Hi Nrock You are right. Megumi sounded horrible. Perhaps she was muffling her voice so as not to be heard by her could-be kidnapper. I believe she went missing on the Monday Mr Giroux rings Eva up. I found it odd that Eva answered the call directly, since Megumi had always put through Eva's incoming calls so far. I'm wondering who this kidnapper might be... Michael? Martin? (is he buying time when Eva asks him how she could reach Lacey, Megumi's flat-mate who Martin is dating?) I really don't know. Perhaps I'm watching too much C.S.I series these days!  After Angus (ex MI5!!!) helped Gedeon carry out Nathan's murder, I believe Stanton/Clancy took over. Stanton is a much more experienced financial mogul, and is likely to have more underworld connections than he cares to say. Maybe the Russian mob is actually involved....

Hi Michele, here are my random thoughts.  I believe Gedeon feels 'ambushed', 'drawn back' into a place that is not his any more (if it ever was!) Surely,  Lizzie, Corinne, Corinne's parents, and Giroux don't expect to see Eva there, and they don't raise a finger to make her feel she's in the picture too (w/ Giroux already an outsider, standing all alone by a window). They all represent that pas Eva is afraid will never stop being an issue in her and Gedeon's life. Therefore, I think that by squeezing Eva's hand Gedeon is telling her that he needs her support to put up with this awkward situation, and that she's the one he has chosen to spend the rest of his life with, ...... his future.   .

Either he doesn't know or he doesn't care. I find it hard to believe he doesn't know. And he must be hurting really bad too, which explains his hatred towards Gedeon. Lucas put everything he had (love, honour, professional skills, family) at stake because of Gedeon, and he did so for a woman who doesn't love him anymore. I would feel pity for him, if I weren't so pis**d at him.

"Lizzie" when we're being very very very kind to her. I think "Lizardy" is more appropriate for her!!!!

Hello everybody from Italy!!!  I LOVETHIS BOOK SO MUCH!! By now it's become like Linus van Pelt's blanket to me!!! I take it everywhere I go and read it whenever I get the chance to.  Apart from the obvious (that is, the sexy scenes and most of all the ones on the plane to the Caraibi!!   ) I really like our New Eva when she confronts Mr Giroux, Elizabeth (grrrrrr!!) and even Monica (at last!!!).  There are so many scenes that I deeply enjoyed while reading, but the moment I love best occurs when Eva sneaks into Gedeon's bedroom and fall asleep in an armchair beside the master bed only to wake up to one of Gedeon's pained nightmares. She then climbs into 'their' bed and hugs him. She tries to soothe Gedeon with the sound of her voice, and lulls him into a peaceful sleep again. It's so so so sweet, isn't it?

Plus, Brett is back. Which inevitalby puts Gedeon in a tight spot. I think Gedeon wants to marry Eva then and there because he knows he can't put up with Brett trying to get her back; He doesn't know how to handle this totally new situation for him: a woman he wants (and loves, by now) might be stolen from him by another man!!!!

After spending a wonderfuld weekend at the Garda Lake, I'm soooooo glad to be here with you.  Here's my favourite lines in Chapter 3  1) "I sat up and leaned against the headboard, making no effort to cover my bre*sts because we were going to end up talking about his ex-fiancée. I played dirty when warranted."  2) "I want to be everything you ever found in the other women you've been with." Women he had taken to a f*ck pad with toys. "I can't keep my hands off you. That should be enough to tell you I don't need more."  3) I'll be da*ned if plastic, glass, metal, or leather will make you come. B.O.B. and his friends will have to find other amusements."  4) "We are totally dysfunctional." " I prefer 'selectively deviant'. But we'll keep that to ourselves."  5) What girl didn't want to obtain the unattainable?  6) Brett's voice "sounds like S-E-X rolled in chocolate and covered in whipped cream."  I'm stlii reading the older posts..... always catching up!!!

MEEEE! I would have liked a "quiet" confrontation between them, like they did outside Corinne's apartment door, with Eva showing off her engagement ring. HA! serves her right!!  Has anyone seen the actual ring? It's gorgeous!!!

I love this New Eva!!! Eva’s changed indeed. Gedeon’s sacrifice for her has put things into a different perspective for her. She’s taken up that no-nonsense attitude that she loves so much in others (namely, Angus, Clancy) and is likely to help her support Gedeon’s recover. I also find Gedeon's theory about his past relationships quite interesting...
