Just sitting here when a thought popped in to my head. This could be Cinderella in reverse. With
Gideon being Cinderella
Eva the prince
Both the Chris's being the ugly sisters
Elizabeth, the evil step mum
Ireland fairy godmother.
Cary is buttons.
Sorry I need to get out more!
Hi Julie I totally agree with you I have thoughts of the Cinderella story myself!!

I think Gideon inherited his genius for making money from his father, but where his father misused that talent to become a very serious crook, Gideon has used his to be an honest businessman -- and ended up richer than his father could have ever become as a crook. Geoffrey Cross probably dreamed of the success Gideon achieved, but Geoffrey chose the fast, dishonest way to try to get there.
However, when Gideon was younger, he had started out in life as a young man by first tapping into his own dishonest side. Gideon got his start by cheating at blackjack (counting cards.) Those gambling winnings became the foundation upon which he eventually built his financial empire.
It had been in the casinos while gambling that he started making honest business connections through folks he met at the gaming tables. He turned to honest ways of making money, and now he is scrupulous today about being an honest businessman.
I think this demonstrates how Gideon is very much a complicated person full of both dark and light, and that in the end, the light prevails. Plus, I cut him lots of slack for having started out cheating at blackjack in order to get money. I'll be that the only reason his stepfather paid for him to go an Ivy League college (Columbia University) was because it made his stepfather look good. Gideon left home as soon as he could and already was distancing himself from the Vidals. It's safe to say Vidal had no intention of continuing to keep Gideon in an affluent position in life past college age -- and I'll bet Gideon would have refused to continue to accept money from the Vidals in any case.
Yes LN I agree but why would Elizabeth have been ok with Vidal slighting her son?
-
Okay. Thanks but I honestly think his father isn't like a shady character and he kept the name in remembrance because he was innocent. Maybe I'm wrong, who knows!
Apparently he would rather have the name Cross than Vidal any day!!

Poor Gideon was never made to feel like one of the family. As you so rightly say, Mr Vidal Snr could have adopted Gideon, but it seems like he wanted to alienate Gideon.
Just a thought, could Mr Vidal Snr have been one of those investors? That would explain why he wouldn't adopt him.
So want to give Gideon a hug and make it all better for him.
Yes I do wonder why Vidal never adopted Gideon because you think Elizabeth would have pushed for this to happen...

Julie you make a very good point there I always wondered why that was even included in that scene and I think you have the answer.

Another Foreigner tune: Waiting For A Girl Like You
Luv this LN!! Foreigner rocks!!

Eva's apartment is modern style, and her bathroom is set up with separate shower and tub. Another possibility is this is a tub in a hotel room.
Â
Snapshot #5, which came out Tuesday, showed a neat pile of white terrycloth towels, and some of the speculation here was they were meeting in a hotel. This might fit in with the luggage tags on the bookcover.
Good point about the luggage tags

Sylvia already has another novel coming out in August, so it's very unlikely the publisher would release the 4th Crossfire novel that same month. Sales of each book could compete with one another.
Â
Especially because the new book is the first of two volumes in a new contemporary series - we're going to meet new modern-day characters. It's called Afterburn, and it's due out Aug. 15. The second novel, Aftershock, is due out Nov. 12.
Â
Here's the link to the Coming Soon page on Sylvia's main website, http://www.sylviaday.com/coming-soon/
If there is a fourth book I think it will be a Christmas season release
-
If the cops are backing down at this point which I hope I'm sure it's all due to Brett Kline so we have to be grateful to him for that!!LOL
-
This seems like it is probably Eva's bathroom because Gideon's bathroom was done in antique style and this tub style would really not fit in with that unless this is a tub at a secret love nest it's not in North Carolina because that tub was claw foot but I agree with it being a confessional of sorts

Definitely Christopher jr and Dr. Lucas are at the top of the creepy list and ripe for an introduction to Krav Magamaybe even Chris Sr will make a pass at Eva and keep it all in the family LOLOh I think one or more of Gideon's known enemies might make it necessary for Eva to defend herself.
Â
Christopher Jr. is a known creep who has made it clear he wants to go out with Eva -- and who is more than capable of plotting to try to use Eva in order to hurt Gideon. I wouldn't put physical stunts past the guy.
Â
Plus, I gotta wonder just how literally Lucas might want revenge against Gideon for Gideon having sexually used Anne Lucas specifically to hurt Lucas himself. Especially now that Eva, who threatened Lucas right to his face about the abuse cover-up, has now made an open enemy of the guy too.

Well if she has been reading this blog she knows we're desperate so let's hope so LOL!!

An oldie but goodie Foreigner's "I Can't Live Without Your Love"

Hi Sscrph,
I agree I don't think that we will ever really know exactly everything that happened that night. I personally don't think that Gideon killed Nathan but even if he did, I really don't think that Gideon would burden Eva with all of that horrible information. Eva would then have to walk around with that information for the rest of her life.Â
Â
But for the fact that Eva came into Gideon's life, Gideon would never have had to commit murder. That kind of information would induce a huge amount of guilt! I don't know that Eva would be able to live with that. I get that this is an erotic novel, but this type of scenario would rival a murder mystery. What does everyone think?
Gigi this is why I don't want to believe Gideon killed Nathan because Eva would bear a huge amount of guilt, it's just the way she is and she's already been through enough and I don't want her to live her life like that she needs to be free finally...

Hi Sscrph,
I think that Gideo bares some of the responsibility for the whole Corinne situation. Gideon was never honest with Corinne from the start. He never loved her, he wanted to love her but in the end the feelings weren't there. Instead of pulling Corinne aside and letting her off the hook, he allowed her to falsely believe that she just walked away from a guy who really loved her.
Â
I think that is cruel. what Corinne did to Eva wasn't right, but she isn't the only who is to blame for this entire situation. If Gideon wants to grow as a human being, he will put on his "big boy pants" and tell Corinne the truth. Thus far each woman has been left to their own devices and making false assumptions based on Gideon's lack of communication. What does everyone think?
That being said, isn't Gideon's lack of communication the root of much of the controversy in the books? I think so what does everyone else think?

The Vidals invited to Gideon's wedding? (Falls over onto the floor and curls up laughing.)
Â
Seriously, though -- just Ireland, whom I could see being maid of honor to Eva in return for Cary being best man to Gideon.
Yes LN I'm glad you fell over laughing cause I meant it as a joke!!
-
What I said was that Nathan probably took several blows to his body before Gideon punched him in the face. Look at the fight he had with Brett. Brett took several blows to his body before he got any to his face. What Brett did didn't even come close to what Nathan did.Â
Â
I look at the way in which Gideon's state was described by Sylvia after the fight! There is NO WAY a guy would need to SHOWER and CHANGE after punching a guy ONCE!! AS far as I know Gideon doesn't suffer from a fear of germs.Â
I think the showering had more to do with his disgust at being so close to a vile rapist child molester and he was just trying to get clean!
Like Eva had to shower after her nightmare about Nathan
-
Maybe they will have a small wedding on a beach. That sounds romantic!
Yes I love this idea, do you think the Vidals will be invited?
-
Gideon needs to tell her that..! She's parked at dumb and stuck on stupid..!! Magdalena needs to tell her about what she saw in the library, which made (Magdalena) realize gideon loves eva, To knock some since in Corrine..!!
Yes Gideon needs to take off the white gloves and deal Corinne a dose of reality. She's a big girl and as Fergie sings Big Girls Don't Cry . She is the one who left Gideon and married another guy take responsibility for your actions. Gideon should have no guilt where she is concerned and he needs to get over it too.

This is it. I am reading BTY for at least the 6th or 7th time and I vow not to read again until EWY is released. This waiting is unbearable.
-
I think we may be wasting our time on these theories about how it all went down because I just don't think we will ever know the details because as someone mentioned earlier I don't think Gideon will ever divulge the details of how it all went down.

Could Angus have left the limo idling in front of the f--- pad hotel to let others think he was inside and walked the 15 mins to and from Nathan's to do the deed and then return to his car waiting for the party to end?
-
Right now, Detective Graves is hung up on the possible hole she uncovered in Gideon's alibi. The party was disrupted for an hour by a kitchen fire at the hotel, which sent everyone (party guests and hotel guests) outside to mill around. Graves believes Gideon slipped off in the middle of the confusion, walked 15 minutes to Nathan's hotel, killed him, and walked 15 minutes back.
Â
This leads me to believe the estimated time of death from the autopsy is somewhere in the evening. Plus, the fact that Gideon had gone out of his way to make sure he was seen -- and even press photographed -- at that party leads me to believe that if Angus did it instead, Angus did so while the party was going on.
But would Nathan have opened the door for Angus knowing he was Gideon's bodyguard or not knowing him at all ? Or maybe Angus was already in the room...
