeous and capable of being loved and in love with someone who treats him how he should be treated. Eva envisions him being famous and I think he is well on his way and he's got Stanton to help invest that hard earned money. Aside from the setback from being almost beaten to death by nathan, Cary was doing well landing modeling jobs..in agreement, cary deserves nothing but the best.  

If only the pair would have learnt to communicate. If they would have put as much effort into talking, as they did making love, then life would have been a lot simpler for them.

This was their problem from day one. So many secrets!

I believe Eva will be much too busy to live her life with Gedeon to bother about standing in Cary's way. Although she is bound to be less of a constant, reassuring presence in Cary's life, I like to think she will always have a special place for Cary in her heart (but, please, don't tell Gedeon!!!!).

I think Monica and Stanton won't stop supporting Cary's career, for he's got such a strong bond with Eva that it would seem cruel not to back him up in his working life; moreover, he might even provide them with useful pieces of information about what's going on in their daughter's life..... they know too well that she can keep secrets.

What Eva is most concerned about so far is Cary's refusal of emotional commitment.... but as her relationship with Gedeon sets an example for Cary to look up to, let's hope he stops 'experimenting' and finds the courage to be happy in a functional relationship!

I really like Cary. he is such a great friend and brother figure to Eva and he's had such a rough upbringing that he deserves a happy ending but he needs to see that he is self sabatoging his relationships. Gideon had to come to terms that Cary will always hold a special place in her heart and will always be part of her life. Whatever makes Eva happy, makes Gideon happy. He will definitely help Cary with getting the right connections to the right people who will make his career soar.    

To one another, Eva and Cary are the brother-sister that neither one of them had. And Monica and Stanton are the good parents he never had. He's family by choice, which is every bit as meaningful as family by blood.

 

What little we know of Cary's birth mother isn't good. At the very least, she was neglectful. It's possible he himself was abused by others because she failed to protect him. When Eva met him in group therapy, he had sexual issues of his own. We just don't know too many details yet. But then again, a lot of Gideon's stuff is still hidden too.

 

That said ..... Cary just like Eva sometimes cross over into unhealthy behavior by "enabling" Monica. Her obsession with protecting Eva -- so bad that Dr. Petersen is treating her specifically for it -- makes her do things like rent them their expensive apartment (because it's "safe".)

 

Eva accused Stanton of actually enabling her mother in a way that keeps Monica sick. What Eva (and Cary) both need to recognize that they're sometimes guilty of doing the exact same thing.

I couldn't agree with you more about this. I really hope in either EWY or the next two books, monica, eva and cary come to this realization.

I can only imagine how shocked Eva must have felt when she realized that Gideon had taken her to his 'f*** pad outfitted with everything he'd need to have a good time with the women that served that purpose in his life.'!!!!

 

It's a pity she left the room so hurriedly.... she could have said one thing or two to Gedeon. At least, I would.

I'm surprised she didn't say anything to him before she left because I wonder if he would've taken her to his apartment after she had a few words with him when he came out of the shower. Her actions of running away spoke volumes and really scared him. I felt bad for him.  

Gideon promised Eva he'd talk to Magdalene so that moving forward, Magdalene would not be a problem. And it worked. It was a promise Gideon could keep. Because moving forward, Magdalene never did another openly-mean thing to Eva.

 

Especially after Magdalene caught Gideon and Eva "in the act" by walking in on them having sex at the Vidal estate. Even before Magdalene totally threw in the towel over Corrine, Magdalene threw in the towel over Eva. As she cried to that snake, Christopher, Magdalene admitted she believed Gideon was in love with Eva. I'm certain that the "talk" Gideon had with Magdalene the Monday he found out how vicious Magdalene had been to Eva convinced Magdalene that Gideon actually was serious about his brand new girlfriend, Eva. Then with her own eyes, Magdalene saw irrefutable proof.

 

I'll bet though that Magdalene still clung to some tiny hope that things would burn out between Gideon and Eva so that she (Magdalene) not Eva could fill the gaping hole in Gideon's heart -- the hole Magdalene firmly believed (wrongly) that Corrine opened up when Corrine left Gideon.

 

But then the final blow for Magdalene came when unexpectedly and after all those years, Corrine came running back to Gideon. Magdalene wised up that she never get Gideon now. If that sex tape between her and Christopher already wasn't a deal-breaker, well now Magdalene's chances were over forever, because Gideon had his soulmate. She had that part right. What she was wrong about is who had finally filled the hole inside Gideon. It wasn't Corrine -- it never was all those years ago and it would never be.

and that's why I think Magdalene deserves to be Gideon's friend & make an appearance in the next book.  I think she and Arnoldo should be an item too in the next book! I like her now and she deserves to have someone who makes her happy and get far away from the evil clutches of Chris Jr. ever happning again : )

Hey all...just wondering if anyone else had songs in mind for Gideon and Eva?

it's not a romantic song so don't laugh but the song by Mumford and Sons "I will wait" makes me think of Gideon & Eva when he tells her in the elevator to be patient and wait. I'm having a spring fever kind of day so my brain is fried lol

I feel like I'm always behind when I'm trying to catch up too the next day. I have to remind myself to go to bed at night or else I'll be up burning the midnight oil. lol

If he's not playing a major role, he can stay right where he is..! It's already baffling haven to figure Eva and Gideon out..!!

I think characters like Will and Megumi are just background characters who are just there in the storyline for Eva to have as friends in the office and to interact with but not get involved fully in the story as main characters. We never do a get a name for the red headed receptionist so she's likely to pop up occasionally as the receptionist who gives eva the sour puss because Eva snagged Gideon. We know Gideon's secretary's name is Scott but not hers lol.

'Cause we're getting the mother of all snippets - an entire chapter!!!! SQUEEE!!!!!

 

One thing I'm thinking would be fun to do after each of us finishes Chapter One of Entwined is to go look at the very early pages of this thread, back when we had just Snapshot One -- that "Press" and "Pen" thing. We had all sorts of great theories. Now we get to see how things actually panned out. We get to figure out what Snapshot One actually signified in Chapter One.

I think that once Arnoldo sees that Gideon forgave Eva, and that Gideon is so happy with Eva -- the way Gideon started out that night of the concert, then Arnoldo will forgive her too. Arnoldo thought Eva was great right on up to the moment she did something really stupid that hurt Gideon really badly. Arnoldo saw with his own eyes Eva could complete Gideon or destroy him.

 

And unfortunately, right now (i.e. where Reflected left off) Arnoldo is probably still furious at Eva and saying "good riddance to bad trash." Last he saw of Eva, he was getting out of the limo and was thinking at the time Angus was driving Eva straight home. Arnoldo chewed Eva out and then watched the limo drive away.

 

Fast forward to the very next time Arnoldo saw Gideon -- Monday, when Gideon arrived at Arnoldo's restaurant on a "date" with Corrine. And knowing Gideon well, Arnoldo would have been able to read Gideon's body language enough to something was really eating Gideon badly. (Of course, Arnoldo wouldn't have known a thing about the truth -- Nathan had Gideon now terrified.)

 

P.S. I think Magdalene and Arnoldo actually could end up as a couple. They're both single. They both have a very good, very old mutual friend - Gideon.

Agreed! Arnoldo wants his friend Gideon to be happy and yes once he sees Gideon happy with Eva again, he will forgive Eva. I can totally see Magdalene and Arnoldo being a couple set up by Gideon : )

Yes I did think Mark crossed the line, considering Gideon doesn't work for them, although he is a client. But I think his intentions were honourable. He has grown to like Eva, and was giving her a friendly warning. Her being new to New York, she wouldn't have known about Gideons reputation. Also he saw that Eva was a good worker, I'm sure he didn't want to lose her.

Agreed! I'm sure he was very worried he'd lose a great worker because of Cross's reputation once he saw Cross's attention was focused on Eva. I didn't really see it as stepping over the line but someone who cared about her as a person enough to warn her about Cross.

Yes I hope in the new book we get to hear more about Eva's career and how that affects Gideon since he is so controlling it will be interesting to see how he deals with her success...

maybe that's the chapter with the snapshot of business headline and the cup of coffee?? I think he would be so proud of her being a success.

I too want Cary to have his financially happily ever after.  I could see Monica and Stanton stepping in to help him though, but I could only see a scenario like that playing out for a short while.  I think that eventually they would grow tired of coming to his financial rescue. 

 

On some level I think that Stanton will be glad when Eva gets married.  Stanton will no longer be responsible for taking care of her and will finally get to enjoy time with Monica without having to hear about Monica worrying about Eva’s safety or of Nathan rearing his ugly head etc.  Maybe for the first time Stanton may actually get Monica all to himself without the shadow of Eva being ever present.

 

Please don’t get me wrong, I think that Stanton is a good man who has done a lot to help, Eva, I think that he will be glad with Eva and everyone around her will allow her to become emotionally independent and allow her to make decisions for herself.  Maybe everyone will let Eva finally prove that she has grown up.  What do you think?  What does everyone think?

I'm in total agreement with you. Monica & Stanton think of Cary as family but you can only come to a family member's financial rescue before you have to stop enabling them and make them financially independent. Eva never wanted to be financially dependent on Monica and Stanton and why she gives them a hard time when they shower her & Cary with gifts. I think once Cary gets back on his feet, he's going to be on his way to being financially independent in his modeling career and once he stops self sabatoging his love life, he will be happy in his life. I'm proud that Eva didn't settle and take the cushy job Stanton would've gotten her and instead took the entry level job as Mark's assistant where she is doing well and loves her job. I can see her being successful and moving up.   

Favourite passage today is, "it's probably best for me to work off some energy before I get you naked. I'm sure you'd like to be able to walk tomorrow" yummy!

I was thinking the same thing and wishing we couldn've read what he left on the voicemail. but sylvia would say we won't know because eva never listened to them.

It's said in Chapter 7 that Gideon left "a couple of messages" (p. 109) in Eva's voice mail. I've been wondering about the quantity, the content, the duration, and the interval between them. I hope someday in the near future Sylvia would allow me to hear, eerrr... read those messages *puppy eyes*

 

[imagining the short sentences.... the long pauses... the various intonations in saying "Eva"... the escalating frustating tone as the messages ignored... *crossfired sgh*]

I think Corrine will slink away once Gideon confronts her. Maybe she will go back to France and try to crawl back to her husband.

When I read BTY,Eva described the red head at the Advocacy dinner as a woman in her 40's and isn't her husband also in his 40's?? I thought it might be her. I really don't want Anne to make an appearance in any upcoming books. but since gideon slept with her to get revenge on dr. lucas, i'm sure that will come up once again.

I didn't think that was Anne Lucas. However, i wonder if we will meet her in the upcoming books?
