Hi All,

I'm back from my beach trip and self-imposed exile from Gideon and Eva. I have to say it wasn't as difficult as I had feared. My sister and I are the grandmothers to 6 toddlers under the age of 4 (2 sets of twins) and with all of them running around, going back and forth to the beach, and their parents going through innumerable bottles of wine and beer, there weren't the old lazy days of lounging by the sea with beach novels! (It's very difficult to read when one keeps getting clutched by dripping toddlers and trying to keep sun screening their little sandy bodies.) My books would have been wet, oily, and sandy, too!

So I am now home and starting the Crossfire series at the beginning. I'm really enjoying reading straight through instead of jumping around back and forth - especially after not having them for a while. It must be great for people who are just discovering the books to be able to read all three at once. But then they'll have to join the ranks of readers desperate for even a little snippet!

Hello Ladies- I'm leaving for the beach tomorrow for a week and I've made a momentous decision! . I'm going to leave my Crossfire books behind. I don't think I've gone more than a couple of days without at least a taste, since I discovered them in the spring. So it will be cold turkey. There is wifi where I'm staying so I will have to subsist on board comments and Sheen's luscious photos. I may have to go back into the Chapter a Day favorite quotes section if I get desperate for a fix. Wish me luck. Nancy

Sheens-the picture you posted for Ireland is perfect I think. She looks young and sweet. Most of the suggested pics I've seen are to old and assured looking.

Hey Ladies,

Did anyone else want more details on their beach wedding? Like how Gideon gave Eva the ring? Did she see it for the first time when he put it on her finger? Or after  he said 'marry me' on the chaise after pulling her from the water? I'm sure we're going to get  to read all the vows from their next wedding, but , idk...I kinda wanted more. Greedy, I know. I think that Gideon will design her wedding band...maybe inscribe something sweet inside.

I totally understand Deanna's reaction. It's one thing to have a slam bam thank you ma'am, but he treated her with such cruel contempt. It makes my skin crawl imagining some guy treating me that way. She may have come on a little strong, but he used her to get away Ann Lucas and he didn't have to take her to his f pad and do what he did. I think Eva was revolted by his behavior and even Gideon himself felt some embarrassment over having been such a sh@t. I'd have tried to pay him back too.

Just remembered, the writer of the blog - fifty shades of grey and more - has written a one shot Crossfire fanfic.

* a one shot is just one scene as opposed to a full story

She has written the scene when Nathan first contacts Gideon. It is worth a read, as is her fifty shades work. Not as good as Sasha Cameron IMO but well worth a read.

I found the Fifty Shades of Grey and More site. It was better than some, though a little overwrought! Glad to see Nathan get his comeuppance, but his character didn't ring true. The GidEva sex scene was better, but a little Over the top? Just my opinion, though. Thanks for the suggestion, Rogue.

Can't believe people like Terrence Lucas twice as much as Brett! Not to mention Slimey Sam.

I have posed this question before; what is fanfiction?  Who writes it?  Where can one find it?  Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance. 

All you have to do is google sylvia day fan fiction and you will get a selection. There may be other ways, but I tried some there and didn't care for any. Plus all the bad spelling and grammar drove me crazy !

Yum! Dark and dangerous for sure.

I didn't exactly go into a series of novels about gorgeous, powerful, young millionaires and billionaires who have electric chemistry and sex several times a day expecting perfect realism.   

 

But I will say that the one thing that kept jumping out at me as unrealistic was GIdeon's and Eva's work schedules.  I was surprised that Eva, even as an entry-level employee, works only 9-5 with an hour for lunch plus scheduled breaks in advertising in NYC.  I've never had an office job like that!  (It's more common, IME, to get 8-5 with lunch, but most people in the offices I'm familiar with tend to work longer hours than "required.")  As for Gideon . . . my husband is a young executive and he bucks the corporate trend by being home for breakfast AND dinner every day.  He puts in plenty of hours working from home in the evenings to make that happen (we have little kids and he puts them ahead of his career at this point).  But in no job he's ever had, has 9-5 including lunch and breaks been the norm.  Eva talks about Gideon "working late" if he has a meeting until 6:00.  I'd expect his norm to be at *least* 12 hour days in the office, with work at home after that. She acknowledges that he must be taking time away from his career to be with her, and I suspect that's true in a big way!  Sharing a limo to work at 9:00 AM?  What happened to his first three hours of morning meetings?!  (To be fair, if Gideon and Eva had only 6 hours a day outside of work, to include eating, sleeping, sex, and plot development, it would be challenging to tell an exciting story within those constraints.)

I try to explain the unrealistic schedule to myself by saying that he has already formed and organized Crossfire Industries so well, with smart people in top positions throughout, that if he wishes he can act in more of a supervisory role except for really major problems, strategies, and acquisitions. And of course times when he needs to act as the face and guiding hand of CI as he did with that Japanese conference call.

I also don't want or expect these books to be totally realistic, but I like them to make sense. Hope this helps you believe! :)

Oh H E L L to the yeah!! For some reason every time I imagine Gideon even before I seen a pic this is how I see him.

I always love looking at the Henry-Gideon pictures, but one thing always bothers me. I almost never envision him smiling as he does in the majority of the photographs. In my mental images he is always "dark and dangerous" with the piercing blue eyes, or else with a face on fire with passion and (oh my!)

Love how SD describes his public persona: "his mask slipped smoothly into place. His irises chilled to an icy blue and his sensual mouth lost any hint of curve." That's why Eva is always so happy when he lets himself relax, smile, and even laugh with her.

Henry of course has to please the public while Gideon can just tell everyone to back off.

A friend gave me Claim Me and Release Me by J. Kenner. They follow a Gideva type couple. They are 2/3 of The Stark Trilogy - last book due out July 30. They were better than most versions of difficult hot billionaire and wounded heroine I have tried - IMO about equal in quality to On Dublin Street which I liked. Don't mean to sound so lukewarm - it's just nothing compares to Crossfire.

I have seen a few posts in the past few days about Martin (Marty) and Michael and wondering if the two are one in the same.  I think it is pretty safe to say that they are not. 

 

However the question that I want to ask is...do you think that Michael is a new character in the book or do you think that he is something that we have previously been introduced to, as either someone nameless or someone we have been introduced to as a different name? 

 

There is one character that we know very little about and I would be interested in learning more about and that is Gideon's assistant Scott.  He seems like a really great person and assistant, but I feel like I would like to know more about him. 

 

Also, are we all convinced that something "bad" has happened to Megumi and that she is not sick?  If so, are we convinced that it is of Michael's doing?

They are two different characters. Lacey first had a blind date with Michael and passed him off to Megumi. Martin is Eva's sort of step cousin. He and Lacey were introduced by eva at the club Primal and have started seeing each other. "Dabbling" as Martin described it. Lacey links the two men.

Is there already a thread for Other Books?  If not, there should be!  I'll never find all the great recommendations for authors/series/books again when I'm ready to shop for new books.  This thread is fabulous, but too long to easily search through!

When I first joined the forum in May, I started a thread called Books as Good as the Crossfire Series. There were only a few replies, so the thread is on the second page of the section listing the crossfire threads. You might check for what is listed. I wish I had thought to add to it when people gave a suggestion. Maybe we can start it up again. Sounds like we can definitely add Afterburn and Aftershock. In the future.
