    OMG! Tornadoes are the worst, at least here in florida we have a warning of a hurricane and have time to prepare! Â I truly hope they will be safe all throughout this ordeal.Â

    I dont really mind the not adopting him. Im the product of divorced parents and my mom had remarried twice and not once did the conversation of either of her husbands (ex and present) adopting me.  I think Gideon felt as a child like the Vidals robbed him of his mother, and the fact that she didnt believe his abuse made things even worse.Â

    Julie you asked me this on the other thread but I saw that it fits here so I just copy and pasted it!  I think it was his abuse and his mother's neglect. The worst thing for a child is for something to happen to them and the person of authority and who's supposed to be your safe haven practically thinks you're the problem.  He lost his father and the support he needed after that wasn't there.Â

    Â I read how HC played the role of superman as a man who is looking for his place in society and fighting who he really is because he was hiding his abilities and his true self. Â Gideon fought to make his own way, on his own in the sense that he knew he wanted to control his life and he knew who he wanted to become. But I do think he has superman qualities though.Â

    Â I understand your explanation for it and those are all valid points but Freud isnt the right explanation for it (quite frankly i dont like freud lol). Â All those points you made probably did happen but they probably continued into young adulthood and caused a lasting effect. The things is that his mom probably never made up for her neglect if any and that just made his wound even deeper.Â
