Scottish Phrases from Angus, ones I like anyway
Â
May the best ye've ever seen
Be the warst ye'll ever see.
May the moose ne'er lea' yer aumrieWi' a tear-drap in his e'e.
May ye aye keep hail an' hertieTill ye're auld eneuch tae dee.
May ye aye be jist as happy
As we wiss ye noo tae be. Translation:-
Â
May the best you've ever seen
Be the worst you'll ever see.
May the mouse never leave your pantry
With a tear-drop in his eye.
May you always keep healthy and hearty
Until you're old enough to die.
May you always be just as happy
As we wish you now to be.
Â
Where'er ye bide in the world sae wide,
We wish ye a neuk on the sunny side,
Wi' muckle o' love and little o' care,
A wee bit pursie wi' siller to spare,
Yer ain wee ingle when day is spent,
In a wee bit housie wi' hearts content. - Translation
Â
Wherever you live in the world so wide,
We wish you a nook on the sunny side,
With much love and little care,
A little purse with money to spare,
Your own little hearth when day is spent,
In a little house with hearts content.
Love this, Sheens! You should have given it to us sooner, I could have chosen any number of phrases from it - it seemed like Angus only said a few words, so I just guessed. I'm particularly fond of, "may the mousie never leave your pantry with a teardrop in his eye."
-
You do? What do you think he said? I know what I think.
I'll tell you mine if you tell me yours.
"A braw lass for a braw lad."
-
Back from stuffing my face!! I read the snippet and it definitely peaked my interest!
Very punny!
-
Sylvia just posted the first Afterburn snippet, guess we need a new section for this new series
Is there a book in this series already out? The snippet sounds like its a continuation of an earlier story.

I think you will be right there, going to pre-order soon
I'm done with pre-ordering after my experience with EWY. I would have gotten a couple days faster just going to the bookstore.

Personally I don't think anything would make Angus happier than doing this. I cannot tell you how much I love and respect Angus. He has been so many different things and played so many different roles in Gideon's and now Eva's life and for him to see his boss and pseudo son happy and being a father...I think that would mean so much to Angus to be there to see another generation of Cross' grow.
Fayeth, I'm a little concerned about all this crushing on Angus. I put in a claim for him not long after I joined this forum. Surely there are plenty of younger guys you can hit on - Daniel, Arnoldo, Cary, etc. Besides, I know what he said to Gideon after the vows. :)

Nancy
I think we are all looking at a portion at some point. Lol
Yes, it will be quite a meal. I wonder what the more perspicacious ones will have instead? Zabaione and raspberries? Petrossian's Ossetra and Kingsman's?

Totally agree with you here Nrock.
Personally, I think Eva (and maybe Gideon) are totally to blame for the whole Brett situation. IMO he has done absolutely nothing wrong. All he's doing is pursuing a woman he lost a long time ago and has wanted back ever since.
People's main complaints about him are:
1. Him being overly familiar and a bit crude to Eva too quickly. However every one is quite forgiving of Gideon who did the same thing and with less right IMO.
2. The Golden video - it was embarrassing and uncomfortable for Eva. However it was just a visual representation of the song, as many music videos are. It's not like he filled it with sex scenes & they had nothing to do with anything. The song describes their relationship which was mainly about sex, and Eva had no problem with the song, in fact I think she was flattered by it.
Rogue,
To tell the truth, I feel Brett has behaved in a pretty gentlemanly way given Eva's current actions towards him. (Now I'm ducking to avoid the brickbats and rotten tomatoes that are being thrown at me!) . And I'm going to be eating a crow the size of a turkey if it turns out he had anything to do with the sex tape.
-
I keep thinking about Eva and how she appears to be leading Brett on, how wittingly is hard to say for sure. Now I'm thinking she's almost mentally living a parallel life with him. She was so crazy about him back in the day and tried so hard to create a real relationship with him, but he was too immature to handle her or even acknowledge his feelings for her.
I think Eva is so happy and relieved to find Brett now acting towards her the way she wished back then that she has a hard time separating herself from him and making a clean break from her past with him. Some of her actions re Brett are so inappropriate and hurtful to Gideon I can only explain it to myself by thinking she's still a little bit stuck in the past. I mean we know she couldn't be more passionately in love with Gideon, and she's whip smart and perceptive, so that's the only way I can explain it.

Hi Nancy, Â
Could you tell me please where Eva mentioned that to Cary (page number). It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.Â
It's on page 305 EWY, Gigi.

It's weird because I can't decide whose side I am on on the job argument. I get why Eva wants to stand on her own 2 feet and accomplish things on her own. But at the same time its insane that she work for someone else given the size of Gideon's empire!! What does everyone think is going to happen with this?
My gut is telling me that Eva will end up running both the foundation she sets up and the Crossroads foundation. That would be a good compromise... what do you think?
Remember when Eva said something to Cary about him helping her run the foundation? I'm hoping that pans out. It would be great for Cary's self-esteem to be valued for something besides his appearance and it would pull him away from the unhealthy lifestyle that goes with the modeling business. Besides he would be a natural at schmoozing with and charming big bucks out of wealthy men and women. I suppose Eva would be involved in a major way, too. I'll miss her in the ad business, if she goes, however. It's fun and lively for her there. Wonder what SD has planned for her.

Totally agree with you here. If Brett never had feelings for Eva why did he write the song Golden?
He released that song before he knew where Eva was / what she was doing / who she was dating. But he as much as said that he was hoping it would bring Eva back to him. That is not someone who is all about the chase. That is the actions of someone who had feelings for someone and missed them greatly when they were gone.
Eva's insecurities are why she thought Brett never had feelings for her. Though I'm sure his actions didn't help matters. They were both kids and poor at expressing their feelings and what was going on in their heads.
IMO Brett has been searching for Eva for a long time and that is why he is not taking no for an answer. He's been thinking about and missing her for 4 years and he given the mixed signals she's been sending, you can't really blame the guy for not giving up so easily. She walked away once, he doesn't want that to happen again.
I so agree with you and it's a good point about him writing the song as having been an indication of his feelings. As I've said before, I think he's basically a decent guy. He's grown and matured some, though not enough, just like Eva has. He's had very mixed messages, to say the least. Why shouldn't he take a shot? Eva's very lovable and he knows how he blew it the first time. I'll keep saying it, that I don't believe he would do anything that might hurt her with something like that sex tape. And I don't believe she'd ever have to use martial arts to fend him off. As Cary said, she just has to say no and mean it.

Julie, I didn't see the rest of your question when I replied. I'm pretty sure Eva would have been referring to her college years. I'm an elementary school teacher and when I see parents of former students or students I ask where they are in school.
-
Hi Sharon
Humour me here please. In education in the USA, if someone said they went to school, what age group would you be thinking about?
Julie, if I may insert myself, and without knowing the circumstances, I would say they're referring to their college or university. College students and twenty somethings will say "where did you go to school?" or "where did you go to school?" Rather than what college did you go to. It used to be that meant an age range from 17-18 to 24-25. Of course students often stay much longer here now, and people take courses and degrees at all ages now. Hope this helps.

Gabri - somehow or other I managed to insert my comment into yours. I was typing it and then it disappeared. Then it turned up inside your comment. Strange things happen with me and computers! My apologies. Nancy

Hi Nancy
I assumed Mark didn't, he was convinced he didn't. Eva's bosses will jump through hoops to get Gideons business. Perhaps Gideon had already approached the advertising co, regarding his vineyard.
That's a good point. So do you think Gideon asked for Mark again and Waters is just telling him they now don't want the Ariana account?

Good afternoon ladies
It's homework tiime here in Italy, so I can spend some time with you.
Â
In my umph rereading of Bared, I'm at the Vidal's party and some things strike me as odd.:
Â
1) Eva's stamement that Ireland is a 'very lovely brunette' has me thinking about the brunette issue again. What if Gideon is subconsciously linking the brunettes he only dates socially with Ireland (and they will become good friends of his, like Magdalene), while those he spends time with 'actively f***ing' are indeed linked with his mother, which makes them revenge f**ks on Lizzie?
Â
2)Lizzie's cougar thing with Cary is so gross. What kind of mother would say those things to a total stranger?
Â
3) Christopher Vidal Sr., who's seriously underdressd for the occasion and had rather Eva called him Chris., makesme think ofjust like a teen would be. No wonder Gideon has taken over the family business!!!
Â
Gotta go now. Chat later. Ciao!
I keep wondering if Chris Sr. Is ever going to take part in the story. In the little we've seen of him he strikes me as being kind of beaten down or pus*sy whipped. (are sixty somethings allowed to use that kind of language?)
-
Slightly differ on this one.
I don't think Corinne is crazy mad. I think she is a crazy manipulator, to get what she wants. She blindsided Gideon and Eva at the dinner in Bared, convinced Eva she had a nooner with Gideon, and at her apartment. The woman is spiteful and devious. Unfortunately the miscarriage was a result, of that attempted suicide. Something she will have to live with for the rest of her life. We will have to wait to see where this storyline goes, but I don't disagree, the woman needs help.
I think she's driven herself crazy. She couldn't act overtly the way she does and still be normal - devious manipulator or not. She couldn't be sane and be clawing and crying at Gideon the way she is. In her right mind she would have to know nothing would be more certain to drive him away than all that clinging, whining, and making scenes. At the beginning when she came back, she was pretty clever in her ploys with, Eva, and stuff like remember the good old days, etc., She was probably thinking Eva's jealousy would turn off Gideon and drive him back to her. But she's just acting bonkers now. I don't believe she really intended to commit suicide, but screwed it up and took too many pills. And if she knew about and was still willing to risk drug damage to her baby, she needs committal and help.

Really good. It's got me by the throat. Season3 coming very soon. They said July right?
Where is LN Cronan? We haven't heard from her in a long while!
Â
Come back, LN.
I think I remember her saying she was going away for vacation. Miss her insight and background knowledge.

Hi Julie,
I'm not sure if Eva confronted Corinne that it would help any. Corinne's currently on the fast track to crazy. She's not acting rationally at the minute and if Eva were to confront her, there is no telling what she would do. But I don't thibk she would recognise that Gideon has chosen Eva and it's over. I think for Corinne to accept that fact it has to come from Gideon.
Think about it, at which point would you give up...
Eva telling you "he loves me."
Gideon telling you "I love her. "
With both Brett & Corinne, it has to come from the person they are pursuing. It's the only way they'll accept defeat.
Fast track to crazy is right. Corinne just attempted suicide and suffered a miscarriage. Regardless, of anybody's feelings towards her, right now the only person Corinne needs to be confronting is a psychiatrist, hopefully a new one. Gideon and Eva need to stay far far away.

Hi Nancy
I think we all know that Gideon requested Mark, when he was asked to work on the Kingsman Vodka project(hmmm, i wonder why?). I also think that Mark didn't get the Adriana vineyard account, because Gideon had acquired the Black Rosé vineyard, and a certain assistant would have been working with the opposition. I'm sure Gideon has had a hand in this somewhere.
Hi Julie, I'm a little confused. Why are you saying Mark didn't get the account? Because there would have been a conflict of interest because Eva would have sided with La Rose Noir against Adriana ? It's very early in the morning in VA right now and I've not yet been caffeinated!
Good thinking about connecting the two vineyards. Hadn't thought about that.
-
Hi Nancy,Â
Do you think that Gideon specifically requested Mark because of his ad skills or do you think that he got the job because of Gideon's interest in Eva?
I think a little of one and a lot of the other!
-
I'd certainly love to they seem like they have a great workplace!!
Great place to work unless Mark didn't win the Adrianna Vineyard account and they want to fire or demote him.
I just thought of another possibility, though. Suppose Gideon had made some sort of proposal to the agency that they take on some of the other Crossfire accounts. Maybe he could be proposing that Mark work more for Crossfire in a sort of liaising (if that's a word) capacity. They know he trusts Mark because Gideon had specifically requested him for the Crossfire (née Kingsman) Vodka account. The Waters agency would just love to have a closer relationship with the Crossfire Industries. I'm sure they'd be more than happy to throw in a lowly assistant account manager in with the deal for Mark, even if Gideon has yet to suggest it to them.
Which might lead to Eva finally getting a chance to demonstrate her Krav Maga skills on Gideon's a s s.
Don't know how plausible this scenario really is, but if SD is making us wait till the fall for the next installment, we're going to have to do some writing ourselves to feed the beast.

Trouble with suing is that it would probably give the whole thing even more publicity. I think people often find that out when they sue over libel or slander.
