  1. I was trying to think how she would catch them, given that she hasn't up till now been in his apartment. Wouldn't it be good if she turned up at Gideons , he opens the door, with Eva standing behind thoroughly f*cked, like Corinne tried to pull on Eva . Lol payback ######!

I want this to happen too.  The only problem is she isn't on the "allowed" list.  I'm thinking Scott takes a potty break and she walks in on Eva & Gideon having office sex.

  2. How about Corrine catches them in one another's arms? Which actually could be a scary plot twist, depending upon how badly she reacts -- would it be bad enough to endanger Gideon/Eva's secrecy?

Wouldn't it be ironic if Gideon literally ran after Corrine immediately in order to try to stop her from doing something rash upon catching him and Eva making love?

I can see Mr. Control Freak trying to control the situation. Thus Corrine would finally manage to get Gideon to chase her -- but the result being the opposite of what she hoped for. She'd be told he doesn't love her and she cannot be any part of his life anymore, not even as a friend.

I can live this scenario.  I have to say I like the idea of Corinne getting some payback.

Since her husband is a friend of Gideon's I think he will try to get them back together.  It would resolve some of Gideon's guilt.

  3. Personally, I think no way in h*** would Gideon quickly walk to and from Nathan's hotel. Gideon is a major celebrity, and he would have been recognized on the street.

I think when Graves said she timed the walk on foot -- 15 minutes each way -- she wasn't implying she thought Gideon walked. The point she was making related to her having successfully broken Gideon's alibi wide open.

Gideon had more than enough time, during that hour-long evacuation of the party hotel, to pull off the killing. Gideon clearly had "opportunity" in other words -- the crucial legal element that along with motive is what the prosecution needed to prove to a jury. Even on foot, Gideon could have pulled it off in little over a half hour. Driving to and from the crime scene, Gideon probably had it done in ten minutes or so.

Good point I wasn't thinking of an accomplice when I first read the book.

I always thought Gideon acted alone, most likely had a change of clothes in his old "f room" that he used to sneak in and out.  After reading the posts I think there is a possibility that Angus helped but I still wonder if Gideon would really involve anyone else.

  4. I'm sure Gideon turned up at Times Square deliberately, because he knew Brett would be there. Knowing that, probably sent Gideons demon twins-as they are now known- into a tailspin. He went there to somehow protect his property, ie Eva.

I know but I just think there is enough passion in the Eva/Gideon relationship that it is hard for them to fool people for long.  Also, I go back to the Eva/Gideon conversation that they trust each other now.  I believe that they are looking for ways to hook up, so to speak.

  5. Graves said that it was a 15 minute walk to Nathan's hotel.  I always thought that Angus was around the corner and picked Gideon up so he could get there and get back quickly.  I don't know if that would throw a wrench in Graves theory but it might be enough to give a jury reasonable doubt that someone could get to Nathan, kill him and get back to the hotel where witnesses saw him throughout the night.  Some people even saw him talking to FDNY and others resolving problems with the kitchen fire.

  6. Henry Cavill is playing Superman, a quintessentially American character, in Man of Steel, the major motion picture being released next month. Check out the movie trailer, which shows the British Cavill most certainly can do an American accent:

Oh dear playing Superman usually ends an actors career.  He will need to play Gideon to keep his audience.

  7. My theory is Angus, in his capacity as driver, was already told Gideon would not be going to that off-site lunch meeting -- but -- Angus as Gideon's main bodyguard (and thus a key member of Gideon's security staff) knew Nathan had re-appeared. Angus, expecting that Gideon would want to speak to him soon, decided to hang out in case Gideon wanted to cancel his afternoon schedule.

Seeing Corrine, I think Angus decided on his own to give her a ride - if Gideon called him, he could head right back.

Angus would have known Corrine well -- probably far better than Angus knew Eva. Certainly much longer than Angus knew Eva -- at that point, Angus had been driving Eva less than two weeks. Angus would have known Corrine when she was Gideon's fiancee.  Doing the math:

    • Angus started working for Gideon himself (instead of the Vidals) eight years ago -- which means Gideon was 20 years old when he hired Angus away from his stepfather.
    • Gideon met Corrine when he was a college freshman, around age 18, and they were together for three years, the final year of that engaged - so he would have been around age 21 when Corrine walked away.

Upstairs when Eva confronted Gideon, Gideon claimed to be running late for a meeting. I doubt Gideon was going to the lunch meeting. He'd probably scheduled some sort of emergency security meeting. Or perhaps he was rushing to meet with Stanton. Either way, he had something much more urgent on his mind than business, as so he had no time for Eva's "over-reactions"

I also thought the lunch meeting was cancelled and Angus was waiting for Gideon for a later meeting or Gideon asked him to hang out probably to go talk to Stanton.

  8. I just heard another song that reminded me of Crossfire.

    The Story by Brandi Carlile

All of these lines across my face

Tell you the story of who I am

So many stories of where I’ve been

And how I got to where I am

But these stories don’t mean anything

When you’ve got no one to tell them to

    It’s the truth

    I was made for you

I climbed across the mountain tops

Swam all across the ocean blue

I crossed all the lines and

    I broke all the rules

But baby I broke them all for you

You made me feel like a million bucks

    You do

    I was made for you

You see the smile that’s on my mouth

It’s hiding the words that don’t come out

And all of my friends who think that I’m blessed

They don’t know my head is a mess

No they don’t know who I really am

    And they don’t know what

I’ve been through like you do

And I was made for you….

  9. I was thinking the picture is of Trey because Cary has him tied in knots because he doesn't know where he stands.  He can't take Cary's foolishness anymore.  Cary did something that sent him over the edge and Trey just wants to break free of the whole relationship but Cary knows how to push his buttons and keep Trey hanging on.

  10. j

I'm sure he does feel guilty about using her. However i do think he was upfront with her about just being friends. When Eva confronts Corrine at the end of RIY she tells Corrine that she knows Gideon would have been upfront with her. I could be wrong but i think Eva is right. Of course he's not shutting down Corrine's hope that he will change his mind but he needs her for his alibi.

True, Eva did say that .... but that's before Eva figured out Gideon deliberately hurt her (Eva) by manipulating her love for him. When Eva faced Corrine, Eva probably thought Gideon was on another one of his head trips and that's why Gideon had pushed her away. He's done it before, from pushing her away the night they made love for the first time to pushing her away for four days over his nightmares. Now Eva knows the truth of what Gideon did was far darker, far worse than simply being confused. He was deliberate.

Even though Gideon intentionally misled Eva I don't think he went out with Corinne without telling her they didn't have a future together.  I'm not sure how he explained it to her but he did.  I think Corinne decided to be his +1 and try to work on him to change his mind.  I think she feels if she can spend time with Gideon she can get him back in the sack and then back in his heart.  Unfortunately she doesn't know how strong a hold Eva has on Gideon.

  11. i agree. I don't think Corrine is that messed up. I think she fell in love with a guy who's not in love with her and that's caused her to be devious and b*****y but not suicidal.

Well it looks like everyone is in agreement so I won't go down that path but the person does look a little depressed.  Maybe Corinne & Deanna's schemes have failed.

  12. "Because of you, the world makes sense to me in a way it didn't before. I have a place now, with you"

He wanted to be more than an outsider.

I love this scene.  It let us see that regardless of how much material wealth he has achieved he is destitute in the emotional area.  He needs an emotional connection that only Eva can give to him.  Hopefully he will start acting a little smarter so he doesn't send her running permanently.

  13. This is true if Giroux does come to town, it makes the cover-up look very good for Gideon and Eva --all the exes making an appearance!! LOL

What if the picture of the brunette (from the 21 days to go) is Corinne trying to commit suicide and then her husband comes to town.  The woman is in a prone position.  Wouldn't that be a story for Deanna?

  14. I don't dislike the woman, she is just a sad, shallow individual, who had her priorities all wrong, and Eva suffered for it. Nothing will change what happened, and consequently she is now paying the price, of feeling guilty and will suffer to the end of her days.

I just feel like Monica didn't have a loving home life either and she did the best she knew how for her daughter.  I think Monica believed that wealth and status were the answer to good parenting.  Honestly what parent sends a pregnant daughter away without assistance.  Victor's only negative quality (that we know of for her parents) was his status/wealth.  We never hear anything about her maternal grandparents so I'm assuming that, even after all this time, they never had any contact with Eva or her mom.

Monica is wrought with guilt and she knows she failed her daughter.  I think Monica can be salvaged but she will have to answer to Victor first.

  15. I don't think Gideon contacted Giroux. But maybe Giroux contacted Gideon and asked point blank if he(Gideon) and Corinne were back together. Gideon saw this as oppurtunity to get rid of Corinne and told Giroux the truth that he(Gideon) wasn't with Corinne and had no plans of getting back with her because he doesn't love her. Probably Gideon told Giroux that if he came to NYC it would show Corinne that Giroux isn't "indifferent" towards her like she thinks. So hopefully Corinne gets back with Giroux and moves back to France so Eva and Gideon don't have to worry about her unrequited love any longer.

    You maybe right.
