Hi Rogue, I read your comments and you have given me a lot to think about. I just had one question though; when Brett kissed Eva, he pursued her, Eva tried to get away from Brett. She knew that he wasn't good for her. Eva kept trying to back up and avoid Brett but he lunged forward and caught her by the arms (thereby removing her ability to walk away from him). Brett also initiated the kiss.  You are correct, Eva kissed him back. What I was wondering was but for the fact that Brett chased, grabbed and kissed Eva, do you think that under normal circumstances, Eva would have initiated a kiss with Brett or would have even stopped to catch up and shoot the breeze with Brett given her past?Â

Hi Jennpenn926, I agree that Eva needs to toss Brett in the discard pile. A good smack across the chops might make Brett realize that Eva is no longer interested.  Brett might also be completely floored by the news that Gideon and Eva are now married. Oh wouldn't it be wonderful to see his reaction when he finds out that little bit of news? Â

Hi Rogue, You make a good point about Eva's needing to see Brett's reaction to her questions. For Eva it might be key in her being able to determine whether someone is lying or not.Â

Hi Claudine, Did you see the study on the effects of marijuana and the triggering of mental illness in adolescents? There have also been studies between marijuana use and the triggering of schizophrenia? The results are just staggering!  It has something to do (or so they think) with the THC levels. Marijuana use in the 60's had concentration levels of between 3-6% whereas with today's marijuana has THC levels of between 13-25%. Wow! Let me know how your study goes.

 Hi Sharonm745, I agree with you. I don't see what Brett did as an homage to his and Eva's past love. I found the video incredibly graphic and immature in nature. It is almost like a teenaged boy thought up the concept. I know that artists have a lot of say in a video's concept and and execution. So how much control did Brett have over the video's concept and making of the video?  I am on sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to see how this part of the storyline plays out. Right now I don't see Brett as anything more than an arrogant and immature snot would doesn't think of anyone else but himself. How could he if he allowed the video to be released?

 Hi Xfire, I think that for me, I would have hoped that Brett would have grown and matured as an individual regardless of what his circumstances were when he was younger. It could be that Eva may have liked to be risque when she was younger, but do you think that Eva would want the world to know about her risque behaviour?  I would hope that life would have taught him compassion, understanding, kindness and most importantly self-awareness. The release of that video and the graphic nature of that video is so over-the-top that I have to wonder if Brett learned anything at all. What do you think?

Hi Jennpenn926, I agree with you. That video makes Eva look really bad! I think the question that remains is if Brett was behind the whole thing or if he was also in the dark. A thought just came to me. When the band members were talking about making the video, who came up with the concept of "Golden"? I think the answer to that question will say a lot. What do you think?

  Hi MicheleWV, I agree with you. Gideon had absolutely no business going to the hospital. Your theories about Megumi are intriguing. I never thought that she could possibly be a plant. My question would be: who would be behind planting Megumi in that office? What would they hope to gain by spying on Eva? Your comments about Deanna not touching Gideon are HILLARIOUS!!!   I wonder how Gideon got his mom’s engagement ring. Thus far my thought is that he inherited the ring upon turning legal age but I could be wrong. Your link between Cary’s tolerating Tatiana’s bad behaviour and his past experiences with his mom is great! I never stopped to think about that in that way. Great points! I agree I like Ireland too! The thought about Victor having more kids is just too delicious for words!! Your comments about Victor are HILLARIOUS too!!!     Great thoughts Michele! Thanks for sharing them!Â

Hi Jennpenn926, I agree with you completely. There is no excuse for ever harming a child! What boggles my mind is the person who thinks that they can single-handedly handle a situation like this themselves. I can understand a person wanting to rescue a child and wanting to do something good, but those good intentions can end up causing far more harm!  Yes! Physically intervening and stopping an abuse in progress is Great!! That isn't the only step though. A person has to take the next step and contact the police or CPS. So many people think that if they turn a blind eye that the situation will go away and that the child will eventually forget about the incident(s), but what some people don't realize is that children don't know how to process what has happened to them and often end up acting out, etc. because they can't deal with all of the experiences and emotions.Â

Hi Sscrph, I hope what you said is written in the next book. I just keep thinking of "reporters" from website and news outlets like "TM*" and I couldn't imagine any one of them agreeing to something like that. I guess we will see what happens in the next two books. Â

Hi Sscrph, I would think that Gideon would offer one of his airplanes for Eva and Cary to use. I wouldn't think that Gideon would feel comfortable about Eva flying commercial. He wouldn't be able to ensure Eva's safety as effectively as he could if she used one of his planes. Just a thought. What do you think?Â

Hi Fayeth, It was my understanding as well that Gideon was arranging, or in the process of trying to make a deal with Deanna, about her getting the exclusive rights to Gideon and Eva's upcoming wedding nuptials. Thus far no one knows that Gideon and Eva are married and I think that they intend on keeping it that way.Â

Hi Peachies & Everyone, I just wanted to clarify that what I meant by stating the "Vidal's" was; Elizabeth Vidal, Christopher Sr. Vidal and Ireland Vidal. I know that you ladies know the books so much better than I do, because you have all read the books so many times (and listened on audio, etc.), could you please let me know on which pages exactly and which books exactly it states that Elizabeth, Ireland and Christopher Sr. Vidal attended the same charity events that Gideon and Eva did. Thanks in advance.

Hi Sharon745, Thank you for your comments. I agree that there were a lot of false beliefs. What gets me is the fact, that these were repeatedly abused by this "teacher" and the families were complaining left, right and centre (to the Board of Education and to the Principal), but no one thought to go to the police. What's worse is that NO ONE said a word to anyone else to warn them about what was going on!!! Which means that this person had unfettered access to fresh potential victims every year!!  I don't know about you, but I don't think that I would be feeling too charitable towards any parent who didn't go to the police or call CPS or at least warn me before I sent my son or daughter to that school. The "teacher" was finally removed after 30 plus years and now does administrative work for the Board of Education, but his removal from the class room doesn't undo all of the harm that he did to all of those victims.  Thank you for the discussion.  GiGi

Hi Gabri, Thank you for your comments. I agree with you completely. I think that those who openly and actively knew about the abuse and didn't do something about it (like call the police or CPS or Children's Aid in Canada) are just as responsible as the pedophile.  They knew what the problem was and who the problem was and still their misguided attempts to look after the problem themselves and the children failed miserably! At some point, people have to go beyond themselves and get the proper authorities involved. Everytime a person, child, family, etc. makes a complaint about a pedophile to the police or CPS, etc., then a paper trail is created and a file is created on a person and a school, etc.. Those documents can never be erased. So each subsequent complaint that is made, gets added to the file and even if something cannot be done at the time the complaint is made, doesn't mean that person gets off scott free.  It may take a while and more victims may have to come forward but people like this can be stopped. All we need is courage. Thanks for the discussion.  GiGi
