  1. You are right. I find it interesting that Monica has more of a friend type relationship than a mother-daughter relationship with Eva. If the end goal is always to find a husband then I wonder what other "unspoken" things Monica taught her daughter about keeping a husband.  Is it just me or does the relationship seem to have a "highly sexualized" untone to it? Monica sends her daughter extremely revealing dresses, constantly keeps after Eva about her appearance and what she wears. In the next book she talked with Eva about how her actions could have consequences if she married a man like Gideon (...you are an assest...make sure you keep it that way...I am paraphrasing but the sentiment is there).  Other than holding Eva after she had a melt down about Nathan and the video tapes and blackmail thing when has Monica ever acted like a mother? When has Monica ever just hugged her daughter or offered he any kind of unconditonal support? What do you think? What does everyone think?
  2. Gideon's lack of information may be considered a lie by omission of sorts. It has caused no end of problems for these two.  I really hope that Gideon eventually lets his guard down with Eva (in future books) because if he can't, I don't see how there could be any real hope for these two.
  3. That's ok, I read like a turtle so by the time you get your book and finish reading it, I will just about have finished reading my book. So in the end it all works out.
  4. Ciao Gabri, You bring up a good point. I found it highly unusual that Gideon talked to Eva during the Kingman Vodka meeting. If anything Eva was nothing more than an entry level assistant and as such I don't think that a person with her title would have been actively included in the open discussions. I think that someone with her title probably would have been taking notes or assisting her boss with his presentation or discussion with the "higher ups". The fact that Gideon included Eva from the very beginning is very interesting. Whether he included her because he wanted to spend more time with her or that he wanted to change patterns I am not sure that we the readers will ever know. What does everyone think?
  5. Hi Julie54, I would only think that Gideon would find it a HUGE turn on, that Eva was such a challenge! Gideon built his empire by not taking "no" for an answer, just imagine what a little (or alot!!) sexual chemistry, with a very beautiful woman would do to man like Gideon. It is a wonder that he would be able to even form a sentence let alone have an entire conversation. Perhaps Gideon's brain fried a little every time he was near Eva. Hmm, one can only wonder...
  6. Hi Sscrph, That's an incredibly astute observation. Think about the dress that Monica sent Eva for the advocacy dinner...holy cow! How many mothers would send their daughters dresses like that?Â
  7. Hi Ript, I was wondering that too. Monica had been married three times. Barker was her first husband (where they lived, who knows?) but there was a second marriage before Stanton, so what I wonder is if Monica moved Eva around during her early years (while she was busy getting married and divorced). I wonder what Monica considered "home base". If one of her marriages didn't work out, where would Monica go to regroup? Would she stay in the state that she had been living in while she was married or would she pick up and move back to her home state? What do you think? What does everyone think?
  8. Hi Sscrph, I think that Victor did miss his daughter too. I could only imagine that after having his daughter around him for four years, it would have been hard for Victor to see his daughter move across the country (especially when he may not have had that much contact with Eva before she came to live with him). The jury is out on how much contact Victor may have had with his daughter before she went to live with him. What do you think?
  9. Ciao Gabri, I was thinking about what you said about Eva and her fashion choices and something struck me. Eva is a very sexual person internally and externally. Most women wouldn't wear garters with stockings. The garters can be uncomfortable and the lines may show through the clothing (depending on what they would wear).  I think that if we polled the women of this forum, I think that many would say that if they had to wear stockings, they would most likely choose the convenience of pantyhose. The reference of garters and stockings are usually reserved for sexy or romantic evenings. Perhaps this is a North American thing, perhaps not. What do you think? What does everyone think?
  10. Hi Julie54, I agree the detective is definately out to make a name for herself. I just don't know if she will be able to convince a DA to take on prosecuting Gideon Cross. If the man/woman has half a brain he/she wouldn't touch a case like this with a ten foot pole.Â
  11. That's not what Sylvia said. Let all the forum members go back and read for themselves what exactly Sylvia said. She said it was a concern or a possibility. Sylvia was having that discussion with me, not you. Do not put your two cents into this. Each forum member can decide for themselves how exactly this would have played out. You are taking one or two postings out of context.  Please, to the forum members, if anyone cares about what went on, go back for yourselves and read the entire thread.  The questions and comments that I made will make more sense. Thank you.Â
  12. Hi everyone, Many people have been pondering what Gideon's middle name might be or even if he has one. So if we the readers could choose, what middle name would you give Gideon Cross?
  13. Hi Donnad, I don't think that Elizabeth Vidal would call her son before going over to his house. I think that if Gideon got any advance warning that his mother wanted to come over for a visit, he would have made himself scarce or made excuses as to why his mother couldn't come by for a visit.  If Gideon hated is mother as much as many people have suggested, then it wouldn't make sense that Gideon would entertain visits from his mother. Could it be that the only way Elizabeth Vidal got to visit her son was by ambushing him either at home or at work? What does everyone else think?
  14. Hi MrsCrossfire, I think that may be an accurate assessment of the facts. Quite frankly I couldn't see Gideon inviting his mother over for tea or to watch a football game.Â
  15. Hi KiMa You make a very keen observation. I agree that everything may not be as it seems. In order to have all the facts we will have to wait until June 4th to come to a final decision. I think that the good detective is a liar. I don't believe a word that comes out of her mouth. Again we will have to wait and see.Â
  16.  Hi Sscrph, Thanks for the explanation. Oh boy, by the time his book is released we will all be able to recite this entire book chapter and verse. Â
  17. Hi everyone, I have been sitting and reading everyone's postings and I would hope that everyone gets the chance (and maybe the courage) to contribute to the chapter a day reread. In all of the past postings you ladies have come with such great theories all independently of one another. I really hope that continues until the release of the next book.  So many of you ladies have been courageous in coming up with various theories and incredibly astute in your observations while reading the books. It has really enriched this entire forum! I hope everyone keeps their independent voice and keeps postings their great observations during this process. Thanks.
  18. Hi Sscrph, Am I missing something. I don't get what the significance of whether it would be a holiday or not would be? Could you please explain. Thanks.
  19. Hi MrsCrossfire, You are too funny! Â
  20. Hi Julie54, I agree with you about Elizabeth's colouring. I have been saying it from the beginning. What I still don't get is what does that have to do with brunettes? I could see Gideon subconsciously punishing Corinne because she looks like his mother, but the rest of it doesn't make sense. I am starting to think that the whole hair colour thing (brunettes) is all just a distraction. What do you think? What does everyone think?
  21. I'll bring the baked goods and come June 4th I may be eating a little crow too... Theories, theories, all those pesky theories...Â
  22. Hi Everyone, All this mention has been made of Gideon and the elevator and I could just see Gideon riding up and down the elevator waiting for Eva to show up and not letting any other people on while waiting. Could it be that Gideon was acting like a "love-sick" school boy who had a crush on a girl? What does everyone think?
  23. Hi Sscrph, You are jumping the gun girl!  That is however a great line!!!Â
