Hi Nancy, Your scenario is plausible. I could see that if Sam was spurned by Brett and his band, that he could try and seek revenge. I could also see Christopher Jr. getting wind of the tape and then sending Sam off in a different direction. It is all plausible.  Your mention of Gideon's appology to Deanna reminded me of something once said in a biblical movie; something to the effect of your serpent's tongue has hardened my heart. It seems that in this case, Gideon's kind words have soothed Deanna's heart and lessened her wrath.Â

Hi MicheleWV, You are so right. Eva is playing subtle games with Brett (I didn't pick up on it). I can also see Brett wanting to get Eva back and show up Gideon. How true! I am sure that his male pride got hurt during that fight when the woman that he used to sleep with, wound up with the guy who kicked his behind. Good observation! Thank you.Â

Hi Barb, I live in Canada, so I am posting late. I have had several critically ill relatives and have had to deal with hospital vigils and stuff, but God has been very merciful and two relatives thus far have pulled through. I feel very blessed and am grateful for this.  I usually see patients in the afternoon but have taken time off because of family illnesses. I used to post in the evenings but my schedule got turned upside down (which is ok), but everything is slowly returning back to normal.  Today is also Canada Day, which means other than hospital visits, it is a holiday for my fellow Canadians. Happy Canada Day to all of my Canadian counterparts. Â

Hi Agoodbook, I think that the hurt that Gideon feels runs very deep. His mother hurt him in the most profound way when she didn't believe him about the abuse. To make matters worse, Elizabeth Vidal served her son up on a silver platter to the abuser. I don't think that is something that Gideon could forget or forgive easily. Those are just my thoughts . What does everyone think?

Hi  Agoodbook, You make some really interesting points about what Brett was hoping to get out of the situation if he did indeed know about the se* tape. I hope they don't meet up in San Diego. If Brett has a heart, I hope he finds someone else he can actually love, but as for Eva...that ship has sailed.Â

Hi Sscrph, It is all good. The subject of Corinne is well balanced. We have those who believe she is mentally ill and those who think that she was manipulative. I just hope that we get our answers sooner rather than later.Â

I wonder if Gideon and Arnoldo are really good friends or whether they are more acquaintance type of friends. I hope that we get more answers with the next book.Â

Hi Julie, You just said what I was thinking so well. Eva and Brett were never in a relationship. It was just se* for Brett (no dating etc.).  You make a good point about how Brett might feel knowing that he was videotaped. It will be interesting to see whether Brett about the se* tape or not.  Â

 Hi Nancy, I have read your comments and your theories are plausible. I can see where you are coming from and it is important to have a balanced perspective when dealing with a subject. I am glad that you are willing to take up for Brett. It helps to make for a balanced forum.  I am always up for a spirited debate! Your point about Brett having convinced him that he was in love with Eva in a way proves my point. Brett never said that he loved Eva (at least we don’t have any documented written evidence thus far ). Brett never even treated Eva with common courtesy or respect. In fact we the readers get the impression of just the opposite which is evidenced by what Eva said to Brett about why she finally decided that she had had enough. Brett was gossiping to one of his mates about what a good lay Eva was (which in effect was labeling Eva as nothing more than a wh*re). The fact that Brett could say something so inappropriately intimate to a woman that he hasn’t seen in years is disrespectful of Eva as a human being. When someone walks out of a relationship; all favours, suggestions and intimations of personal intimacies are revoked. Brett never said that he missed Eva’s laughter or the way she smiled or how she was compassionate with people. The only thing that Brett ever referenced was se* and he didn’t even reference whether it was pleasurable for Eva. The only person that Brett talked about or cared about was Brett. Brett went straight to se* and nothing else. In my book, that person isn’t entitled to pass GO and collect $200 (as the Monopoly saying goes).  Now as for the Gideon thing, we are talking about two separate issues. Eva wasn’t entertaining a relationship with Brett. She was entertaining a relationship with Gideon. At the end of the day, Eva was the one who would ultimately decide if she was going to be in a relationship and how she was going to be treated (which was corrected when Eva no longer was willing to entertain just a se*ual arrangement with Gideon).  What Gideon did was not right, but Eva ultimately corrected that situation with Gideon.   It is exactly like you said; Brett has fame, fortune and all the se* that he can want, I am sure that this rock star will find someone else soon enough.Â

Hi Julie, It is apparent that something very serious happened in that library (quiet little alarm bells going off during that scene). I agree that Elizabeth Vidal was horribly neglectful! I hope that we get some answers in the next book.Â

Hi everyone, I was thinking about the possible scenarios and theories that everyone has posted and I was wondering how everyone would feel about creating a working theory model (a theory that would take into account as many possibilities or explanations as possible). Everyone can add as much or as little as they like. Everyone can suggest theories or explanations for questions that may have been posted. People can feel free to add questions to the working theory or provide working answers.  I have posted this in another thread but I thought that it might be nice for those who might like to continue the discussion.  There have been forum members who have suggested that Monica/Clancy may have been responsible for covering up Nathan’s murder. With that thought in mind; I had a few questions myself: We know for sure that Gideon killed Nathan because Sylvia told us….but what she hasn’t revealed is how the scenario played out. We know for sure that there were 10 days between Nathan attempting to blackmail Gideon, Monica and Stanton and him winding up dead. We know for sure that Nathan was murdered. We know for sure that Monica has a penchant for bugging and having her daughter tracked/trailed (i.e. through security guards, a bugging device in her compact mirror and her watch).  What we don’t for sure or could it be: Could Monica have had Gideon tailed to monitor his movements? Could Monica have been planning Nathan’s murder but Gideon beat him to the punch? Could Monica have arrived after Gideon murdered Nathan and therefore would not have needed to pay off his blackmail demands or wouldn’t need to kill Nathan because he was already dead?  What we also know for sure about Monica is: Monica is absolutely thrilled about Gideon and Eva’s relationship. She has been counseling her daughter about how to keep a relationship with a man like Gideon. Monica has done everything in her power to ensure that Eva’s “social reputation†has remained intact. Money has always been very important to a woman like Monica.  So: Could Monica be responsible for the “cover-up†of Nathan’s murder because she realizes how much Gideon had risked for her daughter?  The only questions I keep coming back to are: If each of these characters worked independently of one another then how did everything happen on that one particular day? Why did everyone: Monica, Gideon and Stanton choose that day to pay off the blackmail demands and kill Nathan?  I have given one scenario for Monica and questions which I cannot account for. Everyone feel free to jump in and add or delete as you wish. If you don’t think that a question is relevant please explain your reasoning so everyone can follow along.  Ok, everyone feel free to jump in and add or detract. Â

Hi Nancy, Those suits are absolutely spectacular though!!! I saw an interview done on CNN about some of the world's most famous tailors and this was included in the documentary. If someone had endless sums of cash, why not go for a suit like that?Â

Hi Mam2e & Julie, Could it be that Hugh saw Gideon initially with an assistant present or with some household staff present during the therapy? It is normal for a child to see a therapist alone (depending on the age) but usually said parent that is takig the child for therapy is sitting just outside of the doctor's room. They aren't in a "waiting room" down the hall or separated from the child by a mater of distance.  If the child decides to end the session all they have to do is open the door and know that their parent is waiting right outside of the door for them. It can help the child to feel more comfortable if they are uncomfortable with strangers.  From the way that Sylvia described the scenario, it seems like Elizabeth Vidal was separated from Gideon by a great distance. I suspect that Gideon "received his sessions" in the family library (from something Eva had said during her encounter with Gideon at the Garden Party) whereas Elizabeth must have had her sessions elsewhere. The rooms in that home were separated by large and long hallways, so a pedophile could take full advantage of a situation like that. What do you think? What does everyone think?

Good morning Mam2e, I can see where you are coming from. I haven't been pregnant before so I wouldn't know what the exact symptoms of pregnancy are (i.e. I haven't personally experienced them for myself). I think that Corinne really was that mentall unwell and that is why she had been behaving the way she had. I can hardly wait to see how Sylvia wraps up this ending storyline. Oh please let this storyline end soon!
