I think Corrine's real target audience for the book isn't Gideon. It's Eva, who was crazy jealous when the women first met and who Corrine probably thinks still neurotic about it. When she signed the book contract she probably fooled herself into thinking the book will make Eva pull another one of her runners. Think about it, especially if she exaggerates in the book how she broke the engagement not Gideon. Plays up the fact (lie, really) that if he had his way originally, the two of them would now be married. I hope Gideon's talk with her at the restaurant made her change her mind. What's the good in driving Eva away if the book also drives Gideon away? Or at the least maybe Gideon managed to scare Corrine, because he threatened to make her sorry if she went through with it. I bet that was the first time she ever heard him threaten her. I hope it turns out to be the last time he ever saw her left at the table when he walked out on her.

Im trying to think of a way Sylvia can finally get rid of Corinne lol. Now that Giroux appears to be divorcing her ;he cant take her back to France which would have been fine with Eva and alot of forum members!!! Now my only hope is that she will hook up with Brett and she will escort him on a worldwide tour with Sixth Ninths!!! . :)

arash nailed it.. He said you used to poke at him a couple times a week....he said to Gideon you may be aware of whats going on but your NOT paying attention. Gideon even makes a comment to himself about Landon once again looking over at his building but Gideon had his back turned.

 

Gideon also said to himself he missed how simple it was to be focused on work and not everything else.

I didnt like Gideon when in Chapter 15 he noted that things had been alot simpler before Eva when he only focussed on work and nothing else. I thought of this as bittersweet because even though it is true to a certain extent I dont think the type of life Gideon had before Eva could actually be called a life. Working all day with a couple of one night stands during the week ; estranged from his family with only a few close friends and hiding behind the global magnate image. What he has with Eva is real and relationships are complicated especially theirs since they have so many outside forces pulling at both of them like gravity. Even Dr. Travis noted that Eva may have been yearning for a simple relationship when she was thinking about Brett as opposed to the complicated one she had with Gideon. But as Eva says , she doesn't know how to walk away and she doesn't want to and neither does Gideon. By chapter 19 Gideon is overwhelmed by just how much of his life Eva had come to fill and he is reeling from the loss. These two are just halves of the same whole and need to keep moving forward despite the obstacles...

I dont think Gideon could have been more clear than in Chapter 7 of CBY when he told Corinne that even if they were together he would have eventually found Eva and he would have left her to be with Eva.I cant see any other way that Gideon could have put her down; that was extremely blunt and to the point. Gideon is NOT sending mixed signals. Corinne is in denial and she has been since she came back to New York. This supposed tell-all book is such a pathetic stunt on her part . It makes her look so desperate and IMO ruins her chances with some other eligible single gazillionaire. Who would want to be with someone that wanted someone else and shouted it from the rooftops for all to hear...Giroux certainly didn't. He dumped her too.

I was just thinking of that. I still have so unanswered questions from the past 3 books too. 

 

What was Corrine doing that day at Crossfire when Gideon fought Nathan?

Eva mentioned writing a thesis in the first book but hasn't talked about her education since. Something I've been thinking about since she talks about her career so much.

Of course, Gid's comment to Elizabeth at the garden party.

And pretty much everything about Anne. 

 

I'm afraid the 5th book will have to pretty long for me to get all my answers and my HEA.

Corinne showed up at the Crossfire that day because she saw Gideon run after Eva at the fund raiser and she knew that he never previously acted that way with women. She knew Gideon was truly in love with Eva and she was desperate to break that connection. She was just popping in to see Gideon hoping they could do lunch but even at this point he had begun pushing her aside knowing it would upset Eva so he never saw her and after that he had his hands full with Nathan. That is why Angus took her home because he was waiting for Gideon to take him to lunch but he never went due to his altercation with Nathan...Corinne was in denial at this point...

After seeing how detailed Eva was when she did research for Gideon (when she was trying to get ahead of Deanna) I find it hard to believe that Eva didn't realize that Landon was a big competitor of Gideon's.  She might not know his family's history with G. Cross but she would know all of Lancorp's competitors.  You have to have that information to prepare a decent campaign.  I might not share everything that happens at work with my husband/fiance/boyfriend but I would certainly mention to him that I have a job working on his main competitor for a certain product.  Why didn't Eva say something to Gideon before he even offered Mark a job?

 

I'm honestly upset with Eva in this book.

Certainly cant disagree with you there Sharon. Eva's research did in fact uncover that the GenTen was the major competitor of Phaze One in Chapter 12. Eva did have major concerns at this point thinking that she would be helping one of Gideon's competitors steal his market share and that made Eva feel guilty knowing how hard Gideon worked. That was also the day she was meeting with Brett so she pushed this issue aside for another day...it was just a matter of time before this issue came to the surface especially since Raul told Gideon that Eva had lunch with Ryan Landon. Eva was in denial about the entire career woman versus Mrs.Gideon Cross issue and Gideon offering Mark a job just brought the issue to the forefront. It came back to bite Eva in the arse...she couldnt be in denial any longer!!

We don't know a lot about the Vidal marriage. It could be that this revelation about the abuse was the straw that broke the camel's back. Lizzie is all about appearances. Maybe Chris just had enough.

I understand Eva being upset that Gideon hired Mark, but I am hoping in OWY we finally see her come to terms with why G did what he did. G cannot run to Eva with every problem. She already realized she couldn't work on that campaign. Maybe she is just too young to really get how much crap G has to deal with in one day and how he has to make snap decisions and doesn't have time to discuss everything. She has to cut him some slack here. Geez, he killed for her. Dealt with the tape for her. Even Cary living with them is something most men would never do. G isn't perfect by any means but the guy is trying. If, however, his fear of losing Eva was the catalyst to him opening up to Dr. P then it was all worth it. That scene plus Chris opening up to G are the 2 most powerful in the book to me.

You make a good point about us not knowing much about the Vidal marriage ...One of my unanswered questions from BTY is at the garden party when Gideon makes that curious statement to his mother about Carey...Gideon says " I thought you might like him " just remember he's Eva's friend mother and that makes him mine as well... So maybe Elizabeth wasnt always faithful to Chris Sr and the marriage is not truly a happy one ... What do you all think?

I can totally understand why Chris Sr would leave Elizabeth for not telling him about Gideon's abuse.

 

As he mentioned, he's never seen Gideon as a step-son but as much of a son as he sees Chris Jr.

 

That's a HUGE thing to keep from a parent. He took it as her not disclosing abuse about Chris Jr. or Ireland.

 

He may also be resentful on Gideon's behalf for Elizabeth not believing him.

 

He may have left to get some space or he may have left for good. Either way I can understand.

Hi GoshDarnit yes Chris Sr has really stepped up to the plate... I think his guilt over this will be hard to shake; and the betrayal by Elizabeth is huge but down the road I see a reconciliation as long as there is some type of acknowledgement on her part and amends made to Gideon and Eva. I think in the future they will sell the Vidal estate as it holds too many ugly memories for Gideon and now for themselves. I think Chris will not want to break up his family and at the very least he will stay with his wife for Ireland.

Corrine;   was Gideons first sex.. I think it was just that.. I also think the time of about 4 years was right about them together. age Im saying he was about 25 when he walked away from her.

when she went to his office giving it her all to have him take her back ,when he falt out said no she started talking about the book, she flat out said Im going make you remember you loved me.. the chic is fryed.

I knew Brett knew about the tape the whole time. I think he is a jerk for showing the band. and I love Gideon showed us his emotions when he thought Eva was with Brett. I liked how he made Eva see it too.

Hi agoodbook I am on my third read and I plan to pay particular attention to the Anne and Cary parts ...I know all of us on the forum love to love Cary but I am unfortunately leaning toward thinking he is seeing Anne as a shrink and/or fu$$ing her. If this is true I hope to God he continues to keep Eva's confidences as he always has . But even though Eva considers Carey a brother I do believe he is jealous of Gideon's place in her life. Eva is moving on and Carey is not. In fact he seems to be seriously backpedaling with his two relationships and possibly the baby. And I really dont think he should have agreed to live in the penthouse...Gideva could have arranged some other living situation for him. Most of us do not live with our brothers when we are married. I realize Eva and Carey support each other but they dont have to live together to do it. Eva needs to let go a little because she actually enables Carey and prevents him from living a "real life" independent of her and her financial means. Gideon and Eva need the alone time as a newly married couple. Gideon doesnt want to come home and see Eva relaxing on the couch with her best friend. He wants to come home to his wife waiting for him and I cant blame him. I just wonder how long Gideon will be able to keep his mouth shut...I feel a major battle brewing over this one. :(

just finished rereading CBY and I have a few concerns.page 223 "is that a threat, Anne?" Absolutely, "it's time to pay and your billions won't cover the debt". Wonder if she knows that Gideon threatened Hugh and that is why he killed himself. Hopefully Anne doesn't know about the abuse, that would really make her a whack job. She has to think;, she could lose everything, job, career etc. Now that Dr. Peterson knows what Hugh did, maybe he will have the Health community look into Anne's practice as Gideon hinted to on page 224.Don't think Brett is out of the picture yet..Chris Sr said that Brett and him agreed to do the Golden video over again. Christopher is not keen on this idea and the money needed to redo it. Brett still has some feelings for Eva.Have a awful feeling that Christopher will push himself on Eva, because he has seen the sex video and thinks that Eva will do anything with anyone. Maybe now Eva will be able to use her Krav Maga on someone....Break his nose etc.Loved, loved this book, even the sad parts, can't wait for OWY to come out. Sylvia mentioned after the holidays some time frame will be put into place. Noticed on her homepage at Sylviaday.com that OWY is not listed as coming soon.

Hi jmhope totally agree about Chris Jr trying to force himself on Eva ; i have a feeling Eva will use her Krav Maga on him but she will keep it a secret from Gideon...I just keep thinking OWY is going to have to be at least 500 pages to settle all the issues going on in this series ... We havent even got a hint as to Mommyca's backstory although I think that will be revealed when making the actual guest list for the wedding and if she decides to include her family... As I said at this point I dont believe 500 pages is enough. That was a very serious threat from Anne and I think Raul needs to watch her as closely as Clancy watched Nathan...

Gideon said Corrine used to sooth him so I dont think that he experimented  with that.  Corrine said the book was about proving to him that he loved her so could be one last desperate act to remind him and get him back or could be her letting go of him. Before all these,  Corinne was about to get back to New York, on a middle of divorce and planning on getting  Gideon back but Eva came to the picture.  So that ruined her plan. She was under the assumption that Gideon wasn't on a serious relationship since her and his preference  for brunettes was likely he was hung up on her makes her delusional. Then Gideon gave her a mixed signal when he tried to make a cover story regarding Nathans' death and even after that Corinne was still oblivious of the motive .. so she kind  of gotten crazy  .. Im sure she's allowed to get mad for getting used too and Gideon admitted he was guilty . I am not making excuse for her . Making jealous of Eva (which Eva handled very bad by by the way)  - I mean every woman who doesn't want to let go would do such thing as Eva said no one would  like to settle for less.  The woman was heartbroken, confuse , had a miscarriage (Im sure she doesn't know  - because she said , she and Giroux was trying for a baby for so long ) so all of these made her crazy but at one point (I hope) in book  5  she'll come into terms that she has no  chance to revive what she had with Gideon and out love for Gideon she would leave and maybe stop the book printing .  Eva shouldn't be hurt by Gideons' past relationship with Corrine or anyone and vice versa. They have to deal this jealousy at some point. This might sound crazy,   I think the book would give a light and glimpse on how was  Gideon back then. Gideon didn't sleep with Corinne  full night so she doesn't know about the nightmare .. only she probably  knew the man whose fathers' suicide made him aloof and untouchable. 

 

The difference about Corrine and Brett, Corrine was crazy, irrationally, blindly inlove with Gideon and still holding on.While Brett intentionally trying to used Eva for his own benefit - because no man whose  inlove with a  woman would want to show their sex tape to his bandmates  and to the world. Ruining Gideon was part of the prize.  

 

Yikes, we really need book  5. lol and  We should all be scared if Anne made a book  .. lol

At this point I do not believe the tell all will be published. I think it is possible Corinne may back out but more likely I think Gideon will move heaven and earth to stop it even as someone mentioned earlier; buying the publishing company...

Totally agree with your theory about Anne being Corrine's shrink. I think her plan all along was to drive Corrine to kill herself as payback for his role in making Hugh kill himself and payback for him using her sexually. She must have known Gideon's father killed himself when he was a kid because of how infamous the death was and she probably recognized his emotional problems were rooted in his father dying. What an evil way to screw him up even more by making him feel responsible for Corrine killing herself and an evil way to make the world think he's a monster to women just like Terry Lucas swears he is.

 

About Corrine coming back to New York, she already was calling Gideon daily from France before he met Eva. She already decided leave her husband and was about to fly to New York when Gideon told her over the phone he met someone, he had that phone call with her right after he left Eva at the advocacy center dinner. Corrine cancelled her flight but then a couple of weeks later she came back anyway. Or so Corrine claimed when she messed with Eva's mind the first time. My guess is the viral video of GidEva passionately arguing is what made Corrine decide to go for it go back to New York and start manipulating him in person instead of by phone. I noticed Captivated by You mentions that video of GidEva a few times.

Yes I agree that the viral video was the catalyst for Corinne to return to New York. She was probably shocked to see Gideon acting so passionately in a public setting she even mentions it at the end of CBY when Gideon confronts her about the tell all book. The Iceman certainly had thawed and Corinne saw what everyone else did ...the passionate connection between Gideva. That is when all the snakes starting coming out of their holes ; Deanna, Anne and of course Corinne.

All I can say is...

 

If someone gave me a tape of a person I loved and that tape didn't show them in the best light I would not want it shown to the world.  In fact, like Gideon, I would do everything in my power to get all the copies of the tape to destroy them.  Brett didn't do that.  He likes the tape and he wants to use it not.  My guess is the reason he wants to see Eva is because he knows her exhibitionist side and he thinks she will allow him to show the more explicit parts of the tape.  Gideon knows her exhibitionist side so he takes her behind two way mirrors where she can see the crowd but the crowd can't see her.  He doesn't tape her.

 

Sam was commissioned to record the band.  We don't know if he was requested to capture them having sex but he was commissioned to record the backstage activities.  The band knew what went on back stage. Brett and the whole band planned to make money when the tape was released.  Sam gave Brett a heads up but Brett already had a copy of the tape. 

 

I know a lot of people are Team Brett but I'm not one of them.

In EWY Sam Yimarra is described at the band's wannabe videographer. I dont think he was commissioned by 6/9 to do anything he was basically just a groupie/videographer/voyeur getting off on filming people fu$$ing and trying to fit in . Now the fact that 6/9 has made it big gives him the opportunity to reap financial gain. Brett Kline thought the existence of the video would break up Gideva and when that didnt work he wants to use the tape as a publicity stunt for 6/9 but at the same time turn the knife in Gideon. He wins both ways. The loser in all this is Eva because that video is the ultimate testament to the girl she was before ; a girl she desperately wants to forget. Hopefully Gideon was successful in destroying all the copies.... And I'm sure that Arse Christopher Jr has watched it ...he wants to turn the knife in Gideon too:(.

Intriguing about Carey and Anne. I was thinking about how she was in the building w/ a tenant and that makes sense. 

 

And no to Arnoldo and Corrine for me. If she is with Arnoldo then that means she will still be around GidEva indefinitely and I just don't ever see her being fully okay with not being with Gideon. I wouldn't want her around anyway.

 

I want to know more about Graves and Monica in the next book. I feel like they would have some very interesting back stories that could help me better understand them. My heart dropped when Graves and Eva spoke. I was just waiting for her to say something horrible the case.

Gcrossfire I believe you may have something there about Carey and Anne omg as I said earlier she is alot more dangerous than even Gideon suspects and if this is true about Carey she has penetrated the inner circle and is probably devious enough to get her hands on keys and such...in my book she is definitely first on the list for Eva's Krav Maga...

The discussion about Chris and Liz talking about the abuse is in chapter 9 where Eva and Gideon are having pizza and she asks him why he never told Chris about the abuse himself and he replies that his mother told Chris because he heard them discussing it at the dinner table  one night.

 

I've heard a few people saying that Corrine's book will talk about their Kinky sex life but I don't think that he had that kind of sex life with her at all. I think he started experimenting with kinky stuff after she broke off the engagement. He expresses that Corrine had always soothed him which stems from his 'mommy issues' based on how he pointed out that she dresses the same as his mother. I doubt that he would have been rough with her during sex or passionate the way he was with Eva in Bryant Park in book 1.

Totally agree with this linda I do not think he had kinky sex with Corinne either ; to quote another famous bestseller I think it was very "vanilla" with those two... . ;)

Yes I do not believe that Anne knows about Hugh; her vendetta against Gideon is completely due to the nature of their kinky sexual relationship and him dumping her... She is completely mad at this point and dangerous... I actually think Gideon is underestimating what she is capable of...

Hi Ladies I have just finished my second read and am ready to blog so here are my "thoughts uncensored" to quote Eva lol:

I think we should have known it was going to be a wild ride after we read those first three chapters ... What I didnt like right from the start was Eva stating her confusion about Brett ....really how did she expect Gideon to react ...but then Gideon had to go and open his big mouth about clearing up Corinne's confusion...really how did he expect Eva to react...I am rarely mad at Gideon but I was then. Lol

Basically I did not like the first three chapters so much although one bright spot was the introduction of the new character Arash ; what a breath of fresh air and I loved seeing Gideon getting together with his buddies which I think he should do more often to alleviate his Eva obsession a bit lol...

Now the San Diego trip was a pleasant surprise!!! I loved how Sylvia teased us with Brett and his backstage blonde making us think omg what is Eva doing when alas it was the look alike. I love when Gideon first realized it wasn't Eva's low husky laugh and I loved how he described the real Eva as she walked backstage as the most beautiful woman he'd ever seen with her effortless beauty and sexuality

I loved the fact that Gideon is going to demolish Pete's 69th St bar...he knows Eva wants to forget the girl she was back then so it will serve 2 purposes for Gideon : eradicating the memory of Brett Kline and Eva's wild days...loved when Eva showed up at Gideon's hotel and her introduction to Arash; I think this is one of only a few lighthearted moments in the entire book...

I loved how Gideon dealt with Corinne in Chapter 7 finally with the firm detached hand she deserves...I was irritated when Corinne picked up Eva's photo off Gideon's desk; I thought that was rather rude and forward of her but I loved when Gideon told her they could never be friends and that was the last time they would speak...little did he know the Bitc$ had other plans... Omg I cant believe how much I hate Corinne the forum has always hated her and we were 100 percent right on that ladies...

I have to admit I was also on team Brett along with Rogue so all I can say to that is to quote Gideon and "take the hit" lol...

I loved when Eva and Carey discussed her new name and they both think that Eva Cross sounds "kick-Arse". I do too!!!

I loved when Gideon bought the NC beach house for his wife but I especially loved when Eva understood the significance of Geoffrey Cross' pen without Gideon having to tell her... Yes they just "get" each other...

Of course the highlight of the book had to be the night out at the Starlight Club and Gideon serenading Eva ; I also think Gideon was in competition with Brett here showing Eva that he in fact could carry a tune and consequently turn her on!!!

Loved when Gideon met with Clancey wanting him to back off and he gave him the line about some men need to be put down like rabid dogs...

Loved when Gideon was jealous of the interior designer...it was so sad to hear Gideon agonize over how broken he is that he cant even sleep with his wife like who the would want a separate bedroom married to a babe like Eva...

All of the baby references... Is Sylvia messing with us?? But it is sad that Gideon questions whether Eva would even want a child with him since he is so fu$$ed up...

Oh and I have a theory about Detective Graves; when you read that meeting between her and Eva again Detective Graves sort of freaks when Eva grabs her arm...Could Graves possibly be an abuse/rape victim herself? Perhaps that is why she seems to be on Team Gideva and I think she wants invited to the wedding so she can hit on Victor...

Loved the overnight with Ireland at Gideva's penthouse; they are all so cute together and I love when Gideon experiences normalcy...

Thats what I thought at first too but when I re read it I thought it may be something else...

Carey may be thinking nursery, but, as I recall, Gideon was thinking the room would be a great place for some "playground" equipment".

Just finished reading CBY and I really loved it!!! My eyes are really tired though.Who knew that Gideon could sing?!Glad to see that most of our theories were right. We were right about Brett knowing about the sex tape, That Clancy and his brother were behind the murder cover up. Buying the house in NC and many others.Can't believe that Corrine want to write a tell all. Hopefully she will get what she deserves in the end; along with Deanna and Anne.Eva had a right to be furious with Gideon for offering a job to Mark, but he was correct with Lancorp trying to get to him through Eva. If something goes wrong with the promotion with the product, Lancorp could always say that Gideon was behind it and that Eva was the one that leaked any info.Sylvia as always you never dissapoint. Can't wait for OWY, hopefully within 6 months!! But I will be sad to say goodbye to Eva and Gideon.In 5 questions for Sylvia, she said that Gideon was a Virgo (8/23 - 9/23) he had his birthday during this book, and Eva was an Aquarius (1/20 - 02/18)Loved, loved this book, can't wait to hear what everyone else thinks.

OMG me too.  I'm still sitting here trying to figure out how I feel about everything that happened.  The only thing I can say positively is that Sylvia is a great writer.
