  1. Corinne just doesn't get it...she actually thinks she still has a chance with Gideon even after he told her he has been married for 3 weeks.  I think she was going to say something like "you'll have to come crawling on your hands and knees to me if you ever want to speak with me again."

  2. How about we talk about another story line!   What job do you think Eva will have at Cross Industries?  Or do you think she will work at Crossroads maybe with Mark and or Cary?

I think the job of being a "fixer" that Gideon proposed to Eva  in EWY sounded like something she would consider and enjoy.  But it seems right now she has discovered Crossroads  and since it seems largely ignored Eva can really make it her own and probably be her own boss with Gideon's guidance of course.

  3. I saw Henry Cavill today on LIVE!  I'm getting anxious for the release of OWY and I am sure she will announce its release after Labor Day.  But man!!!  Henry is Gideon!!

Hi jnmclain... I saw that too!!! I was listening to him talking about his movie but all I could think of was Gideon LOL Cant wait to see Man from Uncle so I can drool over him for a couple of hours uninterrupted.    :) :)

  4. Does everyone think Corrine will actually release her book?

I for one do not think Corinne will release her book... If her actions are in fact due to improper meds prescribed by Anne Lucas.  I think Eva will get to the bottom of the conspiracy and Corinne will eventually come to her senses and retreat to France and try to make a go of it with Giroux.

  5. I guess I'm hung up on the words " would have been a one night stand over and done with" in chapter 18 of CBY when Gideon is telling Eva why Deanna is upset. I'm feeling he gave Eva part truths when he told her back in EWY that he had "been" with Deanna once. He would have been referring to the time he answered the phone which Deanna told Eva about. He feels it only counts if he used his #$%&. He would have felt the "other encounters" didn't count so she need not know about it.

Corrine would not have told Deanna he has a dark side. Maggie wouldn't talk to Deanna. Perhaps only Anne told her but how would Deanna know Anne and Gideon were together since it was a secret affair. I still feel Deanna and Gideon had more than one night . He used the sex toys on her and was probably cool and dark towards her. Thier last time together he didn't finish and answered the phone . She would have experienced his dark side and his iciness and that's why she told Eva he melted a bit for her. If Deanna and Gideon only had one night she sure knows alot about him and is comfortable enough to place her hand on his forearm and talk candidly about being his lover and how Eva wouldn't want a past lover thrown in her face. If it was one night then Deanna has huge issues but we know she doesn't cause in the Afterburn book she is able to handle one night stands and handle kink and has been around..sleeping with married men to get info and dirt for a good story.

Gideon used her several times and the final time was when he burned her by answering the phone and the Deanna off. She didn't get what she wanted and he probably ignored her ever since.

Do I think Deanna will continue to be an issue...no. The wording in chapter 18 of CBY caught me off guard.

I do not think the Deanna bomb is dormant by any means.  We know Gideon is clueless when it comes to women and he has seriously underestimated the tenacious reporter...but she better tread lightly because Gideon can easily destroy her career if she makes the wrong move.  That is an interesting thought that perhaps she is helping Corinne to write her book.  I don't trust her and could easily see her working together with Anne and Corinne.  Obviously Eva is on to her which is usually the case with Gideon's former sexual partners.  I also think Gideon underestimates Anne Lucas as a threat.  I think she would definitely do Eva physical harm... That woman is way past revenge mode...she's out for blood.  :(  :(

Oooo, D500, now there's a scary thought: if there is an Anne-Corrine connection, like several posters (me included) think, what happens when Corrine goes crying to the (Not)Good Doctor about Gideon being married? Leaves the Crossfire and calls Dr. Lucas for an emergency appointment. All sorts of frightening possibilities if Anne goes off the deep end. Because in Anne's twisted thinking, Eva has now become the ultimate vulnerability: to destroy her would be to destroy Gideon. I hope Gideon gets Eva out of town and safely to North Carolina the first weekend of the novel.

We the readers and Gideva are greatly in need of an epic romantic weekend in the Outer Banks... Totally agree with the theory that Corinne leaves Gideon's office and runs to good ole Dr. Lucas for an emergency session...yes Corinne was way too calm when she received the "devasatating" news of the marriage...way too calm...

  7. Here's my theory about what Arash meant when he teased Gideon, “If I remember correctly, you tagged two women when we blew out Cinco de Mayo and a few weeks later, you’re telling me to draft an insane prenup.” It's a wild theory, but it's just one theory, so jump in but don't jump all over me. All in good fun.

Gideon and the guys partied on Cinco de Mayo at the f***pad hotel, and Gideon took two women up to his room for a three-way.

Remember in CBY when Gideon was backstage at Brett's concert and two women tried to tag-team him, both of them pawing him. Gideon thought to himself "In another time, I would've f******* them both, turning the feel of being hunted into one of complete control."

As for parties at the f***pad hotel, the hotel has some sort of function room/rooms and/or a restaurant. Gideon hosted the Kingsman Vodka party at the hotel the night he killed Nathan, including using a kitchen fire at the hotel as part of his alibi.

I can see Gideon engaging in three-ways in the past. It's more impersonal than one-on-one with a woman, he's got the stamina to satisfy two women in one session, and hey, he wouldn't necessarily have to engage in intercourse with one or both. He's got toys stocked.

Most important, afterward there would be less of those pesky emotional expectations from two women who had been with him together. The idea of Gideon getting his kink on in a menage is more palatable than him having a one-night with Deanna that included intercourse, and him carrying on an affair with Anne that included rough s**.

Totally agree with this Lighthouse...Definitely think it was a three-way.

  8. I agree Seattle. Let's chat about things we can control as opposed to talking about the lack of a release date which we can't control.  As for Victor and Monica, i hope Victor and Monica both get their heads on straight.  In the future they will be seeing alot of each other as Gideva marry and have a family.  I cant imagine Victor missing out on raising his grandchildren since he regrets missing out on so much of Eva's life.  I even predict a move to NYC for him at some point so the both of them will just have to put it all behind them and move forward for Eva's sake.

  9. Cute post yesterday on Sylvia's Facebook page, a #bookconfession where she admits "I never win arguments with my characters."

Anyone up for having some fun with this. Some fill in the blanks fun?

Question: Gideon, what were you thinking?! Seriously, what were you thinking when you (fill in the blank here)

Gideon: (fill in his answer here)

    For example:

Me: Seriously, what were you thinking when you let Corrine into your office yet again?!

Gideon: Trust me, I know what I'm doing.

Me: Time to remind you what Eva warned you about on the night she first met that nut job. You don't understand that you drive women off the deep end and they think of crazy ways to try to get you. Corrine is stalking you. "Stow the guilt, Gideon, and start weaning her off."

Too bad Gideon didn't take Eva''s advice 2 books ago lol as we can see his weaning process has been most unsuccessful. :(. :(

  10. Hi Everyone,

I have read the postings and I just wanted to clarify that the difference between sexual abuse and pedophilia.  I just wanted everyone to be clear that there is absolutely no correlation between having been sexually abused and becoming a pedophile.

To imply that being abused predisposes an individual to becoming a pedophile is not true.  There is no credible or reliable evidence that proves that theory.  I also don't believe that Gideon would have ever travelled down a "dark path" and become a pedophile Corrine or no Corrine.  Many people who have been abused engage in self-harming (i.e. alcohol, drugs, suicide, depression, etc.) as opposed to harming others.

What is at issue here is that Gideon had to reconcile himself with the fact that he was a sexual being who had/has needs and he had to navigate a very scary part of life; sex, in a way that made him feel safe.   I don't know that the type of sex was the key, but the fact that he had to be in control in order for him to remain emotionally safe was key.

Hi Gigi glad you're back. Emotionally safe is definitely the correct term to use in Gideon's situation. At the Six-Ninth's concert when those two gals sandwiched him backstage; Gideon states that he had learned how to deal with sexual predators after Hugh. He turned it around on them from being hunted to dominating. And that was the way he lived his life until Eva. Now he revels in her attention and touch able to feel the love she obviously feels for him. Not just an object for someone's pleasure such as the sexual predator Hugh or the other aggressive women in his past.

  11. Gideon had worries about having his own children - in the scene where Ireland joined him during the night she stayed over:she says "you'll have kids by then. It won't be as fun"He thinks "I paused, hit by anxiety sharp enough to mist my skin with sweat. The thought of having a baby with Eva both thrilled and terrified me. It wasn't save for my wife to live with me. How could it ever be safe for a child?"Further on after the visit from the apartment planner, when Cary was with Eva and Gideon Cary mentions the possibility of a nursery and Eva immediately responds the room could be a guest room. Because she dodged the idea by changing the subject Gideon thinks "Did Eva have the same fears I did? Maybe she'd taken me as a husband because she couldn't help herself, but drew the line at taking me as a father to her children."Perhaps that could be interpreted as he was worried that, after being abused himself he might abuse his own children although I am more inclined towards the nightmares causing a problem. I have read that some abused children grow up to continue the abuse but have no idea what the scale of that is to those who grow up to have a normal relationship with their own children. But definitely not a paedophile - that is people who are attracted to young children, not sure if that can be learned behaviour or if it is something that is inbuilt into certain human's psyche (I'm basing that thinking on such as gay people do not learn to be bay/become gay because of an event in their lives but have something within themselves which means they are attracted to the same gender). So far as we know Gideon did not go down the road of self-harming but you never know, something could crop up in the last book about that although, unlike the slight bdsm he has seemingly been involved in, there have been no subtle hints in previous books (unless someone recalls something I've forgotten). And I agree with GiGi's last sentences, Gideon had to resolve how to handle his sexual nature as well as deciding that he would shelve any problems by burying them deep in his mind - sadly unable to completely forget them so not the ideal way to sort his life out.

I think it is ridiculous to think Gideon is worried about abusing his own children he was simply referring to the fact that on occasion he has violent nightmares and perhaps he may accidentally hurt his wife or maybe a small child sleeping in the same bed as they often do. Gideon was not sexually abused by his parents. He was abused by a sexual predator not in any way related to him. Gideon thinks he is seriously fuc$$$ up in regards to these nightmares and has self esteem issues regarding being a proper husband to Eva and now a proper father to his future children. Poor Gideon hopefully we will see him blissfully happy in OWY. :). :)

  12. Sadly for Corinne she sees herself as a more important part of Gideon's life than she actually was. Yes she was his first consensual sexual experience and she "soothed" him as Gideon himself says but to me it sounds alot like friends with benefits. Their mothers were friends and they went to the same college and had mutual friends so I am sure they naturally gravitated toward one another. They did get engaged and then Corinne broke the engagement and as Gideon told Eva he was relieved and frankly he wasn't despondent and did not go running back to her as she had hoped . It is obvious that she had and continues to have much stronger feelings for Gideon than he ever had for Corinne. The only reason Gideon is attentive to Corinne at this point is because she is a threat to Eva. Gideon himself says that he stopped paying attention to her a long time ago and thus wasnt aware of how desperate she had become. I do believe also that Anne is Corinne's therapist and may convince her to try and hurt Eva... The only interest Gideon has in Corinne at this point is preventing collateral damage to Eva. His feelings for Corinne were resolved a long time ago.

  13. I was beginning to wonder if his time with Corrine had not been vanilla - pretty sure what he said about what he did with Anne being more twisted was the worst he ever did, and the rumours Deanna mentioned of his dark side may well have come from Anne, but all we had up to CBY was Eva's POV and what he said to her - and we know he is capable of omitting to tell the full truth albeit without actually telling a lie.And your reminding me Lancorp owns that hotel means I may have to change my mind about them not being a major part of the next book.Is it wrong of me to feel sorry for all those who read CBY and dismissed it as having no storyline, or being pointless or a filler when in fact it is an important move along of the whole story?

I still believe that Gideon's time with Corinne was vanilla... Remember when they had that first encounter in his office Gideon says "I played a role for you; I let you see what I wanted you to see; what I thought you could accept. Yes Gideon was a hot mess at that time but his mask was firmly in place and Corinne was definitely not privy to the damaged Gideon.
