  1. Chapter 10:

This is a small chapter, but still my favorite in the entire book! Mainly because of the karaoke scene, with Gideon singing "hanging by a moment" (love that song). That man has to realize that he is one of the most romantic man ever!

I think it's great that Eva dares to sing, even though she knew how she would sound. I liked Eva admitting her own stubbornness by working with G, since that is what I think it is...

I don't get tired of Gideon saying "I love you"

She knew G was up to something when he left that Saturday (to meet Brett), and she was right.

The one thing I didn't like is Carys whining behaviour. He should show more gratitude & humbleness towards Gideon, and stop being such a brat... I know he has a history, but that is no excuse for behaving without manners.

    Two questions....

How soundproof can a limo really be? ;) (what Angus must hear lol)

And what did E need her phone for (curious)?

It is very busy days with Christmas only two days away, and a lot of preparations to do. So I haven't been able to read much.

I want to thank you all for including me here, and I wish you all a very merry Christmas! May you all have a jolly holiday

I think Eva was suspicious of Gideon when he went out that day so she tracked his phone and of course she would see that he went to his office so it really must have been a business matter that he left her for...

  2. I still don't understand ....if Mark G. leaves why does Eva lose her job? Couldn't she be the assistant to the new Jr. Accounts Manager? Someone has to take his place and I don't see a problem with Eva being that person's assistant....

Yes Im not sure I quite understand that either...but I think a short term solution that would work for everyone would be that Mark stay at Waters, Field, and Leaman and Eva can switch out with Will for the Landon campaign only...That being said I love Gideon but he really did f-up spectacularly as Eva said ... There is so much unnecessary angst here. All Gideon had to do was tell Eva about the family feud and ask her to take a back seat on that campaign for her protection and his piece of mind... It's just so sad.

  3. Chapter 9

I love Angus, the sweetest man that he is. I would really like to read his POV of Gideon growing up. He has a great relationship with Gideon, and it seems like G trust Angus and values his opinion.

Gideons description of his love for Eva is beautiful â¤ï¸And the part when he crawls into her arms after the nightmare, and letting her taking care of him... I just thought "YES- finally" Loved that he sold the fu** pad hotel.

His nightmares are devastating, my stomach tightened.

I did not like that Eva said that she wouldn't push him this early in the relationship, but did it anyway. We also know that she pushes him at the end of the book. I know she means well, but it could also backfire by wrecking their relationship or that he won't talk about it at all. It is important that G does this in his own pace, she of all people should know that, and repect that (reminding myself that it is still fictional lol).

I think a part of him loves the fact that Eva is literally facing all of his demons, makes him proud and perhaps a bit touched. At the same time it scares him, she does something that he has not been able to do for himself, and he looses his control when she is doing the talking. He doesn't have control of the consequenses either. A part of him gets pis*ed off when she stands up for him, he is used to handle things on his own, fighting his own battles, and his control issues plays a big part in this too... What do you think?

Yes Ann and his need to control the outcome of situations is what brings about the separation at the end of the book... Gideon was taking the right approach with Eva by being patient and letting her come to her own decision about working with him; but the threat from Landon spurred him to take a quicker approach and he acted rashly not with his usual planning and deliberation. He knew how much Eva loved her job and the fact that she would lose it if he hired Mark. His need to control the outcome of situations resulted in losing Eva. I have to admit in alot of this book I dont like Eva but I cant blame her at the end...I can see how she cannot fathom how Gideon could do this to her; he deliberately put her out of a job she loved ; to protect her yes; but that doesnt make it right. Eva's job defined her and gave her an identity beyond Gideon's fiancee. Gideon was wrong in every way no matter if his heart was in the right place...

  4. I liked how Gideon has fond memories of Eva's apartment and probably won't lease it out again. Liked how he could not wait and put his hands, mouth and fingers on or in her....I was wondering what he meant by "not just because of who she was...?He did make a point that Megumi was sending mixed signals to the guy. Too bad we never found out who he was, I guess it wasn't Christopher. G made another point by saying not to confront the guy herself and to use Raul from now on, Eva has to beginning thinking of them as MARRIED and that Raul works for her too now.. and when he explained everything to her, Eva did seem to see Gideon's point.Loved the phrase "if I have to start actually styling my hair every day, you're dealing with morning wood on your own"!!The fight with Christopher was interesting, all he thinks of is himself, not how his actions would affect others. He doens't care if the video would upset Eva. Liked it when G said "the point is supposed to be Six-Ninths, not my wife" Magdalene must have told Chris Jr about what they were doing in the Library in BTYCan't believe Corine ambushed G at his office again. He should tell security not to let her up anymore. I don't remember Eva every telling Corrine that they were getting married, only that G is in love with Eva in RIY, don't think they have had any contact since then.Glad that Dr. Peterson is pushing G to open up and let him help him, but G is fighting him all the way, thinking that the past can't be changed (which it can't) but the truth has to be faced as to what happened to him.

Hi jmhope Eva told Giroux that they were engaged and remember then Giroux must have told Corinne because he said to Eva "see how well she took the news..."

  5. Someone posted this in Amazon UK thats wasnt resolve in CBY  .. lol.. we will need  10 books or more for this.

Just saying ... I think there will be another book beyond 5 ...

  6. Does anyone think Anne Lucas is the one who prescribed the wrong drugs to Corinne and may be manipulating her still into writing the tell-all? I thought that's what Eva was onto in EWY when she realized Anne is a psychiatrist (not a psychologist). And perhaps Anne is Elizabeth Vidal's therapist too?

Welcome Purpleu; yes your thoughts are pretty much the general consensus of the forum and I think Eva will be the first to put it all together...

  7. Hi Everyone; I'm a little behind so here goes:

Chapter One***Even though this is one of my least favorite chapters in the book my most favorite part of it is of course the introduction of the new character Arash Madani... I think I may have said this before he is a breath of fresh air. :). :)) His interactions with Gideon definitely make me smile!

Of course like everyone else on the forum my least favorite part was Eva telling Gideon she was confused about Brett and Gideon striking back at Eva with the Corinne comment. I really thought that was a low blow on Gideon's part when Eva was just trying to be honest. Even though I did not like Gideon in that moment I loved him the moment before when Eva said she was broken and when she saw a crack she needed to fix it and Gideon thought to himself that he loved her just the way she was...Thats the Gideon we all love!

Chapter Two***My favorite part of this chapter was the use of the name Gideva when referring to Gideon and Eva .. We had been using this term on the forum for over a year and when it showed up in Sylvia's new book we were thrilled. :). ;)

I dont really have a least favorite part but I do agree with everyone else that it seems information gathering is only ok for Gideon and not for anyone else!!! Gideon probably had Eva's information before she even reached her gym that day they met at the Crossfire lol!!!

  8. I loved Eva's concern for Megumi. Eva is a loyal friend.

I didn't like that Monica wasn't told about the engagement like Victor was. That's such a big moment and that is still her mother. I understand a lot happened that night and and all but I didn't like it (I'm very close with my mother which is prob where my feelings come from). I do agree that Monica should've seen the ring the night before. And Gideon was wearing a ring too.

I agree with you xoxo Eva should have been more considerate of Monica... I know she is obsessive but she loves Eva ...Its funny after the night in the elevator how Eva comes to the realization that her mother was there for her unlike Gideon's mom...

  9. We don't know were G got the information about E, it could as easily been Raul who's been doing his investigations.

Loved your comment on the birth control :D

I liked the part when Gideon wants Eva to take Raul or Angus with her to look for Megumi. He is so protective of her, and he always puts safety first, but I guess that a man in his position got be.

I think it's sad when Eva thought that G never will see her as an equal in their marriage, and that it's based on G finances. I think that it's more correct that Eva don't feel that they are financially equal, rather than blamingGideon for it. I can't think of a single time he has used that against her (and she thought the same for herself too), instead I remember that I was impressend by the "contract" he presented to her when they got married.... She gets ALOT!!

Eva's been married like 2 weeks tops and she is already a rich woman!!! Remember she gets paid for going to couples therapy lol!!

  10. Up to a couple of days ago I'd not listened to anything from the audio books but after some comments in the spoilers thread I downloaded CBY and searched for the scene mentioned to hear how it sounded, listened to a chapter of the ale voice and one of the female. I preferred the male voice doing Gideon but not Eva , found it odd hearing the female doing Gideon (probably because I'd already heard the male version), and agree, hearing Angus scots accent was funny. But it was good to hear how the words the characters say (rather than the scene setting) was put over as, although we can hear a voice in our heads saying the words, we can hear them internally in a way that does not always convey what the author intended - the tone of voice and the stress put on some words can change the meaning. Once time permits I will start with BTY and give the entire audio series a go.

Yes D500 it is well worth your time...

  11. I loved the storyline in CBY but hated the male narrator.  I have listened to the whole series narrated by Jill and changing it to a man (especially every other chapter) really confused my senses.  It's just not Gideon or Eva or anybody elses voice.

Yes I am getting used to him because I am now on my second listen but I like solo Jill much better. I absolutely do not like the way he does Eva's voice...

  12. I'm game to dive in to the chapter by chapter discussion. Idea, maybe start today with Chapter 1? Even though we all got that chapter before the book's various release dates around the world, there is stuff in there that makes sense when it ties into events that happen later. One more idea, maybe not confine ourselves to one chapter per day. Instead, someone starts with a particular chapter and we all hash out our various ideas. Then when someone feels ready, she starts the ball rolling on the next chapter.

So, in Chapter 1, anyone interested in talking about Elizabeth showing up unannounced first thing in the workday at Gideon's office instead of having the gumption to approach him the night before, as soon as she saw that ring on Eva's hand and/or right after the argument the two women had? Did Elizabeth wait because she was afraid of causing a scene? Was afraid of Eva? Of Gideon?

Why dont we start each post with what was our favorite part of the chapter and the least favorite part and then the poster can allso add miscellaneous comments as they wish... I will post later on tonight as I will not be home for the next few hours...Does everyone like that idea??

  13. I agree! I always thought Gideon dodging that question was basically him saying yes. If he hadn't used a swing before he wouldn't have felt the need to evade answering the question!!

Also totally agree that we should start the chapter discussion soon! This thread jumps about too much to really delve into the book!! I'll be all over that chapter discussion like Gideon on Eva lol

Ok jm hope start the thread...

  14. yes I think he has.....can't remember which book, but when he dodged Eva's question about him using one before made me think that he has. When are we going to start out chapter discussion of CBY? It has been over 2 weeks, I think we have waited long enough and probably have reread it too often.. Anyway it would get out minds off of wanting the release date of OWY !!

    Great the sooner the better!!

  15. I think Cary and Eva came to NY together to support each other emotionally. This series doesn't cover a long span of time. Honestly, the way real estate is right now in that city, no one can live without a roommate unless they make a ton of money. Neither Eva or Cary could live alone without Stanton's help. Certainly not on the upper west side. (My brother lives right near where their apartment is supposed to be and a 2 bedroom rents for well over $7000 a month.). Cary living in the adjoining apartment isn't a problem for me. What is a problem is I see Cary sliding backwards emotionally. He needs a therapist in NY and fast.

Let's just hope Anne Lucas doesnt become his therapist. :(. :(

  16. I was looking at when she announced CBY release date.  She revealed the cover and announced on Sept 6th that it would release on Nov 18th. That is about 10 weeks time.  So if we are hoping for a release date around Valentines Day she better hurry up and do a cover reveal and announce a date ;)

I agree with whoever said that February is out because there will be too much hoopla surrounding FSOG...

  17. Sscrph, I can't get on board with Cary's living arrangements either.

Hi Georgette, the fact is I dont think Cary is really happy about it either and thats just going to make things worse. I think he should just get a smaller apartment in the current building or somewhere else of HIS choice. He will receive a salary from Eva as part of being spokesperson for her foundation and that will be the financial stability he needs to get out on his own and stay there in addition to his current modeling career. Also Eva said he could always be a personal stylist with his talent. This would be a great way for him to go also because there are many opportunities in NYC for that type of career especially with Monica Stanton's connections...But it is also Eva's fault because I think that he thinks that Eva wants him nearby...

  18. Possibly reworking other comments here - apologies, but there are a lot.

*I love the last chapter of CBY. There is so much hope moving forward. Gideon is reaching out to Eva about issues he has hitherto kept bottled up. And they are declaring their love simply and without sex. Eva is finding her space with respect to working for Cross Industries - she shows great strength of character and ethos in declaring to Mark she will not work on the PhazeOne campaign. So I envisage great companionship and mutual and respective goals from Gideon and Eva in Book Five.

    * I doubt the next book will be released anywhere near Valentine's Day because of the marketing for Fifty Shades Movie.

    * I am disappointed that Cary has not made more progress with his love triangle. He went to see Dr Travis but we don't see that Cary made any resolutions. He is drifting - helping Tatiana out because she is needy, but not showing clear resolve or commitment towards Trey. Cary is more than happy to accept "charity" from Eva, Stanton, and Gideon. He is working as a model which I guess reflects his focus on image. Look at his personal life and the image is pretty ****ed up. Perhaps he will end up working for Crossroads and making worthwhile contributions to people's lives and that will stimulate change.

    * I think the Brett dilemma is over. He is keen to change the Golden video clip (Gideon worries this shows his true feelings for Eva)

*Anne Lucas, Corinne, and maybe Deanna are threats moving forward. I bit like the ex-wives club revenge!

*I think Book 5 will focus on the Landon/Cross animosity and Gideon and Eva will tackle it together with positive resolution.

Hi Georgette I enjoyed your comments; I too would like to see Cary move forward independently it would be the best thing for him. I really cant see Trey giving Cary the answer he wants to hear. Trey is right when he says he wants someone moving forward who will help him build his practice in the future and thus far Cary has always been juggling Tatiana and Trey and more so now because of the possible baby situation. It would be great to see Cary moving forward on his own independently of a relationship. I think working with Crossroads in the future would be just what he needs and this would give him his orivate time with Eva instead of living next door to each other. I just cant get on board with that living situation...

  19. Hi Kirsten,

Let me begin this posting by apologizing about the way I phrased my posting.  I did not mean to imply that you were in some way or in any trying to justify Elizabeth Vidal's actions.  You were simply relaying information that you were kind enough to share from another source.

What I was reacting to was Elizabeth Vidal's ongoing denials and justifications about her actions.  We as the readers have been given very little about what Elizabeth Vidal's life was prior to her husband's death and all we have had the opportunity to see is how she reacted when she was confronted with the fact that her child was being abused (which was beyond disgusting...enough said).

After reading about Gideon's account of his abuse I was horrified.  It also solidified my opinion of what kind of person/mother Elizabeth Vidal is.  I had a visceral reaction.  It is the mark of a truly great writer is someone who can evoke strong emotions with the swipe of a pen.  Sylvia did a brilliant job of and is to be commended in my books.  I am sorry that you got caught in the Crossfire (no pun intended).

You are certainly right about Sylvia's writing Gigi; the passage where we hear for the first time the details of Gideon's abuse in the bathroom is riveting. Even though you dont want to read anymore the reader is compelled to do so to seek resolution. Gideon's description of his dream to Eva in the last chapter of the book is also very poignant... Sylvia has certainly captivated her readers as she tells Gideon's story.

  20. G and se*---I think he was so angry with Lizzie that he chose women who looked like her and did all kinds of kinky stuff to them.  Hence all the se* toys Eva found in the f*ck pad.  It was never about getting off for him.  He did that for himself in the shower cause he saw it as dirty.  We all know why.  I can see him accepting oral se*, which I am certain he did, but I absolutely do not think he did a whole lot of giving in that department.  That's pretty intimate and he was not about intimacy at all.  It was about rough and punishment.  I think this all started after he broke up with Corrine.  I agree their life was pretty vanilla.  It was a relationship.  He didn't ever envision another relationship after her.  So, into the kink.  As for the book, I do not think Corrine has any kinky stuff that she would talk about.  She wants G back.. That sure would never happen if he was totally embarrassed by that book.  The purpose, according to her, was to get Eva out of G's life by reminding him about how great and calm and easy their life was together and contrast it with how chaotic G and E's life is now.

Release date--I am never going to speculate.  I was so sure CBY was going to be out by the summer and we see how wrong I was.  This time, I have no clue.  Timing it with the FSOG movie?  Not a bad idea since Sylvia is often said to be the next most popular author after EL James.  I just want it.  Now.

I don't see LIzzie as a threat at all.  I hope that the theories about Graves are true cause I like her and I want to continue to like her.  It would be interesting if she and Eva shared the abuse survival.  Invited to the wedding has always surprised me.  Why would she be?  That sentence made me suspect of her.  It would be cool if these 2 became friends.  There is enough reasonable doubt with Nathan that I find it impossible for G to be indicted let alone convicted of anything unless Nathan had a camera in his room which I doubt.  Graves being an abuse surviver makes a whole lot of sense.  I hope that is the way it will go.

Deanna is sleezy.  I was so surprised in AFTERSHOCK when she was not like she was in Crossfire.  I want her handled and end of.

As for the redheads--could it be that Hugh was a red head?  I cannot remember.

Chris Jr being a voyeur? He is so creepy on so many levels that it wouldn't surprise me.  I.do.not.like,or trust. him at all.

I still think Anne is the scariest person in this whole mess.

Here is something else that I wonder about.  Sylvia never said that the TV thing was on hold in the interview we saw.  It sounded to me like it was being worked on.  God, I hope so.  Anyone else?  She still mentioned Henry and Scarlett.  I think the chances of Henry are slim to none.  That man is busy.  He will always be G to me.

The main reason that Gideon and Eva's life is so chaotic is mainly because former sexual partners " i wont call them lovers" can not get on board and realize that Gideva are off the market...permanently. These people are so delusional that they concoct these schemes to extract revenge or simply want to hurt Gideva. Even Eva in Chapter 18 comments that this is not usual for an "engaged" couple. Usually people offer their best wishes or say nothing at all if they are not happy. The people in Gideva's life are over the top. Corinne did not have a REAL relationship with Gideon that is why it was calm. There was no emotion or passion. She could have had that with Giroux but she chose to ruin that all on her own. It was not in any way Gideon's fault. He fell in love with another woman . Corinne was married and had no business messing with Eva's man. Her story is old news now: SHE NEEDS TO GO!!

  21. My own suspicion over the anger is in a post I made a few days ago, along the lines of it could be learned behaviour. Hugh taught Gideon to control his anger via mas*****tion and Hugh then went on to penetrate Gideon, possibly violently (in his nightmares he is writhing in agony. I guess he now relates very rough s*s to his anger and uses that to dissipate the anger. In the elevator scene he knows he should stay away from Eva but she taunts him with the red teddy. I took his actions then to be tying her up to stop her from taunting him further, then going off to shower and drink lots of water to cool down some of the raging 'ardour' he was now feeling and the water would possibly be to try and dilute the alcohol already in his blood stream. He also needed Eva to be more relaxed hence giving her a small glass of spirits. It was doubtless this anger that rose in him when he was with Anne due to her likeness to Hugh, which led him to be 'particularly depraved' with her and from the fact she came back for more and he allowed her to (because he felt he was punishing Hugh as well as Terence Lucas) she must have thoroughly enjoyed the experience. And I bet she hasn't found anyone quite as good at what he did to her to take his place which could be one of the reasons she is after him.Noting he was 'particularly depraved' with Anne could mean there was some depravity with others, after all his early s*xual encounters were all forced on him, possibly the vanilla s*x we assume he had with Corrine was not enough for him, whereas with Eva he realised that it was and although he would like to have a little of the kink, he's actually quite happy with vanilla.

Gideon is happy with the vanilla because for the first time in his life he is happy and it shows to everyone who sees him... He is definitely wearing his heart on his sleeve as Arnoldo pointed out... He finally has a deep, passionate emotional connection with a woman he is fuc$ing and it is the greatest sexual experience of his life...ENUF SAID...I agree with you that Corinne thinks that all Gideva have is the fuc$ing and no substance that is why she thinks she still has a chance with him...If she only knew...It is a good theory that maybe Gideon wanted more kink and Corinne didnt want to participate but hopefully we will get to the bottom of it in OWY.

As for Corinne's possessive comment at the gala; I always though she was lying/exaggerating then and I still do.
